The Fernery - Australian restaurant in Mosman, Australia
The service and atmosphere are great , the food sub par at best wont be back ever again dont u understand the great reviews??
Great cocktails. Nice vibe. friendly service too. I was served by Andrew and I appreciated him taking interest in my day!
Lovely rooftop and large venue - great views ! Food is good.
Food is decent, view and decor is lovely however service was not acceptable.Firstly we were asked if we wanted table service, which we did, however no one ever came so we had to order at the bar.We waited an hour for 2x steaks and had to chase them up and I don’t think the orders went through on their end.The venue was not busy at all, and service was basically non existent. Shame because it has potential.
New management is fantastic. Love the fresh food, service and the vibe! Highly recommended 😃
Chips were crispy, vibes are great, Austin the man who served us was an absolute legend, lovely character. If the rest of the venue is as great as that bloke, 110% recommend.
Very much enjoyed my time at The Fernery. The cocktail menu (which we ripped intowas delicious. Big thank you to Austin for making them for us and the excellent service from the entire team. Will be coming back soon
How good is the Fernery! Food is scrumptious, drinks are off the chain, live music was big vibes. Shout out to Austin for looking after us. Yew!
Thinking about booking a function here - just dont.It really felt as though absolutely none of the staff had any clue what was happening, and hadn’t been briefed whatsoever, and that instead of relaxing, I was having to check every detail and organise the service.Yes, there had been a changeover of management from booking to the actual evening, but, I emailed every detail and they still did not know what was going on, to having to prove over and over again Id paid a deposit, wrong numbers of guests, staff not knowing there were food allergies even though Id had it in writing and numerous conversations about it, kids meals not organised, rude staff, a GM who would not come over and introduce himself even after Id asked to make myself known twice as the point of contact and the list goes on.If you want to have a seamless event where you can relax and know that every detail will be taken care of and noted - go elsewhere.
Went for lunch yesterday and it was pretty average, the new menu is a bit boring and needs a lot of improvements. Garlic prawns were tasty but reminded me of a dish my Mum used to make in the 80s, crostini were just a boring guacamole on cracker, Haloumi was just grilled (and overcookedand served with a bit of lettuce, scallops lacked flavour and were tiny, croquettes just tasted like mashed potato. Squid was nice, but nothing special. All in all it was very underwhelming meal. Lovely view and good service, but kind of sad to see it so empty on sunny Friday arvo!
Booked for a party of 10 on a Friday night. Went here with my bridal party (my groomsmen and wifes bridesmaidsthe night before our wedding.Nil table service as food was ordered at the counter - fine in itself. However- very slow service with food. Took 20minutes for a burger.- they forgot multiple orders and we had to remind them to "check" the kitchen- in the end we were there for over an hour and had to get a refund for a salmon dish, which was clearly miscommunicated/forgotten by the kitchen. To be fair, the servers were clearly busy and were friendly enough when we could get hold of them.Good views though.Would come here again with only a small party.
We came here for our anniversary. The cocktails were THE BEST WE HAVE EVER HAD!!!! The food was 10/10, sooooo DELISH! And all of the staff are super friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Amazing interior, stunning rooftop views and great food. We really enjoyed the sashimi tacos and spiced calamari. Would highly recommend the baked 1/2 shell scallops.
We booked The Balmoral Room at The Fernery for an engagement lunch and it was fabulous. The space was great, the staff were exceptional, food is delicious and our guests raved about it afterwards. Thank you so much to the team for making it so memorable. We will definitely be back!
It was our first time back since pre covid and its great to see its still the same with a fee changes to the menu. The food was really good and the service was spot on. Well return soon with a larger group next time.
We arrived at 6pm for our sorting & the 3 piece band had just started. From the happy hour signature G & T to the cocktails, the entrees and mains were great. Old school Brussel sprouts, scallops and tacos were on point. Service and attentiveness of Lilly and the other wait staff was great. Will come again, A+
Wow what an amazing day we had here for a team lunch. The food was OUTSTANDING. One of the best meals Ive had in a very long time. The camembert my favourite. Huge thanks to Claudia and Matthew who looked after us.
Had a lovely meal at the Fernery. Food, ambiance and service were all exceptional. Highly recommended.
Great views, great service, good foods.
Pleasant experienced, good food,friendly service.
A hidden gem in plain sight! The views are stunning, in multiple directions, and the food incredible. Love your work guys. Ill certainly be back
Delicious dinner and incredible views of the city and harbour heads. I had an amazing cheese burger at the fernery. The burger bun was like nothing else Ive had.
Recently hosted a surprise 50th in the Balmoral Room and it was 5 star service all the way!Cordiya was easy to work with and had great communication. The staff on the night were helpful and very friendly and responded to every request and question efficiently. The venue itself was lovely and the Balmoral room is designed enough to be interesting but also allow for extra decoration and theming. The food was the absolute highlight - I had concerns after reading a few unfavourable reviews but they were quickly eased when the first course was served. Fresh and tasty and a great mix of options in the buffet menu to satisfy even the fussiest eater. Highly recommend this place for parties, events etc. Thank you to Cordiya and the team, it was a fabulous evening!
Relieved to leave… what a disaster! So many things wrong, frigid, FREEZING air con (we asked for it to be relaxed, re turbo charged to the point of plants AND hair were moving!! OR warmed up a notch please…pointed out the number of diners with their coats/jackets on INSIDE!! Nope… couldn’t be done! 🤨Waited 1 hr for bread (1pm bookinghad to request whereabouts at 2pm. It arrived 10 mins later, followed by our mains WHICH WERE COLD LIKE US!!Keep it simple, do it well Fernery. Epic fail 👎
Such amazing food! My partner and I decided to order as much as we could to try the amazing range of food on the menu and were absolutely stunned at how well each dish tasted. The customer service was absolutely phenomenal, our waitress Sofia was so friendly and offered all her opinions on the menu (she was asked to by my partner and I so we could get the bestand we were not disappointed. The manager was so wonderful and kind spirited. Very disappointed that it took my partner and I so long to go there. By far one of the best places in Sydney.
Amazing food. Wonderful and friendly staff. Beautiful views. Surprisingly well-priced considering the obvious effort that is put into each meal. Would definitely go again and would encourage everyone to try this phenomenal restaurant.
Not really that impressed. Ok the view was nice and the decor. However service was not the best. Very junior staff with no real supervision.Meals and drinks going to wrong tables with no apologies.Waited ages to be served whilst a table that came in 15minutes after us got served first. Then trying to catch the eye of a server , heads down.Menu not that exciting to be honest and food average .Disappointed actually after hearing such good things about it .
Lovely spot on the terrace great views to the city and food was good too.Ordered scallops which we ate prior to steak and omg so so good. A range of boutique beers available on tap. Very pleasant.
Absolutely outstanding! The views over the city are stunning and the food was delicious. My favourite the scallops and baked Camembert. This would be such a great venue for a significant event, a birthday , engagement party or particularly a wedding. There has been a lot of thought and care put into the menu and wine selection too.
Had lunch here today and the food was incredible! Everything was delicious but you absolutely have to try the roasted camembert - worth every damn calorie!!! The decor is beautiful and service friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!!
The food was absolutely amazing, the grilled octopus salad was definitely a great pick! However our experience would have been much more enjoyable if the staff wasn’t asking as 7 time if we finished with the dishes when we clearly still had a lot of food left on them and cutlery wasn’t place in the way it would indicate that we finished eating. We would understand checking on us once it twice but we literally had to tell staff every 15 minutes that we are till eating.
My meal did not come. I ordered lamb loin as main course and some sour dough bread. The waitress asked did I want both courses to come out at the same time. I said no. Id like the bread while I wait for the main. After 25 minutes I asked where is my main? The waitress said its probably out soon. After 40 minutes I asked where is my main? I ordered it pink so it Should Not Take Long To Cook!I said others who arrived after me have their dinners. The waitress said it will be soon..Then 10 minutes the waitress said sorry, my dinner had been put on HOLD waiting till I finished my first course. I asked twice where is my dinner and the waitress did a poor job of asking the kitchen. In fact I think she never asked the kitchen.Poor effort. The manager was not interested about this. I cancelled my dinner. I paid for the sour dough which came toasted and thin. I expected fresh and medium thick slices.I noticed prices of entrees are $18 + and mains are $38 +.Very expensive.
The venue is great, food is very disappointing.Food is below average, portions are not satisfying, and the price is well above average.Fries had way too much salt.Angus beef was not properly cooked - too dry and overcooked for medium rare.Lamb roast had everything to be delicious, but the meat was not properly cooked.A shame, really pleasant place. Will come back for a drink, but never back for food.
Disappointing. Booked weeks ahead for special family occasion, requested table not near band as we had elder age person. On arrival they offered us the table right next to the band or one of the booths, still near band. Asked if other table avail in among where most patrons seated but were told they couldn’t put tables together. Obviously had to choose booth which was not ideal for 7 - squeezed in and the people at one end could not converse with people at other end - each time someone needed to get out everyone had to get up & out to let them out. Food & service fine & staff lovely but then at bill time - told we’d be charged 5% extra for splitting bill!
The rating is for new menu only. Went last night for the burger, which was heavy with beef, had no salad except a slice of tomato and was completely overwhelmed by the use of truffle aioli. The chips didn’t escape a drenching either. The burger used to be really good and made with fresh salad.
Great rooftop bar, lovely to sit out in the sun and have a cocktail! Food and drinks were all really lovely.
Amazing trendy place, lovely views, nice food and great vibe. Highly recommended
Great venue for any occasions, especially corporate events and birthdays! It has a simply but very delicious menu for both food and drinks. Just love it! The place was decorated with lots of plants and it has plenty of sunlight falling through the glass windows and roof. It fells like an indoor garden and you will feel very relaxed as soon as you enter the restaurant. Highly recommended this place!
Great position and view. Awesome atmosphere inside and out. BUT food is below average and considering its association with the kirribilli club and the good quality food they have its a shocker.I would go for a drink and leave the food well alone. It’s a shame because this place should have better quality food and it would be full full full. The cod was like a biscuit it was so microwaved and overcooked, it also had a water layer around the mash. The kids fish and chip had several semi “off” leaves with it.Steak was tastyThe chicken burger was the wrong order which they easily refunded but not ideal.
The Fernery is beautifully decorated with both cosy intimate spaces and more open shared dining spaces. The staff are lovely and happy to take time to talk through the comprehensive menu. The food is fresh, delicious and beautifully plated. The only *very small* down side is that this gorgeous restaurant is attached to an RSL club, so you have to either come with a member for sign up ($10 for a year, so not really a problem...).
Yummy food , and great ambiance. Very surprised with the decor up stairs, so many lovely green plants, soft music etc , will be back soon for sure, highly recommend to try
Beautiful venue with a relaxing outdoor rooftop seating and friendly staff. The food was quite good but nothing amazing. I do recommend the scallops entree and the burrata though. The overall experience was very pleasant.
Thursday night was a delicious pasta special with a glass or wine and choice of desert included all for $28 - amazing value and the staff are super friendly and efficient
I’ve attended this venue a few times and anyone has enjoyed their time there. Not a huge fan of rose but their “Dolly”rose is on point with some food from the menu, thanks. The business would excel more if the young team members were customer focused instead of congregating together having a laugh in front of customers or looking at their personal phones of the floor.
Great lunch spot on the rooftop. Nice ambience and fantastic views. I had the fried chicken burger which was amazing! Try the sweet potato fries.
The food here is great. Beautiful views from the roof top balcony.
Lovely spot and the food is always really good here. I like the setting and atmosphere.Great for a girls lunch
Great location, beautifully renovated, delicious menu and friendly service.Roof top dining is lovely, great views!Highly recommend.
Really nice place. Parking around the area is a little bit annoying, but just be prepared to walk a bit to get here. The staff were very accommodating for our large group. No bookings, so get here early if you want a good spot, in the air con if youre coming in the warmer months. The glass top gets the place real warm.
Went for a later lunch around 4pm.When we sat down, no staff came to ask if we need anything. There weren’t too many customers at that moment so it was not a problem of understaffed. No menu or cutlery on table. When we got the menu, the waitress still didn’t bring any cutlery. Later the same waitress brought over food, with NO cutlery, so we HAD to ask for them. The kingfish was over cooked with a suspicious rotten tomato (see picture). I could taste the burnt flavour. The overall setting and the view is good. But wouldn’t come again.
