Classic Victorian styling is given a funky edge at this cocktail venue with a pizza menu.
Great brunch, lovely time and amazing drinks :)
Tacky, sticky floors, not clean, rude staff , overrated cocktails, will not be coming back
Great place to visit.Very welcoming.Managed to get a table with out reservation on a Saturday night.Well made, presented and tasty cocktails.
Loved it here good atmosphere and the cocktails were good as well we have now been a few times
Worst drink ever. Ordered the “Karma Chameleon”, it just tasted like lemon juice with purple color - no alcohol whatsoever in it. Plus, the bartender just forgot that she had to prepared them and took half an hour to bring it.The waiter was friendly though and place has a nice decoration/music.
Came here for the mumma Mia brunch with my bests mate, was so good! Good and drinks and music was 100/100
Loved the vibe for a date night. Defo a nice chilled place to go for cocktails.
I don’t usually leave reviews but I’ve never had an experience like this in London before…the staff were rude and there was a 20 min wait at the bar where you’ll find staff throwing ice and water at each other and at customers as they blew whistles. I get if a bar wants to create a fun and playful environment but it wasn’t either of those things. But if you do manage to tolerate all of the above and you and your friends have decided to pay for more overpriced sugary cocktails, at midnight you’ll find the security staff blowing whistles and telling you to leave immediately at closing (even though you have a full drink you waited 20 mins to pay forand if you’re the first one out, don’t bother waiting for the rest of your friends because the security staff will tell you to “keep walking”.In short, the bar doesn’t care about the customer experience.
This would be my second time visiting this particular bar in the past couple of months and it was really just a confirmation that I won’t be returning again. The staff are quite rude, I get it’s a fun environment but stopping right in the middle of a customer talking to you to order to throw ice and mess about is a little rude especially when it’s consistently happening. On 3 occasions the drinks orders were wrong, ordered a negroni, given wrong drink, ordered whisky doubles, given single Jamesons, ordered 4 Estella - given 4 Peroni (we all switched to bottled beer because the service was that bad.)The cocktails the negroni that wasn’t a negroni and the old fashioned were up with some of the worst I’ve ever had. Generally the place is sticky floor sticky tables vibes. It was bad on both occasions but it was so bad the second time I won’t be returning. There are plenty of decent bars in the area, this isn’t one of them.
I can’t figure this place out or what sort of feel it’s going for: nice cocktail bar; or fun, regular joint. Don’t think it hits either market particularly well. More positively, the staff were friendly & happy to chat occasionally.
Just wow!! I can’t recommend this place more; the staff are so friendly, the drinks are so delicious and Yasmin and Vish were absolutely incredible!!!
This is the second time Ive visited this bar (I always like to give places the benefit of the doubt). I visited last night (Saturday eveningand had one of the worst experiences at a London bar; reasons as follows:- I ordered 2 double whiskies - the amount poured wasnt even in each- Bar staff are rude- They are incredible slow (it took 25 mins to get served with 5 bar staff and a tiny queue - the staff care more about throwing ice at each other and being on their phones- I am all for people enjoying their work and laughing/joking around, but when you have 5 bar staff not making any drinks and making personal jokes it is all a bit sillyThis is the second time I have experienced these sorts of things and I wont be returning and would urge others to also visit anywhere apart from here.
I booked a table for 3 people last night. Our age range was from 18 to 63 and we all agreed that the service was terrible! The guy on the door couldn’t find our booking and was quite off-hand to my daughter. My friend waited 25 minutes to be served at the bar while the bar staff seemed more interested in having a water fight and throwing ice at one another. The cocktails were nothing special. The seating uncomfortable. First and last time for us!
Awful cocktails - Had to ask for a different one to be made and the replacement was just as bad - tasted very synthetic/chemical, definitely do not use fresh ingredients).Weird atmosphere (1800s-esque theme, with tacky & loud 90s/noughties music playing, and flashing disco lights). Generally unfriendly staff and all tables seemed to be dirty (I cleared our table and brought old customers glasses to the bar myself). Do not recommend.
One star and thats only for the drag queen & singers. NOT worth it!Attended the Mamma Mia brunch on the afternoon 3rd September to celebrate my friends birthday.Unfortunately it wasn’t just one or two errors worthy of complaint. We were seated in an area next to a large birthday group who couldn’t even fit on their table properly meaning we couldn’t sit properly (there were only 3 of us). The waitress told us it wasn’t her problem but eventually helped us move the tables along but it was certainly cramped. The alcohol eventually arrived after a very long time and one of the jugs had dead flies in it. When we brought that to the attention of staff members the bar staff laughed and said they would replace it but we were then ignored until we had to go to the bar and request a refill on two more occasions. The performers were the only saving grace for the whole performance but we only had one refill during the entire brunch which given it is advertised as bottomless is frankly ridiculous. We had ordered our food as soon as we sat down (just after 3pm). When the first half of the performance ended, we were informed food would arrive in the break and the second half would then begin. The second half began and we and a number of other tables still did not have our food. We had enquired and the staff told us it was a small kitchen, which given we had ordered over an hour and a half before, and you book the events out knowing numbers, is not a good enough excuse. It was not until the end of the second half at 4:55 that we asked the bar again where our food was. The table next to us and all other tables we could see had theirs (though many had issues with food and had been given an extra bottle of Prosecco). We asked the bar for food and a bottle of Prosecco and were informed the bottomless had ended at 4:30pm but we had been given no warning and very little alcohol. The bar staff proceeded to be incredibly rude. It was only when we requested a manager that a Prosecco bottle was provided but with no excuse as to the food. The food eventually arrived and was terrible. The portions were small and nothing like advertised. It was presented looking like it was half eaten. The venue was clearly understaffed, the quality of food was extremely poor, drinks were few and far between, and the staff were rude. Considering the average bottomless brunch in London is around £35, and this cost just under £60 pp, it was definitely not worth the money.Dont waste your time!
Cute venue, the concept is very attractive. Staff is friendly and helpful. Drinks are good. Could be better if some food options were offered. It can get a bit crowded.
I have to say this is now one my favourite bars in London. They have a great selection of cocktails and if you cant see your one on the menu, ask the bar staff. The music and bar staff are great.A special shout out to Kevin, amazing member of the team. Give this guy a raise!See you guys soon !
Cool vibe but the cocktails are way too sweet. Good if you dont like the taste of liquor I guess.
I had a great experience here! The bar was amazing. It had a different and unique appearance that is something you have to see! Kevin was the bartender that poured my drinks. He was exceptional! I had a great conversation with him. Drinks were well poured and well made. Would highly recommend! Also, it was affordable!
Nice place for a couple of drinks and a date maybe.Decent drinks. Great staff. Cosy rooms downstairs. It was fully booked when we tried to reserve a table but they had a lot of tables for drop in.Seen reviews complaining about the music but didn’t think about it. Perfect for a drink and a chat!
Feels more like a club than a cocktail bar, blasting cheesy music on speakers directly above the tables. Drinks not great either, staff nice though.
Lots of attentive staff , nice decor .High tables a little bit wobbly and the music a little bit too loud for 6pm in a Friday.. but to get to the important bitThe cocktails were great and the two-for-one happy hour made it 4 cocktails for £22 - very agreeable
First impression: fun vibe nice place. After waiting over 30 minutes to get served, watching the bartender enjoy for drinks before getting around to serving me, despite me firefighting to get eye contact, I started feeling like wow, is my whole night going to be spent waiting at this bar to get served
Went here last night and a member of staff was incredibly rude to me. He was a ginger man working behind the bar, who was supposedly pouring us double G&Ts... which were most definitely not doubles. When I mentioned that one of the three drinks was more of a single than a double, he didnt just say "no I think it is a double" or "oh sorry Ill make that one a bit stronger"... he bluntly told me to "stop being cheap."Im not one to complain about serving staff (as I know its a very tough job), but his reply was so unprofessional and personal, I felt it needed to be addressed. Even if he did "just want to go smoke a cigarette" (as he mentioned several times to others behind the bar), its no excuse to treat patrons like how he did.Would not recommend this place and I will not be going back here again.
This is a cocktail bar, none of the ingredients are fresh even egg white comes out of a container which is produced outside of the U.K… I felt sick in the morning and can not say for sure this was down to the cocktails, however only had beer prior..To top it off, experienced total lack of customer service/appreciation from the manager, he even refused to charge my iPhone which I really needed. I spent well over £100 a round on a Thursday night, it was pretty quite in this place. He lied about not having a charger, after the hardworking and polite staff were trying to assist. He literally was arrogant and didn’t even acknowledge me when I was speaking to him…. Would have appreciated him saying we can not do this as it’s against our policy. This would have saved me a whole lot of trouble.. oh well I’m not spending another penny here again.. a shame as we had a office night out here not long ago and had a good night out having simple drinks, which helped I suppose. Won’t be visiting here again purely down to manager arrogance.
Surprisingly empty tonight on a Saturday night but amazing vibe nevertheless and great music. Cocktails were made to a high standard - highly recommended.
Bit disappointed following last nights visit. When we arrived it was very quiet but we werent welcomed in and in the end a guy had to actually say oh, I work here. Got a table that was really sticky! 80% of the cocktails I ordered they didnt have the ingredients for and whilst the bar staff were adequately polite I didnt see a smile from any of them once, they really looked like they didnt want to be there! Cocktails we did have were really yummy but quite expensive especially for some of the smaller ones. Really liked the music.
Mamma Mia bottomless Brunch.Appalling. Oversold. Dreadful. Dull. No purpose. Not fun at all as it portrait on their website. You only go there if you want to get drunk.Embarrassed to have brought mu wife for her birthday.Spend your money in nicer bars.
The place is very atmospheric and on theme. Drinks are great on happy hour and Arvy and Alex really made our night!!
Really strange concept based on creepy old secret societies. Pretty interesting and fun experience.Great drinks! I recommend for those looking for something different in London! Right next to Seven Dials Market!
Disappointing and underwhelming. Not what was advertised. Was expecting Victorian decor and a speak easy vibe, but this was completely overshadowed by the black light and pop music that was way too loud, had to shout at friends sitting next to me to be heard. Bar service is so slow and none of the staff looked like they wanted to be there, let alone bother serving us. I booked a table a month in advance and still had to wait at the door for 20 minutes while others were allowed in ahead of us. Cocktails were mediocre and mostly ice.
Bartenders are rude and will serve lots of other customers in front of you if they think you’re not the right clientele. Cocktails are watered down, my friends and I all ordered the same cocktails but they all come looking and tasting completely different. Sometimes make cocktails away from your view so you’re not sure what you’re getting.
Anytime I visit I have an amazing experience, all due to the amazing staff and incredible cocktails. Its definitely a bar you need to see at least once
Love the quirky cocktails and especially Happy hour! Disappointed that they no longer serve food 😕
Loved the ABBA bottomless brunch! The atmosphere was great although I think the singers arrived late for our sitting. One thing that could definitely be improved is the food though! There were only four options and it arrived on a single use plastic tray - a plate would be much more environmentally friendly.
The name and decor do not match the vibe/music.We visited as we were expecting a quirky/stylish bar, however it is more of a generic busy bar playing pop music with staff throwing ice at the ceiling. It was a little disappointing
Great underground cocktail bar in such a brilliant location. The cocktails are all lovely and so interesting! The happy hour is a great deal and the staff are super fun. The music is always great - a mix of throwback anthems and new music too. I can’t wait to try out the sister locations!
Cocktails were okay. Bar was great and ambiance was great. On the website, google updates & social media it says happy hour is until 7pm on Monday but we were told it was until 6pm in December only after our drinks were made so very disappointed with that. Be careful if going for the happy hour.
Arrived at 7pm on a Thursday. No one at the front to greet or shown to the table.Music was extremely loud for so early in the evening. Could hardly hear ourselves think.Cocktails were fine albeit overpriced. Can imagine this is more fun later in the evening but if you are looking for good cocktails and to have good conversation after work / before dinner. This isn’t the place.
Wonderful little bar with upbeat super friendly staff. Happy hour til 7pm was great for fun cocktails. Music was a little loud & booking system unclear but once you’re in, it’s a fun night!
I LOVE this place! Oodles of style and fabulous cocktails. Happy Hour is a MUST! Can highly recommend the Razzle Dazzle cocktail!
This bar is a hidden gem, it’s so welcoming and super friendly. I went here twice over the the weekend while having a girls break in London, all the staff from the doormen and bar staff couldn’t do enough for us.When we arrived one night it was standing room only which is totally fine, but they soon found us a table when one became available. The cocktails are to die for, the bar staff have a great sense of humour and the atmosphere is brilliant.Olga, you deserve this credit you are so lovely, myself and my friend will be back soon.Highly recommend bar if you are in the area.
Nice welcoming atmosphere, super friendly & talented mixologists & to top it off delicious cocktails. Definitely visit here & go during happy hour.
One of those places you come across accidentally and you feel like your evening is off to a great start! Amazing drinks and ambience. But its the staff that makes the difference with a smile and a friendly chat. Huge thank you to Austi for looking after us! Definitely coming back next time Im in London ☺
The best bar in London! I had the pleasure to come to the Escapologist few times and always had an amazing time. The place is magical, its vibe is great, drinks are delicious but the staff is what makes it so special. They are fun, witty, welcoming and always make sure to deliver the best experience. I was served on few occasions by Olga and every time she took care of me and my friends up to the highest standard. I will come back and without doubt recommend the Escapologist to everyone because in my opinion it truly is THE place to be on the evening out in London.
Lovely cocktails for a reasonable price. Friendly and hard working staff.Quirky underground bar.
Went here for a drink after the theatre with my daughter and some of her friends and we had a wonderful experience. The bartenders were extremely friendly and made us some delicious cocktails and also encouraged us to try new cocktails that Id never had before! I really liked the style of this oldschool speak-easy bar. Will definitely come back and would recommend to others.
Sadly didnt have a great experience here, booked a table beforehand and when at the entrance we were faced by a bodyguard who didnt say anything so asked if we go straight down the stairs and told no, with a rather rude exchange he then found our booking and after a short wait were directed downstairs. Greeted downstairs by a friendly lady and taken to our booth which was divided by a screen to share with another group which was uncomfortable and likely had little effect, we got our drinks from the package we booked quickly and our waiter was very funny and friendly, cocktails nice too but very sweet. There was a group nearby who were being really loud and aggressive and could barely hear anything with the music also being too loud and conveniently all the staff had disappeared, the group then managed to rip one of the screens off a nearby table so we decided to leave before it escalated further. Really hoped for a better experience having heard good things but it felt more like a bar trying to be a club without dancing and it just doesnt work.
A Quirky and fun venue. Bar staff are friendly and accommodating. Cocktails are tasty and they have skittle flavoured vodka shots which are yum! Espresso martini is goooood - Im always on the hunt for a proper espresso martini and found one to add to my very short list! Great tunes belting out as well to add to the mix :we wandered around and found the quieter booth areas too which are lovely little hideaways where you can have a conversation as well as still enjoy the music. Will definitely be booking those for next time! But if its the full volume you want, the main bar area is where its at! :)
The drinks and staff are amazing, especially our bar maid Tsveta, she was so lovely and helpful 😍 can’t wait to come back!!
