The Empanada Joint - Argentinian restaurant in Missoula, United States
Love the empanadas here. Need 2 to make a meal, which gives you a reason to try more than one. I got the chicken (from a recommendation from the woman behind the counterand a pork sausage empanada -- both were full of flavor and spicier than I expected. Pastry crust was perfectly done -- Im more familiar with the Chilean version, but these were at least as good!
Very friendly atmosphere. The empanadas were excellent - tasty and surprisingly good mixes. Definitely a place for a good and filling lunch.
Owner was delightful and the empanadas were scrumptious. Would recommend to anyone who loves food.
This place is wonderful - the owners are so friendly and accommodating. Two empanadas might not feel like enough food, but if you eat a little slow you will get full! Beet and goat cheese is my personal favorite. Dont skip out on the yummy dessert options!
THE EMPANADA JOINT. Really good! Will come back!
A simple garden salad took 30 minutes. Empanadas we’re good though.
I was suspicious. What the hell is an empanada? Boy am I glad I went to find out. This place is so good I was stunned. I love empanadas! Who knew? Not me.Hit them early at lunchtime. You can usually catch a couple breakfast empanadas to go with the lunch selections.Edit: and as an update to this review, Ive been to BA Argentina! I had more empanadas! The Empanada Joint wins, these are legit. Not "as good as" the real deal. They are the real deal. Ps. More chimi pls.
Good but expensive. $6 per empanada
Picked up empanadas on my way home from work. The place was empty and service friendly and fast. Empanadas were already made with a nice selection. We tried pork, chicken and chorizo. All were very good and heated up well in the oven
Simple and delicious. We split the fresh beef and a spinach and both were amazing. The side salad was nice and fresh and crisp also. Definitely a go to!
Definitely worth a visit. We were only in town for a couple days and we noticed this charming restaurant, with gluten free options. My husband spent some time in Argentina, and the flavors brought him right back there. I ordered the gluten free beet and goat cheese empanada and the sweet potato fries. Just such a great flavor combination! This is comfort food. The staff was also great. If we lived in Missoula, I’m sure we would make this place a regular stop.
Great service, delicious food!
The empanada joint is definitely a special place in Missoula. Very delicious empanadas, plus the folks that work there seem to have a great attitude and are committed to keeping a good and clean restaurant. Its not too pricey and if you dont like the price tag, just know that what you pay for here is certainly worth it. Latin- and south- american fare is hard to come by in Missoula, but these folks nail it.I tried 4 different flavors of empanada, and they all were delicious. The empanadas are baked, not fried, so you dont feel like you consumed a bunch of oil after eating them. Also tried the sweet potato fries, which were cooked to perfection. They also have gluten free and vegan options.I would argue that the empanada joint is one of the best places to eat in Missoula. I will definitely come back for more.
Delicious food. Welcoming and attentive staff.
The Empanada Joint is hands down one of my favorite restaurants (and food trucksin Missoula. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu, the sauces are as fantastic as the empanadas, and the service is always warm and friendly. 12/10 all around :)
This is one of my favorite spots in Missoula. Everything on the menu is full of flavor and tastes fresh and homemade. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful, the vibe is cheerful, and the day-old frozen empanadas are a great deal for a take-and-bake option. Start with the empanadas but don’t sleep on the chicken milanesa or the carrot ginger soup. So good!
Gawd expensive then after I ordered saw was overcharged
This place has great flavors. There is something for everyone in my family when we enjoy their delicious empanadas. The owner holds herself and her staff to a high standard so the service is always fantastic and the food is always on point. The restaurant is always clean and has a cheery vibe to it. I highly recommend!
First timers to the Empanada Joint food truck, and it was amazing! Made for a great bite to grab at Great Burn. I got the Mannix beef and the beet with goat cheese empanadas, so savory! The service was wonderful and the people lovely, looking forward to going back.
I havent been to the restaurant yet but the vegetarian empanadas from their food truck were delicious and authentic; I cant wait to go back!
I used to eat here a lot when they first opened before I had to go gluten free. I was really sad when I had to quit eating there. Recently I found out they have gluten free!!! Im so excited and happy I can eat here again!
way overpriced for the size of the empanadas. please go back to original size when you opened!
Product was good but way overpriced!
Discovered this place about 3 or 4 years ago and have to stop here every time we visit Missoula. Got to meet the owner tonight, Solange, what a pleasure it was to chat with her! I highly recommend eating there or take to go! Love these empanadas! Beef is my favorite!
This is a hidden gem in downtown Missoula, MT! All the Empanadas are made daily by the friendly staff. Unique soups complement any meal. This is one of my favorite stops!!
Amazing restaurant. I love the empanadas and the sides that are offered are healthy and super yummy! 🙂
The foods pretty good, butbas others have noted, its pretty expensive for what you get.I thought the take and bake were slightly cheaper, but found they cost just add much.
Loved the beets and goat cheese empanada, the beef empanada, and butter nut squash soup😋 The young lady who helped us was friendly and awesome ❣ Thank you⚘
The food is good here. If you are looking for something different try it out you wont be disappointed. I had the spinach and chicken empanada. The spinach one was my favorite. I also had the potatoes and vegetables as a side and they were pretty good. The empanadas are a little bit on the small side but the sides portion of potatoes made up for that.
Decent empanada, where the crust is the star. Somewhat overpowers the fillings in terms of bulk and flavor. A bit pricey
The food is overpriced for what you get. Flavors are good. Empanadas are the size of appetizers, not entrees!
Some of the empanadas were ok. Not all of them. The soup was incredible. Extremely disappointed about how little food I got for almost $35. Used uber eats to order and to be frank, it was an absolute ripoff. Either change portion size or adjust price. And yes I know empanadas are small. These are miniature.
Authentic, with an awesome flair. We eat here every time we are in Missoula and always take some frozen to make at home. A must for us as well is a jar of her freshly made chimichurri sauce!!!
Pastry and soups were good. The restaurant was clean
The most amazing woman owns the place. Theres gluten free options, and I would highly recommend going here for anytime of the day.
I love empanadas. They are one of my favorite foods. The empanadas here were delicious. The fillings were varied and flavorful and the the crusts were flakey and just the right amount of sweet.
Always enjoy their empanadas! Great recipes for a low price!
This place has some very delicious flavors. I like all of the empanadas and would recommend trying each of them at least once. The empanadas are always very hot which is great, but be careful with your first bite. Their flan is also very good. The dining area is always clean and nicely kept. They play good music. Check it out!
Drawn in by the promise of Fifa World Cup telecast all day, we discovered the best empanadas in a small downtown Missoula shop. Ive had empanadas before, bone-dry as a desert. These were exceptional, they came fresh out of the oven when we ordered the chicken, pork and beet goat cheese with all three dipping sauces. The dipping sauces -- chimichurri, spicy red and creamy sour cream white -- enhanced the empanadas. But these baked goodies taste awesome on their own, flakey, flavorful fillings, just yum. The proprietor served us, cheered on her favorite Brazilian team, chatted up repeat customers like family and gave us a delightful mini-tour of her Argentinian menu. Definitely make room for the sweet specials like the lemon shortbread cookies with dulce de leche filling.
Pretty good, but I feel it is overpriced for what you get. I think if I go back it will only be to get frozen day-old empanadas, which seem like the correct price/value balance. The worker was very friendly though, and I appreciate that they have gluten free options.
My girlfriend and I decided to go in and grab a bite for a spur of the moment lunch because we didnt have anything to pack for lunch. The empanadas were amazing! the chicken and pork are definitely the way to go, I also highly encourage the chimichurri sauce and the white. The white sauce compliments the chicken empanada very well, and the chimichurri sauce was just good on everything. They also had a red spicy one that Ill get next time I go, they also have empanadas that you can take home and bake which is really awesome if you just want to have a small gathering of friends. I believe the owner is the lady that helped us and she seemed like a real genuine person and someone you should do business with, she defiantly has the opportunity to become a downtown staple.
Great empanadas, just a little pricey for the size
I order from here off of Uber eats. Its really tasty, I loved the tomato basil empanada. It has good prices with good quality
Love this place. The empanadas are delicious. They have awesome desserts, soup (carrot soup is yummyand a green salad available too. They even have homemade kale chips. Theres a great assortment of vegetarian empanadas. They have frozen day-old empanadas as a discount, which is a great deal. I stock up when Im in Missoula. The Empanada Joint is very conveniently located in the heart of downtown Missoula. Its just a bit hard to spot so look for the sign on the corner of Higgins and Main and you will know you are close.
We are lucky to have this place in Missoula. One of the only places in town Im willing to spend money to eat at. Recommend the beef empanada!
Nice, clean, colorful place. Good food, takeout available. Counter staff were helpful and friendly. Empanadas were ready to eat, they were fresh. One of my party ordered a ham and cheese, waited about 10 minutes for fresh to come out of the oven, perfect timing, it came to the table just as there soup was finished. They could use an bell on front door to tell if a customer walked in. We watched a customer leave after waiting a few minutes for them to come out of the back food prep area.
While the portions seem small for the price I find that the love and time that goes into the product more than makes up for it. Absolutely amazing, I tell everyone to eat there at least once. I am a hard core carnivore and the spinach and cheese (vegetarianis legit one of my favorite menu items.
The crust alone is worth coming here for. The pork sausage empanadas are amazing!!! We tried a beat and goat cheese one, not regularly beet fans but LOVED this. 😍 Will definitely be back!
Amazing! Welcoming restaurant with great comfort food and good prices. Locally sourced meat and just as many or more vegetarian options. I loved the music and the owner Solange was lovely! She takes so much pride in the food she makes. This is going to be a regular stop for my family!
Great tasting food, but portions are small, especially for the price. Reduce prices or make the empanadas even just a bit larger and I would go back and give 5 stars.
