The East Room Restaurant | Plassey House in Limerick

A little pricey but fantastic experience 👏

We went to the East Room as a group of 4 on Saturday Oct 8th, we had an excellent experience and were well looked after by our host Vincenzo and waiter Mathew, who was a great laugh and kept the evening fun. The food and wine was delicious with a great dining atmosphere. We look forward to returning again.

Such a gorgous restaurant with excellent menu-the souffle was truly amazing---cant wait to return-Service was so attentive with great choice of nice wines-reasonably priced!

Beautiful restaurant. We dined at the East Room which is a Michelin guide rated restaurant but could easily earn a star or two one of these days.Ambiance was old school, elegant and ornate without being garish. Service was friendly, hospitable, knowledgeable and efficient.Food offerings were excellent. Right from the North County and sourdough breads made in-house served with house churned butter to the after dinner petit-fours. Everything in between was thoughtfully prepared, artistically presented demonstrating mastery of the arts.Standouts were the lobster ravioli appetizer that had a unique citrus quality that complemented the protein. The stand out entrée was the beef short rib. Delectable, tender and generously portioned. This was accompanied by lovely roast baby potatoes and a charred cabbage wedge that had been previously fermented like a kimchi or a sauerkraut.Dessert didn’t let down either. Passion fruit soufflé was text book. My chocolate bar was creamy chocolate mouse topped with a ganache sitting atop a crunchy base that had notes of chocolate and browned butter. This was accompanied by a cereliac (?!ice cream which somehow worked.Our head server suggested an amazing 2021 Rose that we shared at the table. It was complex, cool and crisp. The bottle was priced at a very reasonable price point as well.The restaurant unfortunately doesn’t do cocktails but they crafted a lovely drink for our daughter made with cassis cream and Prosecco that was lovely.Overall, highly recommend the meal experience here.

Nice introduction to modern fine dining, 5 or 6 well judges courses, lovely surroundings and nice staff, fair value, great for a special occasion.

Celebrated a special occasion with a delicious and luxurious lunch. Will go back for dinner. Lunch exceeded our expectations with food quality, service and convenience. We made an online reservation the day before for 12:30 Sunday. Received confirmation immediately. Sunday was quiet at the University as they are shutting down next week for staff Annual Leave break.Vincenzo and Holly took care of us. Both were so warm and personable that we felt at ease and so relaxed in this historic setting. Pace was perfect. Menu changes daily but offered 3 choices for each course from vegetarian, fish and meat. This restaurant is a gem. Go early and you may be lucky like us to initially have the restaurant and staff to yourself.

Highly recommend the Eastroom! Food and service was exceptionally good. We were company of 5 and non of us was disappointed. Its a must go restaurant if you are in Limerick.

Fantastic food in an amazing setting. The tasting menu was reasonably priced and I felt on par with some 1 star Michelin restaurants. Vincenzo the manager was very professional, pleasant, and clearly passionate about his job. Will be back.

I can’t say enough good things about my dining experience here. The food was delicious, and the service was wonderful. Mr. Vincenzo Del Santo, the manager, was so personable & always made sure us, & every table there, was doing well. His passion shines through him. I highly recommend dining here if given the chance. The building is beautiful & the service, plus the great food, makes for a magical experience.

We went for an evening meal the food was absolutely lovely. The staff were very courteous and attentive. Id highly recommend the East Room. Weve been here a few times recently and in my opinion this place serves the best food in limerick, if not Munster.

It was my first time dining in this restaurant and I really enjoyed it.The portions were tiny but the food was incredible. The menu was unique and I have not tried anything like it before.I was really glad to go there.I recommend !

As always, the guys make you feel so welcome from the minute you walk through the door. Tasting menu was a delight and I could have eaten my bodyweight in the Johnstone beef & beef dashi.Thanks again for another mouth watering dining experience. Carrie & Ash.

I have eaten here twice and both times have been amongst the best dining experiences I have had. Food is phenomenal, staff are second to none and the setting is perfect. Words dont do this justice, it is a must experience for anyone who can!

Charlie and John welcomed us to the amazing surroundings of the east room where we spent the most fabulous Sunday afternoon. The very exciting wine list included a gem of a blaufrankisch from Judith beck which complimented the exquisite talents of Derek the head chef. With a sunday 3 course menu at €35 I would strongly suggest visiting here as soon as you can to experience one of the best that munster has to offer and treat yourself and those close to you to a very memorable dinning experience at an exceptional price. I eagerly anticipate my next visit! Thanks to all at the East room!

This place is amazing. Beautiful building, relaxed atmosphere, excellent staff, 5 star service, delicious food...couldnt have asked for better! Already planning our next return visit. Highly, highly recommend!

We had a lovely meal here. The service was really excellent, the food was delicious and the setting and atmosphere were enjoyable. The restaurant has the feel of a country house (which isnt surprising), but located so close to the city. It has a relaxed quality, which you wouldnt always get these days. Given the quality, the prices were reasonable.

Absolutely amazing dining experience. First class food and service impeccable. No problem with social distancing. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic evening. Staff were outstanding, especially a waiter named Paul. He made us feel so welcome and was on point with everything. Food was incredible.

Wow. What a gem.Had some time to spare while in the area, decided to pop in for some grub.At first when I looked around thought "what have I done Im going to be out a fortune", but I glanced at the menu and to my surprise the prices are extremely modest when you consider the quality and experience.I had a few glasses of delicious wine and the steak.Boy, is it good when a steak is cooked right. Juicy, tender and a funky kick from the short rib.To my surprise I was given some sorbet, excellent bread and like snacks.Staff where lovely too,Absolute Gem. Im coming back to Limerick just to eat here again.

Five stars for the food. Went for graduation lunch and while the menu was lacking in choice (2 options!?!everything that was brought out was delicious. Would have loved some more variety though and a simple option for kids. Very inflexible in that regard. My eldest basically ate potatoes and nothing else. Surely a bowl of pasta could have been thrown together without much fuss?The food is of Michelin standard but the finer details and service required for that star are lacking. For instance, tables being left filthy for ages after patrons left, or waiters just not serving with proper fine-dining etiquette (ladies first, serve from left etc).Having said all that we will definitely be back for dinner, the food is exquisite.

I visited the East Room on Saturday for a private party lunch. The food was excellent and all the staff were very attentive and service was very good. Venue great. All in all a great day was had by all. Highly recommend for any special event .. JOD

Very enjoyable meal in such a beautiful and historic building with top service and exceptional food. We booked a table to celebrate a family christening and the manager Joe could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. Id highly recommend for private bookings. Thanks again Joe and team!

I really wanted to give 4.5 stars as I love the place. I have been there 3 times with my family. Even though its on the expensive side we thing its well worth it for the decadence which we love. The food however is a bit slow in coming and on all 3 occasions was a tad bit salty. We will be back. Love the staff and that one ginger waiter should be on Irelands got Talent...Lol. lovely voice. Thanks for singing the birthday song....hahaha!

Have eaten here twice, first time was very enjoyable with great quality fresh food, the second visit however was disappointing. Food is great quality and the starters were lovely but the main course (Risottowas exceptionally salty. All other guests enjoyed their food (Beef and Hake). Had to remind them of a drinks order that we did not get. Hopefully it was an off day when someone added salt when it had already been added!!

For a beautiful and delicious dinning experience go to The East Room Restaurant in University of Limericks historic White House. The food is exquisite, the staff are lovely, the room is spacious and you aresurrounded by beautiful art hanging from the walls. I just wish I knew about this gem sooner.

What a treat, fabulous food, service location. How did we not know about the East Room before. Great to have a fine dining experience in Limerick. Loved the squid ink macaroons, the succulent venison and the cheese platter. 7 stars.

Food is excellent, service good, setting nice old house with high ceilings, cornice etc. Some nice art on the walls also. Could do with better directions on website and actual onsite!!
