The Downtown Farm Stand in Muncie

The 3 stars is on customer service alone. Our bill was well over $100 and it was not worth it. Theres not much to choose from on the menu to eat. Most of the menu was full of wine and alcoholic beverages. I will not be returning. Just because it wasnt for me does not mean its not for you.

The Morning Breakfast Bowl was amazing. Definitely going back again and again.

The food is delicious, and I feel like the food is actually made with care. It is nice to go somewhere that is knowledgeable on how to prepare healthy, yet very tasty food. Thanks for being an option!

Best healthy food in Muncie! It is really hard to find healthy food in Muncie and nearly impossible to find good tasting healthy food here but this place hits the nail right on the head. It’s the only place I have found with vegan and gluten free options. If you do eat meat they have some of the best quality around and everything is organic and so so fresh! I have found that when I finish eating the food from this place I literally feel refreshed and ready to continue my day. The paninis are awesome. Highly recommend!!!

In a land of fast food, The Downtown Farm Stand is a breath of fresh air. What a blessing to have the option of something cleaner to eat in Muncie.

Absolutely delicious. Just hit a max effort day at the gym and ended up here for food (fuel)! We were not failed with the healthy options and the taste made our taste buds dance like it was a New Year’s Eve party! Highly recommend!

One of the best Cuban sandwiches I’ve ever had and I’ve had more than a few from Key West, Miami, and Naples. I’m glad I found this place. I’ll be back! Great lentil soup as well. Friendly and comfortable here.

Owner and or manager the "boss" that was working was very rude and the amount that they put on a loaf of bread for $14 is ridiculous... I could have spent $7 at Subway and had a much better sandwich... if youre into the vegan and just want to feel healthy than this is your place other than that... overpriced rude customer service disorganized staff.." literally falling over each other to try to find out how to make sandwich" would not recommend.....

I ordered the TBC. Great sandwich, well seasoned. On great bread. The menu is great with vegan and vegetarian options. Fresh and made to order, so 5 stars on food itself.I deduct a point because on value its a 3.Example: The fries were fantastic, however the price point is misleading - I was scratching my head and thought I got the wrong container - based on that price Id expect sharing size, vs small single size. And yes, its fresh cut- but I recently moved from larger city, travel among coastal cities, so not comparing to a "chain co". Rather, based on similar places with organic hand cut fries, Id love to see them drop this price about 30 percent and hopefully sell more per order... and bring more people in!Id also like to see a wider selection of beverages and sides (kettle chips, etcto make it more of a lunch draw. The other roadblock for me will be the speed - as other reviews have mentioned, its a bit on the slow side, so I will call ahead to mitigate this.In a nutshell try this as a sandwich shop - youll enjoy it, just brace yourself for the total- feels quite high in price for the same quality, even at high end cafes in much higher priced areas with cute themes. I really want them to improve and succeed and widen their clientele base! The signage didnt tell me what it was and I needed word of mouth to find it! Merely as a visitor driving past, I was not given the right impression. So definitely needs some tweaking on store layout, curated products and how theyre organized, and social media help! Visit and give feedback, I would love to see them continue to improve and enhance best practices - we need more of this type of product offering in town!Edited: after reading response below Im sad about the tone. I really try to give constructive feedback; I use reviews as a tool for expectations and to guide others who are wanting to try a new place to set expectations. For example, I knew to order ahead because the person who tried it and verbally told me it was good said it took 45 minutes to get sandwiches, so I pivoted for a work lunch hour and ordered ahead. Reviews can also be viewed as a learning opportunity (not an attack), as new customers can sometimes offer a new perspective. My confusion (was not upset just confused about whether I got the correct size of $7 fries (I thought would be sharing size for two peoplewas an honest mistake that I certainly wont make again. Yes they re made them (I did not ask for, which was nice!but my question was if I got the right size not if they weighed them- just clarifying if there were two sizes. The menu did not say size or weight, just price of $7. Again, I never criticized service. The staff generally was friendly. I never mentioned anything about the sandwich pricing. In fact anyone with complaints about those things in other reviews also seem really put down (instead of "thanks for the feedback we will consider this!"), which is part of a good and inviting social media presence. If you ever do want to be receptive to ideas from someone with a fresh perspective, extensive background in whole food organic cooking, and relevant professional background, Im happy to share. But for now good to know the motto is it just is what it is! If you are happy with sell through, scrap, foot traffic and margins exactly status quo, then totally message heard. And there is a place in the world for that too. No judgment, love and support. But... I try to always remember that even after a successful 14 years often there can be change and improvement! Build on what is good and grow to new heights. Mostly, in the response below I really feel put down personally and misunderstood, vs encouraged that management wants growth and new customer acquisition.

The 5 stars is strictly for the food. While the sandwiches are possibly the best Ive ever had, the guy that owns the place isnt the friendliest guy by any stretch, he doesnt seem like he is remotely happy about being there

Awesome small town deli with fresh local produce.

Random drop into Muncie led to an outstanding lunch experience! Fantastic food and excellent customer service. I had the "Cubano Pork Belly Panini" and it was delicious. My Girlfriend had the "Chicken Panini" and she enjoyed it as well. Dont pass up on this place, highly recommended!!!

The food was very good, but it took a while to make. Not a good place to take a young child. There is a lot to get into while you wait for food, since the tables are right near the aisles of groceries. The grocery selection looks great, but the counter food was a bit pricey and not worth the effort of entertaining a toddler for 15 minutes waiting.

Always amazing selections and seriously some of the best food Ive ever ate has been served here. You have to wait as its being prepared but that allows you to shop around at their awesome groceries! Highly recommend visiting this place!

The best lunch spot in Muncie! I love their grilled panini-style sandwiches. I like taking lunch dates there because I know its always going to be good and simple.

I have been a customer at the Downtown Farm Stand for around seven years now. I try to make it in at least once a month or so... I love the fresh bread made in the deli & almost always order the same sandwich when I get food. Due to food sensitivities, I have to modify the sandwich I like & almost every time I ask for modifications, it is made incorrectly. Today, I asked to build my own sandwich, something I was excited to try. The owner, Dave, laughed at me when I told him what I wanted & said it would be easier for them to modify the hummus & veggie sandwich, (the one I ALWAYS order but dont get made the way I want.The price difference for a Build Your Own sandwich is $4 more than the regular hummus & veggie one, so I went along with his decision & told him the mods I wanted. (I watched him write them ALL down...It took almost half an hour for mine & my co-workers food to be made, which I understand everything is made fresh so I wouldnt mind, IF it was actually made correctly. MY sandwich was made incorrectly, I had to pick the feta cheese and onions off of it, even though I requested they not be added. I didnt get the honey mustard on it that I requested. The only modification that was correct was that they added spinach. Unfortunately I was on my way to work & didnt get to enjoy my food due to how long it took to make & then having to pick the onions & feta off. So six hours later, I took my sandwich apart, pieced it back together & finally got to eat it. This was, over all a very frustrating experience. Aside from all the issues with MY sandwich, I have to say I am glad that Dave talked my co-worker into getting the vegan panini instead of trying to modify the hummus & veggie sandwich because he has a very severe dairy allergy & since I specifically asked for no cheese on mine, they probably would have messed his up as well. This means he wouldnt have been able to eat it even if we picked all the feta off. Long story short, my advice to anyone wanting to order from the deli would be; make sure you have time to double check your order ESPECIALLY if you get it to go, dont let them talk you out of building your own sandwich if you know exactly what you want, or just save yourself some time & money, buy their delicious bread, take it home to make your own sandwich the way you want!

Yummy food and the owners are really nice people. I have something different every time I go and its always delicious and different and gluten free!

Good paninis and the restaurant side as a whole is solid. The grocery side is quite expensive as a whole (the items that exist at both the Farmstand and other grocers in town are always considerably more expensive at the formerthough. Unique and speciality items do exist for those seeking those choices however.

Cubano pork belly pianni sandwich was delicious! Old drug store atmosphere surrounded by organic products. Bread is made on site and is soooo good. Downtown Muncie is such a mix of people. Feels like a very small version of New York City.

The salad was great! Family atmosphere, cozy Seating in the window. Loved the organic peanut butter cups!! Lots of organic food choices in the grocery section.

We have stopped by the Farmstand a couple of times now for lunch and have really enjoyed it. The food is simple, healthy, and delicious. The sandwiches are amazing. They taste so fresh. The side of fruit is a great addition. I plan to stop back every time Im in Muncie. In addition, their market has reasonably priced healthy items. A great place that I highly recommend.

My favorite place to eat in Muncie. A meal will cost you a little more, but that’s because it’s wholesome, organic, handmade food. True cost! I am glad my hometown has this place.

This might just be the best breakfast Ive had!! Ordered the bacon breakfast bowl with garlic aioli and it was absolutely delicious! I couldnt believe how good the bacon was. Mind blown! Love this place and the staff is so nice

Delicious food with unique flavor pairings that go together so nicely. Ive been wowed by everything Ive had here. The panninis have the perfect crunch to them. Also, there are so many awesome food items you can buy as well. I snagged some local honey last time that was great.

As a zero waster in Muncie, it is difficult to find places that sell items in bulk. I love that I came across the Downtown Farm Stand. Hopefully they continue to grow and bring in more bulk items. Like shampoos, conditioners, body wash, and lotions!! I will gladly keep supporting this business!

One of my favorite places to grab a bite. Food is always fresh and they have plenty of vegetarian options. You get what you pay for, and Id happily pay more for one of their delicious paninis! Their grocery sections and bulk bins are great, too. Workers are very friendly and helpful, and its always cool to see the owners working the counter. Always a must for out of town friends.

Can be easily overlooked from the outside, nice cool market feel on the inside. I do think that the pricing is a tad overpriced on the food you eat inside, not sure about grocery prices. I know with quality organic items comes a higher price but I think the price level is still a bit high. Decent spot, food, environment, etc.

Power was out this morning.. Came downtown to get done food and was not disappointed. My Chipotle pork belly sandwich with some legit hummus, made me forget the power was out at home. This is a great local shop. If youre not stopping in here weekly, theres something wrong.

Wholesome eats from their deli, I love their avocado panini with a side of soup. Limited shelf space for groceries means very limited selection, but all the most important foods are there, some fresh produce, bulk grains, dried fruits, coffee. Organic and Fair Trade... If you live near downtown, a very convenient place to shop.

I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you providing my fruit and vegetable party trays last Sunday. Everyone commented on how beautiful they were and I was sure to tell them I purchased them from you guys. Please let whomever made the guacamole know that it was the best I have ever had. Food is good, but waiting 20 minutes to get a deli sandwich is a bit ridiculous. Also the old nasty ceiling with flex duct hanging out of it was a bit awkward. Outside of the deli I dont see anything Fresh Thyme wouldnt have.

The selection and atmosphere leave me wanting for sure. But everything I have eaten has been really really good! The pork belly cuban is the second best sandwich i have had at a restaurant (Behind the black sparrows bahn mi in lafayette). The unusual selection of drinks is fun. I try something new each time. I love the black cherry soda.

I love the fact that the food is locally grown and purchased. The sandwhiches and fresh fruit are absolutely delicious! Its a little more on the expensive side--but its supporting local businesses and organic food.

I have had several of their paninis and have never been disappointed... The ingredients are fresh and always hit the spot. If I were downtown more they would see me much more... Always a fan of whatever they set in front of me... Visit them if you want deliciousness.

I am generally drawn to eclectic and unusual menus. Everything here is fresh and locally sourced as much as possible. Decent beer and wine selection. Excellent selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Friendly service. Grocery offering local organic meats and produce in addition to the restaurant!

Really a great place for organic and allergy friendly grocery items. Their sandwiches and really good and you feel better about what youve eaten. Want something a little different than usual but delicious, this is the right place.

Love going there to shop! Nice variety and friendly staff make shopping very pleasant. The hummus plate is my favorite and the chocolate espresso muffins should not be missed!

The weekly delivery is on of the best parts of our week! we do the "Your Choice" ben so each week we get to pick what wonderful things will fill our kitchen and make us a healthier household! there service is awesome, and this really has been the best discovery since moving here!
