Minibars, and wet bars with tea and coffeemaking facilities are also available.Complimentary parking is provided, and other amenities include a casual bar/restaurant and a cafe. I like staying here, nice staff, clean and feel safe, in some regards it is getting a little bit tired but not a disadvantage, I still think it is the nicest Hotel in the vicinity. Just a little tired since its opening day, nothing a few modern tweaks wouldnt fix to bring it back up to 2022.
All fantastic. Recommend . We like so much, booked extra nights.Thankyou, Forster a beautiful area.
Highly recommend perfect location room was fine nice and clean
Deluxe room & view fantasticGreat location
The best spot with the best views. Convenient and close. 5 start if the beds were updated.
Really rude person in a reception probably hates her job quitting it is much better for her and the hotel.
Shocking bed, cold shower, unhelpful management
Sleep to the ocean waves crashing, perfect!
Tired and incredibly bland but for the location......
What a disappointing stay, the bed was so uncomfortable like concrete, couldn’t wait to leave, so did at 5:30am.. unfortunately I won’t be staying again, but if you love a super firm mattress this is your place. Great location though walk everywhere.
The Staff were pleasant, View was Awesome. Room 302 was too basic for a Boutique Hotel. No doors on the wardrobe revealing the ironing board, safe & blankets available. Two arm chairs with a tiny little coffee table which looked like found on the kerb.
Great location nice room overlooking beach..staff pleasant especially front desk Sandra..will return.
Fantastic location with ocean views. Walking distance to the main shops and restaurants, across the road from the beach and great restaurant downstairs. Parking on-site. Rooms were comfortable with block out blinds and there is a deck to enjoy the views and ocean breeze. Would definitely return.
Nice room and excellent view, but balconies separated by nominal partition with next door guests on balcony commencing to party at 11:25pm. No sleep.
Had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Dorsal, location was amazing, view was outstanding and the staff were friendly. What a wonderful place to visit. Beach views, walking distant to some great restaurants and just a lovely place to relax. I cannot recommend enough.
Very good view. Awesome stay
Very cosy and great views from the 5th floor 504
Great central location.Beautiful view of main beach.Front Desk staff most helpful.Thank You Sandra.
Great location. Rooms a little plan but clean and the view is awesome. Nice and central with just a short walk to shops, pubs and restaurants. Great coffee and food at rhe Cafe out front
I Booked a weekend away for an anniversary celebration over valentines day, they met as many of the requests that I asked for as possible for the standard rooms they had available. We were overlooking the whole ocean the views were immaculate right on the beach front. Every morning we woke up and seen dolphins from our verandah. The rooms are pretty basic but comfortable enough. The staff are super friendly..We enjoyed our stay here so much that we decided to stop in again for 1 more night only 2 days later travelling back down the coastline again.
Room was clean and a good size. The balcony was small but adequate. The restaurant next door was nothing to do with the Dorsal. Fòod was gòod but expensive!
Great central location overlooking beautiful main beach at Forster. Beautiful views and lovely accommodation.
Wonderful stay, so close to shops, beach and restaurants .Very comfortable with wonderful views. Reception staff very friendly.
My family including an 8 month old stayed here over the weekend. The room was clean and view was amazing! The staff were fantastic and the restaurant downstairs is a must when visiting. The hotels location is the best in Forster, walk across the road to the beach 👌
Great location but rooms are standard and very poor bedding and linen.
Staff were friendly and view great. Would not class as luxury accommodation. Could not access brochures in foyer as entrance blocked to restaurant but no obvious signs of construction.
Very nice hotel with great views over the beach.
Great location. Nice clean room with beautiful views. Stayed here twice, would again.
Perfect in every way!Great view, clean and spacious room, great value, great location. The restaurant Sicilian downstairs was delicious too.
Lovely little hotel, right on the beach, great restaurant also.
Incredible view, convenient location with walking distance to all shops and water. Only thing was there is no cutlery like a knife, fork or spoon to have cereal or toast. Oh and no ironing board. Besides this downfall we would stay again as it it a very clean hotel.
Very good location. Great view and access to beachfront walks. Modern and well maintained. Friendly staff.
Definately not worth the money! It started bad and got worse. Upon check in the receptionist barely looked at us. Rude! We Paid for a spa upgrade and its a tiny tub with jets that didnt work. Tried to call reception to tell them, and the hotel phone has about 50 buttons..none if which are marked to show where to call. So tried to call from my mobile,, office closed. Grrr. The bed is old and hard, and when i got into the bed something sharp stuck into me.... It was a ripped off piece dirty toenail! Disgusting. Theres no cutlery, no plates. TV is blurry to watch. Ordered some dessert from restaurant downstairs... disgusting... Inedible and definately about a week old. This is supposed to be a BOUTIQUE hotel... what a joke! I have photos to back all of this up too. Explained all of this to hotel staff, showed them the pictures to Prove it. No offer to make it right or to refund some money. I would rather stay at the $85 Forstay hotel which we went to after. It had everything we needed, great tv, clean crisp kinds, Good brandtea/ coffee, and ample /cutlery/crockery etc.
For the price we paid it was definitely not superior or boutique. Yes the view is amazing, but beyond that the room and hotel are nothing spectacular. The sheet on our bed wasnt even the right size and couldnt be tucked in under the mattress. Every time we rolled over the sheet rolled with us exposing the mattress underneath. There was an ironing board in the corner of the room - for $230 a night Im sure it could be hidden away. Everything about the room is basic. The woman on reception was less than friendly and made us feel like we had put her out - I have never felt like such an inconvenience! This was the clincher for me, on checkout I was blatantly dismissed, and didnt even get asked if I had any feedback etc. She didnt even look at me.The restaurant downstairs is actually amazing. I just wish the hotel matched.
The Sicilian Restaurant downstairs is a vibrant food lovers paradise.. the meals are exquisite.. Ive eaten salt n pepper calamari all around the world.. ..and this is by far the best... even the bowl of veggies is world class.. every meal has a special touch.. thoroughly enjoyed every meal there. 😊
Great location very clean and close to everything awesome view from the top floor. Its a shame about the restaurant downstairs to expensive $27 for a margherita pizza.
I have stayed at the Dorsal twice before and found it good enough to go back. This time however was dreadful. We stayed 4 nights and paid the same amount each night so I think a clean glass each day rather than one washed under water only and left to dry on a face washer is not too much to ask. The standard of cleaning was appalling. We were given clean towels and some extra toilet paper but nothing was cleaned in the bathroom or any surface wiped down in the living/sleeping area. Even the icing sugar from my fruit mince tart remained on the bench near the sink. (I left it there from day 1 just to check.)Unfortunately the beautiful view could not be seen from inside the room after the second day as the sliding doors to balcony were not cleaned over our 4 days. The decor is tired and boring. The hotel is right on the beach, why not some fresh coastal decor. There wasnt anything on the walls other than the TV.The bathroom needed a face lift (even re-grouting would make it look fresher). To top it all off, I got tinea!!! Clean the bathroom please!
Service was outstanding, went for some drinks at the bar attached to it. Lovely night had
Arrived with no booking. A break for the night in a long journey.Staff at counter friendly.Room clean, equipped, great view. The unexpected gem was the wonderful eaterie attached.A wonderful meal. Great staff.Wish the next morning we had gone to the beach but cafe for breakfast a short walk away.A regret of the trip
A staff member was rude to us more than once during our 1 day stop over. Never recommended the sicilian restaurant which is at their front door. We wont stay again.
My husband & I have really enjoyed our stay here. Fantastic location opposite the beach with a ocean rock pool. So close to shops cafes & restaurants.Friendly staff, with a Italian restaurant attached. We will come back. 😁
My wife and I stayed there at the beginning of December 2017, one of the top floor rooms. Beside boutique in their name and a boutique room rates there’s nothing boutique about this hotel - sorry should say motel! One of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Extremely outdated, dirty and unwelcoming place! I could go on and on about it but I will just share one experience that sums it up : watch out: cockroaches! We killed four of them within 48h of our stay, photo of one of them attached. Obviously if they have them in the top floor rooms then they are throughout the whole building! I emailed Dorsal asking for a partial refund as I found over half a thousand dollars ($520for two nights with cockroaches quite overpriced, here’s what they have replied (quoting):“Good afternoonThank you for your email advising of the presence of cockroaches in your room during your stay at The Dorsal. The property is of course treated for such pests, however unfortunately sometimes they still manage to find their way in. We are unable to offer you a partial refund however we are happy to provide you with a complimentary Gift Voucher for a Superior room for your use at a time that suits you within the next six months, subject to availability and not between 15th Dec 2017 and 28th January 2018.We apologise for this incident and if you would like to make use of the Gift Voucher offer kindly contact our reception who will organise this to be sent t you.Kind Regards”I found their reply very inappropriate as I certainly wouldn’t want to bring my wife back to a ‘hotel’ filled with cockroaches!I love Foster, love going on holiday there, but man this place is a disgrace! If you’re planing on staying there better bring a Mortein spray with you!P.S. we just recently stayed at the Big4 Holiday Park across the bridge in Tuncurry. Their rooms and facilities are way better quality and standards than Dorsal!Good luck Dorsal!Martin
Breakfast was great food and Coffee. Warm day and stunning view of the bay.
Very expensive for the plainest room Ive ever stayed in! The bathroom has absolutely no where to place toiletry items and the shower and bathroom doors made it almost impossible to move. Though clean and tidy I felt that the hotel has no personality.
Great views and lovely location but this is not a boutique hotel. Lacked personality. Bathrooms are dated, smallest vanity ever - no room to put anything. Shower is very small and the hot/cold tap was backwards!!!Nice place but its not boutique or luxury. The restaurant downstairs was great and the hotel is in a great location!
Our experience was positive with the staff, however the food was overpriced for what it was. If you like heaps of fresh onion in your pasta, go for it.
Celebrated my Wifes Birthday and a long overdue visit to my Grand Parents and Parents. We had the Top Floor, North Facing overlooking Forster Beach. Room 501, although, all rooms have beach views, we believe room 501 is the best, with views over the Hinterland to the ocean. The Room was very well set out and appointed. (apart from no extra warm blankets for those cold nights).Everything Worked Well, Spacious and Comfortable and Clean."Free Parking" at last one Motel is understanding that guests do drive and security parking is important, without an extra nasty undisclosed cost.Staff were very well presented, friendly and helpful. The Sicilian Restaurant, fine food, fine wine, great staff, but book well in advance, even before you arrive, to get a good table overlooking beach. Locals take the best spots.
We had a great time at the Dorsal. The rooms are a good size, and they were spotless. The staff in the restaurant were so nice, friendly and efficient. The meals were delicious! Thank you so much to the two young men that served us for dinner. You guys did a great job!!!
Had a fantastic meal here in January. New chef - salt & pepper squid the best I have ever had & local fish fantastic. Definitely best restaurant in Forster Tuncurry
Excellent . Service was very good, attentive without being over the top. Food was fresh varied menu and seafood hotpot was seriously good. Will definitely recommend to locals and visitors alike. We will come back in summer to experience the view next time.
