Great museum that has a lot of antique weapons and tells stories of Frances military side of conflict and how it evolved over time. Well curated and you literally walk through the timeline of different major wars and events. Worth visiting especially if youre a history buff! We went on a Saturday afternoon using Paris Museum pass and it was not crowded. It took us probably around an hour and a half going through WWI and WWII section. After, we visited Napoleons tomb nearby.

Really wish I had planned more time to spend here but unfortunately not..Really my intention was just to visit and see Napoleons tomb...My goodness what an impressive museumThe architecture is absolutely mind blowing...so exquisite... the paintings on the ceilings..The tomb is so befitting of a great leader.I then went on to visit the rest of the Army museum which is one of the best i have seen...Dedicated to wars and battles of the ages obviously earlier battles are committed to France and its armies but ww1 and ww2...are dedicated to all.,So much information and I believe i read along the way this has more exhibits than any other museum...??..You can very easily spend the day here...Café and toilet facilities are available on site..Pretty sure you are able to walk around the grounds and use the café but a ticket is required for entry into the museum and the Napoleons tomb

One of the best museums ever! Youll need a whole day just for this place - its huge and has so many exhibits that it is almost impossible to comprehend everything in one go. If youre on a time budget, skip the Eiffel tower and other tourist traps, visit the army museum instead!

This collection dating to ancient times is incredible in its scope and breadth of items. The middle ages collection of armor and weapons is probably the most extensive in the world. The uniforms from all periods shows the incredible talents of seamstress and the beauty of the military attire. The D Day museum in Normandy is better for WWII, but this one is more than adequate for most.

For me a dream became a reality when I saw the tomb of the emperor Napoleon. I love French history and this was a culmination of a dream. Although from a military perspective the Museum is very rich, a lot of artefacts can also be seen in the UK. Would recommend visiting the house of the Duke of Wellington in London and the British museum to fully appreciate the French history, the French Revolution and the Napoleon era. Strangely enough the tomb of Napoleon III is in the UK.The tomb is by far the most incredible I have ever seen, good enough even for a god.

Impressive collection of uniforms and weaponsfrom many periods of Fench history. Very well presented. Information is excellent. Facilities are great. My only criticism is that I deliberately went late on the Tuesday as it said it was open until 9 and I thought it would be quieter BUT they started to close some of the galleries at 6. Very annoyed as it was not clear at the point of entry. Fortunately, I had been before but otherwise would have been very annoyed as you need a lot of time to take it all in.

A wonderful and huge, and I mean very extensive, museum of French military history. I cannot overstate the size of this place, I spent four hours in the wings covering the two world wars alone. And there is so much more to see! The exhibit titles are in several languages, but the full explanation is all in French. You can get audio guides but I just read the signs as best I could. Dont forget to see the Tomb of Napoleon while youre here, its pretty unforgettable.

Im a big fan of history and the museum attended my expectations. A variety of things to see, and tells a lot about the story of France, loved it. Some good stuff about World War 2. Just would say to plan your trip before, there should by some kind of linear schedule to see everything, I got lost and didnt see everything 😅

3rd visit and still haven’t covered most of the museum’s show rooms yet. Huge complex including Napoleons tomb, 2-3 temporary exhibit spaces, square with canons, a dedicated Charles de Gaulle gallery. You could spend a week here (or just keep coming back each time you’re in Paris).Limited English translations but enough to understand each room and sub themes. Some exhibitions are better translated than others (generally in Paris temporary exhibitions are not translated and only in French). Google translate camera will do the trick!

I saw Napoleons tomb, as expected. However, I happened to be there at the same time everyone saw that it turned out napoleon wasnt dead and he took over Europe again but finally we caught him for the second time.Jokes aside, it was nice and I would recommend the garden outside as it is free (if you go into the museumand extremely peaceful.

A unique and extensive collection of documents, maps, models, uniforms, equipment, weapons, video and audio. We returned here after our two year long lockown in Australia to take a second look at this record of worldwide conflicts involving France from the stone age through to the 20th century. Even Australia rates a mention.

Great exhibits of medieval armor and weapons, though WWII. Lots of fanboy tributes to Napoleon and DeGualle. The miniatures and topographical maps were neat, with some maps over 300 years old.

The setup is really nice, you pass through history from early war history till the latest. The entry point is where you’ll know about battles that took place thousand years ago and then step by step you’ll reach to the wars of modern era and will learn how they developed the war equipments from time to time

Top military museum, unrivaled collection. Unfortunately it is curatorially hobbled for non-Francophone audience.Museum offers little English. Thats astounding for a major museum with resources to get it right.English is inconsistent and usually entirely absent. Sometimes it is present on high-level, larger placards. Sometimes for such high-level placards, French is in a big typeface, and English, German, and Spanish are squashed in tiny, unreadable typefaces. Most captions throughout the museum are only French.Time and again I hoped to learn about amazing artifacts, but descriptions were not translated.Such a museum can and should do better. I hope curators embrace well-established multilingual techniques on a consistent, museum-wide basis.During my visit, two thirds of security personnel/room minders were talking on their phones, doing something else on their phones, or sleeping. The latter two activities do not detract from my visit. However the four guards who were talking on their phones most definitely detracted from my visit as well as the experiences of other visitors present in their vicinity. Highly unprofessional, not just once or twice but with consistency. If museum Management ever walked through the galleries, they would observe the same.

An impressive collection of French military history displaying arms and armour, the period from Louis XIV to Napoleon, the World Wars, and a historical on Charles de Gaulle, amongst others. And not to forget the impressive tomb of Napoleon. Just a shame when buying a ticket online that you have to sign up for an account; now I have to work out how to delete that.

Thunderous applause to the people who defended and sacrificed their lives for their nation, and another applause for the special evening film projected inside the courtyard walls of the Army Museum. Impressive French narration and film of the wars and battles fought by Napoleon I and the successive wars. The walls of the museum burn, twist, disappear as breathtaking sounds and glorious history come alive, tinged with sorrow and aching memories. Tickets should be bought in advance and take care to prepare for incremental weather.

Ticket is 14 euros. This museum is not for everyone. I love military history and I enjoyed it however it is not for people who don’t like military history. Museum has three sections. Louis XIV, Napoleon Bonaparte and Charles De Gaulle. It covers French revolution, Napoleonic Wars, First and Second World Wars. Museum has two different sections and it is easy to miss other section if you don’t have museum map. I enjoyed dresses, I feel old military uniforms are really fashionable.
