A menu of family-style Indian & African dishes with elevated interiors & vibrant red furniture.
Superb: service, setting and food. Will def go back. Best curry I’ve had. Manager was really helpful with recommendations and made sure we had a memorable evening meal. There’s a great cosy atmosphere.
Visited the Curry Room after recommendations from friends. My fellow guest; from the same area of India as the Chef has dietary constraints that were well accommodated.Service and food was fantastic; beautifully spiced. The "in-house" wine Hannibal reminded me of the Italian Sassicaia and was a perfect acompliment. Will be back
Brilliant! All courses were delicious and we will return.
We had the 3 course set menu and we were very disappointed particularly with the starter, only one option was available. They served a samosa with very dry lamb mince inside and it had what looked and tasted like mayonnaise and ketchup on top.The plate used for the main dish looked like a cheap round silver tray, not pleasant to eat from. The service was ok,
Watch out for the wine at that place! They water it down to save money! Most watery wine i ever had! Of course they denied it and looked offended. Can’t fool people who know their wines. Staff had attitude and fake politeness just to « maintain » the « fake quality » of the place. The food was pretty good but not worth £75 per person. The staff act like they know more than you and are more posh than you. Lots of attitude in the place. The restaurant is pretty and cozy but the vibe is bad. It’s like they try to sell you an « upscale restaurant » when it’s all show and no substance. Like someone above said their side salad for the curries looked like they came from a fast good chain. Overpriced because it’s on Buckingham street. Their rent must be huge in such a prime location so they use all kind of tactics to make ends meet. Like watering down the wine. For which they never offered to remove from the bill for us despite our complaints. AVOID! Won’t be coming back
Visited the curry room because we had a voucher for our wedding Anniversary. Food was fantastic and we were made to feel welcome. Service was also very good. Can’t remember the waiters names but we visited on 4/8/22.Thanks for looking after us and for a lovely experience.
I must say the chef Mr. Kumar at curry room is a good chef and nice person. He came down to our table to explain the menu options and thd food was tasty. The dining hall was cozy and nicely decorated. The servers were polite and friendly. Overall we liked it.
Pricey but excellent. As an Indian-American, my one grouse with indian restaurants is that they focus on spicing and more often than not, not on getting the meat cooked right. Consequently the meat is mostly overdone and sometimes under, but rarely perfect and tender. . This was not the case at Curry house. We had the Lamb and the Kerala Shrimp. Both perfectly done and perfectly spiced.
Delicious food, great service, would definitely recommend for a lovely evening.
Very nice experience of Indian food. Real fine dine experience with Indian food. Chef was great and shared his thoughts about menu.Staff was very courteous and very professional.Really enjoyed night.
Great Flavors and atmosphere. The flavors were incredible and our server Arbindra was great. We look forward to returning. A new favorite.
Absolutely delicious -- Indian food PERFECTION. From start to finish, as mild or hot as you like. Excellent service and ambiance, and friendly and jovial chef will come visit with you! Lovely experience!
First time at The Curry Room and was not disappointed. The food, atmosphere and staff were all excellent. Would definitely recommend as a place to go
We just had a FANTASTIC time at The Curry Room! There were four of us here on vacation from the US - came here after seeing reviews on Open Table and we are so glad we did!Service and food were fantastic and the restaurant was beautiful, cozy and quiet enough without feeling stuffy.Wonderful spot!
Delicious selection of curries. Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff. I’d go as far as saying this is a hidden gem for great Indian cuisine in London
Very authentic and tasty curries. All were delicious - prawn curry was delicious as well as the vegetable curry (very fresh paneer). We came with a native Indian guest who loved all of the food. The waiters and chef were great and very friendly.
Delicious food with excellent service. Chef personal touch is very appreciated. So glad found this restaurant and its my second visit in 3 weeks.
Hands down THE BEST Indian cuisine I’ve ever experienced. First dined here while traveling from the States in 2018. Ruined us for Indian cuisine anywhere else. Fate led us to relocating outside of London in 2021…enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner there with such a personal experience arranged between the restaurant and my spouse that I will never forget. Now living in Germany and planning a trip to London specifically to dine here once again. Bravo!!!
Amazing dinner.. food is outstanding. The service is excellent. A great surprise as we did not know about this gem before staying at the Reubens hotel.
Best Indian food Ive ever had! We got the fish curry and butter chicken as our main dishes, the fish curry had a delicious kick and the other ingredients like the eggplant brought a wonderful balance to the dish. The butter chicken was cooked to perfection. We got the cheesecake and chocolate compote for the dessert, which was the perfect way to end off the meal. The restaurant itself has a calm ambience that allowed my friend and I to enjoy our dinner at a leisurely pace, and the wait staff were all very professional and attentive. The servers were able to recommend dishes and drinks that we completely loved. We even got to speak to the chef who was very friendly.Absolutely a worthy experience for the price! Definitely recommend!
My partner and I had the most amazing evening. The food was the best Indian food we had eaten in a very long time. The personal attention to detail shown with our menu made the meal so special. The celebration cake presented at the end of the meal was a lovely surprise. We look forward to returning for another celebratory meal. Special thanks to Arbindra and Mohan Senchuri, the Manager for going above and beyond excellent customer service.
Absolutely fantastic Curry. Go for the selection of three curries to get the flavour of different areas of India. Well worth a visit even if you are not staying in the hotel. If you haven’t been and you think you’ve had the best curry ever .. you haven’t yet !!!
While having a gin experience in the Rubens new York bar was told there was no restaurant food today or tomorrow, after deciding we should go after the drinks to find a restaurant somehow another waiter Frank remarked that we could have Indian food in room below ( Literally in the room below ). We were given the menu which look ok so I booked and then was asked twice if I was happy with the cost. What I am the purpose of this embarrassing step which seems to be done regularly on reading other reviews. Perhaps making people aware of a 12% automatic service charge on top of e £75 per head set menu would be better advisedThe restaurant is lovely and was not busy on our visit 630 Sunday evening. No complaints with food apart from the naan bread which seemed dense and not authenticly cooked in clay oven
The service and food at The Curry Room was exceptional. Our Host Mohan was very attentive and each course was very tasty which made for an enjoyable evening. Would thoroughly reccomend!
We tried the £85 three course menu with the chef thali main course. Between the 2 of us, we tried 6 different curries. The butter chicken and fish curries were delicious but the rest were not memorable. But it was nice to compare them side by side . Service was good but slow. We got pompodon twice somehow by 2 waiters. Desserts was huge and we got a nice complimentary birthday tiramisu as well. The live music from the restaurant above was competing with the Curry room own background music. Overall a solid 4*.
Tried to visit this evening for a family meal we was greated by a gentleman that let us in he went to see if there was a table whilst he was checking for a table the snotty lady from behind the desk confirmed the price of the menu before we sat down whilst looking us up and down implying like we couldnt afford it. YES WE WOULD OF PAID THE £75 SET MENU PER HEAD IF IT WASNT FOR HER BAD ATTITUDE so we just left without eating.. just as we was leaving a lady came over and asked her to order her a taxi which the rude lady helped with. If your job is to stand behind a desk ordering other peoples taxis for them then you shouldnt judge a family that walks in for a meal!
Absolutely phenomenal food! Not only was the food amazing, but the ambience is awesome, the service is even better, and the head chef even came out to our table after our dinner to have a quick chat. Wonderful experience, recommend it 10 times over!
the food was excellent especially beef and the somasa we never ever had the somasa like this. thanks to chef kumar to made our night extra special
Food was amazing friendly staff loved the head chef made dinner bespoke for us made our diwali meal special
We dined here on our final night staying at the wonderful Rubens Hotel and as with everything in our stay it did not disappoint. Lovely staff, amazing dishes and such good value for money. Fantastic thank you.
Fantastic food!Coming from a Pakistani Kashmiri background we have high expectations of curries. We were totally amazed with the quality and the taste. I take my hat off to the chef Mr Arun Kumar, whom we had the pleasure of meeting before we left. A truly passionate man about his work and care to delight the palletes of his customers. The staff are so welcoming and caring I felt so comfortable and relaxed. Thank youI enjoyed myself so much Im already planning to come back.If youre in the area definitely try it out. You will not be disappointed.M Shahpal
The food was amazing. The chef has put his heart and soul in his cooking and also the rest of his team. Truly delightful, definitely will be returning to the curry room.
We had a fabulous meal at The Curry Room last night. Chef went out of his way to ensure we had a beautiful selection of totally authentic and delicious curries and the freshest lacha paratha and jeera rice. Wonderful service, a beautiful welcoming setting and the Rubens hotel is just lovely . Can’t wait to return and huge compliments to Chef Kumar
I have had many curries at various restaurants, but this one is my absolute favourite, it was a truly wonderful. My most grateful thanks to Mohan for his wonderful hospitality, it was unrivalled and made the whole experience one to remember. To Chef Kumar thank you for such a brilliant culinary experience. I would also like to say thank you to Arbindra who looked after us during the evening too. It was a great pleasure to be in the company of you all and we really look forward to returning back to The Curry Room in the not too distant future.
We went to The Curry Room on Saturday evening and I have to say this was the best Indian meal we have ever eaten. Chef Kumar is a top man and a wizard in hand blending and preparing all the meals by hand from scratch. It was great to talk to the person who actually made the dishes and to glean a few tips from him. Thanks to Arbindra for his excellent services and for the great conversations we had with him during our meal.A big big thank you to Mohan for looking after us throughout the meal and for showing us round and introducing us to his team. Mohan made us feel like ”part of the famiy” making this a very memorable and brilliant experience and we will definitely return.
Wow, what a fantastic restaurant. If you like curry then this is the place for you. Both Mohan and Chef Kumar made us feel very special and made the most wonderful selection of Asian food including, Butter Chicken, Natal Lanb and Beef Vindaloo. I cant describe how fantastic the flavours and tastes were. Well definitely be back. Well done chaps.
We came here with a group. Considering the location of the place and the ambience, I was hoping for a class A experience. The waiters have an attitude, very abrupt in their response with no smiles at all. The plate below was served to us with veggies that you would expect from a street shop in India. I would have fired my head chef for serving this kind of plate to customers paying ££ for their up class food. Very disappointed. Do yourself a favour, take the tube and go to south hall to enjoy some awesome Indian/Pakistani food and that too at much lower price and better customer service.
Lived the ambiance and location....However not much vegetarian choice....Superb service
The food was not that delicious according to the price. The waiters had slot of attitude as well. We werent even given napkins for a start and when I asked for some I was asked how many I wanted. They took a lot of time to serve the food. Paid a £300 bill but I wish I had gone somewhere else for a better experience for that kind of money.
Had dinner a couple nights ago during my stay at the hotel. The food and service were good and might deserve 4 stars if that were the only facts to be taken into account. Even it being a tad pricy the quality stands up quite well for itself. The truth is that charging 14£ for two still bottles of water (that is 1/3 of the price of the foodis extremely excessive and abusive.High end restaurants usually pride themselves on the food and tend to have higher price tags on their food but then again, water is almost always complimentary. If you factor in that the price of a cocktail was £16 each then you start to feel like having been taken advantage of.After a great experience at the hotel, this section does no justice to The Rubens.
My husband and I ate that The Curry Room yesterday and the food was outstanding. My husband, who normally is not a fan of Indian food absolutely loved it. I am dairy free so as part of the starter, I was brought out a chickpea salad that was so flavorful. As a main course, I had the fish and my husband had the traditional lamb dish. Both were excellent! The staff was very friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal and now my husband is a fan of Indian food. Win win!
We had a magical and exquisitely delicious birthday dinner for my husband here. The friendly staff went out of their way to give us a wonderful experience, and they also created a special vegan meal for our friend. The decor is elegant, sort of a colonial style paneled library, very rich maroon colors with beautiful mood lighting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Amidst a full day of sightseeing & before taking in a 7:30pm theatre performance, we stepped into 90 minutes of calm luxury at the Curry Room. We were looking for a simpler setting and lower price, but appreciated the 5:30pm open time and location: walking distance from Buckingham Palace & the Apollo Theatre in the Rubens Hotel. Beautiful decor, gracious service, fixed price 3 course meal (L45, samosa-choice of meat or veggie with papadum, choice of curry dish, and choice of dessert). A bit indulgent for us, but the ambience, service and food added to our experience of London/Britain!
The food was quite good on our second visit to this restaurant within The Reubens at the Palace Hotel. I would say our first visit was even better, but the servers, manager and even the head chef were such wonderful hosts, that we really had no complaints. Id happily dine there again. We were so hungry that I only now realized that we didnt take any photos of our food!
There was a three course menu, with limited options, but all the food was excellent. When you visit, its through the hotel lobby and down the stairs. Outstanding service.
Horrible experience. Overpriced, below average food and service. Avoid!Their dinner menu is set menu with only 1 vegetarian option for a main. The appetizer was either a veg or lamb samosa. I asked for the vegetarian but was served the lamb one. When I pointed this out, there was no apology but they did replace it. When I got the veg samosa, it was frozen inside. Clearly it was a frozen samosa that they didnt bother to heat up wellThe service was just plain bad. We were routinely interrupted again and again mid sentence to ask us questions or get served. Like I said above, no apology for serving the wrong food. The set menu had a desert option with ice cream which I selected. The ice cream had ice crystals all over it. Just terrible. There are far better indian curry places in London than this place. Overpriced, below average food with below average service sums up The Curry Room in 1 sentence.
Delicious curries in Rubens hotel near Buckingham Palace. Somewhat pretentious demeanor of hotel staff prior to seating, but wonderful service from curry manager Mohan
I recently visited this restaurant while traveling in London. If I am being honest, we were expecting a cheaper Indian restaurant (we didnt check the menu before handBut, when we arrived, the manager of the restaurant Mr. Mohan Senchuri received us and treated us like we were celebrities. We decided to treat ourselfs to a nice meal in London, and we were so glad we did. The food is amazing!!!! is honestly one of the best Indian food I ever had and it was worth every penny. But my favorite part of the meal was the excellent customer services we received from the restaurant manager and his staff. Thank you Mr. Senchuri, please dont change. You made our experience unforgettable! I recommend this restaurant 100%
Had a really lovely, tasty dinner at The Curry Room. Tucked away in the Rubens Hotel, the staff were first-class, and the dining room was cozy and comfortable. The manager, Mr. Mohan Senchuri, was exceptionally gracious, taking care to explain the regional varieties of cuisine to my sister, who had never eaten Indian food before. We ordered from the 3-course menu, and every dish was superb. Even the condiments with the papadums were great, especially the lime pickle (seriously, I would eat this stuff on everything if I could). Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough!
Great meal in a great place. The manager Mohan was really helpful and friendly. A real taste of Indian cuisine at its best, a lovely mix of spice. The chef was happy to prep something a little different for the vegetarian in our group too. Will definately visit again.
