Smart pub, original features &
I have been to the Crown for casual evening drinks while sitting outside in their nice garden a couple of times but never been there for lunchtime or dinner. I finally had a chance to book a table (advisable because I tried to turn up in a couple of occasions and they were always fulland had a fantastic dining experience! Food was fresh, tasty and presented beautifully, with great staff and excellent beer and wine selection. I am looking forward to going back
Very well-cooked and presented food for our family party of eight. Helpful, courteous staff.
Excellent venue good food great selection service was busy and looked to have a lot on their plate however still reccomended
A shell of its former self since its take over by one of the main breweries. Hasn’t changed the menu in years, they’ve lost two of their best managers, the staff are well intentioned but poorly trained and quite a few drinks on their wine menu are unavailable which begs the question why are they on there. Food is also now pretty bland. Not sure our patronage will last. A pity really given its only 200m from our front door. I’d rather walk the extra 1km to get a better experience at any number of other pubs in St Margaret’s / Twickenham.
Beautiful pub with great menu. The staff is super attentive.
Yea the crown isn’t the cheapest pub, but the crown is the best pub in the Richmond/Twickenham area. Food, atmosphere and drink - especially a really amazing place in those winter months leading up to Christmas
Yep, it was great, sat in the conservatory and the food service cost was good at the time (5 years +)
Great pub with both an informal pub area and more formal dining area, as well as beautiful garden. The Crown previously would have a 5 star review from me but unfortunately the food has really been disappointing recently. It seems to have gone downhill, especially for the prices. The Crown Burger was served sloppily on two occasions now with not even a hint of a garnish - instead just a burger with some chips thrown on the plate. The side salad was £4.25 and came out on a saucer consisting of about 5 leaves, 2 tomatoes and a slice of onion, and the kale side dish amounted to about two mouthfuls, again on a saucer sized plate and for £4.50. Previously the sides were much better sizes and the dishes seemed to be much more worth the price. The fish and chips seems to be the only meal that is still a decent size. Its such a shame as we have enjoyed many meals here previously and the staff are always very friendly. Its just the food that seems to disappoint now.
Great food in a lovely atmosphere. We sat in the mature, but also well designed, garden. Staff were nice and also accommodating over food preferences.
Not sure what I can say that any others havent. It is a great outdoor space with excellent food and great service. The fish and chips are GF and the best we have had in years.
The crown is truly a magical placeBeautiful outdoor seating area that feels like a.secret garden. Spacious and beautiful indoor area with a beautiful bar. Great friendly staff like Martha and delicious food.
Whatever I had today it wasnt cod in my Fish and Chips. Disgusting stinky cheap fish sold at the premium price. The chips and mushy peas were ok...just ok..
Lovely pub. Had a house special, Mussels. Good size portion, maybe just not in season so not very juicy or big but the taste was good. Their melted cheese was yummy and their sticky toffee pudding was good too. Would go back again for sure.
This used to be my favourite pub until it was bought out by Young’s haven’t had a good meal there since. Very sad!
Very pleasant and very Twickenham pub with rather good food and great service. Recommended.
Plenty of great food, brilliant atmosphere, Friendly helpful staff. Ate there before we went to watch the Rugby. Would recommend to anyone.
Spacious with several large rooms all nicely decorated. Best of all - really good food.
Good beer, good food, good service!
Great real ales and solid fish and chips, remains the same great place after 35 years
Really friendly staff. The garden is spacious and inviting. Will definitely visit again. The only reason I havent given 5 stars is because I havent eaten in there....... Yet.
This is a review of the restaurant but, not the pub. Overall - pretty poor service and really bad food.Details -- arrived at 17, the place was half empty- despite the above, we still had to wait for food for 50min. At the end, I had to chase one of the waiters.- ordered the classic burger, some food for kids and the roast- the burger was dry and tasteless. Fries were stale- sunday roast with chicken was alright. But certainly not worth the moneyFeels like the food was much better pre-lockdown.
Celebrated a 30th birthday at the Crown last weekend. Vicky and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Great food and service.
We really like this place - there’s a great selection of beers, the staff are friendly and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. We have tried a small amount of the food which has been very nice.It is very dog friendly and there is a small car park which is very convenient too!The only (very minusculeissue we have is that when ordering on the app the tables aren’t numbered which makes things tricky.
The Staff were lovely! Extremely helpful as I am gf and df. Really fantastic pub, lovely beer garden. Food was good but could benefit from some small improvements.
Were told that they expect children to remain seated, quietly, in the garden, at 5:30pm, on mothers day. Happy to attract families by offering a childrens menu, but not tolerating their presence once in. Cannot decide if it is a pub or a restaurant, tries to be both. Food OK, but not as good as it was on my last couple of visits. I have been going here for over 15 years but wont be coming back this year at least as there are plenty of local pubs that are very welcoming to families with better food.
Hired the private dining room at the Crown for my 60th birthday. It was a huge success. The room is lovely, the staff extremely helpful and the food delicious. We didnt want to leave at the end of the evening. Thank you to everyone involved at the pub - including our waitress Rachel - in making my birthday very special.
This is a lovely venue just off the Thames. The function room is big enough for 20 comfortably, and I believe takes more. Their whiskey sours are tasty, if without egg white. The crown roast is a posh roast worth eating.
Lunch was superb. We were in the main restaurant and the setting is beautiful. Must have been a stunning old house in olden days!! Also a very pretty courtyard garden to the side. Parking facility.
Popped in for lunch and as always the food was delicious! Fish cakes and linguine were on point with the perfectly cooked truffle oil cauliflower gratin as a side, definitely worth a sneaky trip!!
Love this pub restaurant. Good service and quality, robust food. Lunch today saw our party have gnocchi (delicious, with chestnutswhile others had the sausages and mash. Gorgeous, as was the truffled cauliflower cheese gratin. Followed by a beautiful sticky toffee pud, and an apple crumble. The wine list is extensive with great choice, and the service and atmosphere is welcoming. Not surprising its busy. We keep on making excuses to come back for more...
Loved this pub, so old school, very unique with quite several gluten free options on a menu. We ordered burgers and one was made with a gluten free bun, they can also serve gluten free bread when ordering soups. Very pleasantly surprised!
Great friendly staff. SeaBass dish excellent . Hamburger poor; overcooked with dried up chips.Cheese board very goodTwo glasses of wine and two beers £70 excluding serviceI wont rush back
Beautiful Christmas Decorations! Pretty busy on Sundays ! Wednesday nights dinner was delicious! Thank you 🙏🏻
Lovely interior, cozy fireplace, comfortable sofas and amazing food and wine. Spacious room for all your friends and excellent service. Will highly recommend.
Staff kindly (and speedilygot us another dessert after a mix-up, no questions asked. Nice outdoor seating. Friendly staff, great service, good atmosphere. Tasty food, though could have been hotter. Fairly expensive but not overpriced.
Went with a group of work colleagues. Separate function area provided. Service excellent. Drinks reasonably priced. Food well presented but although tasty could have been better. Probably because of catering for a large number. Menu was limited. However the menu for individuals families, couples etc looked very inviting. Just think a revisit to try would be a good idea. Also lovely outside seating area.
Four of us had booked a meal and it was fantastic. The service was brilliant with a wide range of food and drink.Came back later in the day to see if we could just have another couple of drinks as we had not pre-booked a table. The member of staff we dealt with was really helpful (she remembered usand duly found us a table in the garden for just over an hour which was perfect.Top marks for a lovely place to eat and drink and all the best to you all.We will return when in the area again.
As fabulous as always. Our table right next to the kitchen doors wasnt the greatest, but as regulars, it didnt bother us too much. Food was, as always, very good, although the sauce for my favourite peanut chicken salad was different this time and in my opinion, not as nice as it used to be more chilli. All in all though, great service and lovely food. Still our favourite local by far! 😁
We have decided to visit the pub after reading all the good reviews. At the doors we were welcomed by a girl who took our phone numbers and called someone to direct us to the table. Great, we have been give table outside and told that there will be table service due to the current situation, fine. My wife ordered gin and I have asked for Morettti, at the end she got her drink and I have been served pint of Camden. Once finish the beer I have ordered another one only to wait 20 minutes and had to find someone to ask for it again, another 15 minutes waiting time. Somewhere in the middle started to rain pretty heavy so we have asked twice if we could change the table for the one with the umbrella, Firstly I have been told we can’t and second time we were just ignored, so I asked for the manager, he arrived to our table once we have already moved inside of the pub. At the end they even have managed to get our bill wrong. I do understand we are trying to help youngsters with their firs jobs but having so many of them while non of them know what they doing it does not help the business, lack of customer care, poor service and zero communication.
Having recently moved to the area, have been trying out a few of the local pubs. This is definitely the best one Ive been to. Doesnt look like much from outside, but different story once you are in. Also has a medium sized outside eating area with table service. Good food menu, with some decent light plates if you want a snack over a few drinks. Will be back again
Lovely service, greatly cooked chefs specials often rotated throughout the weeks, wine selection isnt large but the wines available are very good! Will definitely come again.
I find the food here really delicious, well presented and it all looks fresh. Their garden restaurant is lovely. The service good and friendly.
Spacious pub with beer garden. Went on a sunday and it was packed, be sure to book if you want to eat in the main dining room. Kid friendly and great selection of food. Went for calves liver salad and roast beef 👌🏾
Good food. Great location with nice architecture. Service was a bit slow. Scallops were good.the lamb. Was well cooked. The fudge pudding was great until I ran out of sauce.
Great food. Friendly staff. A really pleasant atmosphere. Id highly recommend
Best burger in Twickenham thus far. Cosy pub/bistro, smart sheltered garden, with plenty of seating, packed for lunch but managed a table, book just in case. Good range of beers on tap, traditional and craft.
Lovely on all counts. Great food, large selection of drinks and great staff. Would recommend. Food was exceptional.
Nice pub and good food. Sea bream was delicious, not massive portions, but tasty. The raw veg salad was to die for and the cherry chocolate brownie was stunning. Very attentive, friendly service. Wheelchair access with ramps is available if you ask.
Lovely place to relax. Great food and fantastic bar staff. Loved the cocktails too!
I had great food and it was well cooked. Wait staff could get a bit more training; it is a gastro pub so not expecting too much but knowledge of what comprises the daily special would be good.
