Comfy local pub with a log fireplace offering a standard menu of food & drink & a weekly quiz night.
Food good got all eight meals out together. Very tired pub, staff seem lackluster.
A really nice experience. Food good, service good .
Really nice place lovely food and friendly staff very nice lunchtime
Choice at lunchtime was a little limited. The menu has been reduced I think. It was okay and thats about all.
Friendly staff. Good food efficient service. Clean
Served by a very rude woman who kept huffing and didnt listen to what I ordered ,I told her no ice in drinks but they came with ice , I told her and she chucked it back in ice bucket, abd gave me the wrong drink also ,she should spend time on customer relations rather than the amount of tatoos she has ,wont be eating there again, totally ruined my Sunday dinner .
Nice pub, open mic night on a Wednesday is busy - not enough bar staff on, beer expensive though - £4.55 for a pint of Wainwright. Watch out for the pay and display car park... enter your reg on the console in the pub, else youll get grief.
Wednesday nights are simply amazing - great open mic night
Lovely meal with the wife tonight. Food was really good and the staff was very polite. Thank you to Mark and staff for making our night special
absolutely amazing night out with my husband. the meals were beautifuly presented and tasted amazing. thank you to the staff and mark for a memerable experience
Friday night, Great pub, buzzing atmosphere. Haven’t been for a few months as kitchen was closed. Food was ok, didn’t get the order right and chicken was a little dry but overall it was ok and decent value. Looking forward to supporting my local pub. Please bring back the quiz night
So tried again to have a successful visit here …… pub was really empty considering it was a Friday night and hardly any real ales on. Very disappointed so headed to the Four Oaks.We think this pub needs a massive refurbishment ( similar to four oaks )Yes prices would go up but it would be worth itParticularly as they have something the Four Oaks doesn’t - a massive car park !
Very friendly team at the Crown, great pub to have as your local. Food was excellent on Friday, loved the Sea Bass.
Very nice place as remembered.Kitchen about to reopen.Nice relaxed pub.
The new Wednesday music venue. Excellent bar staff.
Excellent service, beautifully unkept beer garden
Nice place to go to if you want to kneel a quiet drink very clean would recommend it
Awful.Just been for Father’s Day lunch… absolutely awful experience.Food was pretty much inedible; service was awful.Lots of things from the menu unavailable (amazing that it being Father’s Day, they didn’t order in more stock).Everything was either fried to within an inch of its life, or stone cold. After the “meal” my wife was sick all night, so their food hygiene is clearly not up to scratch.1 hour wait for the mains; 1 hour wait for the desert (ice cream for the kids, so not that complicated).I’d give this place a miss until they up their game, which is a shame because it’s in a great location. There’s some much better pubs in the area: The Four Oaks, The Butlers Arms, The Old School House….
Very disappointed with our visit we got there for our booked table told we could sit anywhere, sat down to be confronted by a limed menu with hardly anything on it, as amazingly they had no chef my first and last visit to a pub that didnt even live up to to the pictures they put on the review
We booked a table at the crown pub for a father’s day meal. When we arrived, we were taken to a table of 6 even though we had booked for 8 people. We were told by the waitress that the bigger tables were taken. We were offered a smaller table which obviously wasn’t a solution. I asked why we were allowed to book a table of 8 if it wasn’t available and she just walked off with a bad attitude and never came back. We had to push the tables together and squeeze extra chairs on ourselves. We went to the bar to order food snd virtually everything was unavailable. However, we gathered that the pub may have been busy due to it being Father’s day so chose something else. Then came the 1 hour 20 minute wait. We wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt as again we gathered that they were busy. A waitress then came over and said that even more items were now not available. Why we were allowed to order them is beyond me. At this point it became clear that they hadn’t even started cooking the food so we asked for it to be cancelled and left. We went home and ordered a chinese! The bizarre thing about the whole experience was the fact that non of the staff seemed to have a clue what was going on either. The whole thing was a complete shambles from start to finish. Terrible service and a total lack of organisation. I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t taste any in the hour and a half we were there.
Lunch was great, cheeseburger was yummy. Met new manager Phil he was lovely made our visit comfortable will definitely return. :)
Very friendly staff even to our dog Cody and great food.
Great place to meet up and have a relaxing meal or just a few drinks.
James is a wonderful chap and I’ve always loved this venue excellent service
We had a party and buffet for 40 people here for my mums 50th. Grant ,Adam and team crown did an amazing job , friendly and quick service even with a live band on and being very busy :)
Flat beer in an uncleaned glass. Such a dark unfriendly environment. And the place stinks of Bodily Oder. Music blasting at 11pm. What an awful pub. Don’t recommend. Gone downhill the past few years only getting worse
Ordered a Stella and food for myself and my wife ...I took one swigg of my drink it tasted different within two mins I was outside being sick .. I took my drink back to the bar and explained what happened. They didnt do anything and carried on serving it ....my food was just warm and dry ...no sauce ...so that went back .it was pulled pork carne ...what a joke !!!! My wifes meal was enough to feed a mouse ..we came home and had ham sandwiches .. there was a 50% off offer on it needed to be 100 % off ....the place is lovely .but everything else is far from it .
Awful experience. Would not recommend this venue. Chose the fixed priced Sunday lunch menu. Service was slow and the dinner was cold when it finally arrived at the table. A complaint was made to the manger and the desert arrived quickly and was hot at least but with no apology. Realised when I got home i had been overcharged. An experience I will never repeat, avoid this venue.
Had a nice meal there with my dad. Great staff and they look after my dad when he visits.
An awful place won’t be returning beer was flat food was only just warm and had hardly any taste to it and the service was slow, it was so slow that paint would dry quicker.Shame really as Four Oaks is meant to be a desirable area so you would expect better but obviously not the case at The Crown. To top it off you have to pay for the pleasure of terribleness to park there, definitely a one star kind of place.
Pleasant ambience but noisy music and on this night, noisy family with kids. Not enough staff and food pleasantly corrected after complaining.
We enjoyed an excellent lunch here. I dont eat meat, and the cauliflower salad was a cut above.
Havent been for years. New manager was really welcoming and we had a great time. We will be back.
One of my favourite Ember Inns, always a great atmosphere. Love their band nights. They have some great deals on food. However food straight off the menu ( with no dealis rather expensive for run of the mill pub grub. I paid circa £11 for a smallish plate of veggie burger and chips.
AVOID! Having discovered a hair fully attached to my chips I was offered a cash refund of exactly £1.99 for the bowl of chips I clearly didn’t eat. No apology, no appeasing, just a pile of coins totalling £1.99.Appalling food and even worse customer service!
FIGHT AND PUB BRAWLI havent been to the Crown for 6 months because they never had any beer but I heard they had a new Manager so thought Id give it a try, I wish I hadnt. Some women started fighting in the pub, this turned into a brawl and spilled out on to the car park with more people fighting. Three Police cars arrived to sort it out. I think I may give the Crown a miss for a bit longer than 6 months this time.
Our First time, has our friends have move into the area.We had a enjoyable meal and staff were so helpfully We will certainly be going back again in a future
Food is standard pre prepared pub chain stuff ( chicken wings decent )However there was only one cask ale available which is a poor show for a pub
The venue is amazing, nice fireplace and seating areas. Facilities are clean.I enjoyed my food but what I would want to see improved is the table service. Although the drink came within a minute of ordering it via the app, the starter and main took longer than expected to arrive, so I spent longer time here than I should have.
Omg went tonight with friends we haven’t seen for a while. Prawn cocktail consisted of four small lettuce leaves ans 6 prawns with sauce bread came dry had to ask for butter!! Main course I had steak medium couldn’t get my knife thro it x onion rings rock hard x overall have to say really bad !! Not sur I would give them any rating and to be honest I don’t usually complain anywhere x but not good 😮
Service wasnt great at the outset.Had to ask for table to be cleaned even though we had reserved it and no one was using it when we arrivedFood wasnt great.Had to send meal back twice.m not that fussy with food butI ended up.not eating.Pie was overcooked to the extent that it was inedible .( Twice)Veg was full.of water when you bit into it.Chips were ok.They did refund us for meals. The whole place looks like it needs refurbishing to be honest.Toilets were smelly.Surprised to say the least..
First time visit to this pub today. We went for Sunday Lunch. We have been to another Ember Inn for Sunday lunch in recent weeks which wasn’t so good, but The Crown was delicious and we will definitely be back. Gravy was amazing, even the veg was good, not too hard and parsnips were well done which is great for us as that’s how we like them. The staff are so friendly and made us feel really welcome. All in all a tremendous experience and we will be back
Very poor service . Party of 6 four of ordered beef only for the waiter to return to explain run out then had to wait 30 minutes after starter for mains to arrive and when they did most were cold. The waitress apologised saying a chef had gone home but some of us had to send the food back as it was that cold. The portions were very small as the photograph displays, I initially ordered a trio of roasts but was presented with this cold offering. If it had not been a birthday meal i would have asked the manager if they considered this acceptable service
Had a day out Saturday with my wife and Auntie for her 83rd birthday. Fantastic service and a great meal thanks for making us feel safe and welcome. Sorry didnt get the Guys name and the lady who served us but both a credit to the Pub thanks again.
Excellent social distancing measures today (Fri lunch). Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Was quite happy to take 4 over 90s there for lunch and felt safe as had our own dedicated corner well away from other customers. Food was really good and great value too - hence 5*.
Very dissapointed with food. Not worth to spend money here. All came cold and untasty. We were going to organize Christmas party here but definitely NOT after todays experience...
Food was lovely when we got it, warned there was a 40 min wait, but was over 1 hour before mains arrived. We were compensated so they did try to rectify the poor service.
Very cosy place. Weve been here with some friends and really enjoyed. The tables are set in a manner that the place doesnt look crowded. Very family friendly for families with children 4+.The fireplace is gorgeous.
Good food, several choices off menu made, including steak which was cooked perfectly and tasty side including salad dressing. Bar staff were polite and helpful, quick servicing and knew order of waiting customers. Waiters were helpful and quick service with a smile. Really good atmosphere for a saturday night, quite busy would recommend booking a table.
Loved it! Clean, good food and prices.
