The Crab & Lobster - Restaurant in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka
Visited during lunchtime, and it was pretty empty. The server doubled as the hostess. She was attentive and had such a great attitude! We ordered two snow crab boils and a crab and shrimp boil in different flavors of butter. All of it was so delicious. At one point the manager came around and spoke to us for a bit, she was also really nice. Reasonable prices, especially for the quality of food and environment. Will definitely be back.
Excelent food dont know why not bigger crowd
Tried several times calling to place an order, no one ever answered and went to message asking for mailbox code. Guess they really dont care if they get orders
A bit pricey but good food. Will go back.
Crawfish was nasty along with terrible customer service, definitely not Cajun at all. Our family was highly disappointed, our 1st and only time going there.
Only reason Im giving one star is because our waiter, Julian was awesome and very friendly, the octopus & shrimp had no flavor, fried catfish seemed fried 3 times all in old grease, my friends fried shrimp didnt even taste like shrimp, even the the fries were horrible to all 3 of us that went, husband ordered boiled shrimp and it had zero flavor. Would not recommend whatsoever.
Service was great! Food? No. Quality? No. Taste? No. Overall? NOOOOOOO, don’t do it!!!!!!! No meat!!!! No satisfaction to food ratio. I do not recommend. The party I was with does not recommend. Two stars because of the service, THE ONLY REASON. (Ps, didn’t catch his name, so sorry dude!)
When here for a graduation celebration. All of the 8+ members (and some picky eatersof our group really liked it. I am a seafood junky and this is the best in San Angelo that I have found.
So amazing full bar ,place to eat the best place in town HIGHLY recommend it so delicious guys u should try it come on over , shoot shoot it🤙
Good food but bad service. They charge me twice and I cant get my refund back. When I called them, the lady just try to talk over me, wouldnt listen to me until i yelled, so rude.
Fast friendly and acceptable. 🦀🦞🦐🍤🐟🦑🦪I’m amazed that San Angelo has so many places that offer seafood. Most offer fried fish and some seafood. This place was good. Definitely not a place on the coast. Very laid back vibeTropical drinks that go down real easy. 🧉🍹🍻🍷🍸🍾🥃Had the fried catfish basket. Good, not fancy and filling. I’m a fried fish guy but don’t want to always do the cooking due to the mess.Would I go back?YesWould I hold a company party here? Not if it is a uppity group.Did my wife like the drinks?Oh yeah!😜🤣😊🧉🧉🍺Definitely a big step up from long johns🤮
We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess, and sat. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, food was hot and tasted great. Price point is amazing in comparison to the other place we have in town. Definitely would recommend to stop in and try.
Very nice people and the seafood was nice and fresh. I usually do red lobster, but with the size of what I got in my crab and shrimp boil put the ultimate feast from RD to shame. Very big shrimp too. Definitely recommend and will be back. Check it out before Halloween while they still have costumes! 👻
When I showed up I was a little skeptical because of the exterior but when I opened the door, an amazing aroma came at me and I knew I had to stay. The tables are lined with parchment paper ready for you to dump your meal onto the table, though I kept mine in the plastic bag to keep the meal warm. Very happy with this decision. The seasoning was out of this world and I truly enjoyed this place more than any other seafood place I’ve been too. I would recommend this to anybody who likes a good seafood boil. Wear the bib, your gonna get messy eating this great food!
Ill be very simple with this one to get you what you need to know about this place. GO! It is the best of the very few seafood/cajun places we have in the county I have found. Amazing quality fresh seafood and family recipe spices and sauces at every level of tolerance. I went mild and that was good for me on my items. I did a combo boil platter of mussels, tail-on shrimp, baby octopus, red potatoes, and a corn cob. I also got a massive shrimp cocktail with a killer tomato sauce base unlike I have had anywhere else. 12 shrimp in that cocktail! Plus diced avocado, cucumber, and onions. That think eats like a meal alone! Shenell, the owner since June 2020 is amazing. Super kind and friendly, told me about the family spices and recipes she uses in her popular dishes. I will be back here with my fiance soon to try more of the menu I scoured on this first visit. Prices are fair and portions huge. Quick service as well for a busy weekday night I will say as well.
Our first time time here, we ordered shrimp and sausage combo.. Everything seasoned perfectly .. the shrimp was boiled to perfection. potatoes, corn and boiled eggs accompanied our order.Cold beer and Crab sticks for appetizers. We now have a new favorite appetizer...Needless to say we had to ask for take out plates. I loved the atmosphere, decor, and friendly service anytime we can find patio dining its always a win. Look forward to returning when weather permits outdoor dining.
It was around 8pm, I was out and about, when I decided to have shrimp. I called the Crab, ordered shrimp for me and catfish for the black labs. The order was hot and ready in 10 minutes. The folks were friendly and food was perfect. Huge portions. Try the fried butterfly shrimp. Excellent.
I wasnt very impressed. I ordered the 1cluster of snow crab with shrimp boil. First off, Im used to the food being prepared in a closed bag to where it piping hot when I get it. That was not the case. The food was delivered on a platter and was lukewarm at best. The corn was col, old, and mushy. The seasoning left a lot to be desired. The Arnold Palmer I had was good though. Probably wont try them again.
Great service! My waitress (who’s name was dalessawas amazing and so attentive, we loved her!! Food came out so fast & tasted amazing
Daleesa was the best waitress ever!! She’s the sweetest thing in the world! Love the food and the environment. Recommend 10/10!! Best seafood in town.
I took my wife to The Crab for our anniversary dinner this evening. She ordered the catfish basket and was pleased. I ordered the crawfish basket, and was very disappointed to find that it was inedible. The crawfish was overcooked and hard, and I was unable to chew it. I ate some of my wifes catfish while we waited for the waitress to come back. When she asked how the food was, we told her that the catfish was very good, but that the crawfish was not edible (I have NEVER not eaten the food in front of me at a restaurant; this was a first in over 50 years of life). If this had been the only issue, I would overlook it and would be more than willing to give The Crab another try, particularly since there are many 5-star reviews about their boiled seafood. I believe that they are known for their boiled seafood, not their fried seafood. However, far larger than the fact that the food was overcooked was the waitresss reaction. She did not apologize. She did not offer to get the manager. She did not offer to see if there was something she could do to make it right. She just smiled at us and did not acknowledge anything at all. When the bill came, we were stymied as to how to handle the tip. We believe in tipping and do not believe in not tipping, though tipping meant that we were getting ready to pay $33 for an okay catfish basket that we split between the two of us. We went ahead and tipped 20%, but had buyers remorse about the tip immediately upon leaving the parking lot.We will not be returning to give The Crab a second chance, though not because of the quality of the food. I am always willing to give a place a second chance because of that; often, trying something else on the menu makes all the difference in the world. The reason we will not be returning is ONLY because the waitstaff did absolutely nothing to make things any better after being told the food was not acceptable.
The food was great, we got the snow crab and shrimp combo and it was cooked to perfection! If I could give more than five stars I would. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want good seafood!
Absolutely amazing 👏 hands down! We got the colossal combo with medium sauce! I loved it and carried us all at the table my husband thought it was a little spicy for him 🤣started sweating and panting but he said it was still great! I also recommend the shark attack drink if you like to have a drink its great!
The service was great but the food was okay to be and very salty to my taste.
All Websites say “Open M-Su til 9pm” - no one answers the phone at 5:30pm!We finally went back when they were open & got a to-go order. The shrimp was tasteless & like rubber tires. The Dungeness Crab was good, but the Snow Crab shells were like rubber & had a weird fishy aftertaste. This meal was WAY overpriced for the poor quality we received. The quantity of food was great. The seasoning was good on the outside, but didn’t permeate into the inside of the fish. I will continue to rate this restaurant with ONE STAR.*NOTE* I returned to this location for lunch one day & the crab legs were great & service was great! Perhaps they had some growing pains at first. With my last visit, I would give them 4 Stars.
Easy to find location with plenty of parking and delicious food!!! Best seafood boil in the town! Large outside patio seating area as well.
This place is flippin awesome. Food and service was excellent. Thank you for the experience! Well definitely be coming back. My compliments to the chef/cooks!
OK so I have sort of mixed feelings about this place. The people that work there are super nice. They treat you very well and are very attentive. I cannot speak for the whole menu, but as far as the fried fish plate is concerned it was nowhere near my expectations. I cannot speak for any of the other entrées, because I did not try any of the crawfish, crabs, or shrimp. I will not trash the name of this place, based on my one time experience. If you’re willing to try it out go in with an open mind and make your own decision.
The sauce was very bland. Seafood was very poor quality. The manager told me to bring back the food for a refund. Only refunded less than half of what I paid. Not worth the price and wont come back again.
This is a great place if your looking for amazing sea food in the area! They are about to be adding a sushi bar and the drinks are always wonderful. It’s not on the menu but the Korean chicken wings are by far the best I’ve ever had!!!!
I always have a great experience here grabbing a few drinks after work with my fabulous waiter— Colt!! The drinks come out quick and the beers are always cold!
If your looking for good seafood & Cajun style food then this is the place!!! The food was Awesome & the staff was too!!! Our waiter Colt was Awesome & went out of his way to get us what we asked for.Great Food, Service & Great Staff!!!Thank you!!!
The catfish is some of the best in San angelo. Friendly staff. Very nice place. Go try the catfish you will be amazed
So this was our first time here, we were super excited. We ordered a combo bucket for me and she ordered a fried shrimp basket since she doesnt care for boiled. We also ordered an app of wings. They bring out my bucket 1st and 45mins later Im done and no wings no shrimp basket....yet everyone else in the restaurant has their food. Waiter tells me they have small fryers...well when several tables had fried food and they came in after us, I have to call BS. It ruined our whole experience here. The owner can only say Im sorry. Not how can I fix this, how can I get you to give us another try..👎We wont be back and thats sad.
In theory this is a great idea and should be packed every night. However, this place is overpriced for the quality of food which is received. The spices are on point. We had crab and shrimp which, as stated, was seasoned well. The cook of the shrimp (1 pound of it)was way over. If you visit, do yourself a favor and avoid the shrimp. I do recommend the crab, cooked well. BUT, they dont have seafood forks, so expect to get messy.
Terrible customer service from the owner. Took 30 minutes to get wings and another 20 to get a draft beer. The waitresses were excellent , asked if we needed anything, and served us perfectly, but the cooks ,bar tending, and behind the counter staff is TRASH. Over all food was good but such terrible service I’d never want to go here again. My grandfather wasn’t able to even enjoy his food. Would not recommend
Crab was good with decent flavor but the shrimp was way over cooked I couldnt even bring myself to eat them and the tea tastes like sweet dish water. They also dont own seafood forks or offer you tools to break your claws which is weird to me at a seafood place. Because of the shrimp being inedible Id honestly say save your money.
First my husband and I went in and they said cash only because the machines were down. We left and came back with cash. After we got sat 3 other tables came in and got greeted and no one came to pur table. I went to the bar and asked if there was a server in that section and they said yes and the server finally came over. I notice it was the same girl standing around talking to the bartender. She takes our drink order and brings our drinks and takes our order then never came back. The bartender brought my margarita and our food and cashed us out. We never got refills or anything but we saw our server chatting it up with her other tables. Also the food was not seasoned and I didnt expect that from a cajun type place.
This place was great! All the staff was super friendly and helpful. I sat at the bar and the bartender was a nice lady and explained everything on how it worked because it was my first time in. Its all by the pound a little expensive but it was worth it. I cant wait to go back!
Snow Crabs👍Dungeness Crab 👍 Shrimp 👍 Crawfish is a meh... Seasoning 🔥🔥🔥 is spot on. Be prepared to get dirty and enjoy!
All in all, they’re amazing. We really needed more seafood places in San Angelo & they have out done themselves. All the reviews that complained about waiting, you should expect that when being served at a brand new restaurant. It’s going to take time to have it all down when you’re bringing in a brand new staff and when you’re not sure how many people you’re going to bring in. Food is amazing, staff is kind and apologetic for the wait. The food though is truly like the seafood you get on a beach vacation!!!
Great food although a lot of work (to be expected with crawfish and crab!). Great flavor with plenty for everyone. We were forgotten about on the wait list on a Thursday night when it wasnt incredibly busy. If youre looking for good drinks, stick with the beer here. Pretty sure the bartender had no idea the correct way to make drinks. Service was slow. Overall great environment and our party of 3 had a great time!
AMAZING service as well as food!! 100% would recommend! New restaurant so just assuming everyone that has left a bad review for this place have no life and are just not happy people! Give them a chance everyone has learning curves!
The Crab, I read the reviews but I went anyway. A cute young lady in blue jean shorts, a mask, and bright eyes met us at the door. The aroma, sun bleached wooden floor, long tables covered with paper instantly transported me to a bayou café in Louisiana.A wiring young man promptly appeared at our table to fulfill our drink and appetizer desire. A frosty draft beer for me, thank you very much, and a tall ice tea for my friends. Onion rings with deep fried mozzarella sticks will do nicely to start. Our server disappeared but soon returned balancing a towering ice-laden mug of golden goodness and two rich ice teas that would have made grandma proud. The offerings are as varied as their price $12 to $100. Crab, blue, dungeon, king, the whole crab alphabet. Did I mention craw fish, oysters, and shrimp? Shrimp fried, boiled, steamed by a single order or by the pound served in a tin bucket. Did you want those shrimp seasoned mild, hot, or sign this waiver, for the full Cajun experience.I had barely taken the third sip of my libation when our appetizers arrived with dipping sauce. Cornmeal dredged onion rings, hot and sweet. Firm finger length mozzarella cheese sticks deep fried to a golden hue. More than we could hope to vanquish before our meal arrived. To call them shrimp is inaccurate; these were prawn, big and sweet, succulent, swimming in crimson sauce. Without ceremony I donned the plastic gloves provided before dumping the bucket of shrimp, corn on the cob and potatoes on the table before us. This was going to get messy!Great service, reasonable prices for what you get, prepared and served by people who care about their customers.
Everything about the to-go order experience was horrible!!! The person on the phone that put the order in kept saying “hold on a sec” in an angry voice and then said “what did you want again?”I had to repeat each part of my order several times and then she had to have a conversation with someone else asking them what it was that I was ordering and where it was on the menu (I ordered seafood gumbo and the shrimp combo and a soft shell crab). When I arrived the restaurant it was completely packed and in total chaos (tables less than 3 feet apart and none of the customers were wearing masks and many of the wait staff had their masks below their mouth and no one was being waited on). When I asked where to pick up a to-go order the hostess said “go over there”. Being my first time there I walked towards the back and was run over by one of the wait staff and she just kept right on going. Three people ran up to me and were arguing over who would check me out and a forth brought me my food. They finally figured out which to-go order to charge me for and slammed the receipt on the counter “sign it!” Another woman came up and grabbed the receipt and commented that I hadn’t left a tip. I told her that tips are for customer service and I hadn’t received any. When I got the order home there were no potatoes or corn in the shrimp combo, the gumbo consisted of gravy sauce and a small amount of rice with one tiny shrimp and I don’t know how to describe the soft shell crab except as a gooey fried shell. When I called to let them know the order was incorrect, the hostess at the door answered the phone and passed me to two people and they told me the manager was in the bathroom. When the manager finally spoke to me I was told in a very angry hard to understand voice “that’s how the crabs come you just eat the fried shell there’s no meat”. She yelled at me and said that if I wanted she would refund me the price of the potatoes but that’s all I would get, and that she would write my name down for the $2.50 for the next time I came in. I told her no thank you I would not be coming back. We did try the shrimp and it was very tough and even coating it in the sauce didn’t help the flavor. Zero stars for The Crab...They need Jon Taffer of Bar/Restaurant Rescue to even have a remote chance of making it!
I read the reviews before entering expecting bad service and terrible food. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was very good. I odered the shrimp and it was pretty amazing. The shrimp were big and the seasoning was just right. Not sure what the others ordered or expect but I will definitely go back. Price os no more than the big city. Definitely wear the gloves and bib..it is a bit messy.
Went for the first time yesterday and I got food poisoning from their food! I have been throwing up the food all night. Not to mention the horrible customer service when we arrived, no one could help us or ask us what we needed. We got a to-go order and it was cold, along with not fresh, it tasted like the food had been sitting for some time before we even called to order it. Over priced and not worth it.
First time there. The service wasn’t good we waiting about 10 min before any one waited on use. The guy that waiting on us needs training. The food was ok. Priced high for what you get but it wasn’t bad. Could have been way better. They way they do it. The flavor doesn’t get into the shrimp or crab meat. Its hard to say if we will go back or not. It is not a place where it will go regular. Hard to find a good seafood place in this town. I just know if the service doesn’t improve they will not last. There was only one guy even wearing a mask while serving quest. The other didn’t respect the 6 ft In general rule. There was signs hanging also talking about.
I was so excited to come in and try The Crab! First I just want to say if I could give lower than one star I would. The service was horrendous. There needs to be serious changes if this place wants to keep its customers. The staff had no urgency to help or address any of their customers. We sat for over 30 mins waiting for a server to help us. Finally we approached to ask where we could order and were told they seated 3 different families (including usin a section not assigned to a server. Regardless there were several different servers that made eye contact but did not appear as if it was their responsibility to help any of us. Food was pretty flavorless especially for the price. And you might as well order a normal size drink for your toddlers because you’re going to pay the same price for a kids drink as you would a normal drink.
We went and tried the new restaurant The Crab today. I can honestly say we were not impressed! Dont waste your money. The cajun calamari was not hand breaded and had no flavor and you get store bought marinara sauce out of a jar (and half a container at that and get charged for extra). We waited for an hour and a half for food. Then the shrimp had no flavor. We were almost done with our food before we got the crackers (for crab legs after I had to ask for them at the start and was told let me see if I can find some). I will be shocked to see them last unless they change some things. The hostess was the one who kept telling us what was going on with our food.
