Food is great, one of the staff members was quite rude though. Very blunt and all over rude to us.

I dont usually write these but this place needs to improve! One star as most of the staff were doing a reasonable job and one star for the great location. The food was OK but amateur.The guy who seemed to be boss didnt seem to be aware of the front-of-house host role and welcoming guests.One plate came out with hard food residue stuck to it and both had a thin film on them that I managed to polish off (it left a slight mark on the serviette). We had the plates replaced and the next ones both had the same film.No chilli, Chinese vinegar or soy to be found so I just went to the counter and took pepper and salt... nothing on tables.The Food: bland, Singaporean noodles tasted like Indian food (cumin mainly). The "King" prawns: ok but nothing special. In the big cities this food would get an amateur rating of about 2-2.5 out of 5.

Food was delicious and the staff friendly and professional even with the busy night... had a wonderful time...

Very good Chinese food. Fantastic sunsets. The Peking Duck is magnificent. Absolutely worth a visit. Right opposite caravan park if staying there so extremely convenient.

Very long wait time an hour and a half. My combo soup was very bland. Cocktails were nice and young girls serving did a good job.

Read other peoples reviews so we gave it a try. The food was lovely. Driving distance of 10 muns from queens beach where we stayed. The staff were lovely and the reviews were much what they said. Relaxing atmosphere looking across to the water.

Stay away food is tasteless ordered Sizzling Garlic King Prawns and Coconut RiceThe serving would rate as an Entree and lacked any Garlic flavourThe Rice was not Coconut at all and when we complained a bowl of real Coconut Rice was thrust on the table near finish of our mealOn paying our bill there was no apology from the very rude mgr although we did not pay for the Coconut Rice $5 big dealBe warned the servings are small tasteless and Management so rude to suggest “he doesn’t care about reviews “We’ll he should because people don’t go there.

Let me start by saying the Chinese/Thai inspired food is excellent and worth visiting on its own merit. My 3 star is solely based on the service we had that night. I will acknowledge covid impacting staff availability and being a busy Sat night. HOWEVER, these are the service issues that detract from the food. Upon entry talking to front desk worker to identify our booking and table, she stopped mid sentence to answer phone leaving us hanging. Target store purchased tracksuit & runner wearing male wearing glasses (assume manager or ownerthen interveened simply pointed to our table far side of room snapping "table 3" and simply waving us over to it was not a good start. Sat at our table for 30 min at not once approached by staff for drinks or to order. Ended up going to the bar ourselves to buy drinks. Nearby table having similar issue and had to tell young waiter that we had not had our order taken at 40 min mark.. Young waiter simply walked to our table with pen and paper in hand and stood mute looking at us. I counted 7 young (<20yrfemale staff this night doing the best they could. Food orders eventually brought to table in silence and dumped on table by staff. No engagement with us. Im not blaming any of the young waiters as they did not have a senior to coach, mentor or show them the ropes of their role. Appears management have just roped in any available young female to work. This was not a restaurant experience. The restaurant emptied out by 7.30pm with most tables remaining empty so dont hesitate to book a bit later. Less busy might improve the service. This is probably the best feed in Bowen with most locals I sought recommendation from nominating this place. If this venue was anywhere else but Bowen up against competition it might not survive. Hopefully management can focus on improving service and training/advice for waiters and maybe have a senior on deck. Service 3 but food 5.

We were looking forward to a lovely Thai meal as recommended by our neighbours in Airlie. Unfortunately it is not Thai, its Chinese.Whilst it is in a very desirable location, the owner/maitre de was very unfriendly and the food very ordinary.After phoning to ask if we could dine outside on the deck with a small dog and told we could, we were made feel very unwelcome.

Stayed 3 klm out of town in nice old ensuite site with camper trailer (Bowen Palms$40 / n, bargain, so spent money we saved on expensive accommodation on eating out. Coves restaurant specialises in Chinese or Thai , service great, food superb , location overlooking Horshoe Bay at sunset, bloody awesome

I had the duck with plum sauce. Fantastic generous amount of duck, tender, juicy, crispy, no bones. Loved it.

Delicious food, friendly wait staff but very rude person at check out ruined the experience. She managed to be offensive and insulting without any effort at all and for no reason. Was completely complimentary about the experience yet she was insulting in her comments. Wont be back despite the beautiful location and food. Hope you have a better time and dont come across her in a bad mood. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.

Delicious Chinese cuisine. A lovely restaurant lay out with Alfresco seating available, accompanied by the unique surroundings and picturesque view of one the beautiful beaches Bowen has to offer.

My family and I enjoyed a beautiful dinner at your restaurant last night and very much enjoyed the food, view and atmosphere. However, the added extra for us was a lovely young lady called Jasmine who attended to our every need and delighted us with her sparkling personality! We are already looking forward to returning next year.

Pleasant meal,great views over the ocean. Watched Sunset .We were charged a $1 to mix my drink of spirit and dry ? Staff asked if we wanted a container for our leftovers,we said ok!! I filled it. On our bill was 50cents for it. Really !!!

Had a great takeaway Chinese meal after a busy day. They were busy but the food came out in a timely fashion and was lovely and hot. We enjoyed it. Reasonable price too.

One of bowens gems. Make sure you go for a sunset dinner overooking the million dollar view. Fantastic food too, salt and pepper eggplant is next level.

Been coming here for 5 years. An absolute gem.Fantastic food, fantastic views, fantastic service.We normally sit out on the deck for the gentle breezes and unobstructed views.

Amazing views, good food and reasonably priced. Enter at your own risk though, hardly a mask in sight on staff and no checking of vax status in a high traffic tourist location.

Disappointed.Poor service, tasteless food, bad cocktails. The prices would be fair for a restaurant with good food and service, unfortunately, this was not the case. Cove has a great location, but that’s where it ends. The food was bland in flavour, dry & reheated. My $18 margarita had a murky orange hue and was not drinkable. The staff need training in customer service, they did not know the menu and lacked experience. No smiles. People are happy to pay for good service - we wasted our money at this venue.

Travelled to Bowen from Mackay to meet halfway with some Townsville friends. After giving this restaurant a second chance, I am left feeling disappointed again with my experience. It is clear staff lack training and basic customer service skills. The food is mediocre and drinks are overpriced for the quality given. Simple expectations of how a restaurant should operate were not met. This restaurant has potential to be great with new management and better training and guidance provided to staff. I’ve already found myself telling friends and family not to bother spending their money at this restaurant if they ever visited Bowen. Such a shame as the location is beautiful.

17 of us went tonight,The food was very good, but the staff could not handle a large table for the banquet at all.If there was a few more educated more experienced staff to help out the young ones I think it would of been a more enjoyable experience

Location great and spectacular views. Food tastes great and meat very tender. An hour later we were extremely thirsty! MSG! Didnt think anyone ever used that anymore. The fried rice which costs an extra dollar isnt fried just steamed rice with a few extra bits.

An accidental find on a day trip from Airlie beach! Walking along the beach collecting shells with our daughter and saw the restaurant sign so thought wed pop in for lunch. So glad we did, the food was sensational! We had Singapore noodles and chicken salad. One of the best meals on our trip😋

Avoid at all costs until management changes.Unfortunately this place has taken farAfter my last visit where a poor example of food was served, after a more than ONE HOUR wait from ordering.But now Im at a wedding. The waiters and waitresses brought out entrees clockwise to all the guests nearly constantly. Leaving a whole section starving or eating scraps that no one else wanted.The first meal came with fried rice, that needed something... Yes, frying would have helped..Its such a shame

A hidden gem in Bowen. Set out on the headland this restaurant serves up tasty, well presented Chinese food. We had the fabulous roast duck in soy, the seafood with basil and veg plus a small plate of fried rice. This is also the perfect place to watch the magnificent sunsets whilst enjoying a sundowners.

We love the roasted duck and sizzling steak! The view also stunning.

Great spot to stop for food. Detoured and stumbled across this place on my drive up north and I’m glad I did! Great food for the price and lovely views.

Its a bit tricky to find the entrance to this place. Once you drive up the road to the apartments building on your left drive in the carpark where you will find the restaurant.The food is very lovely and the service provided by the young waitresses also.Very very beautiful spot to take your date, do a family event or just treat your self to this lookout of the beach front.Reasonably priced and good quantities and quality.The beef salad is spot on, the basil seafood is great, I only hope the chef there to go easy on salt and garnish it with sesame seeds.

Food was amazing, couldnt be a more beautiful spot, would pay to book in busy season and definitely if you want to sit outside.Could of been back in Asia, the food was beautiful and tasted like genuine food from Thailand. Only negative and its because I didnt realise and wasnt asked I guess but if you want rice etc you have to order separately. I wish I had done that but I was full when I left.I went back twice 😀.

The Cove advertises on Google as a Chinese restaurant, so no surprise the BBQ (PekingDuck with Soy was awesome and the steamed rice was cooked perfectly, white, fluffy and yum.The menu also offers the usual Thai classics, but the Thai dishes (we chose green curry & Yom yum, both with Goonghad a distinct Chinese vibe... i.e. the sauces were cornstarch glazes.Great headland position and the staff were busily helpful, even though the place was packed at Christmas.
