The Corner Grill - Greek restaurant in Dubuque, United States
This guy runs a entire restaurant by himself! Everything from waiting tables to the kitchen and still has a positive outlook on life. The food is the best for miles when it comes to Greek entrees and your plate is over flowing for the price. A true hidden gem!
The food was good. A very unique place. Be ready for a surreal experience.
The food was really fresh and delicious! The prices were reasonable and you got plenty of food.
This place is great. The owner is super nice and we enjoyed talking to him. The food was nice, too. My kid wasnt sure about a grilled cheese on pitas bread, but they ate the whole thing. Their baklava and rice pudding were both delicious. I think it was our favorite part of the meal.Overall, a nice little dive in Iowa. Will visit again when I find myself in Dubuque.
Best DBQ location for gyros! Love the baklava for dessert. 💓
I love the food here...Its possibly the best Greek food Ive had outside of Greece, but the service here can be painfully slow. Last week, I waited 25 minutes for a gyro. I hope the owner sees this so he can work it out and make this place the gem that it could be.
Great gyros, Greek salad. Friendly staff. Dated interior but clean.
The owner is very nice and the Gyro’s are really good!
The Corner Grill is an awesome place to stop for a quick snack or a full meal. The staff is friendly the place is clean and we do visit as often as possible.
Really nice owner, great food, and prices are great, especially for the portions.Im going to be a new regular here!
Story time! March 9th 2017 would have been my first experience with this wonderful place. That was the date of my first date with my wife, but alas, they were closed. 2 weeks later however, I finally was able to enjoy it.Yanni is a wonderful human. He makes incredible food and really puts his soul into it. I have eaten a ton of gyros in my life, but Yanni really makes the best. His hummus is to die for and his tzatziki is top notch. Simple restaurant with no unnecessary bells and whistles. They only take cash, but have an ATM conveniently located in the dining room. Yanni has survived a lot to keep this gem going. I couldnt recommend this place more. Its a corner stone of Dubuque and if you arent going here weekly, youre not doing life right.
Love love love best gyros in townGreat owners quite place to go!
The food is amazing here... definitely the best place for a Gyro (ask for Supremein town - or on our travels - it truly is Authentic Greek food and is made fresh daily... the other options are wonderful, too - the Grilled Chicken Kabob is super yummy. Their employees are all very nice and make you feel welcome. We love to pickup our orders to go, too. This is a family favorite - highly recommend!
Ok..so I love a good hole in the wall restaurant as much as the next guy but...This is quite possibly the weirdest dining experience ive ever had. I dont know if i should be upset or thankful to have experienced such an atrocity. Im literally laughing at what a disaster this place is, so its hard to be mad that i wasted 30 bucks. For starters, when we walked in, there was nobody to be seen and then a young kid came up and seemed unsure about which of the 3 tables we should sit at. When we took a seat at the booth with the dilapidated "monet" picture hanging above the table without a frame, i couldnt help but notice the 2x4 protruding through my ass on the seat. We asked if they have beer and the young kid wasnt sure but found out shortly that they do. The young waitress that took our order said she was new and asked us to point out what we wanted on the menu. We placed our order and the owner/cook came (out all sweaty and with a blue glove on one hand as he was confused about the salad that came with the spanikopita and we said that we wanted the dinner and he said "oh i thought she messed up shes new and ahes2 only 16." Shortly thereafter, the waitress brought out two pasta salads that we didnt order and disappeared. We asked the table near us if they ordered pasta salads and they did so we handed them over. My fiances food was brought out about 5 minutes before mine and her food was cold by the time we were ready to eat. We asked for another beer and the 16 year old girl brought one to the table. I waited to ask for ketchup but everyone disappeared so I had to go open the cooler and get it myself. The owner came out again and asked how the food was and I told him honestly that it was ok. At one point while we were eating, a guy came through with a black garbage bags full of cans and bottles (talking loudly on a wireless headset. We were overcharged by $1.00 on the spanikopita. The owner was friendly but again his appearance should have kept him in the kitchen and that blue glove never came off his hand even as he reached into his pocket to pull out a wad of cash to give me my change. Overall this place has a lot to be desired. You have to have really good food to make up what you lack in appearances and service and the food here was average at best. Also napkins were hard to come by. We had to ask specifically for them.
Great food and friendly service. Enjoy trying new items from the menu.
The food is delicious and very generous portions. The owner/chef is very friendly and when possible comes out to check on customers and make sure everyone is enjoying their food.
Nice little place. Very good gyro. Large portions. You will not leave hungery.
Fantastic food in a rustic corner tavern with great service! Well be back!
Fresh ingredients, great food. My family has eaten here several times and weve never been disappointed.
What a nice place to have a meal! The food was great! Made with quality, authentic ingredients, prepared with attention to detail and flavor. Our host was friendly and courteous, but even more than that he was real and interesting. I had delicious Greek food, prepared with ingredients from Greece. My wife has a cheeseburger, prepared with a perfection that every cheeseburger should have -- every detail correct. Do yourself a favor and stop by The Corner Grill for a meal; you will leave happier than when you arrived!
Best Greek food in Dubuque. Friendliest owners in town. Go!
Great food, huge portions, low priced and a super nice proprietor!
The ambiance, food and service is amazing! We came to stay in Galena, and found this hidden gem in Dubuque to try and we were not disappointed! Yanni, the owner, gives you the feeling of being part of his family and takes great pride in his delicious authentic and fresh food! He was super friendly and helpful with helping us find things to do around town.Yanni is a great and genuine local business owner that you like to see working hard at the American Dream, something we love to support, especially when he gives back to the community! This is definitely a place we will come back to visit and support! With the local construction all around his place we truly hope the community steps up and helps local businesses like The Corner Grill stay afloat!
Good solid greek food. Portion sizes are large so consider sharing.
To echo other reviews, best greek food Ive ever had and the owner (Yanniis a riot. Hidden gem of Dubuque for sure.
Bomb a** gyros! Owner treats customers like family. I dont get to come here as often as Id like, but when I do, tears of foodie joy!
Absolutely wonderful food! The most kind, genuine service. Very happy with my visit and definitely a new "go to" for me!
Best Gyro Ive ever had. Also tried the Athenian sampler...wonderful. Baklava was outstanding. He makes you feel as though you are joining his family for dinner. You can feel the love on every plate.
Best Greek food in town, hands down. The owner has an old school way about operating his establishment.
Big city gyros and the best (only?spanikopita in Dubuque. The owner (who greets and seatsis quirky friendly and the kitchen is quick and good.
Best Greek food in the area! Coming from the Chicago area, I was spoiled by the food in Chicagos Greektown. I came to Dubuque, tried gyros at a few places and was sadly disappointed UNTIL I tried the ones from the Corner Grill! Some of the best food Ive tasted. Everything that Ive tried there has lots of flavor and is such a good value! Yanni is super friendly and will help move you out of your comfort zone to try new things.
From out of town and with construction everywhere, we decided this would be a great place to try, which was in walking distance. Seriously, its amazing. Didnt think I could lobe a gyro anymore than I already did. Get the loaded Gyro, feta cheese was a great addition! Very personable owner and a beautiful patio in the back to chill and eat.
Super chill, quiet place for lunch. Owner is good company as well. Dont find many places like this anymore. Ill be back.
Behind its unassuming exterior, the Corner Grill serves generous portions of delicious Mediterranean food. Looking forward to returning when next in Dubuque.
Very good gyros! Could use some interior decoration.
Great food, fast service, but they dont take cards. The only staff I saw, though they were very helpful, were two boys aged maybe 8 and 14.
Best gyros in town. Awesome owner. You can tell he loves what he does!
Great food and very friendly owner. My favorite gyro Ive ever tasted. Will definitely go back.
If you are looking for a place off the beaten path and great food, the Corner Grill is the place to get outstanding Gyros. The waffle fries are the best in the tri-state area.
Great Greek food in a wonderful place. The owner knows how to make everyone feel welcome and runs an amazing place.
I love the gyros and the rice pudding! Everything is so fresh an d so tasty everytime I go in there to grab a bite.
Im a truck driver and Ive eaten in hundreds of places all over the country, and its the best Greek food Ive had yet. Especially for the price. Damn good
If you dont like gyros, go here to have your mind changed! The man behind this authentic Greek food makes this a MUST DO if you are in Dubuque! While it may not look like a first class joint, the food will keep you coming back for more.
Excellent gyros. The owner is funny and personable, and the food is delish!
The owner is the nicest guy ever. Make sure to get dessert! The baklava is amazing!!!!
I go there every chance I get. Wish it were more often. Love the food and service!!!
Great gyros! Great tazyki sauce. The price is reasonable and the owner is very friendly!
Previously the Athenian Grill, the Corner Grill is located just as its name- on the corner. Very clean and good service where we feel like we are at home. Owner is Greek so I just soak up that accent. My go to place for all things Gyro - traditional, Aegean Salad, Philly Gyro, gyro melt and more. Burgers are huge and the fries are crisp and very hot. Inside is very clean and simple. Beer available and you can go out back to the private patio if it is nice. Free on-street parking. Say hi to Jony and tell him Jennifer sent you.
Incredible food! The guy who runs the place is from Greece. He makes the best Greek food in Iowa – hands down. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but I suggest the Athenian sampler. You will not be able to finish it! I will definitely return to this place next time I am in Dubuque!
Great food. Service was fast. Restaurant needs a little updating, but do not let it discourage you.
