The Comet Pub & Lanes - Bowling Alley in North Druid Hills, United States
Zero respect for veterans - yikes! Comet has always been our go to for local bowling for YEARS. This evening I asked my husband who served two tours in Iraq where he wanted to go for Veterans Day and he said Comet to bowl. Upon arrival I had asked if there were any specials for those who served. The front desk gentleman said no and I asked if he’d be so kind to ask a manager if there’s anything they’d be willing to for such a special day for those who served to afford these folks the freedom to own a business and work where they would like thanks to their freedom. The young man came back and said the manager wasn’t willing to do anything and sorry. Honestly, that’s so super sad and pathetic. We spend THOUSANDS of dollars here per year and you can’t even offer a 10% discount, free beer, anything for our vets?! Shame on you. Would love to have a conversation with the owner on how they can honor our military and better support their community as the people and “policies” they have in place only benefit one entity… sad and insanely disappointed.
A nice establishment… if you want Hollywood it’s not that. It’s a real spot for locals. The guy at the register made a good old fashion… with orange rind
The best bowling alley around. It isnt cheap like the old Fun Time bowling and you have to plan your visit or else you may not get a lane. Basically weekends seem to require a reservation and rates are high. We usually like to go around noon on a weekday, cheaper rates and open lanes.
One of my favorite experiences, my group of family and friends gathered here to celebrate one of my dearest friends and it was phenomenal! Service was on point fun atmosphere and the food and drinks were awesome I wish I got the bartenders (we were serviced by more than one guywere great too! Great family fun and I believe after 10 or so it became a grown up space which was cool cause we were lit lol Great place 10/10 recommend for sure
Super fun atmosphere, staff was super nice and helpful! Food was great as well! The wings are huge and crispy! :P
Found this little hole in the wall hidden gem, I love it there and the prices aren’t bad. Super friendly staff and bowlers
First time here since the rebuild. Located in Decatur GA, across from the hospital and in the back of the Home Goods in the Suburban plaza. It looks like an old bowling alley from the 80s. It used to be bright with red carpet and short table, only seating 4. When you walk in the doors you enter a long hallway. Once inside youre transported to an 80s movie with the glow in the dark carpet, low lighting and wooded areas. (I was waiting for the clouds of smoke😂)The counter to get your shoes is on the right, as well as the bathrooms. Theres an arcade area with a few games and a pool table in the back. Several high rise tables and chairs. The bar is to the left, along with the kitchen. A plethora of TVs align the bowling area with scores as well as the game of the day. Lots of lanes. There are tables along the back of the lanes for eating. Check out my pics and videos for more info.
Fun place. I reserved two lanes for our grandsons and us. Glad I did for it was a busy place. Thursday is the only day the lanes are open before 5. The lanes are equipped with bumper guards which is great for beginning kids. We also utilized the ball cradle to help the kids. The food/service was good. The staff was friendly. The reservation process was easy. The small arcade was a nice adventure for the kids. All in all a good time! Thanks to all the staff. Will visit again!
Seemed. Decent was as looking to watch a football game but they werent equipped
on 9/17/22 we took mother and had family day doing ok until bar lady refused my granddaughter a drink wouldnt accept her ID on her mobile they shut all ourlanesdown totally disrespectful 😑 never will go again we had 3 lanes 25 shoes and food ordered along with the aclholfine until this nasty looking bar lady
I had a nice experience here. The others bowling in the lanes on each side of me was very nice we laughed and cheered one another on.
Didn’t have the best experience here. The two bar tenders went out of their way to ignore me and my friend who were trying to order and literally helped everyone else at the bar. Even when we’re we’re the only ones left they decided to clean up and fill up water instead of taking our order. Another friend had to come over and be aggressive for the one bar tender to pay attention only for him to say that he was busy and he’d get to us when he was done doing somethings. We ultimately ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Couldn’t justify spending my money here when we clearly weren’t wanted there.
We always have a good time at Comet! You can rent lanes by the hour or pay by the game. The staff are very responsive to issues with the lanes and ball return. They will also turn on the bumpers for the whole lane or for each specific bowler. The food is delicious. We especially love the pizza and the battered onion rings and fried mushrooms.
Simply one of the best places to have fun time with friends and family. They have both the per hour and per game options for bowling lanes. Rental shoes are also available at great price. Love their cheese bread, we ordered 1/2 but it was too much for 2 people. We couldn’t finish it off and it was delicious. Definitely a place to try out and it’s worth the buck!
The children and I had a wonderful time the staff was very professional and nice, the place was clean. The food pricey.
Rest Rooms are always clean and I really appreciate that,KEEP up the good work.
The bar staff was horribly rude and aggressive. I have had a nice time here in the past, but tonight left a bad taste in my mouth and it wasn’t the beer.
Really lovely place, but have to agree with other reviews in that the folks working the front desk make you feel absolutely unwelcome. The prices and process are very unclear, they dont explain anything to you, make you feel dumb for asking, one person wouldnt even speak out loud, they just kept pointing at things and wouldnt speak. It took us about 30 minutes to get settled into our lane and to start a game, and that was already half the time that we paid for gone.
Weird night maybe. Why would you not let people pay for a lane when your open for another 35 minutes ? Loss of revenue for beer and lanes.
A lot of fun!!! It was my first time and we had a blasting time. Friendly staff and customers 👍👍it is refreshing when you go to a place and you can see everybody have fun.
The employees here are EXTREMELY rude. I have never had a good experience with the employees. One of the women that works there has been super rude to me multiple times and spoke to my family and myself in a very demeaning way. My 17 year old brother was literally cussed at tonight by one of the men that works there because he was trying to order food and for some reason that upset the employee. Honestly I don’t think I’ll ever go back there again after this. So disgusting
Great food, great beer, the worst service of all time.Seriously, if this place would fire the two girls rudely working the front and the man serving drinks, Than you’d have a hell of a business on your hands. Instead, you’re immediately met with careless, rude, disrespectful and bordering on mean (employeeswho lied about prices and didn’t even acknowledge the sign above saying 30$ all day Sunday. We went to celebrate a birthday and left feeling like we would could have died and the workers would just step over our cold lifeless bodies. Go antwhere else and you’ll get the same thing with people who care. Shut this place down! Worst people.
We were told if we are bowling and want to add on more games, we would have to get back on a waiting list. Never heard of anything so crazy like this while bowling. I dont care to spend my money where we are notwelcomed. Our lanes kept having issues and no one apologized, they didnt care.
Not the nicest or cleanest bowling alley. 40$ an hour to bowl per lane. Full bar and menu serving the usual lane fares. Some arcade games in the back. Pool tables 12$ an hour.
Very clean and cheat! 🙌🏽We had great time. Of course, it was early in the day. Not crowded at all. The only thing is the balls need to be better. Lots of chips.
Very good birthday party here. It is a little bit on the pricey side when it comes to bowling but it’s a good experience. The fries and tenders were fire , nachos were kinda wack tho
I would not come here after 9:30. You should also consider this an East German bowling alley. Everything I do here requires me to fork out my identification papers as if I’m a teenager. They need to change their hours of operation to 10pm every night and 9pm on Sunday. They don’t let people play after 10. I would be okay if on their website if they indicated that they don’t let bowlers after 10 but they don’t. Spend your money else where.
We love to bowl here. Mature crowd, great wings, and bowling. Great combo. Bathrooms are clean but need a paint job.
Solid bowling. Nothing fancy, the beer was good. Monday night trivia was cool… except the Nickelodeon category was too early 90’s and not enough mid 90’s - minus one star.
We will never go there again and it’s been our bowling date spot for over 4 years. Here’s the story… The woman working at the counter when we checked in was very rude and not helpful. No greeting at all. We asked for a lane and she just goes, "No". We are looking at her like ok... Can you offer is to go on a wait list? She never does, so we ask to be put on a wait list. She says, " No". My fiancee and I look at each other, both thinking whats going on here? There are a ton of lanes open. The lady at the counter finally says, "come back at 7 and we can get you a lane then". ( Thats three hours from now). WTH just happened. Such a weird and odd experience that I hope to never have again.
Comet is great except Derrick the manager. He typically works at the bar and is incredibly rude. He seems to have an issue with women. We have been to Comet many times and each time he is rude, aggressive, and short-tempered with the women in our group but perfectly nice and pleasant to the men. He completely ruins the experience.
I can’t believe how rude the “most senior manager” Derrick (Derek?is to women. It’s blatant discrimination. Our family would enjoy the experience if it weren’t for him. We’ve been multiple times and he continues to treat ALL the women in our group with hostility and disrespect. Many women have complained and he is allowed to continue and be horrific. I hope the owner will make a change so women can attend this establishment and be treated as equal citizens.
Service from the very beginning was HORRIBLE ! And not to make it about race, but it was definitely all african american staff members that were very rude ! Even paying for my shoes, whatever lady at the front had a very poor attitude and spoke rudely.. We had two lanes and one ended before the other which meant we had to move over to one side. Once we were told by one rude lady to move over another felt the need to come RUDELY tell us that we needed to move so she could “ clean the area up “ as if we didn’t have another lane to keep playing (the other side was clear at that point, all of our belongings were on one side and someone already came to wipe down that side of the table). Overall, the place is decent and food was good (minus all the arcade games being out of orderbut customer service goes a long way and this place won’t make it far with that kind of people.
This is the worst bowling alley Ive ever been to. They stop serving food at 9:30 , and they had no music. The atmosphere was dead, and lanes were constantly having issues. Waste of time. I was so bored and couldnt wait to leave. Go to stars and strikes, Andretti s anywhere else. I was excited to bowl, but this sucked. The pizza was a greasy oily mess, that wouldve made Gordon Ramsey have an aneurysm.
If I could leave zero stars I would. I used to love this place, but the front desk staff is extremely rude. The young lady at the desk and the young man who said he was the manager were so nasty to us for simply asking the return policy because we realized $50 for 1 hour of bowling was outrageous (we never bowled btw His response was “there just isn’t refunds” and proceeded to cut me off mid sentence and help another customer. I suggest visiting a more customer friendly bowling alley.
I’ve been here multiple times and each experience gets worst. This will be my last time going to this establishment. The front desk works are terrible. The bartenders are always solid. How hard is it to work a front desk bowling alley job ? They made my experience terrible to which I paid and just left. I couldn’t even get assistance to start the game because we didn’t have the right amount of pins. If I could leave zero starts I would. This is a real and honest review. By the way they definitely need some cleaning and renovation. Not having a clean environment with a pandemic screams hazard.
My family really enjoys bowling here. The facility is up to date, but still feels like a bowling alley if that makes sense. The food there is pretty good for a bowling alley. The beer options are good as well.
This place used to be fun. The front desk staff has started to become a problem. They are rude and the owner does not care. The bartenders are the only good thing about this place now. The lanes malfunction the whole time and could use some updating. Hope the owner reads the reviews to make customers happy.
Food was good but they couldnt get order right. Had to talk to them 4 times and show receipt to get correct food. They told one patron dont even bother ordering food cause they wouldnt get it. Smh!Also they indicated that lane would be ready in 1 hour and it took almost two hours. They had lanes available but didnt make them ready until the 3rd time at counter. Oh and it was a Tuesday night so Id would hate to think how it is actually busy.
I like the Tuesday night deal they have here. Ive only eaten the wings from the kitchen, and they are decent. Our last trip was disappointing, was on two different lanes that kept glitching with the ball return AND score keeping. One staff member attended to us and was helpful for a while, then gave up to help out in the kitchen. I informed the front desk staff, who were apologetic but didnt offer a refund of any kind. We were there for my daughters birthday and reserved the lane in advance. Id give it 2.5 stars.......take it as you will.
Reasonably priced bowling alley with a modern/retro feel (minus the cigarette smokethat has great food! Very polite and helpful staff. Seriously the food is top notch. Fresh cooked in house and good drinks too!
Ill start by saying our group enjoyed our time here. We shot pool and bowled for a couple of hours. We were there from 10 to 12 pm and their rules are no one under 21 after 10. The lane next to ours had children while we were forced to make other arrangements for ours. The food was hit or miss, we had chicken wings, nachos, and tenders. The tenders were overcooked and appeared to be fried in old grease, they looked so bad you wouldnt have wanted to even try one. The nachos were really good and the wings were just ok. I liked the bowling lanes overall but its time to upgrade the bowling balls, they have all kinds of cuts and gashes. The staff was friendly and helpful and they were staffed right for the crowd we had. Food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. I would visit again but there is room for improvements.
Feels like youre going down into an alley to go bowling.Clean, nice atmosphere relaxing. TV to keep up with your sporting events. Full bar. Casual menu. Chicken tenders and fries is what I had. Tasty. Staff was attentive and nice. Will be going back as my family enjoyed it.
Pretty good neighborhood bowling alley. Carries the usual pizza, hotdogs, fries, nachos kind of a menu. Good variety of beer. Birthday party organizations can be planned & reserved from the website.
Service was lacking today.Stopped by for a beer and a pizza. Never got my pizza!Sat down at the bar with my kindle and ordered a beer and wanted a minute to look at the menu. Bartender asked if i wanted to start a tab and told him no cuz I’m only using cash.He had me pay for my beer upfront and nobody behind the bar ever reproached me for a food order. I even pulled the menu out a few times for show. After an hour of reading at the bar and holding an empty beer I left a tip and walked out.Very disappointing service
we had a great experience here! and omg how amazing it looks! the guy behind the bar is awesome, totally took care of us. i legit think this is the best looking alley ive seen. also, lane conditions were lovely and you can tell they care about maintaining them. we came back the next day on our way out of town as we enjoyed it so much!
Perfect indoor activity for the kiddos, date night, birthday! The entire facility is always super clean, the shoes are in great shape, food is surprisingly good with some health conscious options, even. Oh, and the beyond decent beer selection is the cherry on top!
Found this old school but upgraded technology bowling alley, there are enough balls and sizes the shoes are new and stylish, Adam & Lebron kind and courteous at the front desk. Had that New York welcome even though one of them is from Connecticut still doesn’t count lol. The lanes worked amazing, they also have a bar with a variety of different kinds of brews on tap and a good selection of Food. Def will Have to come back to this play...
This historic place has been a fun place to go to since I was a kid. With a few rules put in place for minors, after a certain time the adults can enjoy bowling, the kitchen, and the bar.
Great place go to twains in decatur if youre kid less and done with bowling. Owned by the same people evidently. Good food too for a freaking bowling alley. Good beer selection and great service.
