The Beaumont, 8 Balderton St, Brown Hart Gardens, Mayfair, London W1K 6TF, Mpwapwa
Elegant, wood-panelled room, with a gentlemen's-club vibe, serving old-world American grill fare.
Great place. Fantastic staff. Excellent wine choice and food impeccable.
My partner surprised me with a dinner at The Beaumont for my birthday and it was absolutely perfect. Everything from the food, to the wine selection and service was outstanding. The staff was really welcoming and friendly, and they’ve turned the dinner into a truly amazing experience. Not to mention the live piano that was a lovely touch.
Languid Art Deco dining room. A brunch menu with something for everyone. Food excellent. Freshly squeezed orange juice reminded me of a Greek island. Latte on point. Bottom line there’s only so much you can do with an eggs Benedict or a full English. But what separates this establishment from other well heeled diners was the service. It was impeccable. We were made to feel special. And our little one even got a Beaumont bear. Those are the small details that will make us come back. We dined at 10.15am on 22nd October. The maitre D and the lady in charge of waiters working the floor were just sublime!!
Quality food, excellent service, calm, pleasant venue.
Welcoming staff. Roberto and team were very friendly, professional and attentive. Very impressed with their Sunday roast, massively exceeded my expectations! Definitely going back!
The food was great with a nice ambience. We ordered the Steak Tartare, Chicken and Prawn Cocktail for starters. For mains we shared the tomahawk steak and another 400g ribeye - they were both phenomenal. Their mixologist had all the drinks on point. Will definitely be back for more when I am in London next!
Good atmosphere friendly service and very reasonable for this part of London.. Menu changes regularly so cant suggest what to try... But if you get the cannelloni thats worth a try...
Sheer luxury right close to Selfridges. It was simply amazing.
Exceptional food and even better service - always a treat !
Beautiful Art Deco styled restaurant, with perfect service and delicious food. It was a birthday celebration which was well recognised by the team. One of our favourite restaurant experiences, will be back!
Had a meeting with my old friends here. Very delicious and fine food. Have been served by Roberto, Antonio (the sommelierand Ahmed, all three very nice and professional gentlemen. My greatings to the Chef
Wow!!! Excellent restaurant with delicious food. I recommend especially the pea soup.
The service here is always fantastic but since they have reopened after renovation there is a real lack of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu
Set in a lovely boutique 5-stat hotel, the Colony grill offers a varied selection of great food, wine and dessert. The service was exceptional and the decor is the ideal balance of quirky and elegant. Great for a family meal or date if you want somewhere different.
Lovely art deco restaurant with great selection of food and impressive taste. Arianna and Lionel were true stars and really made our evening. Highly recommended.
Excellent service and delicious food at the Colony Grill, Beaumont Hotel, London. My daughter loved it. Wonderful atmosphere.
Absolutely the best service and best food we have had after seven days in Paris and England. It is worth the price.
Absolutely fantastic. Great food, great servive. Beautiful setting.
Good service good food. Nice environment.
Was taken here by a friend recently, but its a bit expensive for my tastes and it was very difficult to get served if you could only get a seat near reception. Service is very good and helpful when it comes though and there is a good range of cocktails as long as your happy to pay £19, which my friend tells is good value in a London hotel like this, personally Id have preferred a pint of Tring beer, but it or anything similar wasnt on offer.
Recently visited with my wife for a casual Sunday lunch. The atmosphere, food, service and experience was second to none. Would highly recommend!
My girlfriend took me here for my birthday. The food was amazing but the best bit was being served by head waiter Ed.He has an old school charm that cant be rivalled.Knows his job inside out .Michael and Deirdre
Great atmosphere and lovely menu. Attentive service and honest prices. A real good spot in Mayfair where you can have a great conversation without having to shout. Well done!
Went to the Colony Grill having asked for recommendations for the best steak in London. Certainly wasnt disappointed. The service was faultless, as were the cocktails. Will definitely be back!
Warm welcome the moment I arrived and super friendly an professional service throughout visit. Creative and delicious menu. Inspiring decor and good lighting in dining room.
It is always a real treat to eat at this comfortable Art Déco family yet chic hotel restaurant. The food and service are always great. I personally love to have kedgeree for breakfast. See on the picture how amazing is the one they serve. The atmosphere is much quieter than in the evening. It gets more rowdy then with the very popular bar next door. It really feels like being in a club especially on a Friday evening!
Well. if u want to be in a very high sophisticated place with the most warm, hide away, luxurious. relaxed athmosphere. here u are. so attentive not arrogant lovely staff. wonderful menu. The food is sooooo amazing. a big selection of wine. u can study the menu forever. and such a fantastic place. the bar even. everythingzhad a great time! thank u
Great London venue. Not cheap but well worth it for service, ambience and food. A fantastic experience.
Terrific experience at the Colony Grill. What a stunning hotel and restaurant. Love the Art Deco style, and is what drew us in. Had the most outstanding service I’ve ever had in London. The food was excellent. Everything was top quality. Even the lettuce on the caeser. Fiancé has the rib eye which was delicious and cooked just perfectly. I had the buttermilk fried chicken, and whilst it was a bit too herby for me- it was still delicious. The chicken and the batter, really good quality.
The Colony Grill is a super classy and old school restaurant with an excellent bar serving traditional cocktails prepared by well trained cocktail makers. I was particularly impressed by the Sazerac and the Louisiana. The restaurant is an old world 1930s ambience with leather upholstered semi circular booths. The menu is simple and as I have now eaten here 5 times in last 12 months I can say its simple menu prepared deliciously by the kitchen team. Service is very good and the staff make you feel very welcome. No request is too much. I recommend drinks at the Bar in the evenings even if you have other dinner plans. Its very buzzy. There is a pianist from 7pm! All in all one of the best dinning experiences in Mayfair
Disappointing visit last weekend unfortunately. Usually a high standard restaurant that we have dined at a few times, and it was one of our favourite London restaurants. However last weekend, the service ruined the meal, and its just not acceptable, especially from such a high end place. We went to a chain restaurant for lunch the day after and received excellent 5* service there, but this could not be done in the Colony Grill sadly. Common restaurant etiquette was lost on our visit, our water was never refilled, but we watched other tables recieve this service, we werent asked if we wanted more drinks, we werent asked how the food was during or after the meal, and the burger my partner had was a bit dry, but we were given no opportunity to tell anyone this. It was really frustrating and the waitress was just so miserable to be honest, not the usual standard of this place at all. When I asked to have the service removed from the bill, as there wasnt any service given, nobody even came over at this point to ask if there was a reason for this or to see if everything was ok, as they usually do in restaurants, they really just were not bothered. A really big let down, and it could have been so easily great to be honest, a shame. 2 stars for the steak and the excellent maitre d as ever.
Im a huge fan of the Colony Grill room, but Im a huge fan of Corbin and King restaurants generally so its no surprise. As with all their restaurants service at the Colony is impeccable. The restaurant is inside the The Beaumont Hotel. The Beaumont Hotel is an Art Deco garage that has been beautifully converted into a hotel. The restaurant is accessed through the bar which is a lovely place for a drink. As you may have anticipated, the bar and room are heavily Art Deco influenced, but theyre not kitsch. Think exclusive New York club atmosphere, wood panelled, understated but oozing confidence and money. Ive never been to a New York private club, but I have been to the Ralph Lauren shop on Bond Street which pulls off the same thing - Polo club chic.Enough about the room onto the food. The food is not experimental, not cutting edge. Its clubland favourites (theres a theme hereCeasar salad, pate, steak tartare (prepared before your eyes with more theatre than Shaftesbury Avenuefollowed by huge steaks on the bone, right the way to burgers. The clientele are well heeled tourists, and well heeled locals looking for comfort and solace. They both find both in the Colony Grill Room, just 50 metres from the shopping hell of Oxford Street.
Exceptional service and dining service. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch meal at the Colony. Service was friendly, attentive but not intrusive. The decor was art deco, comfortable and quiet. The quality of the ingredients was high. Im normally not a huge fan of duck but Ive heard it was good hear and Im glad to say I wasnt disappointed. Would definitely come back.
Usually love this place, although last night the food was a little uncharacteristically disappointing. In general, the decor is classy and cosy, the service is of a very high standard, and the food is great too. The DIY ice cream sundaes make it worth a visit almost alone. Not the cheapest of places, but its the bar restaurant of a Mayfair hotel, so not surprising.Well recommended.Update: since leaving this review, management contacted me, and made every attempt to understand and offer solutions. Service really is of the greatest standard, and will keep me going back.
We had an excellent time at The Colony Grill! The staff was so friendly and helpful, including greeting us out front and delivering us to our cab afterwards. Our meals (lentil ragout and calf liver with sweet potato frieswere both very very good. The whisky sour was one of the best weve had. But the dessert...the dessert was the highlight of the meal! We had the Knickerbocker Glory and glorious it was!! We left full and very satisfied, but only after our waiter came running after us to return my husbands jacket 😅 Wish we had a place like this back home (but then wed just be really fat!).
Great food and top service, 100% recommended to spoil someone!
I had never felt as embarrassed as I was made to feel on Friday, we walked to The Beaumont from The Mayfair where we staying for the lovely ambience which I had read about and the meal which was also quite nice. We had a salad, steak, sweet potatoe fries and stewed corn which was beautifully done. The bar was recently renovated and has a lovely relaxed feel to it. We were given a talk about the old and the new from the Maitred which was also nice.My partner asked for a business card as he intended to return with some business partners, this will not be the case.As we walked out, the Maitred runs after us and accused us of leaving without paying the bill. Im not one to use the race card and have never experienced this, but my partner pointed out that the same treatment would not have been given to a caucasian couple without confirming from the waiter who served us.Never, have I been so embarrassed and Im still reeling from it 3 days on.We will not be returning to The Colony, the meal was good but I have had better in London with better service and treated with respect. This is has been quite an embarrassing ordeal, hence the review
Average steak (we had the flat iron steak), poor prawn cocktail (it isn’t a cocktail in spite of the name). Friendly staff but we had to order our food twice to two different waitresses.
Holy sh*t the steak was £50 (14oz rib eyebut it was the best steak Ive ever had in my life.Great location as well and the decor is wonderful. The staff are all friendly and it doesnt feel stuffy and stiff like some places around here can.
I really enjoy visiting the colony grill. The menu is American/comfort/bistro food and the cottage pie a favourite. The restaurant is beautifully designed, as is the adjoining bar. Staff are very attentive and cocktails excellent. If you can manage it - steak tartar - cottage pie - knickerbocker glory are all amazing.Love going here. A real favourite!
The restaurant was quiet and softly lit, which would perfect for a date. The service impeccable and I had what was possibly the best steak tartare of my life, which was prepared right in front of me. To follow I had a juicy and tender veal chop with some delicious carrots as a side, and of course crème brûlée as dessert. It is not cheap, but for the quality you are getting, I would say it is reasonably priced. Also do not be discouraged by the posh setting, the staff are nice and will never make you feel out of place.
Their ice cream sundaes are legendary and possibly one of a kind in this part of London. Extremely helpful staff and always willing to make special requests possible. Very nice venue all in all
Went for my husbands birthday. The positives: venue is beautiful and real old world charm, steaks were nice quality and cooked right, cocktails were good. Negatives: the worst pastrami sandwich ever- 2 thin slices of meat, too much cheese that wasnt Swiss, no thousand island dressing and no Jewish rye bread. Could have gone to M&S for a better one and at nearly £20 I felt completely ripped off! This place has clearly never been to a real grill room in the US and tasted all the staples they have simply made them up. The steaks were served on cold plates so they got cold very fast. The ceasar salad was bland and hardly any anchovy flavour. The head waitress was in such a mood and rude to us when it was my husbands birthday. And the wine & water were only topped up once by the waiters. I can see this place is going down hill as it was not full and bad service and even worse food. Would definitely never go there again I feel cheated for the price we paid.
This is not a cheap restaurant so the rating reflects against expected high standards. The service is good but could me more attentive. There were a few times we wanted service and could not attract attention. We were three people and they placed us in a booth. These are only comfortable for 2 people in my opinion and a bit of a squeeze for 3. One of the open tables would have been appropriate. The restaurant was busy and the acoustics meant that it was difficult to hear others at the table without raising voices. A catch 22 situation as everybody else had similar issues. My son loves it here and his swordfish was perfect and he loved it.My wife had the trout and she said it was a fine cooked piece of fish and she enjoyed it.But this is my review and my food was not great.I always choose badly and after disappoinment in the past ( deep fried chicken that had chillie in the batter; steak tartare that again was too spicy; prawns with - you guessed chillie again etx etc)This time I played safe and went for the new York hotdog. Over caramelized onions, sauerkraut and a fairly restless jot dog made for an undesirable experience. My son loves it here so we will be back.Maybe Ill try the steak next time!!!
What a welcome we received !!! Queen B is a superstar hostess! They made our breakfast very special...
One of my favourite breakfast spots in London. The food is amazing and set in a nice peaceful 1930s dinner. Perfect for a quiet business meeting over breakfast or a little oasis of peace before you hit the ground running.
One of the best Shepard pies Ive ever tried. PLUS they have a menu just to make your own sundae. American style dinning done to perfection. One of my favourite pig out places.
Awesome restaurant, nailed the desserts.I came here to celebrate my girlfriends promotion. Literally on a whim as I saw it in an email and thought it looked cool. I was slightly wary initially that it was just another hotel restaurant, I was glad to find that it isnt. The staff were really friendly, happy to explain the menu and werent in any way obnoxious (which I do find in some swankier establishments...). The food was also awesome, and old worldy / nostalgic. How often do you see gammon and pineapple on a menu!?The food was excellent. The mock turtle soup was delicious (and I managed to not get any on my white shirt which I think I might put on my CV...). My girlfriend was elated to see she could have mac and cheese for a starter! The mains were also excellent. The fried chicken was delicious (and hugeand my lamb was perfect. I cant cook lamb to save my life so this was a treat. The ultimate win however was the dessert. The list looked good, so we were excited. I was veering towards a knickerbocker glory. Until they brought out a pad and pencil to CREATE YOUR OWN SUNDAE! SWEET JESUS! I dont think Ive ever been so happy. You get to choose different flavours of ice-cream, toppings and sauce, all for a very reasonable £8.50 or so. Honestly. It was amazing.I would definitely recommend this place if youre after a decent meal / celebrating. Its not cheap though. Once drinks and service etc was in I was touching £200 for the two of us.
Very quiet and cozy grill restaurant in one of the most central spots in London. Menu nice, offer various and prices in line with the style of the Beaumont. Recommended if you are looking for a good place where to eat well and calmly.
Really nice place to go for a brunch. They have a really nice classic all day menu with traditional favourites. Great eggs Royale and some beautiful ice creams. Atmosphere is like stepping back in time - in a good way!
