I booked dinner here. Unfortunately me and my partner had bad service here, we sat down very fast and we had no clue about the menu. Once our cocktails came, we had to wait a long time to get anyone to come get an order for food. We had to ask staff for more drinks and the food was served really separate and we didn’t know how much to order. I’ve worked in high standard and busy environments, so I do get that it’s hard work, but it just did feel that the standard I had hoped for was held. I would like management to hear this complaint and not the general staff. Thank you x

I’ve had good food many times, but it’s not often I can say I made an audible ‘mmmm’ sound after a mouthful. Food at coconut tree was amazing! Couldn’t get enough of it. Staff were super friendly too! I will most definitely be coming back. Thank you

Wow! What a find. Daughter took me there. Never been before and I was not disappointed.Lunch time so not a huge vibe but what it lacked in atmosphere it made up for in decor and the big big flavours of the food. The kotthu was wonderful the blackened pork was sublime

Have been to the one on park Street and had zero issues. Been to this one twice. First time the restaurant was pretty much empty so we had no issues and would be questionable if we did. This leads me to my second visit.....A group of us ate here. We were told our table needed to be back by 9pm. However, youd think with that the service would be good and fast. We were all seated by 7.15pm. we werent ever asked if wed like more drinks or if our food was okay, after working in hospitality this is just standard?! A couple of dishes got bought out after wed pretty much finished. I get they come out as and when but when one lot of chickpeas was bought out at the beginning and the second lot not till the end is a bit weird. as we were all chatting we didnt really keep an eye on the time but by the time we came to desserts it was 8.50pm. we asked if we could have desserts we were told yes. We waited for 15 minutes and the waitress didnt come back. Then we flagged down who I suspect was the manager?! We asked him if we could order our desserts and to our sheer shock he said "no" we were a bit taken aback, thinking he was joking we asked again. He then again repeated no and said "we need the table back weve got another booking" we said well we asked over 15 mins ago so. Then he begrudgingly took our order but told us to be quick which was just the icing on the cake! We obviously then refused to pay the service charge. Which we were surprisingly questioned about. After the manager had asked why and then we explained, he took it off. The waitress then came with the card machine so we could pay the remaining balance and thrust it in our face then walked off after it was paid. How she acted was so unprofessional. Id understand if we treated the staff bad or were rude but we werent. So because of the reactions and actions we shall not be returning and Ill be telling other people not to bother either if they want a frosty service if they so much as question something. Oh and my friend looked as we walked out. There wasnt a booking at 9pm and this was made apparent because no group walked in between 9 and 9.30 and even when we were stood outside talking for 15 mins no one still turned up. So all of that could of been avoided, not sure why the managed needed to lie?!Edit: have replied to the response from owner and am yet to receive a reply!

Not very good food at all. Very bland. "Food for a wetern palate" if you know what I mean. If you like Indian food, dont go. If youre the type of person that goes to Lanzarote on holiday and then finds an English run fish and chip shop, this place is for you.

The staff were amazing and helpful. There was a varied menu option, so we ordered a mixture of meat and veg dishes to share and we really enjoyed it. The food came really quick and was so tasty. The curry mutton was slightly to hot for me but my husband enjoyed it. I had the Salmon which was plenty. We also had side dishes including roti, which left us full and satisfied. We would definitely visit again. 🍗🍚🍲

Absolutely impressed with how the staff handled my 4 food allergies… (including coconut). I was sent a menu with the ingredients of everything on the menu, and was told what could be changed to accommodate me. The food was delicious, and excellent value for money. Thank you TCT Team 🥰

Hands down our favourite restaurant in Bristol. Food is delicious, the staff are lovely, great vibe and the 50% off Monday to Wednesday makes it such an obvious choice for a mid-week meal.

We had a beautiful meal here, and enjoyed the new-to-us flavours of the Sri Lankan street food. Excellent cocotails - good beer - superb hoppers - all the dishes were taste-bud popping and wonderfully balanced. Oh and friendly, super quick staff and busy, fun atmosphere.

Its very expensive for what it is. The cocktails have great presentation but they taste incredibly ordinary. The food is certainly nothing special and not even memorable. The service however is really good. Its a shame the food though is so uninspiring and lacklustre

3 stars is being kind…Positive: three good dishes, generally well spiced food, cocktails were drinkable and two nice waiters.Negatives: five averagely executed dishes (dry, overcooked), one rude waitress (clearly not Sri Lankanand our order was messed up (stuff arrived after all of the food had been eaten and some stuff didn’t turn up at all).I like their story, so hope this was just an off day.

The food was quite bland and disappointing. The hoppers were soggy and the egg undercooked. Most dishes tasted like they had been sat in a bain marie and not freshly cooked. It came out very quick. All in all a bit underwhelming. Perhaps adjusting for western tastes has taken the Sri Lankan magic out of it.

What an experience, the food was amazing and the choice is brilliant. We choose to go for a mix of dishes inspired by our waitress, taking some of the TCT favs and some of our personal choices. The portions are not massive, more along tapas size. We had 12 different dishes between 4 people, which was about right.I our view it is a must do again venue, and great value for money.

It’s not often that things surprise me, but after going here last night all I can say is you’d be cocoNUTS not to try it!! It’s Sri Lankan cuisine & the aim of The CT is to “deliver the best Sri Lankan street food, sweet & fiery Cocotails served with warm hospitality” & my god, have they NAILED IT.The atmosphere of the GR restaurant is relaxed, happy, joyful & somehow also electric .. full of life that it instantly puts a smile on your face. The decor is stripped back street food style & reminded me of being in a beach shack with a really down to earth vibe. I loved that nothing was fussy or fancy .. just simple, functional & perfectly matched to the cuisine. Whilst the decor might be stripped back NOTHING else was! The staff were wonderful, especially T who from the moment I called earlier in the day went way above, ABOVE & BEYOND he also went BELOW & SIDE to SIDE to accommodate our dietary & disability needs. He was without a doubt a SHINING STAR 🌟 & hands down it was the most phenomenal customer service I’ve ever experienced. Despite the food being magnificent, T made our night! His warmth, joy, passion, caring & attention to detail was like a ray of sunshine ☀️ he deserves so much more than just my praise. The food was exquisite .. each dish had its own unique flavour & we enjoyed everything, especially the SRI-TATO, VEGGIE & CHEESE KOTTHU, TUNA CUTLETS & PARIPPU DAHL. We also had the POLENTA MUSHROOMS & these were good but slightly sweet for me. Whatever was on the potato’s was some of the nicest, most beautiful spicing I’ve ever experienced & had me tipping the residue all over my rice.I can’t praise this place enough, they are exactly what they aim to be & so so much more. We left full of not only excellent Sri Lankan food but with a little bit of Sri Lankan sunshine in our souls. The only other thing I can say is “I PITY THE FOOL” who doesn’t get to meet Mr T .. his Sri LanCAN attitude is a rarity & he’s the jewel in the crown.

The staff was really helpful nice.Very busy good vibes we came on Saturday and they was rushed off their feet. So book table in advanceLike really hot spicy, this is the place to go . Food was nice but too spicy for us. Brought tears to the eyesI was told it depends on day how spicy the food will be, so you do get home recipes the real authentic recipes that have been in families . I ordered goat curry as thought be medium. Nope, sadly, I couldnt eat it .I hate to know how hot the other dish will be with warning. Another was that the dishes didnt come out together, so that kind ruined it too.Cocktails was a winner had a lovely nice effect with the fire .. And was delish.I wont come here again due to the fact that it was too spicy. This depends on your taste buds and how hot you like it

I thought the food was great until I contracted food poisoning hours later. Not worth the experience. Hate to say it too because the service was actually good.Unfortunately, I have been out sick for 3 full days now. My stomach is boiling and I cannot leave my bed. I have been going to the bathroom every 30 minutes.I can’t say I recommend going to this place. My friends have also been out sick for a few days after eating here :/

I love the food here! Their promotion is still going - they’ve got 50% off the food menu Mondays-Wednesdays till January. (UPDATED: til next year!!I particularly enjoyed their curries, the veggie kotthu and the spicy cuttlefish! Lots of vegetarian/vegan options and great cocktails also. Highly recommended!! I discovered this restaurant while I was in Cardiff and was very happy to find out that there are two Bristol branches!

Collected a takeaway Saturday evening. Have previously really enjoyed eating food from the Coconut Tree. Much of the order was delicious, as usual, but the chicken on the bone curry was very, very hot.. to the point of almost spoiling the taste of other dishes.I know Sri Lankan food can be fiery and my family are all big fans of hot food but it really didnt do the rest of the meal we shared much favour. Also, the mango curry wasnt on the menu this time around. Bring it back asap!!

Food was very slow coming out (an hour?and overly oily with simple, underwhelming flavors. Dishes were also too similar to one another - there are only really 1-2 vegetable dishes that aren’t curry or fried.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Terrible stodgy food described as a delicious large plate which would be super filling... It was, in fact, a mere childs portion and I dont even have a big appetite. They were overstaffed but somehow forgot our drinks multiple times as we slumped at the table waiting patiently for over an hour for our stodge food to arrive with no warning of the long wait. The vacant eyed staff members eventually bought our food over which was cold and all the portions (of the same dishwere varying sizes. The whole experience was dissapointing, we wont be returning or recommending this place to anyone, even our worst enemies, of which we have many.

Pretty great all round! We visited on a mid-week evening, and surprisingly the restaurant was pretty busy. Nevertheless we were so well looked after by our server, and really enjoyed our evening. The food we had was all yummy and brought out quickly. The goat recipe had changed since we last visited the Clifton branch which was the only downside, as I liked it better before, but all the other dishes were near perfect. We also had a few mocktails, which were flavourful and well made.Cant fault the customer service, and would go back :)

If you have never experience Sri Lankan cuisine, the Coconut Tree is perfect!!Served in the style of tapas (which is perfect if you like to share), its fantastic for getting stuck in and trying as many dishes you like the sound of... and there will be a lot you like the sound of.Loved the decor, incredibly morish cocktails, and really do make sure you order the egg hopper; plus a spare.

Our waitress was lovely but the service was slow and as a Sri Lankan I can confirm the food was not up to standard as the food was bland. The kothu was definitely off but some of the other dishes werent as bad like the cuttlefish. Would not got there again (after having been both to the Bristol and Cardiff branch). On a positive note, the drinks were really good here!

This Siri Lanka restaurant does not disappoint! Located at the city centre, this place provides a wide range of selections. I especially love the fact that most of the items on the menu are small dishes, which means they are perfect for sharing. The staff was really nice and she recommended us several dishes to try out. They recommend us to have around 3-4 dishes per person. The food was very good, it was not too spicy in my opinion and the ingredients are very fresh. I especially love the hoppers egg as it is really an innovative dish and the flavours are all there. Reservations is a must as it is tremendously difficult to walk-in. The atmosphere there is really fantastic with a dim lighting. I find this a really enjoyable place to eat and I’ll definitely come again.

We absolutely loved coming here for my brothers’ 21st. You are recommended to have 3 dishes each and then share a rice and rotti, and that was perfect. We recommend the cheesy Colombo, the hot battered spicy cuttlefish, black pork, and the clay pot fish. The prices are so good for what you get, and there are options for gluten free and vegan/veggie.Perfect night out and a great atmosphere. Will definitely come again.
