Village inn dating back to 17th century with function room and restaurant with pie/sausage-led menu.
A lunch with friends. My wife had an excellent bubble and squeak. I had beef stew topped with cheesey mashed spuds and glazed carrots. Full of flavours.
Very good location , friendly people , service was a bit slow … perhaps our fault we ordered with a starter … half chicken roast was very good .. the chicken strips , fish and chips and burger were over cooked and under whelming … perhaps something to improve … I love visiting such locations .. always wish them to be better !!
This is a superb place to eat with plenty of outdoor seating. The staff are attentive and the food is excellent. The vegetarian and vegan options are great as well. This is a lovely place for weary walkers where we are welcome. I hope to return.
Been here a few times in the last yrar sometimes to eat and sometimes for a beer whilst on a walk always enjoy it
Lovely pub stop for a nice Sunday walk of Sunday cycle
Country pub with a large beer garden with decent food and drink..
Loved this wonderfully delcious find.
Tasty food. Excellent bar staff and service.
Great food. We had 2 courses and it was all good. No-one came to take our plates away until we went up to order desserts.
Not serving food to walk ins on a Saturday, apparently due to the fact that they had a function in the garden (although it was hardly busy). Staff seemed confused and not particularly friendly - seemed to lack management. Interior old fashioned (not in a good way). Garden pleasant enough. We didn’t stay and won’t be back.
Lovely pub with a huge garden. Great selection of drinks, good food, and friendly staff.
I had a lovely gin and tonic while watching the sun set.
Lovely country pub, perfect stop after a long walk through the country side, friendly staff and lovely grounds
Cannot rate them highly enough. We hired the barn for our mums 60th birthday (a 1920s themed murder mysteryfrom start to finish they were absolutely amazing. They helped create a themed menu and were there at every step to ensure the night run smoothly. Food was delicious and excellent value. Will definitely be booking further functions. My only complaint is that they were already booked for a date we wanted in August for my brothers 30th 🤣
With a large group that meant ordering and service was slow. Food OK when it finally arrived.Sat indoors but there is also good outdoor seating available
Excellent lunch in their lovely garden. Great pub for walkers and dogs.
Lovely old pub with beamed ceilings and a wonderful garden. Draft Badger ales on tap which is a bonus! Had a light lunch, went for the fish finger sandwich which was made with real pieces of cod fillet in ligt batter - excellent. The service was faultless, too.
brilliant location decor and spacious beer garden 1 star subtraction for the our roast salmon with young potatoes containing 3 tiny miniscule halves of said potatoes. Other than that great food if your not hungry that is :)
We stopped in for a drink on Easter Sunday after a walk in the area. They were not taking any more food order even though there were tables available. We sat outside and the outdoor area is nice, range of beer was ok - not great.
Great location and garden, terrible food. There is a large garden and plenty of parking so its great for the summer for a drink. The food took an hour to arrive, the menu was smaller than usual "because of easter weekend" even though the pub was busy and when the food did arrive it was disappointing.
Brilliant! Lovely lunch outside in the gorgeous beer garden. The pint of Badger was a delight and the food was fantastic. Really varied menu. Also a play area for kids so well be back as a family. Service was friendly and fast. Nothing negative to say at all.
Really nice pub, welcoming of our party of four and two dogs. Food was really tasty and huge portions! Well definitely be back!
Great place, massive garden, loads of tables, friendly staff and good nosh! Recommended
Ancient interior. Lots of dark wooden beams and walls decorated with memorabilia made this a truly wonderful country pub in a delightful village not far from London. Excellent beer.... And I wouldnt be surprised if there was a ghost or two lurking around. Nice garden. We sat outside on a lovely spring afternoon.
A good pub, great home cooked food, dog friendly and lots of walks opposite and behind 😀
Lovely quaint pub. Loads of outdoor seating. Good menu. Friendly staff.
We just stopped by for a drink in the garden. All very pleasant. Good service and clean well equipped toilets.

Well dun to shiff it lovely hot good service nice clean and tied well kept pub been there a lot over year thank you for nice meal one week on Wednesday. Thank you age
Went to this nice little pub to look at their dining/function room which is available for hire. We were interested in hiring it for our wedding reception. Spoke to a helpful guy behind the bar and he took our details to pass to the owner/manager. Had a call from that same helpful barman that evening to say that he had passed the details to the manager/owner and was told the manager/owner would contact us the following week to discuss our requirements etc. Over 1 month later and we have never heard a thing from them. Disappointing not to get the follow up, but we have now booked somewhere else. Edited - we had no missed calls or voicemails on the dates you say. The only call we had was from the barman to say he had passed on the message. Thanks for the call today however no value in discussing. Weve now booked another venue.
Went their last Sunday, what a amazing place, great staff, they all go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be. They certainly did deliver. Will be coming back in the future
Fantastic Sunday roast, super friendly & efficient staff. Speedy reply to my online enquirey & they accommodated our last minute request to eat in the dining room rather than the teepee. Highly recommend.
Instantly fell in love with this place- its everything you could want from a country pub-and more. Friendly service, good food and a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Looking forward to visiting again!
Christmas dinner with our camera club. Great choice of food, not just the traditional choices and something for everyone (even the GF). Food was hot and tasty across all the choices and good sized portions as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only downer was the early closing time.
Beautiful classic pub! Best pie Ive ever had. And the crumble was delicious too! Thanks for having us
Very lovely and friendly staff and delicious food!
My favourite traditional pub. Great location. Good food and drink. Very friendly. Dogs very welcome and owners allowed in too if they behave !
I had lunch here recently with my nephew and we were delighted to see how very busy the pub was with diners enjoying their lunches in a convivial atmosphere! The licencees wife came over for a chat and told us they were hosting several events in November! Quiz night,Sarratt fireworks with hog roast and bbq,and a George Michael theme evening! Our lunches were superb! Cooked from scratch by very experienced chefs,Hilary and Jonnie! If you like home cooked food in a lovel old pub this is the place for you! You won’t be disappointed,I can assure you! Can’t wait to return!
Cosy Country pub opposite a beautiful old church. Has a huge garden, decent selection of beers and a resonably pried, if not extensive menu. There is a full blown restaurant are in the Old Barn. To me it, the restaurant, looked a little cold and souless, maybe due to the fact it was empty.A word of warning. If you are comeung from the Barn nto the main bar area, the ceiling is very low - mind your head, i diddnt - OUCH
Roast beef lovely, Yorkshire overcooked & veg mush. Booked by phone for table in restaurant to be told when we got there the restaurant not open. Were seated in pub with several dogs. No cutlery so had to ask, then she forgot condiments.
Cute little pub in the middle of various hike of the area. Food is nice and having a cold drink in summer in those surroundings is quite the experience. Veggie cauliflowers wings are really good, unfortunately the veggie burger is quite average. Staff is lovely. Tables could be more levelled and/or have less gaps as we easily dropped our food in between the slats.
First time there. Just had a drink. plenty of outdoor seating. They serve food. A short walk away is a river with bridge. My cousin and his little dog loved it there. ideal for dogs to have a dip on a warm day.
Location was lovely, staff were nice, but we unfortunately went there on a sunny day, so the place was too busy. There was no table service, had to queue for 30 minutes to order food. The food then took an hour to come out. When it did come out it really wasnt very good. I had pie, the pastry was rock hard. Just ate the filling out of it in the end.
Good meal selections that suited all age groups and GFs. Everything good apart from 1 meal left at the pass! However after we left and all closed up I found I had a puncture. Just needed postcode and address for an AA call out. Wonderful barman/owner immediately came outside and changed my tyre. Sir Gallahad!
Love this pub off the main roads of Sarratt. Best pub in the area, with great ales & a good selection of beers & wines. Plenty of outdoor seating & a new addition of a small tipi with heaters for the not so nice summer, or winter days. Food isnt super cheap, but is very nice. Fairy big car park with a field for overflow parking on busy days. Interior could do with a slight update, but us very nice & traditional.
A charming village pub/restaurant with a good basic menu including vegetarian and vegan options. Good food at value for money prices in pleasant surroundings and with friendly and efficient staff. Will be back...
Excellent food and service at very reasonable prices. I went for the Two Course lunch for £14 which included a Scotch Egg Salad (possibly the best Scotch Egg Ive had in my life!and the pork belly for the main (which again was of exceptional quality). This was an excellent choice for a lunch stop when doing the Chess Valley Walk. Friends I went with for the walk travelled up from London together with me and some have commented that they loved the place so much that they might just make the trip out again just for the food itself!!
The food was really lovely. Great place to have lunch, if youre in the area.
Stopped here on my way during the Chess Valley walk. Amazing pub with great countryside character. Plenty of parking and a big garden to sit in and relax. Very welcoming ownership. Though I didnt eat much here, the food looked rather inviting. A definite recommendation.
Absolutely superb lunch on New Year’s Eve! Warm, cosy, rustic pub - great food, mulled wine and a good selection of ales. This is a proper old school English country pub if that’s what you are looking for. Dog friendly too. Well worth a visit!
Love driving/riding to Sarratt. Had lunch here at the Cock Inn. ‘Llight bites’ on the menu were a meal! I ordered a club sandwich.. was a good pub lunch! Nice selection of beer.
