MoreAn experience, tests your senses on every level. All good, memorable and unique.Good luck to all those involved in this Charity
MoreNot only is this restaurant part of a fantastic rehabilitation project, The Clink also serves delicious, creative dishes. The staff are friendly and attentive too. Highly recommend this for a memorable dining experience. Thank you
MoreDelicious food, efficient and attentive service, beautiful decor and facilities. A great birthday treat!
MoreIf you can bear with all the rigmarole of getting into the prison, you will have lovely food served by very pleasant people.
MoreA very memorable experience. The set menu was delicious and service was very attentive. A very worthy cause for a nice evening out.
MoreWent for the Sunday Lunch. First the Greeters and staff are fab. Our server Banksy was amazing thanks for an enjoyable lunch. The mocktail G&T tasted like the alcohol version. Very impressed. But really feel let down by the food! Ordered a latte and served milky water. Sent it back and then got a proper latte. I had the Sunday roast beef. Tuff tuff meat and luke warm to cold. The Yorkshire pudding cold and dried out. It seems as this plate was sitting in steamer not plated as ordered. My friends chicken hot but very dry little gravy. The cauliflower cheese room temperature. The starters liver pate and pumpkin soup were lovely. My desserts looked like the Bristol Stool Scale! I had the poached pear with chocolate ice cream, a piece of chocolate cake pear and dropping of chocolate pieces. The cake was like survival cake extremely dry brittle and tasteless. The dropping of chocolate tasted like old dried out , old chocolate. The pear and ice cream were lovely. Would never return we made a 100 pound donation for horrible food. Somehow the CLINK should be done for ripping off folks. Walked out there much hungery and poorer. Total rip off!!! Gave 3 stars for the staff not the food...rubbish 🗑!!! I was ready to escape to another restaurant pub or takeaway where I could get a hot decent meal...soooo very disappointed 😞
MoreAmazing Sunday roast, food excellent Mo our waiter was polite and gave such good service definitely recommend and will go back
MoreBlown away by this place. As someone who works in criminal law and is incredibly passionate about changing attitudes, transforming lives and creating second chances surrounding prisoners, I was really looking forward to visiting the Clink restaurant for a very long time. We decided to book for the autumnal Sunday lunch menu, and WOW. It was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. I had the goat cheese and walnuts croquettes, the leek and celeriac pie main and the poached pear dessert. My partner had the chicken liver parfait starter, sea bass dessert and apple crumble main. I have never seen my partner finish every little thing on each plate as he did at the Clink! The food was phenomenal!!! The prisoners at the restaurant were all incredibly polite and friendly and happy to chat and interact with us. Our waiter, Banksy especially lovely. We really enjoyed the chats we had with him about how the Clink training is going and his future plans. It was a pleasure to meet him and the other boys who greeted us warmly and were incredibly pleasant throughout. We will remember this experience always. Everyone deserves a second chance. It was great to see the boys put so much care into making sure we were enjoying our meals and had everything we needed. I will definitely be back. Thank you ✨
MoreOne of the most amazing and humbling experiences we’ve ever had.Our waiter Barry was attentive, friendly and lovely to speak to. The food was delicious (especially the apple crumbleand it was so nice to be in a restaurant environment that felt so positive and optimistic. Compared to a normal restaurant- it felt so good to know this goes towards the training and bettering of other peoples lives who have been through a tough time.Barry- so excited for you to see your son in 6 weeks. We hope he enjoys the arcades and we really do wish you all the best for the future.
MoreFriendly service, excellent foodWe have Sunday lunch in the restaurant, the dining experience is definitely worth it.
MoreFood was delicious and felt very looked after by front of house staff. Paul was a great host and made us feel welcome. Highly recommend.
MoreExcellent food, beautifully prepared and served.
We went on a Thursday evening for the gourmet meal . All the staff were very polite and attentive. The food was incredible and there was a good choice . The mocktails were very tasty . It was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had , it was so unique and for a great charity. I would highly recommend and will definitely return . Bought a bag for life , pen and tea towel before I left to support the charity .
MoreThanks for a good time! Everything is delicious, the menu is varied.
Had a great lunch in the restaurant. The food, service and ambience was outstanding - will definitely return.
MoreWonderful food, professionally presented and served. Pity about the very long wait to gain access, but it didnt spoil the experience. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Loved it!
MoreFood top quality - Perfectly executed & perfectly presented. Top marks.
The food was yummy and beautifully presented. The service was fantastic, and if we could have given our waiter Paul a tip, it would have been the biggest ever!
MoreBeautifully set up, and it gave us some insight into the prison setting. Meals were lovely.
MoreDifferent and interesting experience. Delicious refreshing mocktails, really nice food. Great service. Definitely would reccomend it.
MoreI was very wary when my daughter advised me we were going for lunch as she has been before for evening meal,I was not disappointed, the setting was beautiful you thought you were in a restaurant, the waiters for very polite and couldnt do enough for you to make your day out special, the three course meal was absolutely first class, beautiful, will definitely be back for afternoon tea, next time Im visiting my daughter in London, you cant tip the waiters but you can by gifts for yourself to remind you of your trip,I got a lovely tea towel and a straw bag with the clink in it, and I will certainly be telling people of this place, well done to the charity for setting this up,as its all about giving people second chances .
MoreExcellent food, 3 course Sunday lunch, with non alcoholic cocktails. Our waiter David was very polite and friendly. Highly recommend.
MoreUnbelievable food and the service was 5* highly recommend if you get the chance to go
MoreFood we were served slightly different to that described on the menu, but overall a great experience.
MoreI absolutely love this charity and restaurant concept. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is amazing too. Really recommend trying the cocktails and the specials of the day.Special mention to our lovely waiter Shaaz for being friendly, polite and helpful throughout our meal and restaurant manager Sheena for making the yummiest non alcoholic Pimms Ive ever tasted!
MoreThis is one of the best things I’ve done in my life. The food was incredible, service was even better and it is so rewarding to know you are helping out a charity. Our server spoke to us in length about his journey, where he wants to go with his training from the Clink and it was nice to know they’re interested in our lives too. I wish I could pocket up the feeling I had when I walked out the clink and share it with everyone because it is honestly amazing.
MoreA fantastic experience with delicious food and great service. You would never have known theyve only been reopen for one week. I would definitely recommend it, especially for the roast beef and homemade ginger beer. Well definitely be back.
MoreHad such a good time! The staff were wonderful and really made the experience - we asked them lots of questions and they were so open and chatty (and really funny too). The food was delicious and I already want to go back to try more. Definitely a great place to dine. We went with a big group and everything ran so smoothly. 100% would recommend! Also really cute merchandise available for decent prices that go towards the charity - I got a bag for life!
MoreWas not even aware that this existed until I came across it on Virgin experiences.A fantastic charity which is doing so much good to help people. The chef is very talented and the waiters did an amazing and professional job. Very friendly, warm and welcoming. We will definitely continue to support this great charity and I wish everyone who has had the opportunity to take part, the very best of luck. Keep up the good work!
MoreReally nice food! We were expecting the focus to be on a prison experience, with simple food, where in reality it is a fully functioning restaurant in a prison, with gourmet food at a really reasonable price quality ratio. Note you need to book this well in advance for security reasons. (So dont just show up)
MoreIts an unusual experience but worth it.You wait around a lot to get in and you have to leave absolutely everything in a locker outside the prison. Including tissues! We had a three course Sunday lunch meal. The food quality was genuinely outstanding if a bit nouvelle cuisine for me. Also the starter and desert were very small. Its pricey (and no wine allowedbut the cause is so laudable (provide the inmates with real skillsthat it is absolutely worth supporting this excellent restaurant.
MoreSpent a weekend in London with my dad and my brother and we decided to go to The Clink for the Sunday Lunch. It was just perfect. Besides the obvious fact that this is an initiative that deserves to be supported the food and service was actually excellent. Whenever in the area well go there again!
MoreAmazing food, the Sunday lunch was cooked superbly and the staff were excellent and attentive. Unusual locale and different experience gaining entry but totally worth it. Give these guys a chance and you wont regret it. Unfortunately, no phones allowed inside so no pics but take my word for it, a great place to eat.
MoreI visited The Clink with a friend for lunch on Friday 16th Aug. Unfortunately I was taken ill on arrival and could not appreciate the lunch. My review is to commend all that came into contact with me on that day. I was shown great care and compassion. To my waiter, perhaps it was good experience for you when presented with a challenging situation. You offered me lemon tea, kept asking how I was, could you get me anything. In the end you were left just looking after my friend as I retreated . To the Head chef trainer, thank you for allowing me to "crash out" in your office. So to all once again very many thanks and I plan to return so that I can actually enjoy the full Clink experience. My friend however did eat and thoroughly enjoyed her lunch and the whole visit. We shall return.
MoreA truly great concept for a memorable experience. While the food wasnt michelin star it was very enjoyable and of a very good quality, better than most normal restaurants Ive been to. The staff there were very friendly and attentive, I think this is a great initiative and wish them all the best
MoreWe had a great time at this, arguably one of the most original dining experiences in London. Impressive that they can pull off a gourmet night in a prison at all, let alone do such a good job.We expected security to be challenging at entry, but this was fairly smoothly dealt with by experienced staff. Pockets are emptied into individual lockers, no phones, paper, or anything that could be passed on inside, then a frisk search, and through the courtyard into the diner.A curious, and not surprisingly, original atmosphere in the restaurant, in addition to the whole arrival experience, but everyone knows why theyre there, and seem committed to doing a good job. Great food with enthusiastic, if not slightly self-conscious service.
MoreThe food was amazing, especially the insane Yorkshire puddings. Best Sunday lunch Ive had out in a long time. Our waiter Faiyal, I think its spelt like that, was attentive, polite and seemed very nervous. I would recommend going to everyone. It was a brilliant eye opening experience to see all these young men being given an opportunity to change their futures and build confidence but their was an underlying sadness for me of how they ended up here in the first place and the gravity of our surroundings. Definitely go, eat, check it out and support this amazing charity programme!
MoreWe were working within the prison and decided to have lunch in The Clink. What a surprisingly pleasant experience. The inmates are very nice and attentive to you. Very well presented and service worthy of a 4 or 5 star restaurant. The food was amazing to be honest. We only had a Chicken Caesar Salad but it was delicious! The chicken was great, the cheese and bacon just perfect. The salad was lovely and fresh. Portion sizes where perfect. Certainly not small but not so big that it put you off. The venue itself once your inside certainly does not hint at its real location. Tiled walls, nice big tables, as you would expect in some top restaurants, the only hint of the its real location is plastic cutlery although it isn’t your usual plastic cutlery and is substantial enough for your to eat without concern of snapping it. Overall a very pleasant experience and certainly a place I would recommend.
MoreSo lets start this review in reverse of most others... our experience today was very moving. Our waiter was "Louis" and other restaurants could take note! This lad was polite, attentive and although clearly not his trade, was brilliant. Very easy to judge (after all who was an inmate in a prisonand obviously not there for good behaviour. However, sometimes lifes decisions arent always right and hope that whatever Louis decides when hes released he takes this brilliant experience with him and rebuild a positive life. The food was outstanding and restaurant decor was relaxing but bars on windows and security checks make the reality kick in that yes its a prison! So to the person who left only 1* for HMP Brixton not letting him in for being late... perhaps you need to think why??? Hello.... security!!I would not hesitate to recommend this and clearly the rehabilitation that the service is trying to do. A massive "well done" to Clink and a big thank you to Louis!!!
MoreUnbelievable good food inside the prison. Book in advance as it takes 3 emails, over a week, to get your booking confirmation.
MoreGood idea. Well presented food..inmates where polite and tried hard. Only reason I give it a 4 star is because 3 out of 6 of us got Delhi Belly! Tasted good at the time though and Id definitely recommend the experience.
MoreGreat experience. Well prepared food with excellent service that surpasses most restaurants in London. Waiting staff were polite, attentive, humble and dedicated. Artwork was also created by inmates. Logistics could have been better - a fair amount of time waiting ahead of the meal however understand security and risks had to be managed. Would recommend.
MoreDenied entry for being “late”, will never book there againWe were booked for Sunday lunch, sitting 1 - 3:30 pm, and were looking forward to a special meal, worth the journey across London and compliance with the prison’s various rules for visitors. Because of traffic, we arrived later than planned, at two minutes to one. We were denied entry because we were “late” – despite having booked months in advance and paid a £15 a head deposit. We were told we should have arrived 30 minutes before our booking (the instructions said 15 minutesand we could ring the following week to book again for some other Sunday (likely months away given the lack of availability). We subsequently went to a nearby pub and had Sunday lunch for less money than the Clink would have cost and without the hassle. We had heard that the food at the Clink was excellent and liked the idea of supporting this charity; however, after this experience we will never book a meal there again.
MoreGreat food & such a worthwhile charity.Once you are through security, you forget ( apart from the plastic cutlerythat you are inside a prison.Staff are friendly & courteous, service & food impeccable. So pleased to support them. Good luck to Sonny, our waiter. Hope he does well in the future
MoreA great initiative for a good cause. The food is to the standard of any top London restaurant such as The Ivy. They do their best with the service but it could be better, however, considering the surroundings and the circumstances theyre doing a great job. Ill be back!
MoreHonestly, best pork belly I’ve had in years. The staff are amazing- our waiter Riccardo was such a lovely guy and great at his job.Really great atmosphere as well, felt like the prisoners really were benefiting from the program. Highly recommended!
MoreGood food and unique experience. Staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was good with a wide selection and as I dont drink it was great to be in an alcohol free restaurant. Also its wonderful to have the privilege to be part of a rehabilitation process. Our waiter was great.
MoreIm giving The Clink a 4 star based on the whole experience. What a great idea to have this restaurant to help inmates in preparation of their release date. Extremely interesting being inside the prison and being able to talk to the people and learn about their experience in the programme.Food-wise it wasnt great. Portions were quite small and a bit bland. The best by far were the desserts and macaroons. Very very good.I would recommend everybody to visit The Clink and help spread the word about its existence.
MoreSunday lunch at the clink was an excellent experience. Will blow all your expectations and preconceptions away. The food was well presented and very tasty. Portions are huge. Make sure you go with an empty stomach or someone who can wheel you out. Greta value for money and something that makes a huge difference to many peoples lives. Excited to check out the other locations across the country.
