The Climbing Hangar Swansea - Rock climbing gym in Neath, United Kingdom
Really good kids club. Super friendly staff that get my child climbing. Very good. New routes weekly.
This climbing gym may not be the biggest but in my opinion it certainly offers the best value for money in the South Wales area. Cheap membership, cheap entry that includes shoes if you need to borrow some and they make some great food. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable too. Some of the bigger chains that have opened up recently could really learn a thing or two.
Superb place cant fault it. Daughter loves her weekly class here. Cafe is tremendous as well!
Newbie climber! Very much enjoyed my experience :)You have to complete a waiver before you can climb.Newbies receive an Induction before first climbs.I found everyone helpful and I progressed quickly to Green/Orange climbs; Ill be back
Went there for the first time and a really good fun activity. Physically demanding and really good exercise. The lack of a rope makes hanging on all the more precarious however the crash mats are more than capable of cushioning a fall.I shall definitely be coming back.
A great place with awesome staff and great coffee
Gets very busy at peak times but great fun at off peak times!! (Daytime)The cafe area also offers many vegan options and particularly delicious smoothies.Love it here and would highly recommend to others!
Took my son who is 7 here and he loves it the fact that there is no harnesses and the easy coloured courses to follow are a dream for him.It can get very busy there at times but thats to be expected but everyone seems courteous and offer advice if you cant make it past a certain part etc .All in all a good way to get the kids to burn energy but can be expensive if you are a family of 4
Cafe herebis excellent. Varied and very yummy meals and cakes. Veggie options great. And friendly staff. What more can you ask for 🥰🍪
Awesome stuff. Well worth the money and visit.
Granddaughter loved it but was I was not happy when we arrived as it was our 1st time and no introduction given to us about shoe hire etc.
Our daughter had a climbing lesson here and loved it. The staff were lovely and the coffee shop there had nice chilled music.Definitely will return.
It’s not the largest gym (not that that is all a bad thingbut the coffee was great, the staff were super welcoming and the route setting was fun, challenging and varied. What not to love?
Friendly staff they know what they are on about , they look like climbing enthusiasts themselves to be honest. Coffee shop was nice, first aid provided to me as my skin has torn from my palms, basic equipment provided and the difficulty colours made it quite engaging to assess ones level. If youre after high walls and hanging on a rope this is not that place.
I was completely new to bouldering and climing only having done one intro lead climbing experience elsewhere.I caught the climbing bug on the first visit it was so much fun! I have now been countless times over the past 9 months. Ive become a member and invested in a pair of shoes, which the staff helped me massively with as I would have bought the completely wrong size if left to my own choices 😅.Update: Still awesome!
First Went with son-in-law and grandson, been member since.I love it.great fun and excellent way to keep fit.👍
Weve just had our sons birthday party here with 8 of his friends and it was brilliant! Super friendly, super fun staff. The party food was great, amazing pizzas. The cafe is also fantastic, and licensed so great for parents. (And cracking air con which was a pleasant surprise on a hot day). Everyone really enjoyed, would 100% recommend :)
Great bouldering centre, Im new to bouldering but the staff here are very friendly and welcoming, and genuinely seem to love what they do. Weve found it to be quite busy when we visit, but its not too much of an issue. Theres even a cafe on site and youre able to buy bouldering gear. Would definitely recommend this place if youre looking to try bouldering.
Dog friendly, great menu, friendly staff, crème de la crème :)
Love it here. I have climbed here and it has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Its the type of place where you can talk to your fellow climbers - youll feel completely welcome. Dont be surprised if some strangers cheer you on or offer to help you with a problem. The café also deserves a shout out. Such a great vibe, coffee is delicious, and they allow (and love!dogs. Their chilli mango cheese toastie is epic and I can vouch for their gluten free bread being tasty!
The Climbing Hangar is a great place to climb. Theres a really nice climbing community there. The more experienced climbers are really supportive and will give you pointers. They have a new set every week which means theres always a new challenge. They have a great selection of food and drinks which is perfect for socialising after a climb. The staff are always helpful and friendly.
Super friendly staff and community as a whole. Great atmosphere!
Best climbing gym, visit regularly! Lovely supportive staff, great and accessible for fellow disabled climbers and have a very good cafe! Really good prices, really worth checking out. Amazing, clean and my favourite gym!
Nice atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, and good fun!
First visit. A thorough intro was given for the young ones. Excellent range of short boulder climbs for over 8s maybe a little tough for younger kids, but there is a smaller area upstairs. The climbs are changed frequently. They do parties and food too. One of the better efforts for this kind of activity in our region.
My daughter along with 11 friends had her 5th Birthday party at the climbing hanger today. The party was taken by Sam, who was amazing with the children, he kept them all engaged and entertained, I cant Thank him enough....The food was fantastic and plenty of it. It really was a brilliant party, Thank you everyone. We will see you soon.
Lovely staff. Really good fun. Kids want to go back again. Highly recommend 👍
Great place for serious adult boulderers to hone their climbing techniques (although the staff are trying to cater more for children these days). Great for both men and women - lovely, helpful staff and really friendly regular climbers who are always happy to give you tips. Great place to meet new people. Free yoga classes for members too!
Hands down one of the best bouldering centres. It was our first time visiting, Sam was extremely friendly and accommodating in showing us around. We made use of the free guest offer which already made it excellent value for money, but was amazed at the fact shoes were also free to hire as well as chalk bags! The routes were interesting and varied compared to most locations weve been, there really was something for everyone. Great changing and clean showering facilities too. We didnt get chance to try out the sourdough pizzas freshly made on-site but we will definitely be back!
Writing this review while waiting for my induction, signed the waiver and been sitting here for an hour waiting while the staff stand still… they seem rude and uninterested so unless you want to waste a day trying to get started don’t bother.
Amazing place! My 4 year old is in a class Sunday morning, so safe, borrowed shoes and the price is amazing for an hour of activity!
Very friendly, good pizza, good coffee. Ain’t nothing wrong with the walls but sure does smell like sweaty feet.
We took a school group here last month. The hangar team were very accommodating for our learners. Asha who ran the session did an awesome job of keeping them engaged and made sure they had a fab time. Thanks team!
Great bouldering facility with a lovely reception and cafe area. Nice changing rooms if needed upstairs as well as a small warm up room. The main hall is filled with various problems but I found it a little frustrating that they are colour coded in difficulty levels but not graded individually. Lovely and helpful staff.
As a partially disabled climber, this gym has made me feel welcome, able and motivated to climb. Thanks to the lovely staff and the amazing service, I would love to make this my primary gym. Nothing is too much for the staff, from free shoe fittings to talks on which chalk you should use, they do it all! I cannot recommend this gym enough!
Went climbing recently, had a great time.Really good set up with a wide range of climbs.Amazing help from Natalie who assisted in posting my forgotten water bottle, she is great and an asset to the team.10/10
Really nice bouldering centre, very helpful and friendly staff. Great variety of boulder problems at a range of difficulties. Like there grading system by colour but not tying it to another system (e.g. V Grades). Only negative was the showers being closed due to Covid-19.
Awesome set up, I was expecting a draughty warehouse, but this place is very plush and welcoming. Nice cafe, loads of facilities, kids area, adult training area, brightly lit, showers. Its a great place for a rainy day.Negatives: climbing is addictive, and at £20 a time for dad and son, it soon adds up 😭The staff are great. However, as in all sports, there are random self appointed "expert/coaches" who love to latch on to newbies and advise / demo, which is good at first, but can be irritating after a while. This is not unique to the Hangar, its just a phenomena Ive noticed.
It can sometimes be a bit crowded on the walls, but the problems here are really fun to do. The café just outside is gorgeous and the clothing they sell is stylish.
It was a bit small but had a lot of great climbing walls and plenty of advanced routes as well. Overall a lot of fun and very friendly staff with nice food and coffee while youre having a break too
Great modern bouldering centre with lots of routes and seems to cater well for beginners unlike other gyms. A welcome addition to Swansea and a great way to spend an afternoon away from the rain
But if a tricky review... Booked a first timer slot for a Friday evening.. 7 to 9...arrived at 6.50... Got checked in swiftly by the guy on reception, he explained everything and said someone would pop over to grab us for the induction. We sat at an empty table to swap over our footwear and then a young girl who worked there appeared, with a simple this tables reserved, no hello or just to let you know a simple arrogant this tables reserved, so we got up and moved, no thank you.. 0 sign on the table which was empty. So as time went on (about 7.10the reserve table filled up for some social event including 2 of the staff members sitting down with the table full of people...Still a large queue of people checking in and going in to climb, low and behold 7.30 comes...At this point it was clear there were a few guys running late who would be included in the induction. 2 staff members still sitting with the social group and 2 young guys in the till working there way through the queue...Eventually the guys were there now also waiting for an induction, which finally kicked off around 7.45...The guy on the till and running the induction could not be more apologetic for the wait, he was clearly juggling a few things (also had an hand injuryso fair play to him for ploughing through a busy evening. The rude "this tables reserved" staff member, just put a bit of a downer on the whole experience.. It was quite clear that regulars and the table of 12 or so people were of much more importance than randoms trying something new.Its a shame because we did enjoy the half session that we had, but the atmosphere created by a few staff members let the evening down.
Met the staff, Sam and Mark, at the hangar, today. Amazing, amazing, amazing. As a total non-climber, I was totally expecting the whole place to feel cliquey, unfriendly and elitist. Instead , its the TOTAL OPPOSITE. Just really hope the place doesnt lose the inclusive, chilled, crazy vibe now Sams leaving to start their new branch in Sheffield. The culture hes created at Swansea is a credit to Jed and the owners. Thanks so much, Sam and team, for inspiring my daughters to take up the sport. Well miss ya!
Really fun day out... Er... In!Wall rotation is good, and its a great workout. Their café is nice too, and its not too pricey.Definitely a great place to make new friends and get a good exercise in!
I took my boys here it was brilliant well worth the money we bought the membership afterwards because my boys loved it so much were going to be coming back to hang out some more.
The cliffhanger swansea is an amazing venue for a birthday party. The staff were so much fun and really praised and encouraged all the children. The party food was absolutely stunning. Top quality and lots of it to go around.
A great place for new climbers, accomplished climbers and everything in between. The staff are lovely, the other climbers are really nice and helpful too. Recently joined as a member due to how much this place impressed me.
Our First time here and my 4 year old twin boys first time climbing bouldering walls. Absolutely fantastic for them and they have said they want to go every week. Staff were super friendly and efficient, obviously gurus in the climbing world. The place is clean, tidy and most importantly, Safe 🙏
Great indoor bouldering facilities, clean changing rooms and a lovely cafe area! Overall great place and a must visit location. It was my first time bouldering here in Swansea and the staff were amazing and friendly! Shoe hire, chalk bag hire and one adult climb all for £11 is very competitive especially with how good the facilities are.Would recommend to all experiences
Brilliant place. Staff are incredibly helpful, cafe is brilliant and climbing space is great. Good mix of easy and difficult challenges
