21-25, The Clapham Grand, St John's Hill, London SW11 1TT, Akjoujt
Refurbished Victorian music hall hosting weekly club nights, eclectic live music line-up and comedy.
Great venue to see bands. Sound was good and various levels mean that you can normally find a decent view.Lovely period detail in the hall. I particularly liked the monsters heads with illuminated eyes that line the 1st floor balcony!Plenty of bar staff means getting served very quickly. The only downside was the bar prices; as of Nov 2022 it was £6.50 for a 330ml can of beer.
A really fantastic venue had a truly great evening, totally would gladly go there again.
Fabulous venue, great atmosphere, here to see NEU tonight, Stephen Morris & Paul Weller played along on the last couple of songs, outstanding.
A very friendly venue with helpful staff and (this evening at leastgreat soundVery handy for Clapham Junction.Upstairs seating steep and not bookable so arrive early for it
Came for bongos bingo. Had a great time but they closed all the bars before it finished. Everyone had to leave and re-enter for the evening.
Its a great venue in some ways and the line ups are awesome. But Ive been to three shows where Ive been sat upstairs and not been able to see the stage at all.The safety bars cover the view and without fail someone stands at the front and it ripples back.Such a shame. But glittery loos are fun... 🤷I got a reply from the venue saying they will enforce seating better in future. Watch this space.Still has the best drag in South London.
Went for birthday to see Hocus Pocus movie AMAZING!! The actors were amazing atmosphere brilliant. Downfall more bar and food staff needed and considering was refurbished recently the toilets need a good clean and redo. Drink prices are way to expensive. Main staff and most security were very nice.
The Clapham Grand is a beautiful venue with real heart. Their lineup of shows and events are fantastic and always entertaining. Decent value for money whilst keeping that indie atmosphere, do yourself a favour and check it out.
OMG this place is amazing so interesting and creepy. Love the gargoyles with the lit up eyes! We were here to see Joe Black. The show was amazing.
October 2022Joe Black: Club Cataclysm.10********** OMG what a performer!!! This is now my #1 One-man-show!!! Old school cabaret, it was very intertaining, funny, professional... Joe got lots of hidden talents (at least fr my point of view= it was my 1st when I saw his show). Interaction with audience is fantastic & we were part of the show as well by signing with him. When I saw that hes @ London I booked tix immediately = 3weeks ago as I know how got it will be!!!... Many thx Joe 4 wonderful Pre-Halloween-Show & lots of fun... I hope 2see u soon again as u r soooo unique... Btw I saw Death Drop 3hours prior & it was sooo booring that I felt down sleep in 1st half & was thinking of leaving bfr 2nd part started...August 2022I saw tonight The best of Hans Zimmer... Its was unbelievable 💖... BUT... I was not happy with this venue : 1. Line was Not very good organised as it was Super Long = even 20min bfr performance there was 25metres long que... Instead of having 2xstaff members in the middle of the que asking us "how we r?" = they should made 2nd line & it would be much quicker... Also having separate lane just 4 ppl with Bags would b gr8 as that how other busy venues r doing this... 2. They could hv lift on site as we get in just 10min bfr it stared only 2b told, that we need 2go all the way on top which is line 6x staircases... 3. Super long que @ bar... We gave up & grab water in hallway which was HOT WITH NO ICE 😳... 4. VERY HOT ON TOP LIKE SAUNA= knowing this we would wear shorts & flip flops... They should seriously invest in some AC SYSTEM as it was unbearable... Bear in mind we were 2nd concert that evening & temperature was very high... 5. When we asked member of staff 2open both doors on each side @ interval 2get some drift he refused... I am. Not sure if we will be coming bck.... Its shame as music was brilliant... Free ice cold water & fan would be nice
Nice venue, with clean toilets and nice seating arrangement. I attended a concert/festival at this venue and enjoyed it. The artists I went to watch made it all the more worth my while.
Great venue , really beautifulStaff do friendlyWe watched Ru Paul’s drag race s4 ep6 with meet and greet
I had wonderful time at the peace festival where Idris Elba was the headline act. Its a spacious venue and well lit. Good if you want a nice space to host an event.
Old theatre coverted into nightclub. £6 for a can of nice beer seems fair in this day and age.
Fantastic venue staff. I called ahead to ask for an accessible seat for a group member who couldnt stand for long, and they were extremely friendly and prepared. When we arrived theyd actually saved three seats so we could all sit if necessary. I had a small bag with cake in it for my friends birthday, and instead of confiscating it they just held it behind the ticket desk until we left. Just A++ on accessibility. My only complaint was that the whole bar area smelled like hot dogs... Id have hoped the popcorn smell would win out!
Took way too long to get into the venue. Apparently the show organizers were late setting up but it was unfair to have us standing out in the cold for an hour
I have been in this place twice. In both occasions, it was for a concert. Spacious place, 2 toilets, both for female and male. If crowded, complicated to reach the bar area. Overall, nice experience😌
Long journey up multiple stairs to get to bathroom/cloakroom. View of stage from the top rows is not great. Lovely staff and clean environment.
Joe the show was immense but the incumbent staff were polite and professional. Im not a clubber but would be happy to attend any other event here
Good venue layout and atmosphere, but come on you cant be charging £6 for a 330ml can of lager.
Its a different place, I went there for a Musical Grease event, the architecture is very atypical and refers to darker things... But overall it was very interesting, especially for Musical Grease fans 😀😀
Great service provided for the American comedian Desi Banks, for his first UK SOLD OUT SHOW/TOUR. Also Thanks to the lady who is a manager there apologies as I forgot your name.
The premier place for entertainment in London, bar none, the end. Promoting equality and diversity under the guise of fun and having a good time. You will not find a nicer venue with the staff eager to help and genuinely nice people who want to be there. Top level comedians, drag artists and more all for a reasonable price. You can even get vegan hot dogs. The venue has had recent refurb and its as beautiful inside as the atmosphere is on a night out
One of the worst clubs in London. To sum this place up; Expensive drinks, power tripping and abusive bouncers, and awful taste in music. Just avoid this place and go somewhere worth your time and money. I am baffled this place stays open.
There’s very few places like the Clapham Grand nowadays: welcoming, safe, friendly, and a beautiful venue. The staff were very accommodating to a need I had when attending the Enough is Enough campaign launch, and they’re consistently friendly when attending music events here too! I always look out for events here, and look forward to returning. Thank you Clapham Grand for everything you do for live music!
Every time I visit, I have an incredible time! From movie singalongs to exquisite performances to interactive events and everything else in between, The Clapham Grand has it all and brings BIG, SILLY, and FUN to every offering!! Friends I brought last week even enjoyed their vegan hot dogs. Go to their website and find something to attend RIGHT NOW!! Thank you, Grand Team!
Nice and spacious inside. Upper area is unreserved seats, you could also stand at the top balcony area near the bar for a top view. Long queues outside so best to get to a show early before the doors open. Its directly opposite the Clapham Junction station, which runs on the Overground.
Always a great night out. Drinks are a little expensive but THE place to go in London for the best of camp, whether Bongos Bingo or a Drag show. Fantastic.Been for stand up too, also a great venue!
We went to Outhaus on Saturday night. We were really nervous we weren’t going to make the event coming from the Lady GaGa concert and stuck in a lot of traffic. However we contacted the staff and they responded rapidly stating how they would extend the doors a bit longer so we could make it. Thankfully we made it just in time and ended up having a fantastic evening. The staff are wonderful and made everyone feel welcome. We really appreciate how they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great night! We will be back again.
Its a nice place, friendly staff, good size dancing floor, stage and a bar at the back.
Never been into wrestling, 1st time ever at alive match, brilliant, loved it, so entertaining, everyone friendly, good laugh,(And a few nice bodies,to put a smile on your face 😉).x
Ive been to The Clapham Grand a couple of times now with friends to see drag shows. The venue is amazing, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the shows were brilliant! We saw The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney and Tia Kofi at the pre-pride party and it was fantastic!
I went to see Kikagaku Moyo here, overall I had a Great experience. Nice venue, the seats were really convenient. Quite spacious and the sound travelled well.
Absolutely adore this venue and have been a Friend of the Grand since 2020. I have been to multiple events including sing along movie nights, comedy shows, drag shows, Circus of Horrors, and most recently Riot Cabaret and cannot recommend highly enough 💜
Attended the greatest brunch. Had a blast from start to finish!!! Service was great! The stage performances were amazing and they got you up and dancing to the songs. Made for all ages , Im currently 34 weeks pregnant so not drinking and had a great afternoon!!!
Honestly such a great experience. We went to the Twisted Circus Drag show and got the best treatment. All the staff from the door to the bar were very engaged. They even let us take a spare booth as we couldnt really handle the crowds and standing for long periods. It made us feel very special and got to enjoy the show to the fullest. My partner lives close by and excited to go to more events there as I felt very comfortable and welcomed.
Five of us came to watch The Klub Kids Twisted Circus at Clapham Grand on Monday night and what a night we had. Dancing💃, singing, amazing Queens 👑 with amazing performances. A really great Venue with perfect views of the stage wherever you are, the staff were all friendly and approachable. We had 2 of our group who were virgins to a Drag show and what a way to introduce them , we had so much fun and all went home hoarse from singing and red roar hands from clapping so much. Thank You Klub Kids we love you and thank you Clapham Grand for one fantastic night at such a great venue ❤️
Awesome venue that has a really beautiful interior. Lots of area for standing and some for seating. Bar is at the back of the room. Intimate to the stage which is really great for performances. Had an awesome time here!
I watched the Circus of Horrors tonight, which was an absolutely amazing show and outstanding entertainment. The venue was good with plenty of space and clean toilets. I did not think much of the drinks at the venue, as the wine tasted cheap/old and a single vodka Redbull sets you back a harsh £9.80p. But overall this was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and would recommend to anyone with an adult sense of humour.
Great little venue for gigs small and very intimate. Strange place for the cloak room halfway up the stair though.
Went for the first gig after restrictions lifted in July (Frank Turnerand then again for bongos bingo, both nights were so much fun the staff cant do enough to help and its just such a great local venue!
Had another great night out at the Clapham Grand seeing Jimeoin. Staff were efficient in getting us inside and friendly in showing us our seats and serving at the bar. On the ground floor, the stools around the bar give a fantastic view of the stage. Easily one of my favourite venues in London. Cheers to the team!
Great Movie Nights and Afterparties - the best of nightclubs. Always fun, silliness and the inner-child always allowed. Great productions, great atmosphere, genial people, great decoration, confetti craziness and the best balloon drops in South East England make this the place to party. Ive been alone at times and taken work-mates at others who enjoyed it immensely. Often live acts, live orchestras and singalongs - and all in a historic setting keeping this century old place of entertainment singing for the purpose it was built.
Seen many drag shows at this venue. Always well organised and a great lineup, especially over the last couple of years. This venue has the variance and robustness of continuing to entertain many 1000s of people for many years to come. Always happy to support this venue and really like their LGBTQ+ friendly atmosphere.
Went to see the United Kingdolls here in July 2021. Was a really fun night and a good atmosphere. The drinks were a little on the expensive side, but we didn’t mind because they weren’t just all mixer.
Great venue, really cool and unique. Ive had some great nights here and went to see Jack Garratt the other day, which was amazing. Staff were fantastic, there were good Covid regulations in place. Knocked a star off because the drinks prices are pretty extortionate, especially considering you cant get a pint... But otherwise fantastic!
A fantastic venue with the kindest, most helpful staff and brilliant events. I’ve been to 7 events here in the past 18 months - some have been socially distanced and have all felt safe with every possible measure in place. The ‘normal’ gig was amazing and I can’t think of a better place to return to gigs. My only gripe is that the beer selection could be significantly improved! Well done to Ally for managing London’s best venue.
Since social distancing restrictions have lifted I have been to two live music shows at the Clapham Grand - both were brilliant experiences, thanks to the friendly staff, the beautiful building, and an atmosphere which was both exciting and intimate. Absolutely loved it here and will hope to go again soon.
Was at the Clapham Grand for a music quiz night which was fun. The venue suited the event. Wait times at the bar werent bad for a Saturday night.Staff nice and friendly. Only downer was we were a party of 7 and put on a 6 seater table. We made do and made it work. Its close to Clapham Junction station and other busses. It also has other restaurants and bars you can go to before getting to the Grand.Theres a Tortilla, a Vietnamese restaurant, a sports bar, Revolution, and a Pizza Express at the time of writing this.
Really good venue! Went here today for Hiphop brunch (friends 40th). Music was great! karaoke, there was a live magician going around which was also very cool.good crowd and everyone just up for a good fun and laugh. Also a raffle for a temp tattoo! 😁Food - not that great unfortunately, we had onion bhaji which was decent, the main was a chicken and rice dish which was not that good and dessert was really average. A shame as apart from that everything else was great! Bouncers and staff really friendly!
