Bustling SoMa spot with Irish pub grub & beers on tap plus sports on the satellite TV.
Decent place - traditional Irish pub. Guinness was 9 bucks a pint, a bit silly, but it’s SF so expected
I came here for dessert and I GOT DESSERT. My favorite was absolutely the chocolate cake but the apple tart was exceptionally flavorful and crispy. Will definitely stop by for dinner soon!
Great atmosphere and even a few options for vegetarians.
Dont order nachos or margarita probably the worst Ive ever placed in my mouth. Ordered nachos and they brought our over chips woth a bit of cheese and the rest and called it irish nachos. Few decent IPAs though
Great food large portion $$ for SF
Great atmosphere and kind service staff. They seemed a little understaffed but despite this they were kind and attentive. The food was typical pub fair but on the higher end of quality. Somewhat limited beer selection but what they had was great!
Worst pub ever. First they let you order, then they kick you out because your doughter is too young to stay after 22.00. The owner thinks we have a problem with the rules, but the problem is they first let you order and pay, and after 2 minutes they tell you to leave. If you dont want tourists, just put up a sign!
We were down from Oregon and were recommended this Pub. EVERYTHING about our experience was ALL we could ask for. Such good food, drinks, atmosphere and people.. A magical experience we will cherish for life! Thank You!
Great authentic atmosphere. Had a great Black & Tan and the Scotch flights looked nummy. Good selection.
Nice little pub tucked in downtown SF. Decided to get a couple of apps instead of an entree because they looked so good: roasted brussels sprout in a soy/chili/honey reduction, and pub fries with lamb chili and cheddar. Delicious and large portions; had to take most home. Have a great beer selection too... you dont often find Kilkenny Cream Ale on tap!
Bartender was awesome, We had the wings.. delicious. Very welcoming pub..
Decent pub fair. Solid beer and cocktail choices. One of the better pints of Guinness Ive had in the Bay Area.
Consistently good food and staff. Ill miss going here every week.
Really great food, great selection of drinks and service was perfect. Highly recommend, thank you!!
The chieftain is still wonderful and one of our favorite places to visit! Try the brussel sprouts and birria 🌮 tacos. Tacos in an Irish place?! YES they’re fantastic! One of the few places you can get a traditional Irish breakfast. They also have Kilkenny on top which if you know you know. Always a treat!
Went for a beer. Friendly staff and clients to keep you entained. Also sell pub food and Guiness.
Great service, great atmosphere & great drink selection.
Ate at a standup bar table with a friend. Great pub feel and environment. Both had the lamb burger and shared grilled sprouts which were excellent. Tap selection was impressive with lots of styles available.
Fantastic reception from the bartender. If he didnt own the place, his confidence and courtesy made me feel like he did. Came in as the last guy eating in the evening and they made me a perfect lamb Burger.I couldnt have been happier with my visit.
Delicious Lamb Chile & Great Caesar Salad with Anchovies. Nice to see clean tables & chairs. And wait staff greeted & served me with a smile.🙂Thank you # 14 Viktoriia
Fun spot with friendly staff. The food was ok but worth it.
I had the Irish grill -- it was excellent! Also had the jalapeno and cheese potato croquettes, which were incred. Friendly staff-- Ill definitely be back!
Let me first start by saying I didnt go here for beer or drinks like probably 90% of the people go who here. We wanted some Irish pub food. I got the shepherds pie and my wife for the Irish stew. Both were under seasoned and a bit below expectations. I wouldnt recommend either. However, the brussel sprouts appetizer was absolutely awesome. It seemed like a grab a drink and a couple apps type place and that would be great. Service was good. The lady was so so nice but definitely struggling under the pressure. Had multiples of the food brought out and confusingly taken away. The place has a charming look/atmosphere though.
Close to the convention center, good selection of draft beers, standard pub food. Nice and relaxed and great service
My brother and friend randomly stumbled into this bar on a Friday night after the giants game. The bar was not crowded but it was busy. The bartender immediately tended to us and was very friendly. We didnt order food, just drinks. We werent there for more than 15 minutes but it was a pleasant experience. Definitely seems like a cool place to hangout and enjoy some good pub food and a drink. Ill have to come back.
Yum...first night in San Francisco and our son brought us here. I had the Irish stew which was filling and very good. The Bangers and Mash looked amazing as the Shepherds Pie. Highly recommend this quaint corner bar!!
Really cool little Irish pub with great food. They have a descent selection of beer, including some great IPAs. The food was outstanding, best fish and chips I’ve had in a while and portion was huge! Bartender was super friendly and there was even an Irish band playing, great atmosphere.
Had a great time here for St Patrick’s Day! Drinks are so well priced! Food seems a little expensive, but the portions are huge! Fish and Chips $20 but definitely feeds 2 people! Freshly fried I loved it!
Havent eaten yet. Wanted a Shepards pie and this place is well reviewed.Showed up with one party in front of me, they were seated. I was seen and said I just wanted a Shepards pie to go. The server then didnt speak to me again until the food came by. I wasnt even offered a seat at the bar. I just stood awkwardly in the narrow entrance for like 15 minutes. There seemed to be only one guy serving. There were 6 parties seated I could see. Maybe Id be a bit more chill about it if I wasnt hungry and hadnt spent 5 hours on public transit but it was pretty wack. Also a Shepards pie is like 20.83 after tax.
Great place, food was just amazing the jalapeños cheddar croquettes are amazing . Its a must try if you stop in , service was great.
Love this place.. finally a pub that is super clean. Has the most awesome staff.. our waitress was the most kind, nice and sweetest..
Very good! Plenty of drafts to choose from. Happy hour starts at 3. Chili dog and fries, sliders, cup of chili, croquet. Loved the lamb chili, has a nice bite to it.
We come here about once a week or more! Cozy, really good service and awesome, consistent food. They have a super tasty vegan option which is hard to find at pubs!
Irish stew was great. Beer was pleasant. Little too loud for conversation..as there was a game going on and some of thr fans were getting a little too carried away.
This place is a nice and quite peaceful for a Irish fare (food and drink). Bartenders were nice especially Dylan! Cool guy and provided some tips on where NOT to go for viewing the New Years Eve fireworks. The nachos with chicken were amazing and super filling. My buddy and I could barely finish it all! Drink options were vast and I was able to have my fair share of good brews 👍🏻
The bartender and the patrons welcomed me like a local. Food was great. Beer was cold and the TVs were good for sunday football.
I’m a huge fan of Irish food and this is some of the best I’ve had in a while. The restaurant was packed at 6 on a Tuesday which was surprising. We ordered a couple of the Guinness mixes. My friend did the anchor Guinness mix which didn’t mix super well but wasn’t bad. I had a black velveteen which was good though I wish the cider was strongbow. My family orders shepherds pie, Irish stew and bangers and mash. These were all good. The soda bread was great and the bread pudding was also very good. Finally, the two waitresses were fantastic. This is some of the best service we have received in Northern California. We never had to wait for anything. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.
Great selection of beers even small is a great location for a great end of week happy hour. The place doesnt seem very fancy from the outside but Good ambience and excellent service, take in account that on Friday afternoon could be reserved due to private events
Good Irish American food. A bit cramped for space. I had fun.
The bartender was so awesome. He made some recommendations of whiskeys for me to try when he heard I like a specific type. He also shared some history on how to enjoy it! The live music was absolutely perfect. This is a great place for a laid back drink and some really nice live music while still being able to talk to your friends.
Good place to hangout and grab a drink with friends. Happy hour is only a dollar difference between regular hour.
I found this location by using Yelp and Foursquare for reviews because I was in San Francisco for work. When I got to this location it was very family-oriented. Im not necessarily saying that theyre a bunch of kids but it seemed like everybody was close and like they knew each other. The food was excellent and my drink was excellent so I had no complaints. I could tell though that the waitress thought that I was trying to complain about her when I asked for the manager. Little did she know I was actually asking for the manager so that way I can give her a compliment. Soo this should be a lesson for all the waiters, you never know what a person is going to say to the manager. I know most of the time its negative but just keep on smiling and see what happens because they could be like me. They could be giving you a wonderful compliment.
Enjoyed the food and the bar. A true San Francisco Irish Pub and on a corner!. At least 16 beers & ales on tap, all the typical Irish favorites plus some Belgian, German, Italian & American.Food was great! We had bangers & mash with traditional UK-style baked beans. And corned beef and slaw sliders. Really good soda bread - not dry. More than enough food for two to share. Good service. Street parking is difficult, but not impossible. Neighborhood is a little dicey, but watch yourself and youll be fine.
Nice Irish style dishes and beers! The service here is also wonderful!
A nice small Irish pub located discreetly on the street corner close to the University of Pacific Dental School. Decent selections from the tap and the staff were friendly. However the Guinness here did taste a little off, a bit watered down for my taste. But nevertheless, a good place for a quick drink.Side note: There is a police station down the block, keep that mind if you want to do something crazy.
Awesome friendly service! No kids!!! Great atmosphere! Real people great music and Zoe our waitress all have made this pub stop a wonderful respite on our anniversary drive. We ordered fish and chips which we split and honestly it was just great.Good fish properly coated and fried. Hit the spot. Please stop in for a pint or two youll be glad you did. Say hello to Zoe if shes there.Cheers! And have a great day!
My new favorite hang. Was in the City to watch the SC-ND game. Went to another Irish Pub first but SCs performance wasnt all that great by middle of the 2nd half. Left looking for another bar and found this place. Walk in and SC within minutes runs a punt return for a TD and on NDs next possession intercepts the ball for a PICK 6. Got to love the luck of the Irish!
This is a pretty good place for a late night beer and meal. Our party (of 3was seated quickly, even though we shoulder up on slate on a busy Friday night. The wait staff was super helpful and attentive. The beer list was decent and they recommended an Irish beer I had not yet tried - Smithwicks - which I can now recommend. Our meals arrived quickly. I have dairy allergies. They served my burger with no bread or cheese as requested. The night we were there, a musician was playing rock classics and a few originals. He was very good and some of the crowd was into him, but you were still able to talk to the people you were with.
A great Irish pub with a great ambiance. The beer selection is solid and their menu has everything you would hope for in a place like this. I got the fish and chips. While it wasnt mind blowing, it was totally fine and paired well with the Big Daddy IPA. I can again and tried the soup and it was also totally fine. So while their food isnt mind blowing the fun environment and great beer totally makes up for it. Ill comes again next time Im in town!
We went here on a whim after my wife got out of a meeting right near this bar. Cool decor the beers were cold. My wife and I both ate here. I had the fish and chips, naturally, with it being an Irish Bar, I had to try them. They were very good, the beer batter makes this plate of fish and chips, almost bite size pieces of fish. My wife had the chicken nachos. She was very impressed with the presentation of the plate and the freshness of the chicken. Over all, if I lived in the neighborhood where this bar resides I would be there twice a week. I can only think that is would be a great place to go to for St Patricks day.
