We enjoyed a tasty lunch of chicken salad, soup, and pasta salad. They get very busy for lunch and parking can be tricky, but its a popular lunch and deli spot. Be sure to check out the deli and dessert selections.

One of Louisvilles best restaurants! I had the opportunity to enjoy lunch again today at the Cheddar Box Café. The food is always fresh and many wonderful flavors. The best part of our lunch was the staff, in both the café and the deli. The are very friendly and helpful. If you go be sure and try the cornbread salad and the tomato artichoke soup. We also stopped by the deli to take a few favorites home. Today we grabbed a piece of strawberry cake. Delightful.

Their food has always been delicious.

Despite being one of the busiest places in Middletown during the lunch hour, they have an efficient and fairly quick process to serve you for carryout orders. But the thing that we appreciate the most is that they never serve you with anything less than a sincere smile. This place is clean, well-run, and has the best food of anywhere Ive been.

I was in the neighborhood stopped in. What I got was great . I prefer the one on Shelbyville road they have l larger selection. I always get a slice of one of their Great cakes.

Thank goodness I dont live close to the Cheddar Box Cafe, because I would eat there for every meal. Dont be alarmed when the parking lot is full and you cant find a space, just be patient because its worth the wait - keep driving around looking for a spot. I dropped in today and got meals for several days, like a huge portion of delicious Lasagna, the best honey pecan chicken salad youll ever have, and Cheesy Stuffed Chicken and Chicken Almond Crunch are my favorites. Times are tough with staffing, and you couldnt tell it today by the quick and friendly service. Even if you have to wait a few minutes - its well worth the wait. I have never had a bad experience here. You are missing out if you havent tried this amazing spot and of course - the Cheddar Pecan Torte! I guarantee youll love it or Ill eat whatever you order. This is a top 20 food spot in the state and possibly the region!

Great lunch venue. Had constant traffic. Food was typical, no surprises. Great deli side, had fun options to bring home.

It is rare that you find a restaurant where the food is so good that you begin plotting when you will visit next before you leave. Everything is delicious from the pies to the salads to the quiche to the sandwiches... EVERYTHING. The locals know, this is the place to eat.

Love the trio where you can get 3 different salads. Their chicken salad is especially good. I would have loved to try their Carrot Cake but they were all out. Another day.

Small, quaint restaurant. Walk-ins only. Short wait time. Tables only, no booths. Fast, friendly service. Lunch only w/ delicious options. Best BLT Ive ever eaten. Attached deli, also having scrumptious desserts worth taking out. We usually take home a cold portion of lasagna for a shareable, evening meal. A single, one-toilet restroom. No alcohol. Parking can be a challenge. We still enjoy it often.

Weve had lunch at the Cheddar Box Cafe many times. During the epidemic lock-down, we were wanting something new for dinner. We got the Brie & Cranberry Stuffed Chicken and the Grilled Chicken Black Bean Burrito. Both were absolutely delicious and we will be getting these again.

The Cheddar Box Cafe has excellent food and I can’t say enough about their employees. They are professional and have that Southern manners that you expect when visiting Louisville, Kentucky. If ever you pass thru you must go to Cheddar Box Cafe.

This place is already awesome! But what happened today I will never forget. I go here at least once a week or more because they always have delicious, tasty, fresh, new and fun things from lunch to dessert! Just saw this “Chutney Bacon Toast” today for example (pic). The staff is so friendly and inviting! Speaking of, another co-worker came up to me and said, Megan who sees me frequently, told me that this week part of a gift to give back is each employee is allowed to give gift a meal to a customer of their choice. I couldn’t believe it when they told me my meal was FREE! It truly made me feel really good! I always give to anyone and everyone whenever I can in anyway I can and to receive it back was very touching! Thank you again so much staff at the Cheddar Box Cafe and Megan! Happy holidays! The best chicken salad ever!! I also can never resist the cheddar pecan torte. I have been a customer for many years and will continue to be. For carryout, dine in, catering, this place does it all.

The food is a solid 5. The service wasnt exactly bad, but it wasnt good either. We arrived just at the beginning of lunch. My mom got her soup right away. We watched 3 tables that came in after us order & get their food before managing to get our servers attention & my sandwich. Im sure it had NOTHING to do with the fact that I look nothing like the regular clientele...We were going to get desserts to go, but the deli side was backed up & guests were cranky, so we skipped it. Too bad- the honey almond cheesecake looked divine!

Overpriced and not attentive to customers. Our phone ahead order was acknowledged as recived on arrival, but had been set aside without processing so we had to wait as if it was a new walk in. Parking in the shared lot is non existent. Definitely not worth the effort.

I have heard great things about this place and finally got this chance to try it out! Delicious food, friendly service and a clean, cute dining area. It was busy but they were quick without rushing us. I will be back.

One of my favorite places for lunch - carryout if Im alone or eat-in if with someone else. Ive been coming here for years and the food has continuously been top-notch. Service is good too, especially considering the lunch crowds & their limited space. Prices are not cheap but the food is worth it!

The food here is absolutely amazing. I just love their derby pasta salad. Everything I’ve ever eaten from here was great, and it’s one of my favorite lunch spots.

My second visit. Really enjoy, this cafe. Fresh and tasty selection on the menu, with some great takes on some traditional dishes. Gourmet to go also available. Dont leave without dessert, you will regret it, if you do.

Cute place to go eat lunch. Food is super fresh and very good, but service is a bit scattered. The hostess sat us and took our drink orders and then went back to seating people. There were two servers that kept coming to take our drink orders and it wasnt until we had sat there for a few minutes that they worked out who would be our server. It would have gotten 5 stars if the service was better.

I havent been to Cheddar Box in along time. I will definitely go back again soon. I had Tomato,Basil& Artichoke Soup and Honey Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! The service was wonderful too!

My girlfriend and I each got a sandwich and each found them fine. There was nothing wrong with them but they were exactly the type of sandwich youd make at home. Which for sandwiches costing $8-$9 is not great.My girlfriend also found the staff not very organized. The food wasnt ready when she got there (which was no problem as the order had just been placed quickly beforehandbut then she sat there for a while and eventually asked someone if the bag on the counter was for her as no one had mentioned anything, they just placed it there and walked away.Perhaps some of the food other than the sandwiches is stellar, but Im not sure were going to find out.

Food was amazing but way too crowded! I am taking Derby into consideration here, but it felt like we waited forever for the food. Also we had 6 people in our group so it was hard to find a table that fit us all. The place is great for a morning meeting spot, a quick cup of coffee and breakfast or a lunch. Id rather do the takeout option for a group. Thats all I had a problem with. Everything else was amazing.

Quick to be seated, even during lunch hours. Waitress was prompt and friendly and most importantly the food was delicious. I had the BLT and it was loaded with bacon. I got a side of the pimento cheese which I ate with my Sun Chips. Will definitely be back soon.

Recommended by a very friendly shop owner we were delighted by the service and the food. Since we were visiting its nice to have a local share a great place to eat with us. Yummy and Goooood are accurate and the artichoke soup was to die for. A wait to be seated? Yup and would wait again. I wish we had a Cheddar Box Cafe in Denver.

Nice little boutique cafe/bakery. I got a chicken salad sandwich on marble rye. They have a few choices of chicken salad and I had a sweet tooth. It was VERY good and the portion was sufficient. We popped over to the little bakery part for dessert. Very nice.

Absolutely love this place! Me and my family have been coming here for atleast 15 years! Never disappointed with the food or atmosphere. Perfect little deli side for a quick in and out visit or restaurant side for a sit down lunch. If you haven’t been you’re missing out!

Love this cafe!! The Benedictine is my absolute favorite sandwich here; the tomato basil soup is wonderful; the cornbread salad is incredible, and they serve delicious desserts!! One of my favorite lunch spots!!

Theyve got great salads, sandwiches, and desserts. While they only serve lunch, theyve got a deli counter where you can order your food to go if its after lunch. I highly recommend the cakes, breakfast quiché, and the cheese torte.

Super service - Mister Calvin very helpful waiter! Stopped in after tour Churchill Downs very informative and the cafe looked very inviting and comfortable place to take a short break. Salads were very generous in portions and was very good. We tried an appetizer of breaded wonton Kentucky Ham was interesting warm and good too. The Derby pie was good...

This is a favorite stop for me. They make me the best Arnold Palmers in a big Styrofoam cup to go when Im ready to head out. Food is great & always a crowd at lunch. Everything is great & fresh. Desserts are heavenly. Cheese dips and spreads are great to order for parties. Portions are big which makes it great for sharing. Table service seating and order off the menu or deli style service. Both options are great but more of a variety on Deli side.

The food here is fantastic, but please try to make it more clear online of the menu difference between The Cheddar Box and The Cheddar Box Cafe. Our office wanted lunch take out, but when we called one number we were told to call a different number, and when we called it, the selections we wanted werent available. My staff got frustrated and ended up calling elsewhere.
