509 Charles St, North Perth WA 6006, Australia, Perth
Smart, contemporary joint, offering pub meals, plus comedy, trivia and big names in live music.
Went there for dinner and they served up the best scotch fillet that I have ever had nice and tender and cooked to perfection.
Good venue for bands fast drink service
Went there as nd they threatened to call the police because I wanted to take a pizza in. The bouncer threatened to call the police. Dont go there if you are a person of colour.
Great deals in bottle shop and open late 👌
Had the best night..The performance was dope..Tina Turner was Stunning,Wayne(Tommade it exciting
dont have enough screaming Jets tickets for sale
One of the last great pubs in Perth. For live music.
Always a joy on "blues" night, always an extended relief that their bottle shop service is open until 12pm ON A SUNDAY ~ god send 🙏 for off the cuff dinner parties, Sunday sports (if they win that is), and, oh no its 10 to 7!! We missed the deadline 😭😅 but no. Expect to pay extra ♥️🌹
Really enjoyed the live gig! Will be back
I had an awesome time with my friends
Best venue for live music!
Visited for a concert in the "jazz hall"The pub itself is quite nice, decent prices, reasonable range of drinks on offerFriendly staff and efficient enough to prevent large lines
Great food and the band (angleswere fantastic
Good ole charles, same as it ever was, great location, lots of 60yos go there now, but great music, staff.
Awesome Venue..Absolutely Loved PROUD MARY Tribute Show..Cant wait til they come back there...
Great venue. Awesome night of the Blues.
Tonight we went to listen to a CCR tribute band at The Charles Hotel. Dinner was alright. After that we ended up standing in a queue for 30 minutes before slowly entering the venue to end up standing inside, there wasn’t a single spare chair! I wonder what we payed for? There were a couple of acts as fillers that were so out of touch with a proper blues bar that we left early. Bloody boring night.
Great place to see a pub band.Easily accessible by Transperth buses.
Ridiculous rule about straight spirits, I dont want a huge glass of coke just my jd on ice, ffs Im not 18yo.
So good to see live bands again .
I went to the Angels here with my brother after one of the worst weeks of our lives we had to bury one of our best friends someone we had known all our lives my brother was a pall bearer and had to lower the coffin manually I did the eulogy it was a terrible time my brother was exhausted and half asleep he had hardly had anything to drink he tried to help a guy with epilepsy and his girlfriend and was kicked out they did not speak with him and ask any questions just kicked him out I spoke to him outside and he told me what happened 😢 Im feeling devastated for my brother when some empathy could have been the best option they decided to kick him out he had not caused any harm or damage he was tired from a rough week
As old as this pub is (hell I worked there 30years agoit is still full of atmosphere and good times.
Actual bar was closed. Drive thru was open and open until late. Good service, friendly and reasonable prices. Thanks
Havent been here in such a long time missed out on seeing cold chisel on my girlfriends birthday last year. Going to try again and see tribute band Queen,Madonna and more on the 18th June. Last year my friends had such a wonderful time. Im praying I dont get sick.
Reopened since the restrictions been lifted. Meals still good but increased in price. Staff still as pleasant as always. Comfy couches have been removed sadly. Same old clientele. Always liked the place.Sadly was there on 09 May 2022. Meals advertised. Female bar staff member gave a untruthful reason of why no meals. Then continued to whinge about staffing levels. It was embarrassing to witness.
Always live music by the best musos in town. Cadd Morris. Thanks 😊
Was nice & quite for a change. Good meals and a couple 🍻 beers.
Just a good honest pub and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Love that they still put on music and shows.
Very good atmosphere cheap pints and loyal staff love this taven hard to find decent pubs these days
Looking for an iconic 70s style pub( modifiedwith still the same ole feel of yesterday, look no further. Live bands, strip shows good cuisine...I love this place...come by
Always a great night at the Charles Blues Club, fabulous patronage food and of course the music
Hadnt been here since the 90s! The place has clearly been updated over the years, but still felt very much like the Charles of my youth. Staff were pleasant and while the queue for drinks was a bit long, it wasnt terrible.Great venue for live music that has clearly stood the test of time.
The Charles Hotel in my experience is a great venue for lunch. The staff are friendly and efficient. (Well done CourtneyDrink and food prices are very reasonable.
Outdated, $$$, U ll be DEAF!If ur after dinning out its ok place but theres better. If ur after life music events, its a good place but management has to be deaf cos if u keep going to this place u will definitely end up deaf, small stage and outback bar area that doesnt handle the amount of speakers they installed, the stage area , dance floor, outback bar & toilets are OUTDATED & DISGUSTING. Music is TOOOO SUPERRR LOUD that u ll end up having trouble hearing after u attend one live band over there. Expect to pay around $60 per person only for live music event plus 2 regular drinks which isnt cheap so they can actually fix the place little bit. And Im quite sure that the guys who sit at the back operating the events suffer hearing loss, thats why they dont feel that this size of stage area doesnt handle the capacity of this superrrrrr loud speakers they installed around. Ohh...one last thing, they sell ear plugs for $2 which was funny to see as obviously some patrons cant handle the super loud noise!
Every time I visit I feel so welcome. My last visit was for my B-I-Ls wake and they did an absolutely brilliant job. They also have great entertainment from everywhere very special place. Staff treat you like family whether it is your first or hundredth and first visit. Very highly recommended
A girlfriend of mine and some friends went to see the Fleetwood mac and the Eagles tribute bands and we had a fantastic night with no dramas or aggravation and awesome music with equally awesome like minded people. I would recommend this pub to anyone and everyone, just a great night out had by all. Thanks to the Charles Hotel for a well organised gig. Well be back!
Although popular its certainly not the most prestigious location. The night I was there, there was a celebration of 50s 60s and 70s music. The music itself was way too loud and even with earplugs I still suffered a massive headache. The staff were friendly and helpful but the place could sure do with some serious renovations to make it look more modern and relevant
Old, not so charming venue. Toilets need a facelift urgently. New seats would be a good start. Glasses left on tables whole time there 5 hours. Event itself was alright. Lots of impaired vision seats/tables. Be aware if b looking to see bands there.
Local pub with good size meals.Cold beers place is looking very tired and needs a big Reno.Agree with previous reviews the old dude bouncer needs a reality check very aggresive with no people skills.Must be nearing 65 and only knows how to tell be rude and swear at people. As a group of locals will not be heading back there anytime soon.
Nice cold beers.Food some quite good some a bit ordinary. The old bloke security guard whos been there for years is the rudest man and most foul mouthed person ever.He simply has no manners or no know how to talk to people except going off and swearing at you.Really professional we wont be ever going back there. One day he will speak to the wrong person and gets his own back and learn how to be professional. Will be taking this up with the owner Chris.
Ordered meals for 6 got 5 reasonably quickly 6th came out after other 5 had finished despite numerous reminders to the staff and reassurances it was coming. Chef needs to remember he is in an open kitchen and when he abbuses staff customers can hear him. Same meals came out for other tables with no sign of our missing meal
Great venue ....The BEST venue to watch a band!!Bar staff throughout were prompt and courteous. If you intend to eat, order the very basics.I made the mistake of ordering the Pork belly.....BIG mistake!!Fish and chips or the parmi are the go.
Best place in Perth to go see the live bands, dance and have a fantastic time. The Pub grub is great value and excellent quality, the drinks menu is extensive and caters to all. Heaps of parking and no accessibility problems. If youre going to see a band, recommend you book a table for dinner and priority access into the venue.
Good food and a great selection of beers on tap. Occasionally they host burlesque performances for some mid-week entertainment which is a pleasant experience. The stage area is cash only though so be sure to cash up before you go in. Often have quiz nights too, so check out their socials for details.
Pick a night when you will enjoy the live music and reasonable price beer , or go because its for a good cause, IE, cystic fibrosis fund raising event. Good fun.
Ive been twice now. Last nights music was awesome. Just wish there was somewhere to sit. Also was amazed you couldnt sit outside in the beer garden as it was so hot and needed some fresh air and a seat.
Great atmosphere AC/DC bon but not forgottenFantastic night outHeaps of parking
Great place.. Amazing Pizza!!!Blue cheese sauce for the chicken wing, we can taste the blue cheese tho..But overall definitely will come back..Only 1 girl working today Sunday, 1 April 2018 at 2pm..Shes an awesome staff.. shes done everything by herself.. fast.. friendly and amazing..DEFINITELY WILL COME BACK 😍😍😍
The meal was excellent, great taste, portions and value. The service was friendly and quick for both food and beverages. A great intimate live band venue with good name acts and great priced tickets. Plenty of free parking, easy to get out once the show is over. One of the best venues in Perth. Love a show at the Charles. Thanks for giving us great live music.
Very local and good food pub.You can always will see the locals in same spot
