This funky-chic hotel in South Beach is a block from the ocean and a 10-minute walk from the shops and cafes of Lincoln Road mall.Modern accommodations range from cozy rooms with signature red-and-white decor to larger quarters with work desks and pull-out couches. All have free Wi-Fi, 300-thread-count Belgian sheets and goose-down comforters and pillows.Amenities include 2 pools (1 on the roof, 1 surrounded by bamboo), 2 beach lounge chairs daily, a nightly cocktail hour, a Zen garden, loaner bikes and a free airport shuttle. There are several on-site dining options, including an eclectic Asian bistro and hip bars.
This is not even a hotel, really. This whatever you call it was the worst place Ive ever been. Dirty corridors, a disgusting bathroom, awful shower are a few to name. No matter what time of the day, the front desk doesnt answer the phone. We received no room service despite putting the sign on the door. We requested a maintenance service as the shower was splashing water everywhere, even after a 5 min shower, the whole bathroom was wet or, better to say, flooded! The room was nothing like the photo gallery. The staff didnt care, not even pretending they cared to help.
Horrible horrible experience. This hotel is cat fish when you see the outside area and the lobby you would think it was a nice classy hotel. You would think you found such a good deal to be just one block away from south beach… BUT it’s a scam literally the rooms are disgusting and super tiny. Literally it’s just a room with a bed unlike any hotel or motel I’ve ever seen. The whole entire property is small like a little European place but it has style but really it’s a raggedy 1 star motel. I rather pay more to have a comfortable night sleep. The bathroom was dirty shower nasty felt like I was still dirty. Towels and cloths dirty bugs crawling all in my room on the AC the night stand and in the bathroom. My cousin literally slept in the lobby because she was so uncomfortable. One night was bad enough please be aware of this hotel rooms are not worth the price unless you have no other choice
No hot water. Heard other guests complaining at the front desk about it too. Honestly pretty frustrated about taking cold showers for two days. I’ll take this review down if the hotel offers a partial refund due to hot water malfunctions.Secondly, management should check the outlet in the closet area. It is so dangerous to leave electrical outlets popped out like that. Huge code violation and for an upgraded room not impressed. Better to spend the extra $100 to stay somewhere else.The only reason i gave this hotel an extra star is because of the restaurant next door called Taco Taco. Great mahi tacos.
Stayed here in April 2022. Came in at 4am to a dirty hotel room, clumps of hair on the pillows, dirty floors, garbage on the bathroom floors. Complained to the front desk every morning and was assured each time that the room would be cleaned that day. never got cleaned. reached out multiple times to management via phone and email, and never was resolved. No refund, no cleaning, no correspondence. there was a list at the front desk of multiple complaints similar. Met the girl staying down the hall and had the same complaint. still by her last day, her room was still not cleaned.
The hotel was nice and clean! Me and my husband were there for 4 days and we really enjoyed our stay! It was right in the middle of everything! Very walkable to everything. The pool was nice and simple and cabanas but our favorite part was laying out on top of the rooftop lounge chairs over looking the buildings and the night sky! We would definitely come back to stay here!
We booked this hotel because it was close to the convention center and the beach. Our two-day stay was OK but not perfect.1. They gave us a room on first floor overlooking the outdoors cafe. Therefore, to keep our privacy, we could not really open the curtains.2. The handle on the faucet was broken.3.The safe did not work. Nobody came to fix it despite notifying front desk.4.There was weird smell in the room.5. The carpet outside the room was totally worn out.6.Servers at Maxine’s Cafe were rude. This is because the restaurant adds service charge to the check, and so reduces incentive for the staff to earn their tips.7. The front desk clerks were polite, friendly, and helpful during check-in as well as check-out.8. Evening dinner at Maxines was quite tasty.
After waiting 30 minutes because our room door wouldn’t open after checking in we couldn’t be room is disarray. The floor was covered in drywall and the bathroom had been used by maintenance. The front desk rep offered a cleaning that never happened. No other rooms were available so we had to go to the front desk anytime we needed to access our room. On day I stayed at the front desk for about an hour while they tried to figure something out. We were told our room lock had been fixed and we were given 2 new keys. When we got to our room- it still didn’t work! I wouldn’t ever stay here again, not worth the headache.
The hotel isn’t terrible. The hotel exterior and lobby is nice. Cozy to sit outside and the lobby area. The staff was very nice. Although they may have not had everything right when needed ( such as toilet tissue, towels etcsometimes it took a minute but they still were trying to be helpful. Valet service was good too. Special shout out to Tomic at the door. His energy was always welcoming and he even had recommendations for nearby restaurants. I was confused by the pool area. Which didn’t look like pictures I saw. Overall if you’re young and need a place to crash while in Miami, this may work for you. I was with a group trip but if I had to pick on my own this wouldn’t be an option for me
The Catalina was nothing less than AMAZING! The hotel room was very clean, elegant, and comfy to say the least. Above all else, the staff was super friendly and beyond accommodating. Not only do a recommend but I will also be back soon!! 5 stars ! Thank you so much Michael for over extending yourself, we’re truly satisfied!
I am not someone who needs a fancy hotel. I just strive to find clean, safe, comfy, with good service for a reasonable price. This facility failed on all counts. The desk staff was aloof, the manager was dismissive and rude. The hotel was dirty and parts were dilapidated. The floors were slanted at different angles, the flooring broken, the carpet filthy, the commode ran all night and squeeled as water ran. It was truly a horrible experience. Do not believe the website - this is a one star hotel at best.
The pictures were very deceiving. I definitely thought it was a nicer place. Maybe it was just the side we stayed in which was over Maxine’s. The rooms has a weird smell and I don’t think very clean. Definitely not what I expected. I also killed a VERY large roach the size of my adult finger in the hallway. I don’t think this was worth the money we paid. The staff was very nice and friendly but not a clean place.
This is hotel is very dirty and not clean. The service is the worst. Right when you walk into the building there is a strong Oder of cigarettes and smoke. The floors are dirty and sticky and there is dirt everywhere. They also do not provide parking like listed on the website. DO NOT make the mistake of booking a room here you will regret it a lot. Save your money and get a better rated hotel room. THE WORST PLACE EVER!!!
Our stay was horrible this place needs a make over! Our fridge was dirty with moldy drinks, room service never came the next morning to clean our room or give us towels and when I called room service no one answered but there was always at least 5 people standing at the front desk everyday. The carpet throughout the place made it smell like mildew. The pool could use a cleaning too. For the amount of money we paid it could’ve been better. The website pics make it look beautiful but it’s definitely not! To anyone that had a great experience kudos to you!
The worst hotel that I’ve ever stayed at! Where do I start? The beds were filthy, linen was dirty the bathroom had mold all around the shower, holes in the bathroom wall the floor was coming apart, no towels or washcloths just a dirty disgusting hotel. I don’t know how this place can even pass an inspection. The health department needs to come in there and shut this place DOWN! This place has not been newly renovated so don’t believe that as they have it listed on their website. What also baffled me was the way one of the cleaning staff was mopping the floor, she actually had a stick with a towel tied to the bottom of it mopping the floor.This place is a joke. My husband actually had flowers sent to the hotel which they were supposed to give to me when I checked in and I didn’t receive them, he actually had to ruin the surprise and ask me if I received the package that he had sent to me. I went over to the front desk and asked about my package and it took them about 40 minutes to find my package. The staff were rude and incompetent. I checked out of this place early and was still charged as if I stayed the entire time. I’m currently in the process of trying to get refunded and no one will respond to any of my emails therefore I’m going through my bank. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere! Also the rooms are so tiny and in actuality can only fit 1 person. You’ve been warned! Don’t Book here!!!!
This place is a disaster. There was sand, hair, stains on the sheets and a broken bed in the room. The minibar fridge was broken and items appeared to be thrown around and the worst was yet to come. Then came the roaches and bugs. I stayed approximately 3 hours and decided this was not something I could tolerate. I asked for a different room and the front desk said they were full and to ask tomorrow for a cleaner room........ Ive called and emailed numerous times as I had to leave and find a new hotel and have yet to get a response from either. This is a disgusting hotel and you should NOT stay here.
I just stayed at this hotel February 2022 and this was by far one of the worst decisions ever! I normally wouldn’t leave a bad review, but I really wanted to voice my concerns and warn anyone looking to book this hotel. The rating scale really need to have a 0 star rating option!The front desk staff is the worst. I called the phone 18 times to get checkin info and not once got a person on the line. One of the 18 calls was actually answered, but disconnected as soon as I said hello. The room was definitely older, even with the “new updates” and I put that in quotes because the updates weren’t good. The leather in the headboard of the bed was torn in several places and taped back together. The pillows had dirt or old makeup stains on them. The shower had cracked title with rust stains on them. The mirror in the shower was also cracked and rusty. The cleaners put three bottles of shampoo out instead of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The mini bar was dirty and had dust everywhere. Oh and to top it all off, my boyfriend found actual live roaches hiding behind the TV stand. He looked because he saw one crawling from behind it. This all happened at 1:30am and we alerted the front desk agent and he didn’t do anything. He only told us that the hotel was fully booked so he couldn’t move us. We asked to speak to the manger, but he was never available, even after the front desk agent told us what time he would be in the next morning. He also never got back to us when several messages were left requesting to speak with him about the fact that we had roaches and refused to stay there for the remainder of our vacation. We also requested a refund for the remaining days we booked, but decided not to stay another night due to the living conditions. As of today, we still haven’t gotten a refund which was around $900!
I would give it negative 5 stars if I could. Where to begin? The hotel is dirty and gross. As in trash always in hallways and room feels unclean. I got off the elevator one day to find chicken nuggets laying all over the floor. The bathroom looked like something from a crack house - old mirrors in the shower, mismatched tile. I had to walk through a dining room to get to the crazy slow elevator to access my room. Happy hour is a joke - crazy long line for a sad thimble of a drink. Bartenders couldnt care less. Hotel is noisy at all hours. Hotel fee - yes, this fleabag crack den charges an "amenity fee" is more than advertised. Check in was overly time consuming. Dont EVER expect an answer if you call the front desk. Like ever. Which brings me to my current situation. Three days after I left I was apparently charged $70.31 for items from the minibar. Heres the catch - I DIDNT HAVE A MINIBAR! Ive called, Ive emailed the manager, Ive emailed reservations and Ive reached out to the parent company southbeachgroup.com (which apparently owns a ton of Miami Beach hotels - are they all this AWFUL!?to no avail. My advice: STEER CLEAR!
