Great local, traditional pub.
Lovely traditional pub with a modern feel, friendly staff great selection of drinks. Great atmosphere and fab outside space and parking! Fab pub
Open Mic night is good fun with a mix of music and song. A very friendly pub and nice atmosphere.
Very cosy traditional pub situated on the edge of town.
Staff very friendly. Make you feel welcome
Great choice of drinks and friendly staff
What can I say- this pub is the pinnacle of English pub culture. The heat lamps, the nice staff, the... Interesting clientele. 10/10 my kids love it too 🤸♀️🌟Ó╭╮Ò
Ah I love this pub!!! Only been going in there for afew months but already the locals recognise us. A very warm an friendly atmosphere. Had Sunday lunch afew months ago an all fresh ingredients nothing frozen!!!! Couldnt recommend more...
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good service. The cider was particularly tasty!
Lovely pub with friendly locals and staff. Popping back later to take in the open mic!
Lovely bar staff, good beer and a wonderful atmosphere that has lasted the test of time. Highly recommended.
Great friendly pub and a great service and lots of choose.
A great proper boozer. Great customers, mostly, haha, great staff and great beer. The garden is pretty good too.
Good choice of beers. Pub in a nice area of Bedford, with other nice pubs nearby as well.
Great beer from an excellent host. Well worth a visit.
Great place have not been for ages. Entertainment 1st class. Easter Sunday
Great beer, live music and new landlady ;x
Great pub great atmosphere, lovely staff
Were regulars here and its a really great pub, with friendly staff and the choice of beer was spot on. Love that theyve teamed up with other local businesses to supply food too.
My wife and I have been in here a few times now and its a lovely little pub with welcoming staff and good Guinness and ales..👍
Friendly staff good selection of Charles Wells ales a lovely pub
Really friendly staff and cosy place for drink. Thankyou for making us feel welcome.
Went on the Irish folk night to remind us of family roots and holidays. Was just like being back in Dads village pub with the locals playing away except cleaner and tidier. A great night and will be making a point of going again. They served a lovely pint of Guinness. A warm and friendly pub worth a visit.
Best Guinness in town. Sometimes you might need to call Carlos to finish your pint but its worth the banter.
Decent cosy pub with a wide selection of well-kept real ale. Is it the most expensive pub in Bedford though (basic bitter £4.40)?Yes I think it probably is..
Sat in the garden small but nice. The bar staff were friendly would recommend for a quiet drink. Visited during the day.
Really nice pub with an outdoor space; we had a few beers (the ale selection is not the best in Bedford but has good optionsand enjoyed our time there. The staff were very friendly
Imagine a rowdy teenager coming in and placing a muddy pair of football boots on the bar. The barman would be forgiven for tutting and saying Get the boots of the bar with a little contempt. Yes?Now a lone, properly masked and moderately well dressed 50 odd year old walks in, quietly places a small clean Next carrier bag on the bar whilst selecting the tipple of choice and gets exactly the same contemptuous tone Get the bag off the bar. All that was missing was the word sonny.I left.Call me old fashioned, but that is not the respect to show a customer or, frankly, a human.I used to go there a lot.
Great pub, warm and welcoming staff, COVID19 restrictions well managed. Great selection of beers and food!
Popped in for a pre dinner drink for Santanellios next door (which you have delivered to the pub). The staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere chilled and relaxed. Its an traditional old fashioned pub in the best of ways and only wish there was a pub like it where I live. Good range of beer on tap from local breweries.
Lovely public house cosy atmosphere the room was basic but more than happy as only overnight stay breakfast really nice as well a thank you to all the staff who made us feel welcome
Had an Xmas work meal here and it was great. Food was brilliant and service great. Everybody was really happy with the evening. As a pub it can get quite crammed on usual Friday/Saturday night but then its only a small pub. Good choice of beers on tap and prices reasonable
One of the best pubs in Bedford. They have occasional live music, great food at sensible prices, and two cosy bar areas, one for enjoying your meal. Not the best service unfortunately, and I ordered a pot of tea that was entirely forgotten about by the barmaid. Good selection of real ales. The Castle feels like a country pub, which is very unusual in Bedford. Food hygiene rating is 4 out of 5.
We love the Castle... we have had many lovely meals there and decided to have my Mums send off there. The buffet they laid on was so lovely and excellent value for money.Joe and Jenny couldnt have been more helpful. We would highly recommend the Castle.
Nice pub with a decent range of ales, friendly locals and good service, worth a visit if youre in Bedford.
A little hidden gem. The room was clean and well presented if a little dated and the pub itself was lovely. Good beer on tap and the beer garden was spot on
May as well get the review in.The Chefs homemade pie of the day is scrumptious. Great value for money. Please give it a try. No room for dessert!!!!!!Good atmosphere. Helpful staff. One of the better Bedford pubs.
Good for live music and great tasting ales. Quick and pleasant service and a well kept pint of Guinness.
Booked for lunch with friends before going to the rugby as conveniently located for Bedford Blues ground. I was disappointed by the haloumi salad I ordered and have provided the manager with feedback so he can address quality & quantity issue - not a patch on the roasted veg salad that used to be on the menu. Friends happy with the burgers and chickpea curry they ordered. Good selection of beers on offer and nice friendly atmosphere.
Outstanding traditional pub. Lovely atmosphere, great food and prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend
If you like real ale, come here, its very well kept and you get an excellent pint. Friendly staff, great food and accommodation too. 16th century inn.
Great food as always, superb prompt friendly service. Would highly recommend to any one who enjoys a friendly pub with excellent food . 5*
This pub is great. Well Kept ales, and brilliant food, and the manager , Roland is a really nice guy and doesnt put you under any pressure at all to drink up when time is called. Great pub, comfortable accommodation, and quality food and beer. The Directors Bitter is exceptionally excellent.
Stuck in the dark ages.Apparently its still a public house that tolerates men at 50 plus year of age commenting on womens breasts. As they are locals, its fine to observe and judge whether youre wifes, mums, daughters body is up to scratch and what they would like to do to them. When a complaint was raised, we were asked to leave as apparently we had been at the river festival all day and had too much too drink. Lol. They are lucky we spent as much money as we did and the menu is quite standard and overpriced.
We stopped in for a quick lunch with the kids and really enjoyed it. The burgers are huge and good quality as was the proper pie with pastry bottom not one of those fake dish of meat and puff pastry lid pies. Cheesy chips are also excellent so what’s not to love?
Nice and pleasant pub, food good, but wish they did more Gluten Free options.
Stopped by for a quick drink and a snack on Boxing day. Friendly service and good food at reasonable prices.I would recommend anyone to come to this delightful pub for traditional atmosphere and well presented food.
Went to birthday party. First impression, very friendly and helpful staff. Our meal was superb. Warm atmosphere, reasonable prices. Definitely coming back
A group of 6 of us went to the Castle for our Christmas get together and had a lovely time. Food and service excellent as was the choice available. Thank you for a lovely evening, well definitely be back.
Stayed over in the family room while at a friends wedding nearby. Beautiful accomodation finished to a high standard. Landlord was friendly and accomodating, letting us be flexible with checking in and out times. The pub looked great, but we didnt get time for a drink that weekend, very busy. Thoroughly professional yet warm and welcoming, highly recommended.
