The Cable Car Puerto Plata - Mountain cable car in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic
Careful with people who take pictures of you. They dont charge but "invite" you to buy at there store. I didnt mind much because I liked the pictures but it was forceful.
Arriving there, one official guide José approached us and said that there was a queue for more than 1 hour and recommend us to go with our car. He would come with us and guide us there for 25 dollars. We trusted him as he was wearing the guides uniform of the city. We went to the cristo, on top of the hill he offered him to take us pictures and by bringing him back to the cable car station, we paid him in pesos for around 28 dollars and told him to keep the change and then he said you need to give me 100 more for taking us pictures, with Our telephone!!! We didnt want to argue even though it was ridiculous so we have him what he asked. Then he wanted more money for his service... are we jocking??? He was trying to get more and more money from us. Stay away from the guides there. There is nothing else so important to see than the view of the city but you dont need a guide for that.
Nice to visit. Just do not freak out if it stops suddenly and starts swinging. The power goes of often and generator needs time to kick in.
Omg!!! A must do when visiting the north side of the island of DR! The only cable car in the Carribean with this elevation! There is a road to reach the peak of the mountain but the cable car is everything. It makes you appreciate the beauty of the creation! There are photo and video opportunities at every turn. The view from the car is unmatched! Do this!Shout out to the tour guide “Mama” Sandra and the ladies of the souvenir shops! Super friendly and very fairly priced!
Its the most beautiful and rewarding experience. You wont regret it. Not recommended for people scared of altitudes.
Nice View on Puerto Plata. Ticket 10$ per person
So beautiful adventure like it, one thing you dont need a guide for the trip in the park 😎
Great Experience.. The entire Park is beautiful and looks like they have taken good care of everything, from the trees, the trails and spots for photos. The view going up and down the Mountain is great as well. 😅👍👍
Great! Expect an awesome trip to the top of la loma Isabel de torres, once there you can explore the top structures and feel deep into a forest.Try going before 3pm local time, cause there will be some fog after 4pm and you will lose the awesome views of the whole Puerto Plata city from the top of the Mountain.
Loved the experience, it costs 550DOP for a round-trip ticket and one way takes about 8min. On top the view is amazing. Inside the dome beneath the Cristo statue are shops. You can also do the entire area in about an hour if you want to see everything. I highly recommend
Magic place, wonderful place...
Beautiful place; spectacular 👍
Super awesome breathe taking views
Enjoyed the ride, the view, vegetation. The contact with nature is splendid.Pleasant operator during this ride.
This is a great place to see the earth 🌎 from different angles.I have been my 4th & last time. Prefer to be on the ground. Beautiful 😍 tourist attraction
Nice view over the city of Puerto plata and his green natural environment. Discover the diversity of the vegetation on the top of the mountain. Beautiful plants and gardens. During the excursion, the explanations of the guide provide you many details about origin of the plant which make the trip more interesting. A must do by a visit in Puerto plata
This is a MUST SEE if youre in Puerto Plata! Most beautiful views Weve seen. The Teleferico, historia del Domo, Loma Ysabel de Torres was great. We decide for a guide and was very informative and welcoming guy! Highly recommended 👏
Great views, some places to see on top of the mountain, there are gift shop amd a restaurant too.Relatively cheap.Only two cable cars, long wait during peak hours.
Best experience on a Cable Car service...Puerto Plata has it; it is located on the Mountain "Isabel de Torres", south of the beautiful joyfull city of Puerto Plata...short and breath-taking aerial trip that take you to the top of the mountain, above a fortress is the statue of "Christ the Redeemer" with his open arms gives the welcome to you. As soon as you get there, you will enjoy wonderful views of the port, ocean and city, as well as a beautiful tropical forest and garden, since the mountain has been declared a Scientific Reserve for the wide variety of animal and plant species that live in it. Also, there is variety of drinks and beers that you can enjoy. Also, walking short distance you can discover hidden caves that lead to springs and streams that flow into the mountain, also a pond full of beautiful fish! While in Puerto Plata, you cant not miss the cable car, with its exotic natural beauty and extensive National Park.
About a 10 minute ride to mountain. Scenery is beautiful. Get there early before cloud cover obstructs views. Our personal tour guide provided this tip. He was right!!
Really awesome place. Get lost in the tropical rainforest and enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna. This is definitely a place Id recommend 100%
It looks great, but the cable car was closed due some work. So we had to go up the hill by car- around 20 min drive. Avoid tour guides trying to get into the car saing you wont be admitted up the hill without them.
Absolutely amazing view from the top. If youre in Puerto Plata, add this to your trip. 👍🏽
If in Puerto Plata this is a MUST DO.There is a part where it makes abig bang and it kindda stops towards yhe end.A little scary but safe. Views are awesome.Definately a great experiance.Tell them you are a local and pay less,$250 pesos round trip.
Friendly staff. Not too many people harassing tourists. The electricity went out while on the lift, which was a memorable experience 😂 ALWAYS have a hand on the handrail if possible.
Beautiful experience. Loved the view and the landscape. Just beware youre charged extra if you are not Dominican. None of their signs state this clearly but they tell told my Dominican friend that me and my son had to pay extra. Then once to the top of the mountain there are "volunteers" that will take really fun photos of you and your party with the Jesus statue free of charge. However, they then guide you to their personal shop. They have many souvenirs to sell you without price tags. They charged me $25 for 3 magnets and a rope bracelet. They charged my friend $75 for a necklace and a pair of earrings. So just beware that they will price gouge you if you arent careful. But overall it wasnt a terrible experience just kind of annoying.
Its not for the weak legged ppl lol but very beautiful views
amazing views and scenery. Avoid the guides as they cost $20USD per person (failed to mention the per person aspect when offering). Pedro was awesome though and very knowledgeable of plants and trees in the area. If you can, have your taxi wait for you (takes about 45 minutes to see everythingas the taxis were 800 pesos to get off the mountain. Our initial ride up to the cable car station was only 200 pesos so we declined and got a motorcycle taxi.
A very cool and beautiful place. Definitely worth visiting not just for the ride, but to visit the park on the top of the mountain.
Hermoso. So beautiful! The cable car ride is highly recommended! Getting to the top and enjoying the beautiful gardens is a must! There are many ramps for wheelchairs and walkers! Lots of magical paths to get lost with nature. Very cool art displays throughout. The guides are really knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. There are souvenir shops and carts to get ice cream, cold drink, or a snack. Have fun!
This is a MUST SEE if youre in Puerto Plata!! Most beautiful views Ive seen. The guide was very informative and welcoming.
Very Very cool bring hoodie or light jacket . Rain and sunshine every 15 minutes at top of the Mountain...lol Lovely place. Beautiful flowers nice to walk around. Be careful. I did not use a guide waste of money. If you take pictures under the statue near the gift shops Do not let the parks people tell you they get paid from you.
Good and steady move - gives good experience
If you are visiting Puerto Plata you should check this out. Beautiful views of the city that Jesus looks down over!
As of November 10th the cable car is closed for the next 5 months youll have to take a taxi to the top instead the views are spectacular botanical garden is awesome really good photo opportunities all over the top of the mountain
Very beautiful and relaxing. You can see amazing scenery from the top of the mountain as well as going up and down from the mountain.
This is definitely one of the places you should visit during your trip in DR, the cost is 250 dominican pesos, its amazing to discover the caves
This place offers you a whole view of Puerto Plata and it’s surrounding, well except when there are clouds around but even so you can enjoy of the beautiful nature and pure fresh air
Really cool thing to do in Puerto Plata! Safe, easy, inexpensive, short wait, gorgeous park / gardens at the top with helpful local guides who will for free help you take great funny pictures with the Christ Redeemer statue! Let them take your phone (the guys in tan shirt uniformsand theyll do great shots! Do bargain at the shops (for souvenirs, not like for a soda)
The views from up on the mountain are spectacular! Going on a clear sunny day is the best to see the blue ocean blend in with the blue sky. There are also little shops up on top of the mountain where you can buy little trinkets to remember your trip up. I just enjoyed the spectacular views of the ocean, the sky, and nature.
Cool place to spend the sunny day, we can escape the heat in the height of the mountain. There are small lagunas and many trees, plants to roam.Weekend / public holiday will be crowded so plan on weekdays or reach early. You can enjoy the local music performance while waiting for our turn. The food is available in the place so you don’t need to worry.
The view from the top is stunning. You can see all of Puerto Plata from above. I was lucky to have great visibility on the day I went, but on other days I noticed that the top of the mountain was covered in clouds, so the visibility will vary. The shops at the top were underwhelming, but there are some excellent walking paths where you can see beautiful, tropical flora.
Beautiful scenery!! Breathtaking views, the cable was completely secure when we went, the lines were also quick. A must see, when youre in Puerto Plata.
I suppose no stop on a city tour of Puerto Plata would be complete without a ride on the cable car. Views running to the top or stunning. Once we exited the cable car we took a short walk to get a better look at the Christ Redeemer statue. On our way each of us was met by some sort of guide (although I dont think they were official). Since they were dressed in a uniform, we allowed them to do what we felt was their job to take us around and take photos of us with the Statue. However, I think their real purpose was for a tip and to get you in the gift shops. Once in those shops, they were relentless it was very difficult getting away without purchasing overpriced tchotchkes. This was a very nice attraction with the exception of the guides at the top.
So worth it. Guys in green shirts are licensed tour guides that you tip what you want to. You van certainly do it with out them but our guide gave us history and information about the trees and plants. He also set us up with fun panorama photos and pics with the statues, then passed us off to a guy who took us to his gift shop. A steep walk down trail to a pond. Long line to get back on car to go down at end of the day
Cable car ride was cramped but that was okay with the views. It only took a few minutes to go up/down. The top of the mountain has several nature trails and is a must to see some beautiful green jungle. Good fun for the whole family.
Cable car waiting line was VERY long and time consuming, both downstairs and then again upstairs (You may need to "Grease the palms" in order to move faster!). However, the actual ride up was great! You may be literally jammed into the cable car like sardines, but view is well worth the wait!
The ride offers fun views and there are some fun walks to do at the top, but all the people standing around trying to help one take photos make it feel like a tourist trap and it is a drag being stuck at the top waiting to get back down. A perfect use of this attraction is a very well timed trip up and down with no waiting around in the sun and sweating.
Awesome view, theres a lot of ppl in this season and it might take some time to get though the lines but the totally worth it, avoid rainy days becasue the mountain will be really foggy.
Excellent views on a clear day. Good value for money. You can see the whole of Puerto Plata and lush green scenery as you male your way up. It is quite a long ride of 1.5 miles I believe.Do not use this if you are afraid of heights but the journey is well worth doing. At the top there is a statue of Christ The Reedemer and some beautiful botanic gardens.Remember to pack insect spray and then go off exploring the gardens. There are a few gift shops where you can buy souvenirs.
