Wooden-floored pub with covered patio, floor-to-ceiling windows, etched glass and a real fireplace.
Ghirta! The experiente in have a meal in your restaurant Is a excelente experience tô teu a taste of the London fish and the London chips. Thanck you!!!
Went to the Pub as it was close to my hotel for dinner at around 7pm. Firstly, this is a beautiful old pub with glorious period furnishings. I tried to order 4 different meals of the menu but they were all sold out. I understand that, it was busy. When, I eventually ordered the beef and ale pie, it arrived still cold and chips where soggy. I took it back to the bar and stood there with my plate in hand for what seemed like ages. Chap, took it back and apologised. When it arrived back it had been nuked to within an inch of its life, and, because of the delay getting it back to me, the soggy chips were now cold. Just not my night ; The pie itself was disappointing while flavoursome gravy I dont think I found a piece of beef in it. Come an enjoy a cold beer and the interior but eat elsewhere.
Tasty and cozy.Enjoyed my fish and chips and the husband enjoyed the butternut squash.
Pleasant atmosphere & staff. Good place for the fellas to hang out whilst the women explore Harrods up the road. Range of beers & lagers was average
Staff very accommodating on arrival. There was a group of 5 of us and we all ordered at the same time. After 4 of us had finished our food the 5th meal still did not arrive so cancelled and went elsewhere. We did mention a few times whilst waiting but no update given. Food wasnt the hottest but it took so long to come I just ate it. Toilets very dusty and need a good clean.
WALLET STOLEN, BE CAREFULGuy at the till took our order for four and didnt confirm afterwards the items. We then received two pints instead of half pints and a half chicken instead of the Sunday roast chicken. Waiting time is almost 30 minutes and food is also not great, almost no flavourPositive note, the young waitress that was really niceEdit. They also stole the wallet of my father while being there
My god the food was amazing, and the drinks were even better - best pint in London! I was served by Carla and she was really nice! Helpful and considerate especially of my elderly grandparents who need more time than most. Would definitely recommend.
Walked by on my way back to my hotel. Beautiful lighting close to everything. Fationa grated me with an awesome beer and a bag of chips! Lovely service and a warm, well lit environment for a 50 something woman traveling be herself!
Had a lovely meal celebrating my 50th anniversary with my wife. Great atmosphere with lovely waitress Carla serving us. Ong them pints were bussin styll. Would recommend.
-main serving size disappointingly small (especially since it’s advertised as “half chicken” - in reality, not much larger than quarter),-pretty ordinary flavour, though rosemary mayo was nice-not value for money, contrary to what a previous review states-dessert was inedible, refunded though yet to see in my bank account (I don’t even remember if they offered an apology),-excessive waiting time, especially given I dined mid-afternoon, and ordered dessert in advance but still had to wait ages-staff member rudely replied sarcastically to my question about table availability,-staff generally did not appear happy to be of service-no serviettes available/stocked on my table-limited range of tap beers, and staff member didn’t know what I meant when asking for a stout beer, despite asking-dubious whether this should be considered a ‘traditional English pub’I regret not asking for a refund of my main as well to be honest!
Great atmosphere and wonderful food! The bread was outstanding!! Def will come again!
The menu was so so. The food was ok, not bad but I wouldn’t go back for seconds- just not my thing. It was busy, because it’s on a busy street. Seating isn’t great. It’s squishy. Staff were friendly. Beer was not overly cold.
Great service today from Daria and Ghirta! Had the fish and chips which were delicious. Followed by shopping at Harrods👏🏻
Ghirta and Daria were our hosts and we’re so friendly, professional and helpful. A great pub experience!
Ghirta and daria were the most friendly and lovely people I have met, I have never felt so welcome and humbled by the kindness and service anyone behind a bar has ever given. What warmth and what love I have felt in this amazing bar5 stars all day without doubt
The girls put on some fantastic fresh flowers, the pub was scrupulously clean and very friendly.Although it’s a very touristy part of London, they do their best to give warm welcome as if you were in the countryside
Built in 1644, this pub is the ultimate London experience!! Ghirta makes a delicious Gin cocktail and the Manuel whipped up the biggest, tastiest order of fish and chips I’ve ever seen (and I’m from the US 🤣)
Had a lovely strawberry smash spritz made by Carla. Lovely service and the staff were very attentive.
Very nice place, friendly staff. We really appreciated the food: fish and chips, pies and a delicious dessert. We were served by Daria: really kind, friendly and efficient. We would like to come back during our future stays in London.
After finding a table in this busy busy little place we settled down and ordered our food, we were warmly welcomed by Daria who was kind and attentive, we ate lovely food and left feeling really happy ! Can recommend to anyone passing through.Shane and Melinda
Beer was ok but the Loaded Nachos were awful. I recommend using corn chips instead of the triangular stale biscuits ( or whatever it is ). If this is typical of the food standard then eat elsewhere.
Ordered food on the app, drinks, separately before, when these didn’t arrive after about 20 minutes I went to the bar, the orders placed on the app were not coming through! Staff member said they would check if food order went to kitchen, this never happened and I had to chase food after more than half an hour of waiting! Eventually food came, stead totally over done and inedible, at almost £18 I just asked for a refund and we had no time or inclination to order an alternative. Partner said his food tasted good, not much conciliation on what was supposed to be an enjoyable meal for both of us.
One of the greatest places in Cyprus! Very friendly and organized personal, brilliant food and vine! We came there last Thursday with a reservation and it was so good that we decided spontaneous on Friday night to come again. The restaurant was fully packed, but the waitress tried their best to give us a table and after 10 min we just had our first sip of vine at a beautiful table. Thank you for the nice evenings and all following!
Went in about 5pm on Thursday in August. The beer I wanted wasnt available. My wife wanted a sparkling mineral water. Theyd run out. She wanted a salad. Off. The dish I wanted was off. Service rather slow, so Ive time to write this! Shame, because its not a bad traditional pub.
This pub is a good choice for eating and drinking especially for families: in an area which is quite pricey, the food and drink here are surprisingly reasonable. It has a traditional Victorian style with a gin palace ambiance. The service has some eccentricities but is overall prompt and well intentioned. The real ales are well kept and it has a good range of craft beers and ciders too.
Everything went downhill as soon as I entered the washroom. It was dirty and disgusting. Had I gone there first I wouldnt have eaten the food or even had beer. As they say you could judge the health and quality of the kitchen with the way they maintain the bathroomThe fish and chips were good beer was fine tooHowever the chips could have been better. If these guys had maintained the bathroom Id have given em a 5 star
Not surprised to find it’s a chain. Beautiful outside but not the best experience inside. They were out of two of the three things we ordered and slow to deliver what they had. The bizarre part was watching the bartenders scrounging for silverware at unoccupied tables, ending unsuccessfully when the last table ran out.Looks authentic but it’s fake English pub. Best to try somewhere else.
After an exhausting morning taking in thr sights of London, we decided to just relax for a couple of hours over lunch. The setting is beautiful old world pub, the pies delicious and full to the brim with filling. A great place to enjoy a pinot grigio or pint with good food
My family of 5 enjoyed our lunch here. Great food, good service and cosy environment.
A great place for a pint of beer! The staff is polite and the beer selection is great.
Reasonable food, fish was huge, you have to order from the bar or use a QR code on the table. Quite loud music although to be fair we where there on a Saturday evening so its to be expected. Dog friendly pub.
Pubs dont come better than this place. Fantastic food, great beer and reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Needed to eat and saw this pub and gave it a try. I ordered the Veggie platter which was excellent. The portion was huge. My husband had a burger and a Guinness. Burgers only come well done but he enjoyed it. Staff were very nice. Helped us find a seat to be comfortable. It’s a cozy pub but a good one.
Visiting London from the States and searched for fish and chips near us... This popped up and they even had a sign at the door touting their fish and chips, so far so good... We walked in and after waiting a few minutes to be seated, ask what appear to be a manager and she said to take any table. After waiting a few more minutes, I want back to her and asked if there was table service or did we need to order at the bar... She informed me that we needed to order at the bar... Would have been nice for her to say that when we asked about the table... After a good 30 mins and seeing others around us who came in after us get their food, we asked a waitress who said the kitchen was backed up and she would check... After another 5 minutes or so, she came back and said it would a few more minutes, we told her others who ordered after us were getting their food, she went back and we finally got our food at least 45 mins after we arrived. I got the steak and ale pie which we very favorable, but the chips were cold in spite of the pie being blazing hot. There was a lettuce garnish which had a piece of brown stem (see picturemy companion had the fish and chips and while the potion size was huge, the flavor disappointed both of us. There were two ladies sitting next to us and we struck up a conversation. One lady had ordered the fish and chips and agreed it was nothing special (dont understand all the reviews raving about it, as I have had better fish and chips in the statesand the other lady ordered a salad which didnt match the description in the menu. When she complained, the manager offered a refund of the salad, but made her pay for the chips she had ordered... The manager was very rude and to me made it seem like the customer was to blame for complaining. Even if I lived in London, I wouldnt go back. Any restaurant can have a bad day, but having worked with number of restaurant this seemed to run deeper as none of the wait staff seemed very happy. I almost never give 1 stars, but this place earned theirs.
Very nice place, lovely traditional ambiance, great food, good music, lots of drink choices and friendly staff, especially Daria, she is so helpful and also she took our photos, thank you ;)
Nice pub, we liked it. Everything is in the best English traditions. Varied menu, very large portions of the dishes are quite tasty. We tried big fish and chips. Very nice waiters and atmospheric interior. I recommend.
Very friendly relaxing decor great to see
Lovely traditional English place where to have a drink and meal. A shame that my pie arrived pretty hard at the bottom and you could tell it wasnt fresh but microwaved.
Loved it. THE BEST Espresso Martini’s. You won’t regret ordering this.
I had a bit of an issue when I first went with my father and son, I left my feedback and the Manager back to me very quickly and was very understanding of my issue. She gave me, my son and Dad a complimentary meal, as a way of an an appology. Not many companies would do that. And shows that they truly care about their customers.Cant wait to come back as the atmosphere is great and the food I saw being eaten looked really good.Great team, thank you for understanding.
Location is nice right next to Harrods after some random shopping for gifts. Friend’s recommended place to try some classic fish & chips, cosy but thoughtful decors in details. Our choices of beer are both quite good, few light drinks make us feel very happy to be a Londoner and Break the Ice with new friends for sure. The crew is super efficient and very nice atmosphere, I like the back story from the pub, definitely very inspiring. Will visit again next time when I am around with my crew.
1st visit and popped in just for a drink and we we loved it, the staff were very welcoming. Would go again as the menu looked great and good value.
We stopped off here for dinner after a long day of exploring London. The pub was only a 15 minute walk from the Natural History Museum 😁 The staff were friendly and welcoming and seated us straight away. The pub was clean and covid friendly.I ordered their veggie burger for dinner, it was well presented and I think it has to be the best meat free burger I have had. I will deffinately be ordering that again when I visit a Greene King Pub in future!
The staff are so accommodating and the ale is good and reasonably priced. Food lovely and the atmosphere is proper London pub. No TVs so no yobs. Thank you
What a amazing place!!! Clean inside and outside, food just amazing and sooo tasty...fast, friendly and polite staff members, we specially loved the guy serving us, Leo. Sooo funny, sooo chatty, just amazing, we wasnt missing single thing over here!!! Milion times coming back!!! Such an amazing place for any special occasions, we literally came to celebrate friend graduation, just a lovely experience ❤!!!
Stopped by for a drink; average prices/decent but what is really attractive about the place is how well maintained it is. The “snob partition” was kept in place. Avoid the “Biltong” as they’re just selling you packaged stuff. Food looks quite delicious and appears reasonably priced; would return to sample the grub.
Quick bite to eat after shopping at Harrod’s and pleasantly surprised. Such a nice and relaxing pub and the staff was kind and attentive. The meat pie was delicious and my husbands fish n chips was tasty but mine was better. Beer was good and cold....cheers!
A great little pub on Brompton road. Plenty of beers to choose from (other drinks are unavailableGood for food, there is a dining room upstairs as well as the bar downstairs. Lovely staff and a very pleasant atmosphere. Certainly worth a visit between museums. Indeed, instead of the museums, just a thought!
One of the more decorous and traditional of the many hundreds of pubs in the area and on the Cask Marque Ale Trail.Busy, but staff were quick and kept on top of things. Ale was in excellent condition and the hot home made Scotch Eggs a lovely accompanying snack
Very good. The chili dog was ridiculously huge and tasty I guess as my daughter nearly finished it before offering a taste. Having ordered fish and chips, I declined having filled up on the tasty chips. The fish was meh. The service and barkeeps top notch in the welcome.
