Such an amazing museum! You could spend a day here, there is so much to see. The line was down the street around the corner, however it moved pretty fast. You have to go through security but this process was quick. I thoroughly enjoyed the Egyptian displays, it was so fascinating reading the information panels. There were shops and cafes as well.

I love museums. I have visited all the other museums in another countries that I have been to and British Museum is by far one of the best ones yet. It has so many collections that I think one full day is not enough to explore every corner of it. They also have great selection of books in their bookstore.

Free of charge to the public. However if you are going to be a regular customer wanting to go deep further into history, then you might want to subscribe for membership which comes with a cost. The Museum is massive with a lot to see and explore. At minimum 2 hours is needed. There is Canteen on the ground floor and on the first floor, a restaurant. Highly recommended if you are a lover of art and history.

Our third museum visit on the same day. This was always our go to museum on past visits to London. There is so much to learn and rediscover here, and we love the Assyrian and Egyptian exhibits. Also, the huge covered roof creates such a wonderful place, with the two cafe dining areas bookending the souvenir store. The reading room upstairs is also a must visit.Entrance is free but you need to book your date and time online in advance.

This mind-blowing museum has to be one of the best museums I have ever visited. From the moment you enter the classical portico entrance, you are spellbound by the vast variety of collections. We spent our visit seeing two of the most popular attractions namely the Elgin Marbles and the Egyptian collection. The glass roofed centre court is a showstopping exhibit in its own. The gift shops are top quality and there is something for everyone. The beauty of this place is that it is FREE! There is an entry charge to the periodic temporary exhibitions. Be prepared for the masses and it did get hectic at times. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon!

I always visit here several times when in London. I would rate it the best museum in the world, it certainly has one of the most extensive collections. This time there was a hieroglyphics exhibition which was truly amazing. If I lived in London I would definitely get membership to the museum, the ability to skip the queues and use the membership facilities was amazing.

Thoughts: this museum is a must visit. If you have to choose only one of the many museums in London to visit, it should be this one. The place is huge and requires a map to fully enjoy all sections, the Egyptian and Roman sections are very interesting.Time: around 3.5 hoursChildren: suitable for children, but they might get bored due to the huge size of the museum

Don’t tell The Louvre but thus far, this was my favourite museum in Europe. I was shocked and surprised at the quality of exhibits and vast array of subject matter. The British Museum did not disappoint and I highly recommend checking it out if you’ve any interest in art, culture, history or happiness. Wander the halls and take the day to explore all the amazing wonders you come across. Don’t miss the Rosetta Stone!

I really enjoyed my short visit! This is a FREE place to visit and it is amazing! However, they have travelling exhibitions that do cost a fee (buy those in advanceand depending on your interests, they are definitely worth the money!).I could spend days looking at everything and reading all the information about them in this place! But not only are the artefacts beautiful and interesting but so is the buildings architecture. So beautiful just sitting in the area with the cafe and shop and enjoying the mix of sandstone and modern architecture. Stunning! My recommendation is to go to the northern Entrance as there was hardly anyone there when I went. But I went at 3pm on a Sunday when it closes at 5pm! So definitely check it out for yourself. Two hours was not enough! There is so much to see!

The British museum is my favourite museum. If you are in London Town and you are wondering what museum is going to give you the most bang for your buck (as in worth your time - the museum is freeit’s going to be the British museum. Here are the reasons why:1. it’s so extensive and fascinating you won’t be bored.2. The staff are passionate about their work and very friendly!3. The tea rooms and restaurants are great!4. The gift shop is cool.5. It feels like you are traveling to different countries and your preconceived ideas of the world are challenged because you’ll learn about the art, culture and sophistication of countries you probably pass by in your everyday life.In short go to the British Museum kids!

What can I say about this place! Absolutely incredible exposition. I mean Ill skip the ethical part and just say that it was incredible to see all the pieces they have. Also, the restaurant at the top is really great! We had an afternoon tea with a few pastries and it was great! Highly recommend to go for at least half a day if not a full day!

This is one of those attractions that is free to the public, except special exhibitions which you may have to pay, that is a credit to the city of London. I love visiting here because not only is it a beautiful building but it is jam packed with numerous items from several periods of history including those that map the British past events along with world discoveries. There are guide books in several languages along with gifts from each area of the displays, a cafe, toilet facilities and seating areas are easy to access, clean, tidy and well maintained. There is clearly a substantial amount of material to observe, too much in my view for one visit, which is why I keep going back especially for Egyptian history. There are a number of places that you can donate and you may wish to join the membership which also helps with the financial support. A truly wonderful experience and totally recommended.

A great museum with an ocean of history, culture and art dating back to the early days of human civilization and extending to modern era. This is a museum that will take good number of hours to explore and have good understanding of the collection of historical works and items. A whole day will be suggested to tour the entire museum. There is no ticket to enter the museum, however, the souvenirs in the shops seemed expensive to me. I had a sole 3+ hours in the museum today but i will go back some day again in future to get a decent souvenir and keep in my collection.

Great place to see what the British stole from around the world. To be able to see the original Rosetta Stone (Egypt has the replica of course), was exciting for my children. Magnificent displays. Admission is free as it should be considering it’s the museum of the world artifacts. They should invest in centralized air.

Just WOW. Paradise for the curious mind. So much history, culture, mythology, education, and archeological discoveries and more packed under one roof. Be prepared to spend hours at the museum. I recently visited the feminine power exhibition and was not disappointed! A definite must visit for all museum lovers. They have a small cafe within the museum that’s well stocked with sandwiches and cakes. Plenty of food options around the museum as well. Great place to visit with family, like minded friends, or for a solo adventure back in time.

Great museum hosting millions of artifacts all around the world including famous Rosetta Stone. Its argued that only one percent of all collections are exhibited in the museum. I didnt like the order in which they presented collections. It does not follow a historical order which makes it difficult to visit different collections in a timely manner. Otherwise the museum is one of the best of its kind and definitely a must see one. The best part is the main collections are free to visit.

Entry is free to the British Museum. There are headsets available for self guided tours. This is something Id recommend if you want to go at your own pace. There are also tours with real guides, or you can just browse on your own as there is lots of information displayed next to the artifacts. The museum is huge and I would definitely recommend spending the whole day inside. Wear comfortable shoes. There is also a gift shop with lots of fun souvenirs and goodies as well as a book section with titles in multiple languages. There are also multiple points where you can make an optional donation towards the museum if you are so inclined. Great experience!

The British Museum is a great place to visit if youre interested in history or art. The museum has an incredible collection of artifacts from all over the world. I was particularly impressed by the Iraqi and the Egyptian collection. The museum is also very well-organized and easy to navigate. I would definitely recommend a visit to the British Museum.

They have like items from almost all the countries from the world. Its better to have a map of the muse form the help desk as the museum is very big. Decide first which all rooms and countrys room you want to visit. Incase you are Indian and wants to visit Indian room first its 33A. Its strictly closes by 5:00 PM. The museum is too picturesque. You can also buy sovereign from inside the museum shops.

Excellent experience. Beautiful place outside and inside. Many interesting collections. Enough to do here for a whole day.. Download the app and you have your personal audio guide for all the exhibits throughout the museum. Food and drink is sold on site, and a nice gift shop to get yourself a memoir.

Honestly, if you take one thing away from this review, please just try visiting the museum. Im not the type of person to enjoy history and I havent been enjoying museums either, however this happened to be right next to my hotel and since the admission was free, I just went straight in. You dont need to book tickets for the place because it took be around 20m to get in without it. The moment you step inside, your faced with a beautiful ceiling and I just thought I should go in one room. 3 hours later I came our of the other side of the museum with a big smile on my face. There is truly something fascinating for everyone here and everything is interconnected and huge. They have memorable items like the Rosetta stone and everything there is so well kept its honestly so impressive. Im so happy I gave this place a try and everyone else should too. They are also really well adapted for wheelchairs and you can visit the entire museum through the lift.

One of the must places to visit when in London. The array of history within this extremely huge and attractive museum is truly mind blowing. One is captivated to every artifact and there isnt enough time to give every piece its due concentration as theres so much to see. I went during the heatwave and though quite uncomfortable at times it didnt put me off my visit as theres a cafeteria for refreshments when needed, and once replenished back to the exhibits.

Astonishingly massive archaeological collection of items throughout human history. There are more items than you can browse in one day. To the main exhibition theres free entrance, but there are also changing exhibitions in the middle which you need to pay for. Absolutely mandatory to visit for anyone who has slightest interest towards the archaeological history of our planet. There was no queue on Friday evening, but it is highly recommended to book an entrance ticket in advance.

We came on a weekend in March and it was pretty crowded. However, it was a great place to visit! It’s super nice that it’s free to visit here and there is so much history within. We had to stand in line for a bit, but getting in went pretty smoothly. It’s a huge museum. There are tons of different areas and sections to visit, so something for everyone. You could spend hours and hours here. We didn’t have a ton of time to spend here, but we saw some really awesome things in such a short amount of time. Certain areas can be a bit crowded (Rosetta Stone), but it’s worth a visit if you’re interested in history. Be prepared to walk up stairs and walk a lot around this building if you want to see a few different areas.

History is written by the victors, and oh boy does this place have a lot of history. Its shocking to see so much of the wider world on display in this little corner of London. Some amazing artifacts live here and the space overall has a neat indoor/outdoor vibe with its gloriously glassy ceiling above the main inner courtyard.Worth a stop and worth any price of admission. Dont leave this place unvisited; at least once.

My favourite place to spend time while in London.I have visited an exhibition called Feminine power: the divine to the demonic. The exhibition was structured on themes such as: creation and nature, passion and desire, compassion and salvation, justice and defence. Each theme had its own representatives. It was interesting to see the diversity of feminine energy embodiments according to culture, history and traditions.I have also visited the Japanese Mitsubishi Galleries and enjoyed learning about The Japanese Edo Period with its pottery, samurai and tea house. The restaurant is nice. The gift shop hosts some great souvenirs - I have bought a few books of Japanese poetry. :)Great place to visit!

My visit was for about 4 hours and I still wouldnt say I saw everything. I was really blown away by the rooms displaying the Ancient Egyptian artefacts. I felt as though Id taken a step back in time! Id love to visit again to see more. Id highly recommend a visit.

A delightful experience going through the history of many civilizations in two hours. A lot of great artifacts but felt like a house that hosted a range of rich British private collections. The flow was not terribly fluid and we had to jump from one to another with no proper sequence. Free entry aside from the seasonal exhibitions.

Visited the world of Stonehenge exhibition at the British Museum. Really rich detail bringing together material from Stonehenge and Italy and Ireland. Amazing looking at the trade routes and travel in Europe and internally in the UK from much earlier than I ever thought possible. The rest of the museum is great. Not clear why the Japan galleries were shut though.

A very large place with a variety of historical monuments. I expected to spend 4 hours seeing the whole museum, but it did not happen. I will go at least another full day at the next opportunity. There were some special historical works from the region of Iran that I had read in textbooks before. But I was able to read more closely and patiently. Be sure to enter to see this place with planning and purpose.

If there was an establishment which keeps reminding you that one life is not enough, its the British Museum. The global reach of the erstwhile British Empire can be seen in the wealth and depth of the collections from the various parts of the globe where Britannia ruled when the sun never set on the British Empire. An awe inspiring collection: a treasure which is NOT to be missed in a lifetime!

I visited on a Tuesday during Easter half term with my history mad 15 year old Son. There was a huge queue when we arrived but this moved very swiftly so no issues there. We purchased a map & started where we were most interested which was in the Egyptian & mummies sections. The museum is huge so there is a lot of walking but there are plenty of seating areas all around the main & exhibition spaces. There are also cafe areas & toilets galore. I would recommend getting there when the museum opens as we were able to view each exhibit freely at first. It becomes very crowded as the day wears on however. We took 4 hours to see everything we wanted to & both enjoyed the visit very much.

Best advice I could give about the British Museum, get there early and go straight to the top and work your way down. Ideally pick up a floor map ( tick off each room as you go from the main foyer and go and lose / immerse yourself in the various collections / art pieces from the Egyptian pharaohs to the Islamic influence on south Europe to Britain through the ages. Some of the collections just take your breath away, how they were made and have been preserved through the ages. This is a must visit for anyone visiting London. We booked tickets online but there was no checks of tickets so i think the website is out of date, now that C-19 restrictions have been lifted. The venue is free which gives anyone the chance to enjoy the various collections regardless of your status. I liked they had benches in the main foyer so you can enjoy your own food and drink. ( no food and drinks allowed in the main halls there is a shop on site but doesnt sell food or drink. There are various collections / exhibits taking place throughout the year so always check the website for details. Enjoy, soak in the atmosphere and awe at the collections and forget about the crazy modern world we live in for few hours.

I keep coming back here as it is such a wonderful museum. There is so much to see and you could spend an entire day exploring. Its an absolute labyrinth so a map is advisable. The British Museum is FREE to visit. It is packed full of history. Time sits still in this place. So many timelines to see. So much knowledge. There are some events you can pay to see/enter otherwise 90% is available to see. Theres also plenty of toilets, seating, staff to assist you, maps on the right at the entrance, outdoor cafe food and drink stand with seating. Indoor food court downstairs and upstairs. Also, a lovely big gift shop!Your bags are searched before entering for safety which I liked! Worth a visit and will spend quite a bit of time here.

The best museum I’ve ever been to. We went with a group and had booked a tour guide online through another company. We did a really interesting Bible tour and it was about one hour. After the tour, we walked around on our own a bit. The best part? The fascinating history! You’re left needing to come back so you can learn more. The worst part? There’s just too much to see that you will not be able to see it all in one visit. Please go if you have the chance and booking a tour guide will at least help you see the main displays and parts of the museum. You will walk a lot but there’s benches you can sit at if you need to rest. They also have a small shop inside. The museum is also close to many other shops and restaurants that we were able to walk to once we were done. There’s also going to be a lot of people so find a time that won’t be too busy. We went early in the morning and it was busy but not too packed.

Been there at the opening time, but Ive never seen this museum with so few people. Took advantage of having little tourists and took a lot of pictures. I had booked a free ticket but was not asked to show anything. There were queues before the bag search but it was pretty smooth. People with no bags could just walk through a difficult aisle. Its really spacious and there are lots of benches to sit and rest. The main cafe and restaurant were open but small coffee bars were closed. The souvenir shop gave me 20% off voucher valid for only today, so if you are planning to buy something more than one, you probably want to buy one first and the rest with the voucher. Great museum with historical items, large and small and all. Just cant believe you can just walk in without paying. Utterly impressive.
