The lady who runs the shop would have to be the rudest person in hospitality. Yesterday waited 7 minutes to order fish and chips, no customer in front of me. She just kept cooking another order. I ordered and after 20 minutes discovered she had not started my order. Got a refund and left. Don’t bother with this shop. Fishy fishy is just across the street.

Easily the best fish and chips I have had in Australia. Just a wonderful feed!I had the battered special for $12 and my partner got his crumbed. The oil was clean/fresh and did not give me heartburn, which happens often. Apart from the delicious food, the place was extremely clean - so clean you could eat off the floor.5* all the way. Asked for a piece of snapper crumbed, but definitely was not snapper that I got !I am a fisho and know what snapper when cooked looks and tastes like.Theyre either getting ripped off by the supplier or are selling something else as snapper.

Great value fish and chips with gluten free options. Fresh, crispy fish, calamari and chips. What more can you ask for? Highly recommend.

Nice to find a place that serves crumbed whiting. Great chips and good calamari. Took a little longer than Id hoped but the two young girls behind the counter were doing a great job and were very friendly and helpful.

I am almost speechless. i have been coming here over the past year, dealing with the lady who i imagine owns it. I have never met a more rude person in the food/hospital business. To begin with she opens at 5pm, in the evening, we were waiting out in the cold and she watched us, laughing in the store until 5.10pm then decided to open. A lady was waiting behind me, well beside me and came probably 10 minutes after my waiting time outside. i was served first [of course the lady doesnt say hi, she stands there, almost smirking] took my order [mind you, no eftpos] without her being polite once to me, not an off day, she is ALWAYS this rude. Placed my order, and waiting outside for 20 minutes [reminding you i was first to order] then the lady who was 10 minutes behind me, gets her food first. No its not because my order was large of difficult, she actually took part of my order off the drip tray to give the lady 2nd in line her order. She knew her so i guess if you are a true local [grown up 50+ years in the town] you get to skip the line. we ended up getting our food third, as she ended up having to cook part of our order again, giving part the lady number 2. Mind you she didnt re-cook the balance of our order, it sat there cold. so not only RUDE, but made us wait behind others, getting their food [well part of our food] and leaving the other part of our order to go stone cold. i spend around $40 just to walk in their door there, always are polite and she is just RUDE she doesnt deserve my money! the food was cold and very oily by the time i got to the park bench to eat it, which is a 20 second walk from the shop. my advice GO across the road to FISHY FISHY...

Awesome fish here, fresh and tasty! Price was pretty fair too. All the wrapping was recyclable (and probably compostable as welland portion size was good. Only downside is no eftpos. Cash only. Definitely recommend, but bring cash.

Good fast cheap eats. Like the sweet potato fries option. Mostly compostable paper and card packaging is excellent. Calamari ok for the price. Friendly service. It would be good if they got rid of the small single serve plastic sauces & replaced them with big bottles & cardboard mini bowls. The era of single use plastic is over & looks bad to customers these days

Definitely better than the other fish & chip in town.Reasonably priced.Served in traditional paper but also in cardboard container even if dining onsite.Service tomato sauces in plastic single use containers :-(

Used to eat here a lot. Service still sour but portion sizes and quality has dropped. Back to the coop at Ballina.

Expensive, but good. Then again, this is Lennox Head so its all expensive. The food is delicious, would like to see more burger options (egg, bacon, pineapplebut it is what it is.

Made the mistake of eating here. Suggest you give it a miss. Service was less than friendly. Food was low level, cold, too much batter, over cooked. Had a burger and sorry to say was the worst burger of my life, meat patty, piece of tomato and three quarters of a lettuce. Really disappointing.

The Real deal for a wholesome locally run fish and chip establishment. The seafood menu basic but honorably prepared with fresh produce. The Tassie Scallops were a revelation. Cash only but have seen this before with similar Mum and Dad establishments dealing with higher costs while trying to maintain quality through integrity. Will make a detour for here again when travelling the Great Northern Rivers region of NSW.

I always enjoy the battered John Dory with chips @ The Bream Hole when Im visiting Ballina/ Lennox Heads. The service is good as are the prices!

Dont get too excited. Very expensive for below average food and small portions. (I think frozen fish and chips at home in the oven would be better). No eftpos available and seems like staff would rather be elsewhere. Unfortunately this little place could be great with some love.

Have read a couple of reviews that seem Fishy, Fishy....if you are going to attack another business, be more creative guys...i enjoyed my meal there...enough said...wake UP....

Gave 1 star because I couldnt give zero stars! I am usually quite generous in my reviews but when I pay $52.00 for 1 piece of fish (that was flavorless and powdery8 calamari rings (that where burnt to a crisp and so chewy it got caught in my daughters throat1 hamburger (which was the saving grace$5 worth of chips (which barely was enough for 2 children under 10and 6 chicken nuggets (which were the size of a small bird covered in burnt crumbs)... and to finish it off NO EFTPOS... what year is it 1998!! Severely dissapointed!! Do yourself a favour and go to Fishy Fishy across the road.. near the ATM machine!

Oily, flavourless, and expensive. The potato scallops we had were a joke, its basically deep fried batter with a hint of potato. The chips were so oily I couldve squeezed them out and refilled my car. Why cant anyone sort out fish and chips in the Northern Rivers?

The food tastes like the never change their oil and it is always oily. The price is expensive. Do yourself a favour and cross the road to eat at fishy fishy... Much better...

Absolutely the worst potato scallops I have ever had . Only a sliver of potato , the batter was disgusting , they were so oily and we had to throw them out ,they were inedible . Im so glad we didnt order fish.

Absolutely phenomenal service, and the food is out of this world. There isnt a better place to spend an arvo then down the Breamhole. Only slight negative I have with said premises, is that they close between 3-5 :( Unhappy boo boo.
