The Breakfast Nook - Restaurant in Nanaimo, Canada
Used to be down the street I think but now inside the hotel. Nice space, big windows. The parkade entrance doesnt see a lot of traffic from what I can tell so the patio is nice. Omelette was great, service was friendly, coffee was good. Nice little spot even if its not quite as quaint as the old location looked to be. Will go back 😊
I had a chance to eat breakfast here while staying in the Quality Inn for a day.A cute little diner kind of, used to be a stand alone diner but now part of the Quality Inn hotel since Aug. this year. The waitress, Kyla, is so nice, smiley, quick to serve customers and she handles all guests by herself alone.Food was great, two thumbs up to the chef impressive and well done.Good coffee, good atmosphere and vibe. They are also open 4-9pm for drink and appies. If you are coming to Nanaimo make sure to stop by specially for breakfast, trust me worth it well.
Tucked away in a hotel so not many tables, which is too bad because the food was great and the service excellent! Highly recommend.
Went for bacon and eggs this morning....best breakfast Ive had in a restaurant in Nanaimo for a long time. Bacon was crispy, eggs were cooked how I asked, butter was melted on toast and everything was hot. And the ladies working there are the best, they are all so friendly and happy! My new favorite breakfast spot :)
Pleasant server who was doing her best whilst being short staffed and slammed on a Sunday morning.Food was worth the wait. Lovely patio upstairs.Probably not the place to go if you are in a rush or not practicing patience.
It was our first anniversary and they served us very well. Definitely recommend to visit this place
If you haven’t been…go. Go now. One of the best breakfasts you’re going to find in Nanaimo and their new location is fantastic. Best staff too! ☺️
The food was good but the cloth they used to clean the table left a really bad smell. Wash your cloths more often maybe.
Stumbled upon this quaint little place as we were staying at the Quality Inn in Nanaimo and the breakfast nook had just recently opened inside the hotel (within the past 2 weeks for breakfast, this week for dinner). The owner/hostess/chef Carrie was absolutely hospitable, friendly, warm, and genuine. Her mom (sorry didn’t get her namewas there to help her through her transition from her previous location down the street. Clean, prompt and friendly service, and personal style to her menu. We had the lemon pepper wings and the charcuterie board (and a few glasses of wine ☺️which were both fantastic especially after our long hike! She’s just opened but I know she will be successful because of her warm nature and knowledge of comfort food! Best of luck to you Carrie. It was lovely to meet and chat with you! Cheers! 🍸
I have been twice over a year. Wonderfully flavourful and satisfying food, and the friendliest service anywhere.I havent been in the evening but excited they have started evening hours for appies and drinks!
Ordered 10 minutes before the guest come in after us and get our dishes 10 minutes after they did. I don’t see a pancake and a omelette is much more difficult to make than bennys. The omelette is pale and dry, no sear and sauce or cheese at all, nothing like the picture showed. And the toppings is minimum, 2/3 is on the plate instead of in between the eggs.2star for the huge pancake. Fruit bowl sucks too, not fresh. All the blueberries in there are wrinkled up.
Best breakfast in Nanaimo! Breakfast hash, veggie benny, and cappuccino so good.
Best service Ive had in years! Our server was friendly, bubbly, and kind. She was so genuine and positive throughout the meal. The food was delicious too. Definitely a great spot for a brunch.
Great new location! Relaxed friendly atmosphere, beautiful food, great potatoes 🥔 😋
Delicious breakfast and extremely friendly staff! Highly recommend!
The staff here are fantastic! Good food. Great service, fun music.
The food is good but the waitress was very rude. The poor service over shadowed the experience :(
I dont have words to explain the food these wonderful cooks made.Just phenomenal
Followed other reviews and stopped for breakfast off the ferry; and Im glad we did. Great little Cafe, good food, coffee with friendly service. What more do you want? We had the bacon benny if that helps but all looked good. Not many tables so I dont know if it gets lineups like Van cafes as we were there for open more or less
We had the most amazing breakfast this morning. Ham Benedict and massive pancakes was delicious. The staff were remarkable. We will be regulars here for sure. Oh coffee was good tooThanks !!!!
We stopped here for breakfast when we were headed to Tofino. The waitress, the moment she saw us walking up to the restaurant, welcomed us with a great big smile and super friendly enthusiasm. The food was delicious. I had ordered a omelette, loaded it with ham, cheese, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes. My husband had a breakfast burrito which was also delicious. The food was great but the service made it better. The waitress with the tattoo of a frog is an absolute gem and set the tone for our day. We will definitely be stopping here again the next time we come to the island. Ps. Their toast is delicious, i had ordered a side order of it ( i don’t usually even enjoy toast much)
Got the eggs benedict. Was well prepared and tasted good. Decent value for the cost of the meal.
Carrie and her team did an excellent job. Its amazing what a small well organized kitchen can produce. Im going to miss the old house.
We had the bacon strip benny and the hash breakfast. One the best breakfasts weve ever had.
Great little "hole in the wall" restaurant. The boyfriend and I both enjoyed our breakfast. I had the bacon benny and he had the breakfast hash. We will be back!
Was very soggy and cold.. and we live next door. I asked for my eggs over easy and they were very overcooked, my boyfriends breakfast burrito was basically the same thing but in a wrap. Can’t see us going back. Hollandaise sauce was the only reason I’m giving 2 stars 👍
Excellent find! I could have breakfast here every day - eggs benny extraordinaire (get the bacon one), amazing coffee, great friendly waitress, nice little spot with decks outside or inside seating if you prefer. This is the kind of place you don’t want to leave a good review because it will get too busy. The owners have a good thing going here - we will be back!
Delicious eggs Benedict. A little small, but it fits the atmosphere well.
Looks like nothing from the outside, but can easily say this is THE best breakfast youll eat in Nanaimo. The menu is small, but every item is cooked with such attention and detail. The hollandais sauce was made perfectly, the eggs cooked to order, the pancakes misshapen yet beautiful, the coffee so nice, the potatoes cooked with real butter. It feels like the food was made for you in your kitchen. The staff made us feel at home, less like they were serving us and more like we were family coming over for breakfast.I cannot say enough how perfect the Breakfast Nook was in every possible way!
I had a ham Benny , the sauce is really good. I definitely will come back again when I visit Nanaimo.
Great home style breakfast menu. Served with graciousness. Fair pricing.Well definitely be going back!
Wow what an incredible benny! I love hollandaise sauce and this was rhick and so much flavor! The service was excellent 👌 thanks for an amazing meal!
Stopped here on our way to the ferry. Small place with few tables and tiny kitchen. So menu is limited but the food was really good. Their version of Benedict worth a try.
The Breakfast Nook is one of my all time favorite places to share with visitors while in Nanaimo. Its a cute, small local business that serves *delicious* breakfast options. Id suggest trying the waffles, the Bennys, the hash; basically, you cant go wrong with any food choice they offer. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Such a great little spot. Wonderful service and awesome, homemade food. Only issue I found was it was SO hot and humid inside. Probably because its a tiny place with a stove going and lots of people around. That was my only complaint. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely AMAZING!! Breakfast was wonderful and the hollandaise sauce is to die for! To the waitress with purple lips!!!! Your hospitality made the breakfast and it would be my new hotspot and if we lived here! Thank you so much for this great breakfast 🍳
The Perfect Breakfast Spot"Perfect" is not a word I throw around. After all, nothing is ever truly perfect, is it? Not in real life anyway. This place makes me think twice about my feelings about perfection. Weve only been twice and both times it has been, well, perfect. The service, the music, the vibe, the menu and of course the food/coffee.Weve had the Hash, the Benny, the Waffles and the Pancakes. Grand slamma-jamma every time.I wouldnt change a thing and as a restaurant owner myself Im pretty judge-y. Nope. The Breakfast Nook is what it is and does what it does perfectly. Im sure there will be future moments where mistakes are made or whatever but for now these folks are batting 1000. Hall of Famers for sure. Easily our favourite breakfast spot in town and maybe on the Island.
Some daily/weekly specials. The eggs benny was fantastic. Hollandaise sauce in particular was on of the best ive had. Wish i lived local and could sample everything.
It was a great diner. Hope to go back. The Hollandaise cream is awesome
Cozy dining room in a heritage building with diner-like ambience, very well executed traditional breakfast, and friendly personalized service. Its the little things, like properly seasoned potatoes and the offer of tea for the road that would have me coming back here.
Incredible breakfast and phenomenal service!! Cozy and cheerful. Definitely a perfect spot for a cozy and delicious breakfast.
Nice homey place to have breakfast! The waitress was very friendly and the ham Benny was delicious! I still think about it to this day. Will be back for sure!
Beautiful atmosphere from a quaint Old Town of Nanaimo food establishment THE BREAKFAST NOOK. Service is excellent and feels homey. An excellent drop in before taking the Ferry to Lower Mainland.
The staff is supper nice and professional. The food was delicious (Eggs Benedict). And the Americano was perfect. We will come back to this place when we next time we visit Nanaimo. ❤️
Hands down best eggs benefit, was a bit of wait but they took our name and phone number and we went for a walk till they called us with a table ready. Washroom was also their storage room for non food related items and did not feel very sanitary it was awkwardly constructed in what was the middle of the restaurant and there was very limited dining space so in the winter I dont know how they configure this to accommodate patrons. They need a larger space or a reconfiguration of existing space.
Eggs Benny was delicious , service was accommodating and quick , coffee was delicious. We will be back.
Orderd a burrito and veggie hash for take out on our drive through Nanaimo. Both were delicious and filling, and the hollandaise sauce was perfect!
We ordered the hash - the hollandaise sauce was split and oily. Hash was undercooked. We also ordered the pancakes - there was a cinnamon element in it that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. The pancakes tasted alright and seems like it’s made from whole wheat.
Best eggs benny I have ever had. Coffee was fantastic too.
Small menu but lots of ingredients to make things customizable. Has a coffee shop vibe, very cozy. Would not recommend for large groups. It was affordable the two breakfasts with 2 coffees with tip came to $25. Must have a card with tap to pay other wise it is cash only.
