Set on the banks of the River Lee, this traditional pub with guestrooms is 15 minutes' walk from the Passenger West Ferry and 15.5 km from Cork.Simple rooms offer en suite bathrooms, free WiFi and flat-screen TVs, plus tea and coffeemaking facilities. Some rooms have river views. The refined restaurant serves Irish and international dishes, and a bar has a nautical theme.
Consistently high quality food and service. Dingle Bay scampi and the prawn cocktail are a favourite.
The service was excellent. The food was very disappointing, I ordered oven baked hake, the hake tasted reheated and rubbery. The vegetables were tasteless and extremely hot. The banoffi dessert tasted of nothing, if I was blindfolded I wouldnt have known what I was eating. My daughters dietary requirements were well taken care of, she had plain chicken and potatoes.Theres too many choices on the menu, pare down the menu and up the quality of the food and the cooking.
Great atmosphere and service - excellent food
This place was magicalSuper quiet, the staff are amazing, the breakfast is GREAT, the rooms are cosy and you can easily get to Cobh by boat and some little walking (but it is worth it)
Excellent food and service.
Great food, lovely location, friendly and professional staff
Great food and fantastic service
Great restraints hospitality unbelievable nice viwe Joyful place pub super
Attended a family lunch in the Bosun for 20 people and everyone had varied meals. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Waiting staff were very attentive, efficient and courteous.Highly recommended.
Plenty of staff who worked hard to ensure we had everything we needed. Good food but a word of warning...the portions are massive!
Great restourant. Very nice looking place. Caffee was delicious.
Delicious food and excellent service as always.
Beautiful spot. Fantastic views.. Best breakfast iv had in a long time.. Perfect place for a few days away..
Very Clean, friendly staff and very welcoming.... Quality food. Fish & Chips were really good.
We had nice sandviches here, when we were cycling.
Amazing food and amazing staff ☺️☺️☺️
It’s been three years that we are having food from bosun, and they should improve there customers services, at least they should send someone who can understand English and take order, properly.I ordered salmon with Cajun spices but without chorizo.I am Muslim and it’s against my fait to eat pork, but again I have pork in my food.Hopefully management will take it seriously. It’s not a joke.Never again
Hosted a lunch for visitors to Cork, great experience, excellent menu choices and helpful friendly staff.
Delicious meal and excellent service. Beautiful surroundings.
We spend one night in here.Horrible night ,never ever again, bathroom was not clean,on the top of our room floor very noise.Very disappointed. Better pay few extra money and stay in a hotel!
Great food and super friendly staff
Food was nice, was clean, location is nice rooms on the small side but could not complain about anything..was a nice traditional BnB
Honestly Disappointing: Overall it was very disappointing from the check in when he told us that we didn’t have a room because there was an issue on their end even tho I called hours before arriving and nothing was said but somehow he just happened to have one available, going into the room it looked ok but when you start to actually look around it was not clean at all, the kettle had dirt marks all over it inside and out, there was two lights in the toilet and not one of them worked, going to lay on the bed I noticed there was a yellowish mark on my pillow so I just turned it over because there was no extras, the mattress was like sleeping on the floor with a sheet wrapped around us, no heating in the room and honestly the place just felt unsafe with no cameras anywhere and no staff around at all plus the front door had no lock system so literally anyone could walk in whenever. The next morning we got the breakfast and it was actually really nice but the cutlery and plates were not in the best condition. Honestly would never stay here again unless they did huge works and actually put in the effort to detail.
Love this place. Quaint little restaurant/bar The open salmon sandwich is delicious. Really friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Suitable for lunch and dinner as two different menus with a great selection.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, eat in bar area and food was lovely, very tasty and something to sute everyone
Beatiful food, fast service, great atmosphere, interesting interior design elements.
So bad. Bang average pate piped into a dish with a cupcake nozzle, and done so badly it’s appearance resembled what my dog leaves me to pick up.Also paid around 20 Euros for a ‘Thai red curry’. It certainly wasn’t Thai red curry and it certainly wasn’t worth 20 quid. The only certain thing about this dish is that it came out of a microwave and it was awful.Id avoid at all costs if you want half decent food.
Had Sunday lunch on the 12th of June and was very disappointed with the plaice dinner, side dishes were on top of the food and the chips were like they were reheated, carrot veg was almost liquidized, coffee was out of a jug and watery, i asked for coffee out of the machine and they tried to charge for two coffees, main course was 19.50, overall poor quality and value.
Bar man was professional and friendly.General look of all the staff was professional, perfect clean uniform. We counted 5 servers in total that came to our table , so we didnt know who to tip !I had the mussels to start.Very disappointing. The mussels were miniscule! Hubby had the garlic mushrooms, no complaints, very tasty.I had the trio of fish for my main, fish was overcooked and dry. Skin burned.Sauce lacked depth and sides were unseasoned and boring.Hubby had the cod with coconut curry, it was only ok , again fish was overcooked. Our daughter had the salmon salad. Plenty of salmon, well cooked. Avocado wasnt fresh, lots of black bruising.Disappointing overall.Pricey and not worth it.Unfortunately I wont be rushing back
Food is very good however the tables and seats are cramped. The food makes it worth the visit.
Great reviews, food was average, overpriced and poor service. Would I recommend it, NO. McDonalds offers better service and better food.
Lovely place. Food is delicious and tasty. We eat the oysters and they were wonderful. Fish was supreme and kids menu is really recommended for big children. Staff is helpful and super friendly!
Food good ---plenty of fish--nice staff--bit pricey for mains
Food exceptional good & very helpful staff. The only thing I found the price of water with a dash of cordial too expensive by far. Also what ever they are cleaning the tables with - - is making the tables too sticky. . Could they clean the large mirror as well. But I have to say otherwise excellent food & staff are so friendly & helpful. .
Food excellent. Very clean. Staff were very attentive. Highly recommended.
Lovely food, friendly staff.
One of the nicest open crab sandwiches iv had in a long time. Up there with the likes of Bushes in Baltimore. The seafood chowder was lovely too, thankfully it wasn’t loaded with flour/potato and was full of fish. The scampi was delicious too. Overall a great experience and a very family friendly restaurant. Iv been going to this restaurant for 30 years or so and it’s great that the quality is still there. 100% will continue to visit!
Just came home from an amazing dinner experience in The Bosun, absolutely fabulous! Oysters as fresh as they can be, every course tasty, and the apple and raspberry crumble to die for! Hat off to staff and chef!
Food and service is always first class . Very pleasant place in a beautiful location!
Been going there for years always great.staff cant do enough, lovely double espresso.
Just because my and my girlfriend were young, we were rushed and mistreated, kept trying to move us too, the Italian waiter would want to learn how to do his job right🤣 small portions aswell for the price a joke of a place
Nice restaurant.Service was very nice. They treated my daughter very well with coloring paper and Crayolas!Food was fresh and flavourful. The rice pudding is to die for!Definitely a good place
Phoned the Bosun yesterday after attending a service in Ringaskiddy. Looking for lunch for twenty people. Certainly was the reply. We arrived fifteen minutes later to a warm welcome. The tables were set up together in a nice area. The service was five star as was the food. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back!
What a find! Wonderful place, seafood was amazing and an array of choices. If you are a coeliac you will be so happy with the amount of dishes you can choose from. Staff were wonderful too, 5 star.
Was in The Bosun today for dinner with my wife, have not been there for nearly 2 years, hasnt changed a bit , absolutely fantastic place for food, staff same, absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend The Bosun for food , would love to sample a pint or two , cant ofcourse when driving. Happy new year to you all at The Bosun, we will be back.
Excellent food and service. They have separate vegan/vegetarian menu and notate gluten free items. I had an amazing Thai red curry. Fresh veggies in a slightly spicy red curry sauce served with saffron rice. There is also a delicious gluten free brownie sundae. One of my favorite restaurants in Cork
Thank you so much to the management and staff at the Bosun for looking after us last night on the occasion of my mothers 84th birthday. The food was absolutely beautiful. The staff were fantastic and went above and beyond to look after us.Thank you all.We will definitely be back soon.
Stayed for the weekend. Especially impressed with the breakfast staff. Kirsten and her colleague were so helpful on Saturday, on Sunday we came down to breakfast and they had remembered our preferences so there was a spoon and watered down juice for my toddler waiting for her. Its those little touches that make a business stand out.The views from the room were beautiful, and the shower was lovely and powerful. Would stay again
Absolutely exceptional customer service. I stayed for work for 2 days and I managed to leave two items behind, one of which was quite bulky. Nevertheless, Don arranged to have the items shipped right back to me. I was so impressed. The overall stay was great also, very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Highly recommended!
I stayed in the hotel and tried the restaurant because Ive heard it was good. Honestly, I was quite disappointed with the quality of the food. Both the lasagne and the fish were deep frozen, precooked and reheated. There were some green peas that smelled like sewers and the chips were also supermarket quality. The cost was 20e per dish.Just eating this made me feel sad..I dont know how some people find this any good, Ive been to many places in Ireland and I found some really good food West / Northwest(Im on a road trip around the country and Ive been to another 13EU countries for comparison purposes)Other than this, the (Italian?guy taking orders sometimes made "jokes" that were kinda offensive. The girls who were serving were really polite and nice.I hope you guys can fix this because the hotel and breakfast are actually good. (this rating is for the restaurant)
