The Boatman - Gastropub in Windsor, Canada
I have a pet hate about noise at restaurants - the Boatman had a vibrant atmosphere just a bit too noisy. Thats just me. The lamb shoulder was exceptional. Location unbeatable. Reasonable price relatively speaking
The Best Meal I have ever had.Very good Service.Super friendly.Nice View on the river ThamseIt is an absolut recommendation!!!It is a 10/10
What a lovely, friendly and welcoming pub. Excellent food, we shared three starters between us and all were very good. Superb river views and of course, like any decent pub, this also welcomes dogs.I must say this pub has some of the nicest staff, they have an eye for detail and excellent customer service skills. Special thanks to Rose - you are a diamond xx
If there were more stars I would gladly give it.... A affordable and mouthwatering meal and tranquil scenery that will keep you running back for more. My lamb should was a 20 out of 10 rating and service was exquisite
Nice setting for summer, food was average - we had a large group that had been booked for a month prior day after our wedding, roast dinners all round - there’s better roasts around, but also worse ones. Unfortunately the Maitre D gave off more of a moody nightclub bouncer vibe, big guy, grumpy when asking if we’d booked, wore a bouncer coat and was quite intimidating. A week after the state funeral meant parking was impossible to find - not the restaurant’s fault - but he pressured us to hurry up with ordering when we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive due to the parking issues. It was clear they wanted us out because they had a big booking - we also had a booking for the group we made a month in advance. Service with a smile goes a long way.
Went with friends who live locally to the restaurant. Food was great. A bit noisy with young kids around but you cant have everything! Felt it was a bit pricey especially the wine, but it was an overall nice experience.
Booked here a couple of weeks ago whilst on holiday with my family as an anniversary meal. Upon arrival was told couldn’t sit outside as a group had booked it. Drinks came and was wrong, then food took more than an hour and still had not arrived before we decided to leave as kids were starved. Would never attempt to eat here again.
Great place for a Sunday roast, by the river you feel peaceful and a great place to have a few beers with your love ones and of course enjoy a Sunday roast, thats delicious by the way and well served, followed by handmade deserts cant go wrong with that meal. Staff is super friendly
Delicious food, great service and lovely view on the river Thames.
Beautifully set on the Thames, this establishment clearly profits from the tourists but without compromising in the kitchen. The battered haddock with chips and peas came quickly and was suitably accompanied by vinegar and sauces. The view alone will justify a visit either to get a light meal or spending a summer evening with a drink of wine or beer.Polite and quick service with a smile.
Best views in Windsor but the staff is not attentive. There is a only drinks section but no one lets you know that there isn’t table service..
Loved the Mozzarella and Plump Tomatoes, Grilled Sea bass and Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla ice cream.
Lovely pub with great food. Nice location by the train station and next to the river. My friend said its the best burger hes ever had (although he was a few pints deep..).
The sharing platter we ordered was good but the way the restaurant is setup doesnt work. You shouldnt separate tables to a section of drinks only and then those ordering food. Beautiful view of the river yet those tables sit empty because you are ordering food and not drinks so you cant sit there. Instead you get put at a table further back next to the road where there is no air flow. Staff arent very flexible but maybe thats due to the way the restaurant is setup and management. We were spoken to very reduley by the runner and basically told off when we asked if we could order something from her. Not the right way to speak to your customers even if its something she cant help with.We have dined at many places in England over two weeks so and this was the last place we went to - sadly wasnt a great experience for us and not somewhere I would return to.
Beautiful ambience along the river, sat outside for a delicious dinner. Great company helps. Service was great and food was very good. Would be back very soon.
Really enjoyed our meal here in this beautiful riverside setting. They were absolutely heaving but didn’t keep us waiting. Staff were really nice and accommodating. Atmosphere was great. You absolutely have to try the Eton Mess, one of the best I ever had.
Excellent service, ambience and friendly staff.Great menu too.Definitely worth a visit in the summer with great views of Windsor.
Great location by the river for lunch. Recommend the Italian meat and cheeseboard starter. Burger & Chips OK, nothing special. Burger thin and dry. :(
We had the pleasure of visiting The Boatman on Saturday 23rd July 2022 (along with our dogand would highly recommend it. The service and the food were both excellent, in a lovely setting. We certainly hope to pay another visit there in the near future.
Great location on a nice day, unable to sit outside despite the many vacant tables as these were reserved for drinks only guests.Staff wwere good but lacked attention to detail.Food was a huge letdown, burgers were dry with no ingredients or sauce apart from chicken or beef patty and cheese which was extra. Very disappointed as Five Guys or even weatherspoons had been better and at a better rate.Great place for drinks but certainly for lunch look elsewhere at those prices for the quality - freezer to plate food. Cote over the other side is definitely a better option in my opinion.
Suggest management change advertising to read "Windsors only RESTAURANT on the river" as real Pub this is not.Even when customers only want to pop in for a quick drink inside in the lounge bar area, there seems to be a strict policy of still having to wait to be walked to a table and be seated by a Maître d (even when no tables are occupied insidewith managements preference apparently being for waitress service after that unlike in a traditional pub.Although staff were mainly pleasant, and there is a decent selection of lagers and wines, there is not much that will appeal to real ale drinkers.
Stunning location on the Thames and surprisingly drinks are priced reasonably. Service is fast and always with a smile.
Lovely pub in a fantastic location with the bonus of allowing dogs inside. The waiter was very nice but the food was not too good. I ordered the vegan moussaka which was not great with chips very similar to Wetherspoons!! My partner ordered the chicken burger which was a plainbun with a dry piece of chicken, no dressings, spices or salad. Very disappointed as it was almost £50 forthis meal with one drink each. Definitely need to make the food more appealing and tastier.
Service was a bit slow but it was a hot summer evening so I guess it was quite busy. We had to ask for the chips we ordered from 3 different people before they actually came out. The food was fine but nothing special. The tables that are supposed to seat 4 people are quite small so we all had to straddle the table legs which was unusual. Despite not giving it 5 stars I’ll probably come back for drinks here.
I went with a group of 14 friends for lunch yesterday. The service was excellent. The food potions were “ very generous” to say the least! The location & ambience perfect for a summer afternoon ❤️
Dinner for 4 adultsServed by EmmaEmma, was delightful to interact with, polite, friendly and the most attentive and professional waitress my family encountered on our current European tour trip. The Restaurant manager was also very considerate and immediately offered to swap roasted potatoes for fries.Very satisfied with the service and the outdoor seating had nice water views
Excellent place busy but waiters kept a watchful eye. Lovely food sharing a mixed meat platter - plenty for 2. Hot latte - real plus
Ive had worse roast dinners out but was bland. Could see mustard on carrots and season on potatoes but couldnt taste it. Nice amount of gravy and Yorkshire was good. Lovely location, just away from tourist heavy spot right on river. Paying for location in my opinion, not worth the price but as I said, Ive had worse for more money. Had a nice vibe but tables are limited to 2 hours which is a shame.
Great food. Great portion size. Lovely staff. There were six of us all with a different food choice and everyone enjoyed the food. Really enjoyed our evening.
Great place by the river to sit and watch the world go by and to meet with friends. However, unless youre eating the staff outside are genuinely uninterested. When we stated that there was a group of us for drinks we were told, in no uncertain terms, "That table in the corner only". 7 of us sat outside for a few hours and the table was never cleared despite the abundance of staff. Staff inside were a lot more friendly, staff outside could be more welcoming considering the amount of money spent at around £70 a round x 7
Attentive staff. Slow food.Disappointing main.Dry bun and chicken. Nothing in the burger apart from the chicken. I would have thought for the price there would be onion or lettuce. Will go to Wetherspoons next time.
Lovely pub with delicious food though the service wasnt the best. When I told the waiter to remove the service charge, he started to argue with me about the reason why and start a scene. Probably wont be back again but others may have a different experience. Perhaps the waiter with the moustache can learn not to argue with customers at some point.
This is the only pub on the river here in Windsor, they have Morris dancers that show up and perform on a Saturday -very entertaining! Service were happy to accommodate our table swapping in sunseeking whilst waiting for our food to arrive. Chicken salad was good, burger was a bit lackluster. Toilets are upstairs!
Lovely place on the Thames at Windsor. Been a few times when we have a day in Windsor, nice place, friendly staff and a good pint of Guinness. Will be back, maybe to dine in next time, not tried the food here but it looks lovely
Sunday lunch with friends. The good bits were lovely riverside location, beautiful day & we sat outside. I ordered Sunday lunch roast lamb & my friends ordered the roast beef & fishcakes. The Sussex roast lamb was about 75% fat & the potatoes & veg were marginal - very disappointed & to be avoided. In fairness the roast beef by comparison was lovely. Staff then asked for desert menu & they never came back. After 30 mins of waiting I went to find a member of staff to pay & we left. Drinks were very nice. Cost was £75 for 2 people including a bread starter. Must rate as the worst lamb cut I have ever had. Avoid!
Amazing food choices. Love the location and the ambience. I tried fish and chips, which anyway cant go very wrong and it didnt 😊
Fabulous location and the conservatory is a super new addition with great river views. Generous servings of really well prepared dishes. Friendly staff. We had a lovely family lunch for 13.
Absolutely fantastic place for family and friends lunch and dinner. The food is ao delicious
Great Sunday roast! Previously been here for weekday menu and wasnt overly impressed but LOVE the roast
Windsors only riverside pub and a quality place it is! The setting is a delight, decent drinks selection and amazing food served in a lovely glazed dedicated restaurant annex to the main pub. The pub has a good atmosphere, decor is excellent & staff very welcoming & friendly. Outstanding & highly recommended!
We had a lovely New Years Eve dinner at the Boatman whilst staying on the canal boat opposite. Food was excellent, service was fantastic and very dog friendly. Highly recommend.
We both had roasts... The beef and lamb were excellent. Potatoes and cabbage were pretty bland, but my husband loves the roasted carried. Overall quite nice.
Nice place if around the Windsor area. Decent quality pub food and lots of space. Dog friendly which is also a bonus. Slightly away from the other restaurants so you get that open space feeling. Nice view of the river and the bridge.
A lovely place to dine with friends and family either outside or inside the pub. The added bonus of eating outside allows you to dine beside the River Thames in Windsor with the backdrop of Windsor Castle. There is an exclusive area for larger groups in a glass faceted room that also exploits the views of the River Thames and the backdrop of Windsor Castle ideal for rainy, cold days.Overall the food is exquisite. Drinks and food are reasonably priced for the area. If you are looking for quality, tasty food this is an ideal place to feast on mouth watering food. This place comes highly recommended and if you are a foodie who enjoys food at its very best then this is definitely the place to come for a bite to eat. Plan ahead as bookings are a must so that you are not disappointed. Make sure you get the best seat outside to enjoy those views as you eat and drink.
Excellent!! Friendly staff,Really delicious food and the view looking out the river while enjoying your meal is something. Will highly recommend.
This place was lovely from the staff to the food and service. We arrived and was seated. We asked could we move if possible inside (would have been lovely to sit by the canal but our 4 year old daughter was getting coldand the gentleman sorted it no problem. The staff manager I think the lady was called Denisa Im not 100% was our waitress and she was brilliant and catered for our daughter making it fun for her. Would highly recommend this place and would visit again without a doubt if in the area again. Thanks
We had a fantastic night here. The staff were very friendly and helpful, great setting and delicious food. All you could ask for.
This was a pub in Windsor based right by the river a train station and being a Saturday there was alot of parking and we only paid £5 for the day.The Boatman was quite careful of the fact that we had all just come out of restrictions. The food was excellent the service was good. We ordered drinks followed by olives and two types of Salad. This was followed by steak chips and lamb with mashed potatoes and beans. On the whole loved it.
Great spot on the river with lovely views. Service always good. Good food and selection of beers. Perfect for lunch on a sunny day.
Lovely experience at the boatman. Outdoor dining is spacious and well kept! The staff are lovely and attentive, food is reasonably priced. I forgot to take a photo of the food as it looked and smelt so good I just dig in! But I can vouch that it was very tasty! I had the lamb chops and chips which were perfectly done! And my friend had the shredded duck salad which was just amazing!
