Rustic pub with cask ales, serving ploughman's, burgers and Sunday roast, plus garden and play area.
Reliably the best Sunday lunch for miles around, topped by superbly friendly and efficient service. We love The Bluebell and would recommend this lovely country pub to all who are passing the area... except that if we do, we would be giving away our best kept secret!
Had a lovely meal really fresh and hot . Staff were amazing made us feel welcome there were 20 of us nothing was to much brilliant.....
We had such a lovely afternoon at The Bluebell. We had a double birthday party.Lucy and get staff were so very helpful, attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious. We opted for Sunday Roasts. All very lovely, we had pork, beef and chicken as our options. Yorkshire puddings very nice.Thank you for our lovely afternoon.
Great food and polite and friendly service all round excellent visit.
The Bluebell was a fantastic venue for my surprise Birthday party/meal. The staff were absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. It was clean and tidy and we all loved it. Thank you The Bluebell and your staff for making my Special day one to remember.
We had the loveliest afternoon today at the bluebell. The staff were absolutely amazing and made my father in laws 70th birthday so special. The food was delicious and every single person in our group of 22 would absolutely agree with me. Its in such a beautiful location with a fantastic beer garden. If you are looking for great food with friendly attentive staff this is the place for you. Thank you to everyone who looked after us today.
Lovely country pub with a big garden for the kids and has two goats to keep the little ones entertained. Really great menu and good for allergens. Gluten free food options and GF ale on tap. Brilliant service on top, whats not to like!
Really enjoyed our meals in a relaxing setting, despite being rather busy the service was very good too.
Recently had dinner with friends at The Bluebell, would happily recommend, the food was fantastic, especially the sticky toffee pudding! The staff are lovely, friendly and the service was excellent. Also fantastic value for money, lovely garden too.
Great setting in the north downs, pricey but thats what supermarkets have done to remote pubs, good beers and service.
Lovely pub and beautiful garden. There is a sectioned off childrens play area so its secure. There are also goats in an enclosure which is a weird but wonderful addition! Would definitely go back
Nice welcome by all the friendly staff, small menu but what we had was nice. Would revisit.
Great pub tucked away. Large garden with tree trunk tables.great biking destination
We had a 90th birthday celebration Sunday lunch at the Bluebell today, great pub, friendly staff and amazing food, well recommended 👍
Lovely pub in a lovely area, gets busy on a Sunday but they still found space for us to have a drink and nibbles after a local walk.
Spent the afternoon here for a big family gathering. I struggled with the menu on the day initially due to dietary requirements so chose off the kids menu which I was fine with. The amazing staff however sorted the dish into an adult’s version unbeknown to me which was simply a god send considering I hadn’t ate all day and this was about 2:30/3:00pm! 100% recommend and would visit again if I’m back in the area and the opportunity arises. Thank You!
The Bluebell is such a great pub. Great location, indoor and outdoor seating, great food and the staff are always really friendly. They are great with allergies and know everything thats in their dishes. The serving staff are always happy to check with the kitchen and make small tweaks to dishes to accommodate.
Wonderful salad lunch after a great walk. Brother-in-law from Brussels enjoyed the experience. Many thanks.
Fantastic as always. Staff are so friendly. Great for the kids
The food at The Bluebell is astonishing, the garden is huge and one area is covered. They own two goats, one called Phil and one called ben, they are young goats and can do amazing stunts!
Lovely pub with a lovely garden, however you cannot just turn up. We were not able to buy a drink and sit in the garden on the grass, despite there being empty tables. The food looked marvellous and staff were really attentive to those that had booked a table.
Great food all round for 6 of us with quick service. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely evening at the bluebell. Delicious food and delightful friendly staff.
Similar experience to others it seems - dont bother dropping by for a drink - bookings only - no ifs no buts.Since it was sunny, I said ok Ill just stand in the otherwise empty garden. Nope. Sit on the grass? Not on your nelly. They did manage to get us a table under the awning, which was appreciated, but frankly the experience and set up is just very weird and one I cant be bothered with negotiating again. I wasnt even sure if I could leave my seat. Was standing up allowed in this pub? I can only assume not.Staff were friendly enough, but obviously the person running the gaff has set their rules and there can be no deviations. Fair enough I guess, but not for me.
Ended up here on a recent walk. What a gorgeous pub with great food. A special mention to the short haired girl working the bar and garden food delivery, she was amazing. There was only one sandwich on the lunch menu, but she organised a few other choices with the chef and generally a very helpful social girl.A great location for parking, lunch and incredible local walks. If youre good for 10km, you can do a circular walk to Frenshsm Ponds from here.
First time here today for lunch. We were very warmly welcomed and had lovely friendly service from all four of the team members we dealt with. Food was great too. Will definitely be back! Thank you.
We visited the Bluebell today and what can I say that the service we received was outstanding. The food was just amazing there was nine people in our group and will definitely be returning. Super staff keep up the good work guy’s
We were a large walking group, we summited our food choices before our walk, and it was ready shortly after we returned from a 5 mile walk around Alice Holt forest.
Wonderful pub, brilliant owners.Run well, very friendly and positive staff.Highly recommend the food, so delicious and wonderful pub garden too. Can’t wait to visit again in the summer months
Family Sunday lunch after a walk at Alice holt. Great service from friendly staff. Good portions of roast dinner all tasty and well cooked. Will return- very dog friendly.
Lovely friendly service. Food was delicious and a good selection of ales and a locally sourced gin, which was also great. Would strongly recommend a visit. Dogs welcome.
A lovely country pub that must be a really great spot in the summer with all the outside seating. Inside very traditional in a nice way and the dried hops as decoration a nice touch.Staff incredibly friendly and service efficient with nothing too much trouble.Sunday lunch very good, beef cooked nicely for my tastes with a pink centre, maybe lacking a green veg and gravy a little thin for my northern standards but on the whole a nice lunch. The up selling of the cauliflower cheese surprised me as I havent had this for a very long time when dining out but hats off to them, we bought the sales pitch. That said, despite assurances of its popularity, it was a bit lacklustre and more like a cauliflower rice in sauce than the florets I was expecting but maybe thats how people like it here?Kids dishes fairly average, the burger especially, a bun should be sized appropriately and the one here engulfed the small burger patty but it was "ok" (my 9 year old has quite high standardsand priced fairly, a smaller bun or a bigger (or more "smashed"burger would have worked. All in all a nice experience and Id certainly revisit again for the Sunday dinner.
Lovely country pub, staff very friendly and helpful. Quite a wait for food and disappointing lamb. This cut needs long slow cooking as there is a lot of fat but if cooked correctly, is delicious and the meat should just fall away. I required a steak knife, the fat was inedible and hardly any meat, the beef in our party too was not so good. However, the veg, yorkshire pudding and gravy made the meal otherwise we would have complained. Desserts were delicious.
A truly lovely country pub, with superb food. The staff are really friendly and attentive.A great place for a relaxed Sunday with the family.
Came all the way from London to dine at this lovely place, had a Sunday roast, very tasty, and the garden is beautiful, also there where goats roaming around which was quite delightful. Staff where great also, they where all very welcoming and friendly .
Not a good experience.Food over priced for what you get.Missing anchovies and cheese from my Ceaser Salad. My husband had steak which was ok but there was little else on his plate. Our friend was disappointed the tripple cooked chips were awful and sent them backThe Blubell Mess we ordered for dessert was just cream with small pieces of meringues. We had a free round of drinks and price of salad knocked off bill by kind waitress Lucy
Hard to believe that after 5+ years living in the area thar this is the first visit. This is a great pub and this will not be the last visit. Expansive beer garden. Its big! Good menu with a mix of pub classics and more contemporary options. And the best bit, four real ale options. Great services and friendly, chatty staff. What a great pub. Thank you.
What can I say, we were looking for that a bit off the beaten track pub, something that people didnt just find by driving past it and we hit a gem. Fantastic garden to sit outside and eat in, plenty of space, great service and delicious food. Definitely a place that Id visit again.
I served my first pint at the age of 14, I was involve with 1 and 2 Michelin Starred restraunts designing kitchens. and was a General Manage of a large complex. I had lunch today, the Staff from their reseption to the bill, were attentive, the drinks were well presented and the food was delicious. well done. 5 stars from me on my 73rd .
Gorgeous place, food was fantastic (especially the crab salad). Staff were really accommodating and the outside space was lovely. Really looking forward to going back soon
Really good welcome but went downhill from there. We had 3 roasts - beef, lamb and pork. All had good flavour but bothe the beef and the lamb were far too chewy and were left; the pork was better but the bacon round it still had the rind on.At no point during the meal did anyone check on us and no comment was passed when 2 only half eaten dinners were cleared. The most attention we received was 2 separate waitresses coming yo ask us to pay. Will not be going back
Hadnt been here for years. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely village pub with covid safe procedures. Food was disappointing compared to former times. Curry was bland with no perceivable flavour. BBQ ribs although tender were flavourless with very little BBQ sauce, and a handful of cheap fries. The apple slaw was packed out with mayo.
We were looked after from the second we arrived with first class customer service from all the staff. Very good menu and you wont leave hungry. We are looking forward to going back asap and will tell all friends and family to go along asap.
Incredibly friendly, cheerful people, great atmosphere and a beautiful garden. A lovely pub surrounded by nature!
Typical pub menu, so no real surprises there. Plenty of out door seating space in a nice green setting. Service may be limited by the kitchen throughput and staff required to provided table service to the spaced out seating. Off the beaten track!
Beautiful location, with great attention to decor detail inside (noticed on my way to the looand outside in the garden. The ale was perfect, the food great, and the staff were very attentive. They even offered a hot water bottle as the evening chilled. Great achievement in these challenging times, well done.
Amazing Staters and desserts.Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Made me and my dog feel most welcome placing us next to the open fire and totally spoiling Chuck with doggy love and me with great service.Unfortunately the male owner was not so friendly when coming to my camper the next morning and telling me off for not asking for permission to park on his private car park and very rudely. He did not know Id spent most of the afternoon and evening in his wonderful establishment, when inviting a friend also and therefore spending a good deal of my well earned cash on his goods and wares! This persuaded me not to spend all day there Saturday also, so sorry ladies that gave great service... Your boss let you right down.
The atmosphere is good and I felt it was very Covid secure. I chose for lunch veal and my friend had sausage and mash. Both meals were very tasty. The staff were friendly and I would definitely recommend the Bluebell.
Lovely meal (had the slow cooked pork ribs - very tasty but much bigger serving than we could manage!and good drinks selection. What makes this place so special is the service. Everyone is personable and friendly but also very thoughtful and helpful too. Great place for kids. This is a find. I’m not local but would definitely make sure I go back when I’m next in the area.
Really nice place. We spent the morning at Birdworld and were famished after 3 hours of walking around. Googled for places to eat and yours popped up. Arrived but due to cv19 you only accepted booking so a quick phone call secured us a table for 2. We were greeted with a smile and shown our table. Drinks arrived quickly and the food soon after. My wife had the fish n chips which was mahoosive and very much enjoyed. I had the bluebell burger which was pretty good, were burger patty freshly made and medium rare 👍👌The triple cooked chunky chips were divine. Will certainly come again.
