The Blue Eye in Tepelene

Really nice place. We’ve been there in real offseason so there were not many people and it was beautiful. It has nice new path from parking one pity is there are no benches along the path.Entrance is 50lek for person.

A beautiful natural sight about 30 minutes by bus (for Gjirokasterfrom Saranda. Access is surprisingly easy with a paved footpath from the carpark area. Entry costs 50 lekë (as at 21/10/22). There are toilets and two places you can buy a coffee/cold beer/food. Getting back to Saranda is a bit more complicated if you are relying on buses. Good luck!

Hypnotic experience, definitely worth the trip! We were lucky to go there on a sunny day in October - the short hike from parking to the spring was enjoyable (wide and paved), there were very few people, nobody in the water, could peacefully enjoy staring into the depths of the spring. The ticket cost 50lek per person and the parking was free (leave the car in the spacious parking on the bottom, not worth to drive 500m to park in a crowded uneven dirt-roadside).

Really touristic and it looks more promising in the pictures. But there is hidden trail much more fun than the concrete Sidewalk (but sometimes really steep). Its uphill from the glass Platform above the blue eye. The trail is most time inside the Forest. It ends at the parking in Front of the big Dam.The Restaurant Close to the blue eye has a nice Ambiente and the water Sounds are really relaxing

30 minute driving from Sarande, 100 lek for entrance at the gate, you have to park your car next to the entrance and walk around 10 mins..Take your time to enjoy this beautifull place . 😍

Really overrated place, 50 LEK per person, 2km walk and you could see people swimming in that water ( even if there is a sign saying that swimming is forbiddenbetter to save your time, watch the picture on the internet and go somewhere else.

Wonderful place to visit. Very Jurassic and the water is so fresh and tasteful. I can understand to a certain degree why you are not meant to swim, but I think you should be able to and I did take the opportunity to, many people did so please do not judge. It’s a wonderful nature park and should be enjoyed as nature intends.

Had to hike 2.4 km up and down some relatively steep hills to get there. Its the size of a pool! Not really worth the effort. Traffic there is insane.

Thought it will be something more WOW! There are signs you can not swim but everyone does. Do not bother to bring your mask/snorkel.

Apart from the parking it worths to visit. Walking distance is cca. 3 km, hilly sometimes, so no flip-flop. Take a bottle of water and an umbrella with you in case of pouring rain.

Wonderful natural spot: unfortunately, wild uncontrolled tourism does not allow to properly enjoy it.To visit the blue eye you must walk up and down under the hot sun for something like 2,5 km: of course, nobody is gonna tell you before, so be prepared.

Very beautiful place. You can even drink water from fountain which is very delicious.

As special as this place is, its saddly overflown with tourists. Especially annoying are the instagram posers, stoping on narrow bridges and paths. Its tourist trap. In summer time its not worth the trip and walk. I hope its better off-seasson.

Take your time to enjoy this beautifull place . It takes a while to go there but after a 30 min walk you can enjoy a cold dive. If your healthy of course the water is cold 10° if you dont dive its also ok cause you will see an blue eye crystal clear water and an astonishing landscape . A painting made by mother nature . Its nice to visit but not in Summer. I was thinking that we can visit this place by car, but not, just must walk more than km up and down, on a hot sunny day. It was my worst experience this summer because we left Saranda earlier just for visiting this place. The water is to cold to swim, as we previously know but we were hoping its not thats 🥶 😁, thats our mistake. Kids were jumping, but Im sure thats the bad idea, also dangerous.

Sad to say, but the Blue Eye has become a typical tourist trap. Probably still worth it in the off season, but in July its overcrowded. People jump into the spring (which is really beautiful in itselffrom the viewing platform and just swarm all over the place, totally ruining the natural beauty of this place.To top it off the newly constructed access road has removed any shade that was previously there, as the trees lining the road have been cut back.

Very beautiful and interesting. You have to walk for around 30 minutes to see it, but the road is well made so its not difficult to reach. Only negative thing is that there is not enough space for parking.

Fantastic natural beauty. Be prepared to walk from the dam to the actual sight around half hour on a nice road but if you can, plan carful your time of arrival. Early in the morning or late afternoon as we went there in the middle of the day and felt like walking through the desert. There is a restaurant on the sight with delicious food and normal prices. We’ve been there on Tuesday and was still crowded. There is a sign against swimming in the river but…pick nice place for taking photos.

Just a beautiful natural phenomenon, this water spring is a must see when visiting albania. Just keep in mind the parking is a mess so give yourself plenty of time when there. Also the walk to the print is about 30 min walk in a cemented path if you do not like the heat go early in the morning or just not in the summer.

The place is magnificent and peacefully, you have to walk around 1.5Km from the parking to the place

What a beauty of mother nature. Spectacular how the water gets pumped out, the color and clarity of it. An amazing spectacle. Ann all around seem to be springs bringing more and more water into the river that passes by the Blue Eye. I kept looking at the volume of water the river carried and looked at the dry mountains around. There must be huge underground reservoirs that with no rain for a long time there is still this huge volume of water flowing.

Beautiful blue water. Only 50 eurocents to enter. It’s quite a walk to get there with ups and downs, we went midday which I wouldn’t recommend because of the heat. The walk to get to the blue lake isn’t very special. We took the alternative route back via the mountain, Which is a bit challenging with flipflops (hahabut way more beautiful and adventurous. To do so, take the road from the viewing point (if your on the plateau with your face to the blue eye, its the path on your left hand). There are no signs, but keep right and you’ll find your way back eventually (+- 45/50 min walk).

I am sorry to give this low review, but to me, this is a typical tourist trap. Walking 15-20 minutes one way to see a spring water 🙈It might be impressive to someone from the deserts, but in my home country, spring like this can be found under every stone (just kidding☀️

Another natural gem turned into a rgulated turist trap. The pool is about 1 km from the parking lot, it is fanced and people are not allowed in to the water. The place is scard by a souvenir shop and othe business. What a waste.

Incredible blue water and very very cold 😂.You have to park 15 min away but it’s 100% recommended.You can take a bath there, jump from a platform or just take a rest in the bar next to the blue eye.

Definitely worth a visit.Around 30 minute drive from Sarande, around 100 lek entrance at the gate, people park their car (Albanian styleright on the street next to the entrance.Around 1km walk on a newly designed, modern street (dont forget sunscreenuntil you reach the well.The blue eye itself is a small pond-like well where the water springs from the rock.. The water is crystal clear but be careful if you want to swim: 1: its quite cold (around 12 degree celsius, even during summer 2: the flow of the water is very strong.. if you are not a good swimmer, the river will push you downstream 10 meters immediately.. So probably not suited for children..Also there is a little shop with souvenirs.The whole area with the beautiful water is not very big, but you can also walk around in the surrounding woods if you want to spend more time there..

Nice place. The new road is in construction and also facilities. I can imagine how crowded it must be during the season. We were there in April.

Looking at the colors, you might think that the pictures have been edited. Well think again because the real thing looks just like you see it in the pics. When visiting the area dont miss this magical place in the middle of the forest.

Blue eye is fantastic and beautiful! The green and blue shades are authentic, clear to see through the entire length of river. The road to drive to parking lot blue eye is currently in construction. A lot of construction is ongoing right now in the winter season (March 2022to pave the road, we are only able to walk until turquoise photo area, but not further into the hiking trail. You will still be able to see the true colors of blue eye as attached picture (even prettier). On the way walking into the area, you will be able to see a few pretty views that arent turquoise yet such as the blue waters. We parked outside the construction area and walk along the construction road for around 1km (feels shorter honestly)

Magical quiet place to enjoy nature. Outside peak season is nice as well to visit.Currently there are construction work to pave the road to the site so it makes it more accessible but you can walk there without any issue.The hikes around the location don’t provide a better view than going near it.

My opinion about the blue eye is diverse. One the one had, you have the colorful spring with the freezing cold water. One the other hand some huge construction work is going on. The area is getting prepared for mass tourism… Beside that grief future, we enjoyed our visit in the low tourist season very much. Only a few tourists found there way to the Blue Eye.

Best place to visit.Water icy coldGood place to take pics1hr is more than enough to be stay there.Good if you have your own transportation and you can cover like Therminal water, Castle old market in 1 visit.

Its worth seeing at least once BUT BE ADVISED, 3 max 4 km of very harsh road, not paved.You will find there toilets and couple places to eat or have a drink (dont know the prices).STILL you can get there even with a Lamborghini driving slow.Hope I helped. 🙂

The food was fresh, the drinks cold, a great salad and quick service, all praise for the waiter. Nature is phenomenal, cold water and crystal clear. Pork is a little different than in Serbia, you should try it. Be sure to visit blue eyes restoran.

Beautiful source of water along the course of a small river, all surrounded by greenery and coolness. The colors of the river are extraordinary. ATTENTION! If you really want to enjoy the show you must arrive early in the morning or alternatively in the evening, otherwise after 9 the place becomes very crowded and a good experience can turn into a nightmare! The last stretch of the road is not paved but quite easy to travel. The small refreshments present do not serve breakfast, at most a coffee without anything else.

Nice place to chill during a warm day. You have to pay entrance fee on the bridge (200 ALL for two adults and a carwhile entering park and later you have free parking on the road or near restaurant. There are many people around the spring but there is enough of place for everyone. There are restaurants around so you can eat or have an ice cream there. Water is cold so be prepared 😉

Well worth a visit. Its an amazing place even though it might get crowded in busy hours. Would advice going after 14:00 as in the morning there are a lot of people in the summer.The water is really cold 10° Celsius, still you should try it.

We expected a beautiful nature -what it once definitely was- but its completely destroyed by all the mass tourists, their cars and trash! If you walk from the bus station to the blue eye, be prepared; there will be lines and lines of cars waiting to enter/ driving right next to you on a dusty road. So you will not only get all the waste gas in your face but also all the dust from the street. On hot days thats just perfect.... Finally at your destination there will be no chance to enjoy the nature. You get 5 seconds to peak into the blue eye before people start jumping in again. It seems like for them its a fun water park. This place is just too sad.

Breathtaking what a wonderful place well worth a swim… I’m giving it a 4 stars because you pay to get it there’s lots of restaurants also but there was a quiet abit of trash around the place I just hope they find a way to keep it clean in the future.

The spring at Blue Eye is impressive. The inviting restaurant that is built over the rushing river is a tourist trap. The food is mediocre and the waiter double charged us for almost everything and when we caught his mistake, instead of apologizing for the mistake, he was visibly disappointed that he had to redo the bill. Double check your bill.

I will say this: Unbelievably good SERVICE! Polite, welcoming businesses all over the place, clean restrooms, despite the great number of visitors. The photographs of the hundreds of visitors speak better of the beauty of this place and it’s peculiarities than any description.

Its really beautiful place with fresh water spring. We passed a great time there. The only problem was parking, cause people were leaving cars beside the road instead on 3 parkings near the spring. At the end it was difficult to leave the place cause the road was so narrow.

The water was beautiful, blue and clear, when I went there it was full of people. The Blue Eye in your camera might be full of models and models😂 But its a beautiful place, dont forget to look for the eyes👁

Absolutely worth seeing. If you plan to swim in the lake get ready for a very cold water. There even is a place to jump into the water so the brave can show off.

This is really amazing place. Very beautiful nature and crystal water are worth to come to this place. The “Blue Eye” is natural karst deep-water spring and its real deep is still unknown. There are a few restaurants around, so its possible to have a cup of coffee with amazing view. The only one thing is a gravel road and very dusty but it is not a big deal. So this place is highly recommended to visit.

Beautiful spot. Natural spring water coming out of the ground at 7.5 m3 per second. Water temperature is 10°c. Dont leave without a dive

This is a marvelous place, a gift from nature. The water is crystal clear and luckily it is well preserved and there is not trash there, although unfortunately there was some on the grass. The road to get there was not asphalted as it was still in progress, but still it wasnt too hard to reach.

Unforgettable experience. You must visit if you are on the coast. It takes only one hours far, but this nature is like in dreams. Insects, trees, waterfall before and geyser are beautiful. You can came there with your car, near lake. Entrance for car is 200 leka. Now they works on road to Blue eye and works on entrance to natural park. Must visit. Recommend.
