Relaxed pub offering ales and British food, plus high-walled garden and live sport on flatscreens.
🚇 Kennington🍺 £6.00 Heineken❤️ A welcoming Kennington boozer that appeared on the big screen..The Black Prince is located in a residential side street just off busy Kennington Road. The nearest tube is Kennington which is around a five walk away..This pub may be familiar to you as it features in the film The Kingsman. The pub was used in a couple of scenes, one scene was prior to Harry (Colin Firth’sbar fight beating up the local wideboys and one were Eggsy (Taron Egertondid donuts in a Subaru (link to scene in bio). This is a traditional pub which has a central bar taking centre stage. The bar is clad in dark wood and has a wonderful “Double Diamond” sign at the top. Around the walls are knights shields with different types of heraldry symbols. This pub is big on showing live sporting events, I managed to catch the second half of the Fulham v Liverpool game whilst visiting. At the back of the pub is a cosy sun-trap beer garden which also has a TV showing sport..The beer choice was full of popular keg options and also two cask. I chose a pint of Heineken which was nice enough and average London lager price. The food menu is full of traditional British favourites and a variety of comfort options, fish and chips cost £15. On Sundays, hearty roast dinners are available but be sure and book in advance..I visited mid afternoon on a Saturday and the pub had a fair few in and the atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed. The clientele was a mix of locals and some pub crawlers. I was served by a nice member of staff who served with a smile..The @theblackprincepub is a very welcoming pub and definitely one for the traditionalist’s and lovers of live sport. I really enjoyed visiting this quality SE11 pub, get it on your list..ℹ️ Information correct on visiting 30/07/22
Great Sunday lunch,Fantastic topside beef.
Proper boozer this. Good beers, atmosphere and food. Good for sport, pints and its quite intimate so good for date probly.
If you need food, don’t go there. I’ve been waiting for my food for almost 1h. And it was even worse for some others at my table. They definitely served before me tables that arrived after me.
For me, the Black Prince will always be the quintessential London pub (and my favourite). Love the staff and the regulars. I’ve had some of the best nights here.
Great pub great food great staff
Beer in plastic cups 👎
Great pub and good staff
Incredible experience! The service was amazing, and the food was even better. Best wet wings in London.
Great pub, only ever so slight issue was the crowd(bit tory)
Best Sunday lunch in London!! Oh, and best Bloody Marys too!! Never disappoints, great staff and dog friendly to boot! A brilliant boozer all round!!
Staff is wonderful, the setting is great AND the Sunday roasts are to die for
Cozy atmosphere, great Sunday Roasts, amazing staff!
Great pub, great food, great beer and great atmosphere - best place to watch the game in the area!
Great Food On A Sunday, Can Be Busy, You May Need To Book A Table
Found us a table after being let down elsewhere and can honestly say this was one of best Sunday lunches I’ve had in a long while. Highly recommended. Good beers too!
27th January we had our mums wake here, the food was out standing. Me and my sister cant fault anything at all.mark the owner looked after us and our family so well, thank you so much and we will be back for a Sunday roast!Denise & Tina
Amazing pub that offers American football. The owner and bar keeper were accommodating in every way. We visited on our last night before returning to the States and this friendly, quaint location couldnt have been better. We met the nicest people and enjoyed sitting by the fire. We were informed by the locals that the Kingsman had been filmed there. Fabulous experience!
This place does a mean Sunday roast dinner! Its certainly the best one in London so far!! The portion is a great size, its served hot not lukewarm/cold (an experience thats often encountered at other pub lunchesand served with a good, selection of fresh vegetables and trimmings with a gravy to totally die for! All of this is set in a friendly, not too busy, warm, clean pub. A good variety drinks are served and finally, it has to be mentioned they have very clean toilets and a cure secluded beer garden.
Its really nice in there. I can only recommend it. But sadly there was a fight, and some random old man did beat up some plebs. But even tho it was a very nice visit and its worth a visit.
This pub does such an amazing Sundays Roasts!! It is also nice as theres a garden inside.
Food was absolutely delicious. I went for the roast chicken this time. Lovely food. Great staff. Would heartily recommend.
Popped in on a Sunday evening for a friends birthday. Pub was busy, all tables inside and out taken. They had just finished serving Sunday Lunch which was obviously very popular. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the landlords dog sat on a stool at the bar, vetting customers! Very dog friendly pub, with several dogs present. Landlords dog, though, very much in charge.Great pub to visit if youre in the area; worth a ten minute walk from Imperial War Museum.
Fantastic little pub great food and a fantastic welcome.Left my scarf behind and the lovely waitress chased after us to return it this is what I call customer care.Welcome back Black Prince we have missed you
I have given The Black Prince five stars because unusually, its a good, honest London pub that doesnt over-promise and then under-deliver. We came for Sunday lunch, expecting a solid traditional roast in a friendly, unpretentious environment, and thats exactly what we got.Its a proper local and clearly the locals love it, because even in these trying times for hospitality, the pub was busy. A steady flow of people coming for lunch, many with dogs (which the pub dog watched with interest), which is a great endorsement for a pub. In hard times, people think the BP is worth the effort and the requirement to eat.The staff are efficient and friendly, the landlord is a character (which very pub needs). The food was excellent by the way. The pork belly was outstanding (an immense portionand perfectly cooked. The roast beef was flavourful , the veg plentiful (as was the gravyand the big Yorkshire puds were bang on.Oh and chocolate mousse was the perfect ending.Dont come here expecting fancy service and complicated menu ideas, because you will be disappointed. Come for a great London pub experience with a solid Sunday roast and you will leave happy.
I went to the black prince today for a family Sunday lunch. During Covid you worry about whether its safe to go to the pubs etc. However it was clear to see that they have taken control of the situation perfectly. The tables were continuously cleaned, there were facemasks at the door in case youd forgotten it, the toilets checked regularly and I even saw the staff check their temperature, the care taken shows that they care about the staff and their customers. The waitress knew exactly who was arriving and had a list of reserved tables the communication between her and the kitchen was brilliant. When moving around the pub you had to wear your mask but when seated with your family and eating it was fine to remove it. On arrival I was greeted by all staff members in the pub, in particular Jazeena was extremely friendly and helpful, she is certainly an asset to the pub. As mentioned above we had the Sunday lunch, between us we had the pork belly, lamb and chicken and these were all absolutely beautifully prepared, the food was delivered to the table hot and the service was efficient and effective. We were asked if we needed anything further and if we were enjoying the meal and even got a doggy bag to take home. We all left completely content. The atmosphere was pleasent and family friendly, there was a TV for the sports fans and some music playing at a reasonable level too. An ideal place to take the family. 5 stars from us. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you very much for a pleasent afternoon.
Hands down the best Sunday roast Ive had in a pub
We like the Black Prince. The Sunday roast is just great and the fish and chips and the burgers we had as take a ways were also eccellent. Hey the beers arent too bad either and the staff are so friendly.
Great pub serving up great food and drinks. Really chill atmosphere, some very good Sunday Roast (pork belly is a must tryand burgers.
I went to the Black prince pub today with Friends to celebrate my wedding anniversary, the staff were great and very helpful and friendly. Mark the owner is a credit to his pub,We had food from the new limited menu and it was lovely. The staff made us all feel relaxed, comfortable and safe at these unusual times. I recommend this pub to all. Thank you to all the staff for a great experience at The Black prince. Thanks Dianne Young
Such a friendly place, went with a group of 10, very attentive and efficient staff. More importantly for us they are dog friendly, our pooch got his own lunch from the owner which was very much appreciated. All the plates were clean at the end , we had a variety of roasts and all were lovely..will be visiting again , I recommend you book as it was super busy :)
Regularly go here to watch the football here. Very nice pub with a good variety of beers. Food is good pub grub with their burgers being a stand out, particularly on Mondays when they are half price. Plenty of screens to watch the football on too.
Great little pub, real pub vibe, filled with locals, and showing sports. Not the best range of beers, but who cares, when you are in such cool spot? Oh, and look out for the Charlie Chaplin sign outsideHe lived just across the road!
Great neighborhood pub with friendly staff. We drank here but did not know it was the set of the kingsman fight.
The service was great and the Beer was pretty nice, also a very pretty looking pub. Though, the specific Burger we ordered was terrible - the patty was awful and even if the rest was totally fine, it didnt taste well because of the beef used.Would recommend to go there, but not to order a beef Burger.
Lovely little place this. Gorgeous woody interior (if youve seen the Kingsman movies, this is where they film the pub scenesbeautifully kept ales, and if youre a hungry meat eater, the burgers will make you very happy - especially on Monday and Thursday at £6.50! Theres a nice wee garden too.
Visted there around 9pm to grab a quickbite. Although the bar is open til midnight, the kitchen cloes at 8:30pm. Also known for the location where the movie “Kingsman” was filmed.
Spotted the The Black Prince on Google whilst in another pub & thought aint that The Kingsman pub? Low and behold; on the outside it is. On the inside it might take some imagination. It was nice, clean & for a Monday pretty busy compared to some in area I previously visited...I think the football helped.Half price burgers circa £6 tonight. I didnt partake but there was a just eaten plate of ribs on the table and it was commented that they looked good.I had a Pale Ale (dont recall the namebut it decent. Would go again for sure.
After a friend told me about the pub exterior’s connection to the Kingsman film, I had to check it out from the outside and then pop in for a pint. It was early in the afternoon, so the pub was pretty quiet yet the staff and patrons were all very friendly to a stranger. There wasnt anything too special about the drink and food menu though. The pub interior was rather ordinary too, but the cleanliness could be improved.
Great pub, really warm and friendly staff. Lots of screens downstairs to watch the football downstairs (no soundbut there is a room upstairs with sound as well. Best pork belly in London, hands down! 👌👌😍😍
Overall a good pub. I personally came just for the Kingsman connection as a filming location. I was sincerely disappointed to find that the interior of the pub was not at all like that depicted in the film (maybe they built a set with a different design or they remodeled?), but the experience was very pleasant overall. Good staff and good food.
A striking Tudoresque pub, just off the main road. Great choice of beer, even Bath ales invading London with a pint or two of Gem. Showing the football and food on offer. A great little pub for a visit.
One of my favourite pubs. Nice friendly staff, great gin selection and a fantastic pint of Guinness. This place is worth the 15m walk at lunch from my office just to get the Chicken Basket with curry sauce and chips. Fresh chicken and the chips/curry sauce are better than a Chinese takeaway. In the middle of a Vauxhall housing estate with a large garden area and several TVs for the sport. Usually has a pub dog running round with lots of locals. Also if you like the film Kingsman, it was filmed here!
Great pub, good guvnor and fantastic Sunday lunch
Nice pub BUT I wouldnt order food there. Never tried the food but having a dog in a public place where food is served is not good or legal. Dont get me wrong, I love dogs and their dog is quite friendly and timid. Bar staff friendly and chatty. Reasonably priced.
Nice place with reasonable food.... No cider on tap but did have a lovely gin of the week....
Its not exactly the same as a movie, but its a nice atmosphere.
The exterior is known from the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service. Inside however, it is different from the silver screen. Very nice and welcoming. A genuine British pub, if ever Ive been to one. Serves a handful of real ales alongside cider and traditional or imported lagers.
The roast was pretty awesome. We just had to wait for it a bit too long.
Love this pub. Decent, unfussy and affordable food with really good deals on during the week. Nice atmosphere thanks to very friendly bar staff who seem to enjoy working there. Multiple screens always showing the sport (theyve got Sky Sports and can show two channels at the same time). If I could make one improvement Id ask them to get a craft beer on tap. Other than that its great.
