The Black Pig - Modern European restaurant in Cork, Ireland
Cracking tapas restaurant in Kinsale. Really lovely food and a fantastic wine list. The staff were wonderful. Highly recommended.
Brilliant, tasty tapas. Lovely buzzy atmosphere on a Sunday night. Very knowledgable and helpful staff, who really care about the food and wine.
Amazing food, amazing wine and amazing staff. A must when in Kinsale.
It was just amazing! The food, the wine, the place! I recommend at 200%
Absolutely disappointed. I went to this place several times before and had great experience, food was great. Booked dinner for anniversary.. service was great as usual but absolutely nothing to eat on a menu, choice of cold tapas only: cheese, antipast, olives, salad and some other small stuff but only 1 warm dish (risotto), no prawns, no fish, no duck.. nothing, had to order risotto twice cuz we were simply hungry. Really recommend to rethink the menu. Doubt we will come back again unfortunately.
Booked the Black Pig for Saturday evening. Everything was stoatin. The staff were vibrant and knowledgeable. The wine was delicious. The food was beyond delicious. So good we went back the next night hoping to squeeze in. They squeezed us in. Brilliant
Got a table without reservations - they always hold a couple seats for walk ins. Had a fantastic meal with great service. With a bottle of wine and dessert, dinner for three came to 125 euro. Best meal I’ve had in a while for a great price. Highly recommended. Would go back.
Young children not welcome apparently. We were told the only place available was outside. But not a minute later a larger group of people (without reservation as wellwere kindly invited inside.
The crab ravioli is next level! Definitely try the mushrooms on toast too and highly recommend taking their steer on wine recommendations as youll end up tasting some really interesting wines which youd never find yourself! Love this place so much
This was a truly amazing culinary experience. They offer simple dishes with little surprises that have been balanced so well it makes the dish extraordinary. 100% recommend.
Brilliant restaurant. Friendly, attentive service and delicious food. Good value for money overall too. Will be returning!
We had a fantastic night in the Black pig. Menus & wine list were incredible with a great selection. Service was very attentive from start to finish, Rowan was a delight. Worth a visit when in Kinsale.
Fantastic place for wine and food
Miriam was a great waitress with wonderful recommendations. The Iberico ham was superb and the entire meal was delicious. Highly recommend
The Simon from Prim’s bookstore that recommended to me this restaurant. It’s a great atmosphere, beautiful decoration, great wines, nice music on stereo and delicious tapas. The staff is great too, I was super welcoming there. Please let me know the artist name of the 2 big paintings in the mean room.Sure I will be back, thank you.
I would highly recommend The Black Pig! Fantastic atmosphere, fantastic menu with a good choice of amazing dishes, amazing team and quality wine selection. Best in Kinsale.
This restaurant came as a recommendation from a colleague in Dublin. If youre in Kinsale or anywhere close, this is an absolute must restaurant. The service was absolutely fantastic, with super friendly people. The food was everything we hoped it would be and more. We ordered almost everything on the menu and several things twice for our group of five. This is not a small.menu either. The wine list is enormous and EXCELLENT! If you call and cant get in keep trying as it is well worth the effort!
Great find. We had a great evening with very good food & wine. The ravioli was the best pasta I have ever tasted!!
Very friendly waitress and nice outside area to eat. Food was absolutly brilliant. Great taste!
Very nice spot with a fun wine list covering most styles. The food, especially the jamon serrano pata negra.
AMAZINGLY AMAZING!Staff amazingHospitality amazingFood amazingly amazingSo love this place. You need to book, no chance of a drop in.
We had a first class meal, with first class service. From start to finish, every bit a 5 star experience
The first thing to know is that this is a wine bar, not a restaurant. There is no distinction between starters, mains and sides, yet all are the same price, meaning that you end up ordering a starter for €17.50. All portions are small. Ingredients are not local and the focus is on appearances from start to finish, which shows that the food is really not the priority. Dishes like “Parisian baguette” (frozen), wild local mushrooms…with garlic and Parmesan, and spicy chorizo risotto speak for themselves. Hopefully you will take this comment seriously.
Better oysters here than Man Friday. My recommendation: get the fried monkfish but skip the duck with Korean sauce (which appears to be an oyster mignonette with soy sauce)
Stopped in for dinner this evening. Food was nice but we left after an hour because the service was atrocious. There was a lot of staff who were very busy but they didnt come near our table. Very disappointed. Had to ask 2 different waiters for bread before we got it. Would have spent a lot more time and money there had they been even remotely attentive.
Great experience. Good food with a Spanish feel. Boquerones were like in Seville. Nice mix of meat & cheese.
Highly recommended. Knowledgeable staff, nicely curated wine selection, and each dish thoughtfully created.
Restaurant was very busy but as the evening was pleasant they were able to accommodate us outside which ended up being very enjoyable. The food selection was sublime and the drinks equally so.The service was cheerful and so accommodating. Will definitely come again but will definitely book in advance.Top marks.
Wonderful selection of wines. Fantastic by the glass options from near and far. Small plates that are actually quite abundant, and friendly casual service. Great experience and great first night in Ireland and County Cork.
Amazing food and wine. Very friendly staff.
Best food I’ve had yet in my 3 trips to Ireland. We enjoyed the croquettes, chicken liver pâté, oysters, risotto, charcuterie and the duck over a lovely bottle of red. This spot had an amazing atmosphere to end our time in Kinsale. Service could be improved but overall highly recommend this spot if you’re craving great food with great company.
The best little find in Kinsale! Marvellous menu, extensive wine list, organic wines. Delicious tapas, mains & desserts. Ambience charm and excellent staff service made our weekend! Will be back again & again to this fab spot❣️
Absolutely excellent wine selection. If youre into wine this is the place for you! The food menu is 1 page and the wine list is 12! Everything we tasted was delicious. The food is very good as well. We got the charcuterie board, cheese board and the vegetarian antipasto board to start. Followed by some more dishes, one of the favourites was the smoked mackrel paté. It was a very relaxing and civilized way to eat.
Best restaurant in Kinsale. Relaxed, cozy vibe with amazing food and wine. The staff were wonderful and everything we ate was absolutely delicious - do yourself a favour and order the mushrooms on toast!
We eat in the Black Pig last night, a party of seven for a birthday celebration.Friendly and superb service and delicious food all round. We ordered almost every plate on the menu and each was as delicious as the next. The oysters, prawns, croquettas, mushrooms, cheese board were delicious. The bread with the Modena Balsamic and extra virgin oil wereso so tasty. Our waiter, Helena was excellent.Great night out and a super venue.
Black Pig is a beautiful restaurant, our first time eating there and we will definitely be back. The food, the wine, the cocktails and desserts were all delicious. Informative, professional and polite staff made our eating experience top class.
What an amazing wine and tapas bar! This restaurant features an outstanding wine list to please the pickiest of aficionados and all of the right charcuterie and cheese selections to go with it! If youre looking for mains, The Black Pig regularly has equally impressive dishes that you can keep to yourself or share with your company!
What a spot 🥇Make a booking no matter what time they have. The atmosphere is perfect, you’d swear you were somewhere far more tropical. The staff are sound and the food is all next level.Got a mixture of dishes and the winner was the smoked mackerel pâté. I’d eat it out of a bucket with a spoon. There’s also an original Seamus Heaney letter up on the wall (tells you everything about the care taken in the place).Great value to 🥾Kinsale is known for its grub but this is the best spot in town 🙌🏼
Excellent service and delicious food all round. We ordered a good few plates and everything was spot on. The special was croquettas and they were delicious. Our waiter, Helena really took care of us! She was just amazing! Reservation system a bit of a faff but other than that fantastic experience.
During our 10-day trip around Ireland this was our very best meal. We got so engrossed we basically forgot to take pictures! 🤣 Every dish (and we did order a lot of them 😇was excellent, and the staff were equally kind and helpful throughout our meal. A fantastic wine list, to top it all off. NB: reservations have reopened! Reserve!!! The restaurant gets absolutely hopping but if you can (as we didget it, then the back garden is highly recommended.
This place had been recommended to us so we were looking forward to trying it out. We were not disappointed. Everything from the decor to the service to the food was superb. Started with the croquettas - 4 small spheres of delight. This was followed by the crab ravioli which was delicious and the mackerel pate refreshing and light. Great wine selection and friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend that you visit - we will certainly be back next time we are in Kinsale.
We walked by this restaurant and decided spontaneously to have dinner there. Luckily someone canceled so we got a table. The restaurant is tiny and very cozy. There is a little terrace in the back with very nice lighting and decoration which makes you feel like you’re in a mediterranen country. The staff is extremely friendly and makes a big effort to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The menu is small and very clever. All dishes we had were cooked to perfection. The chef really focuses on combining the flavors of the different ingredients while making sure that none of these flavors is dominating so the dishes are perfectly balanced. Every dish is an amazing experience and leaves you exited for the next one. At this point I need to mention the dessert. I had the mango frozen yogurt which doesn’t sound special - but it absolutely was. I have never had a better frozen yogurt. The flavor was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have a genuine, honest and very clever flavor experience combined with a beautiful ambience and super friendly staff - and all of this for a very reasonable price. There is absolutely nothing to complain about and I can’t wait to go back there. Thank you for a fantastic evening!
This place was awesome!!! Delicious food such lovely ambience and staff so glad to have come here rather than one of the typical overpriced fish restaurants near byHighly recommended for dinner or even just a wine and tasting plate, our last night in Ireland, leaving on a high for sure!!!
Beautiful food, decor, wine, waiter. Faneloys experience from start to finish. Special thanks to Daniel for all his help choosing courses and wine.
Wow, wow, wow. Amazing everything! The wine selection was out of this world and the staff were so patient and helpful in helping us choose the perfect wine. Then, the food! We had mostly meat and cheese - it was a culinary journey to be remembered. Great ambience too!
Lovely little place. The photos of the decor don’t give it justice! The service was lovely, the plates of food delicious. Special mention for the mushroom toast which was one of the best mushroom dishes I have had!
A rather nice wine bar with nice food options. What makes this place great is the nice service and the restaurants atmosphere. They have a little outdoor where you can eat too. The main courses/antipasti are quite tasty. However, the dessert, the special of the day, rosscaberry strawberries with whipped cream, while still good was not extraordinary either. The location is in OConnell upper street so no nice view available. I highly recommend this place if you wish to have a nice evening.
Amazing place. Not exactly a secrete. Beautiful garden courtyard. If you don’t have a reservation, get there at 5:15 pm and beg. No not really, either sit at the bar or tell them you will eat fast. Try the raviolis, they are amazing. The shrimp is tasty, but it’s softer shrimp. Service is great. The place is warm and inviting. Great wine list. This is a not-to-miss place. Worth going out of your way for.
Really great. Small tapas style portion but great choice and quality. Very extensive wine list. Great service and very accommodating for children. Highly worth it and recommended. Has to be the best place in Kinsale
Amazing place. The set up and atmosphere is very cool. Terrific menu, great wine list and good tentative staff. We had antipasto and a few other dishes to share .... Had a couple of glasses of wine and talked about it the whole way home.
