The Big Easy Phnom Penh - in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The best Hostel in Phnom Penh ! Amazing & lovely staff and good atmosphere. Will come again :)
A place definitely a expat needs to go view.A lot of drink specials. Food is amazing and experience is outstanding.
If price is your main concern, its hard to argue with $5 a night for dorms or $10 for privates. However we stayed in a private room as a couple. The room was not very clean and we reported a leaking bidet gun in the toilet twice but no one came to fix it or look at it. WiFi not the best either, tended to be unusable in the evening. Bar downstairs is relatively cheap and food looked good but it is an older crowd and not ideal as a common hostel area. Location is very good though
This was actually a very comfortable hostel for me, they have a pool table, bar, and had a game night one of the nights I was there. If youre sleeping there, you may not be able to sleep early because music doesnt stop until 12 or 2.
I like that box bed because it’s dependent not feeling annoy other roommate, and it’s not too small in the box. and we compare to the price to others, it’s cheaper. and big open space for restaurant on the ground floor, look fun.
Called in for their ever consistent fish and chips. Good choice and value.
Our favourite bar in Phnom Phen, amazing food and lovely staff. A home from home feeling and you have to try the Vodka Joss shot 👍🏼
Great breakfast 👌 top tip - get a Bloody Mary to go with it 🥤
Good bar and well run by its young English owners. Service is ok but it can seem take a long time to be served. Clientele are mostly fine and the food is good
Must go!Ive been going here for 5 years whenever Im Phnom Penh. Always perfect experience, they will go the extra mile!Party at night, amazing breakfast in the morning.I live far from the city, but whenever Im here, I always go for the big easy breakfast, you wont find a better full English breakfast in Phnom Penh!Perfect for the backpacker! All the attractions are close by. Any question you have they are happy to answer.I will go here every time in Phnom Penh, you should too!
Good locationFine hostel, staff are not good nor the services are goodNot much facilitiesBed was comfortableWe told them checkin early but they didn’t give room even after the empty bed was thereWe have to wait till thr chevk in time later thry gave the room
Always love coming here for its laid-back ambience and filling big breakfast. Perfect to soak up remnants of a morning hangover from bar hopping in Phnom Penh. They dont have many service staff on the floor, so getting their attention takes a bit of waving. Other than that, the staff are friendly and helpful.A regular spot of ours every trip here.
Cool place to hangout and comfortable dorms with pod like beds so very private for a dorm. Recommend sleeping 1st or 2nd level as 3rd can be a bit tricky at times and requires serious climbing
Great location. Good pub/restaurant downstairs at reasonable prices. The dorm rooms, however, were mainly packed with immigrant workers who would talk, argue, blab on their phones and be loud as possible all day long. Many of whom were sleeping three men to one dorm bed. The staff didnt react to any complaints made by fellow backpackers.
Fun DJ on Fridays with beers for $1 and wine for $2.
Good western food, especially vegan breakfast and Buddha bowl
I didnt stay here but by all accounts the backpackers I spoke to couldnt fault it. As for the bar, staff, food, prices and 2 for 1 happy hours... I couldnt fault those either. A great place to meet great people.
Easily one of the best hostel/bar combinations Ive ever come across. Great pool table, super friendly staff and theyll help you with bus/tour bookings. Bunch of legends. Great burgers. Generous tequila shots. 10/10.
Great backpacker bar. Overall host are friendly and a really mix and interesting vibe to the entire bar.
Good backpackers hostel in city centre close to the National Museum and Royal Palace. There is a good vibe and friendly owners. Prices are fair and drinks and food good. Evenings are a bit louder in the bar but you can meet many westeners here.
I stayed in the dormitory and the place is very clean and well kept.the atmosphere is very live.one of the best backpackers place I have ever encountered and the bed was very cheap.
Nice bar. The customers are young. 20 to 30 ish. So if thats you go
Cool busy bar in the central area of Phnom Penh.It had a great atmosphere, a bright and energetic place.A great spot to watch sports and meet friends.Pool table was a bonus
Reviewing the bar only. Great bar in the heart of central Phnom Penh with a mixture of expats and backpacker tourists. Food and service both great. My only gripe is Angkor on draft and not Cambodia, but there are adequate alternatives including microbrew bottles. and good strong mixed drinks if thats your thing.
Best place for backpackers in the town. Dorms, rooms. Pool table and really cheap drinks. Top staff and really great management. Can help you with any question. Know this people and the place for 6 years. Review from an expat.P.S. food for reasonable price.
Incredible hostel with elite hospitality, staff and food menu. It’s British owned so if you’re a Brit who adores a roast on a Sunday you definitely shouldn’t miss it. Beds are comfortable, showers are great. Couldn’t say a bad thing about the place. 10/10 ❤️ Thank you for having us!
It’s a good hostel from What I’ve seen! Staff greeted us very friendly, you get a free beer voucher (wich is unfortunate when you don’t drink). I only gave 4 stars because there’s construction going on so everyone was awaken at 7am due to heave hammering you couldn’t possibly ignore... you have a lit of Space in your bunk bed even tho it doesn’t get as cold in the top rows (3 bunks from the bottom to topbut it’s fine it’s still better than no ac! The showers bathrooms are nice and clean and you get a locker that fits the whole backpack! The mattresses are quite uncomfortable to be honest but it’s fine for a few nights! If I could have slept longer I’d have given it 5 stars for sure!!
What you see/hear is what you get.Very well managed bar, didnt try the hostel.Highly unlikely Ill ever stop by again.I dont know why this place is popular.I live in 2022.
When you are paying 3.5 dollars for premium spirits you should be able to get wifi would of stopped for a sunday meal but needed wifi
Staff was incredibly pleasant and polite, but was routinely lied to about the wifi not working. I had to get the password from another guest who slept next to me. Wifi worked fine.
very noisy party hostel. Interestingly many guests are over 50 or 60 and very few young backpackers. Aussie guy is the bartender and receptionist both with several kmer helpers. More of a western hostel vibe than a local one. The sport channel is always on with mostly white people and almost no Asian travelers here!!!
Excellent range of food and drinks in a bar that oozes character. A real pearl of the orient. Good place to catch the sport on the big screens plus the live music and quiz nights keep you entertained.A bit of advice... Dont challenge Tom to a game of snail chess as your bound to loose!
Good breakfast, and Sunday lunch and 98% friendly staff. Free pool. Cool place.
From the moment you arrive, from the free beer to the staff, you feel so welcome.Adam made a new country, a new town feel familiar within 30 minutes. After an hour or so, it felt like we were home catching up with a friend.Free pool helps breaks the ice with other travellers.
Great place, great staff, great atmosphere...It was not my first visit to the Big Easy, but Im still always pleasantly surprised by the relaxed and jovial atmosphere. The drinks are cold, the food is simple but very tasty...What more can you want? 😊Like everyone else, these are difficult times for anyone in the hospitality sector, so I want to wish the Big Easy team the best of luck to see it through... And Id recommend them to anyone 😊
Very good place. Helpful staff. Delicious food in a bar on the ground floor. You can buy tickets in the hostel in cheaper prices than in the internet, dont miss it.
A place where you can watch the game, chat with friends who dont want to watch the game and generally have a good evening. They have numerous options of any game you want to watch, sounds ridiculous but they will put it on one of the projectors or TVs.What a sports bar should be, but its not a sports bar, its an everything bar. Its seemless how the owners make you feel welcome and continue on their way. Brilliant spot, great music, gotta go and prove me wrong.
$1 draft beer and lots of cocktail/happy hour specials. Food leaves much to be desired. However, a great place to meet up for a drink, grab a game of pool, or watch live sporting events.
Hostel is good, providing all of the necessities: AC, warm water and everything is clean. Dorm was quite big but this working. Youre bed had a personal charger, light and curtains, so you had a nice retreat area.Only problem for me was the loud music. The dorm was directly on top of the bar, so you were having constant noise until they closed. (I am not one of the bar/party people).
We found our stay here decent to be honest. The staff were sound and it does great food/drinks. It is cheap to stay here too. As it is dormitories, we had noise at times but only what we expected anyway. They were clean and spacious capsules. Shared toilet/showers on each floor weren’t bad either. Would stay again if in Phnom Phen..
Beds are in a cubical style that are nice and spacious. Dorms were kept clean and well maintained with good AC. Communal showers and toilets were maintained well also. The food in the bar area is very good and the place in general has a friendly and social atmosphere
The co owner was extremely welcoming. Very interactive social space downstairs and comfortable beds in the dorm room. It was surprisingly quiet in the room despite holding 15-20 people or so. Good location too.
Positives:Good and cheap hostel close to the royal palace. There are boxes with a queen bed size in a dormitory, it can be either for one person (5 USD per nightor for a couple (7,5 USDif you fit there. Room is clean, each sleeping box is equipped with an electrical socket, USB port and a lamp. Bathroom was ok, shower with a hot water.Negatives:There is a bar downstairs which was a bit disturbing because of loud music in a late evening. I missed a lounge room where people could sit and chill out in the hostel. The restaurant was to noisy to me for this purpose.
Pros:Theres a bar downstairs which creates a social environment. The staff is friendly. Bed area is spacious and they even have lockers bag enough for most backpacks. Bathroom was decently clean and its an affordable price for the dorm.Cons:You can get food and drinks cheaper down the street, even with happy hour. The beds were not that comfy.I was in PP for a few days and wished I spent all my days there. I only booked one day at a time but by the time I wanted to extend, they were full.
Its a decent hostel with friendly staff who have been helpful, the food is pretty good. Only gripes are all 3 nights when i stayed theres building working going on and they started hammering and drilling extremely loudly(even my ear buds didn’t helpat 7am!!! Then would stop around 9am.. but by then the whole hostels awake. Irritating. The other thing is the 3 layer bunks, i know its like they can‘t change it now but its hard to live on the top floor, cant reach your stuff easily and the air con doesn’t cool you up there, its hot and annoying to be honest, only stayed 3 nights so i cant complain too much but there was moments where stuff fell and i nearly fell. Advice: use your free vouchers, the coffee is good and the beer and don’t get a bunk at the top ^_^
Firstly, without going too much into the details, I am appalled how the management dealt with a violent backpacker who during the night committed a potentially serious sexual assault. The management allegedly watched the cctv footage the next day and explained that they can’t remove him for the assault as there was no sound on the cctv- even though this was heard by everyone in the dorm and showed him creeping into a girls bed (while me and around 4 others heard her say “no, get out” 3 timesBut they told him to leave due to him using illegal substances in the room. They didn’t seem interested in the sexual assault he had committed. This may be due to the said backpacker telling everyone how he will get away with it due to being friends with the management.Other points were that the cleaners were in the room at 8am being very loud and singing and the beds were the most uncomfortable beds we have slept in on our 10 month trip.Hostel staff were very friendly and welcoming and you get a free beer and tea/coffee on arrival which was nice!
Had an allergic reaction to something here. Every day the manager would have the cleaners change all my bedding and toss the mattress to see if they could find anything to help. They care a lot and are very friendly. They have a great bar, privacy even in your dorm and the food is always great
Friendly little place with clean, comfortable cheap dorm beds. Staff are friendly although a couple of the guys are more interested in hitting on the women there then doing their jobs (or interrupt you if you talk to a girl they like). As the reception is also the bar it can be a bit chaotic at times and things get missed, for example food orders and requests to extend stays (myself and someone else had a problem with this when we were told we had to check out despite extending our stay). Angkor beer towers are sold and are meant to have 14 beers in but actually only have about 9 or 10, and go warm quickly, so youre better off just buying the single beers which are cheap anyway. My dorm bed was comfortable and spacious although the curtain fell down on the second night. Hostel beds are also in three tiers which is a bit dangerous. Shared bathrooms are ok but showers are in an awkward position next to the toilet. Make sure you get your free beer and coffee vouchers when you arrive as I didnt get mine! Booked a bus to Don Det, Laos, which was fine until we got to Stung Treng when we were told that someone had forgotten to book us on the bus over the border so we had a three hour wait for the next bus.
Comfy beds, nice aircon, blessed showers. Chill atmosphere, really great people, all in all very much recommend staying here in Phnom Penh. Really a value for money place. The place is well thought out with private beds, big lockers, pretty much everything you really need. The staff are always making sure everyone’s having a good time which you really don’t get everywhere. Again highly highly recommend this place! <333Oh and they cater to vegetarians as well!!
Excellent staff, food and drinks are excellent, inexpensive, and happy hour is a great deal! The dorms are clean, very private with a good atmosphere. The location is great, close to the river and palace, and the staff will help arrange Tuk tuks to take you anywhere you may need. Amazing stay!
