The Bell in Ticehurst in Hun
Description
Popped in for Sunday lunch. Very welcoming and wonderful food. I would happily recommend it.
MoreWas there for a wedding was a wonderful day. Lovely food. Only down side was the difference in prices that I keeped getting charged for soft drinks.
MoreWe had our wedding at The Bell on 4th June and it went swimmingly! Thanks to Tessa, Jess & Bryce.
MoreI went for food. The service was friendly and the food came quickly. The pie I had was incredible: perfect mash, perfect pastry and generously filled. Should win an award.
MoreHad lunch here with friends,a lovely pub with very interesting interior
Visited for a wedding - lovely venue and we had great food and service. Would definitely return to eat in the pub, had a nice feel and good garden space.
MoreBeautiful pub. The decor and exterior are very interesting and there is an abundance of trinkets, ornaments and feature pieces to admire whilst enjoying your drink. I did not eat here so cannot comment on the food. The only reason for not being 5 star was the staff were not overly friendly and felt a little awkward as if they could not relax. Worth a visit though 100%
MoreFantastic wedding venue, quirky rooms, all absolutely beautiful.Food was absolutely delicious, great service - a gorgeous place with love all around, amazing thank you x
MoreThe starters and the cheese board were outstanding, but both our burgers were raw. They were quickly replaced but we sat and watched three other customers eat raw burgers, one was an elderly man. Food poisoning can kill the young, elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system. It’s just not acceptable to serve raw minced beef. It’s not the same as cooking steak, it must always be cooked through. This is basic knowledge in catering. I was surprised based on the quality of the other courses that no one oversaw the burgers or trained the chef to check. Very worrying indeed. I hope the elderly man was ok.
MoreTaken quirkiness to the nth degree in rooms. Food was excellent, and the gin/vodka infusions tasting was wonderful.
MoreTop 5 places I have visited across all categories. Amazing charm, decoration, gardens and people in an amazingly charming little village.
MoreUnfortunately no bar food. They have a good restaurant but nothing available for a quick bite outside on a hot evening. They are missing a trick
MoreWhat an absolutely amazing pub and venue. The outside area is beautiful with plenty of seating. We didnt stay in any of the rooms/huts but looking online they look great plus the setting is fabulous. We had a wonderful meal inside and the burgers were very nice and I would recommend anyone to go here for a meal. Staff were attentive and friendly and I will be going back when I am in the area.
MoreLovely pub with great service. My only thought is that the bar should really stay open a little later for residents for the price of the room. Definitely recommend staying there though
MoreFood is really good, even if my dish was not as generous. The service is not as good as it aims. We went straight for main course, yet take orders left us waiting (despite the request to have vacated the table within two hours of arriving), starter cutlery left on table, wine not served well (despite a great, and expensive cellar), only to be slammed a 12,5% ‘discretionary service charge’. Far more expensive than it should be, … but it has to be said, the chef is good !!! Staff are friendly enough but it is too expensive for what it ‘really’ offers.
MoreLovely place. Set in a nice village..only stopped for drinks but the food looked amazing. Friendly staff!
MoreWe had our sons wedding here.Best venue ever! Perfect!
A lovely wedding venue and in particular Jess and Georgie were fantastic. Excellent service, efficient and contributed massively to a lovely day!
MoreFlawless. My big brothers wedding was absolutely perfect.Everyone at The Bell was 11/10.The biggest day of his life was magical
MoreWhat a find, staff, food, service, all at its best, from receptionist at time of booking to even the youngest waitress serving breakfast..... What a team of well trained dedicated people.Atmosphere of hotel is busy, quirky, and friendly, with many unique features we found to be great. Cant wait to visit again very soon.
MoreA fabulous gastro pub , lovely money , great service, lovely garden and restaurant areas. Interesting menu and excellent food. Pricey but worth every penny.
MoreGood place in the middle of nowhere very nice venue and the food looked amazing, I was there for a wedding
MoreAwesome wedding venue, quirky accommodation and a great selection on offer for breakfast / lunch / dinners. Highly recommended.
MoreExcellent Sunday roast in a lovely setting. Drinks menu is also fab
Stayed here to do a Curious House course. Fantastic course in a feast of an environment. Curios abound in a warren of wooden beamed rooms. The most comfortable bed I think Ive ever slept in. Love the vibe here, food is pretty fab too!
MoreStunningly quirky place with so much to explore. Room was fantastic with lots of character, best quality pillows, mattress and bedding -slept like a log. The staff are really friendly and helpful- the food is fresh and tasty with the best home made granola and fresh berry compote I’ve ever tasted - walking around the gardens was an experience in itself with interesting features around every nook and cranny. Well done to whoever designed this place - it’s a little gem 👍
MoreI went to The Bell over the Easter Bank Holiday with my wife and young child. The excellent waiting staff made us all feel very welcome, especially my child. Our waiter also gave great advice on wine selection. The food was magnificent. They even have a great selection of real ales. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
MoreVisited the pub and restaurant. Great choice of drinks and our Sunday dinner was exceptional. Amazing service too.
MoreLunch was good. Two very nice burgers, one fish and one beef, fries and a couple of drinks Almost £50. A bit steep for what it was.
MoreCame here for some lunch on the weekend. Its a nice pub, with a great beer garden and would definitely go back for a pint. But the food wasnt so good. The starters were good; the arancini was great and the salmon was good. But the mains were quite bad. The fish burger was far too salty and the beef burger (which was apparently Waygu beefwas basically a dense meatball; much too overcooked and rich. But 2 stars for being a nice place to have a pint.
MoreAmazing pub with accommodation, the atmosphere is epic and there is a bunch of history attached to the building. Staff are super cool and its very reasonably priced.
MoreReally enjoyed this unique place. Great big open fire place as you enter the bar area and a uniquely decorated resturant area. Food was excellent and well worth a visit!
MoreA charming country-side pub paired with good food and a nice list of wines. The room we had was very cute, would recommend for a weekend getaway.
MoreGreat pub with lots of character and an open fire. Friendly staff. Also really appreciate the variety of non-alcoholic beers. Glad to see that they did not have Becks Blue, which is often what many pubs have.
MoreAn really lovely pub with accommodation and events space. We stayed here it was the venue for a wedding we were attending. The staff were fantastic and the accommodation was very fun - we stayed in one of the lodges in the garden. Well worth it - ours was called “Between the Lines”.Would definitely look to visit again in the especially in the summer.
MoreThis was our third time staying and unfortunately it wasnt as good as it had been in the past. We was really looking forward to the food but different chef and he was unable to make a peppercorn sauce. The atmosphere had changed.
MoreWe stayed in Ticehurst for a few days and visited The Bell Inn for Sunday lunch. Wow ! Greeted by very friendly staff and shown to a cosy table with a log fire roaring near by. I rarely write reviews but felt that the service and food here were that incredible it deserves one. The roast beef and veg were to die for and plenty of amazing gravy. The deserts were just as lovely and obviously the chef knows what they are doing .. sticky toffee pudding the best I’ve ever had!! The service was brilliant and attentive. The pub is very dog friendly which suited us. Overall a wonderful experience and will return when we come back to the area..Congratulations to the team at The Bull Inn
MoreWe had a lovely Christmas wedding at The Bell however we were disappointed when they threw away most of our uneaten wedding cake at the end of the evening and after taking down the decorations a couple went missing. Also, some of the playlists we had made were not played in the correct order. We did ask about this and we were given two bottles of champagne as a good will token but it still slightly spoiled our very special day.
MoreWe came for the New Years Eve dinner while staying elsewhere in the village. A wonderful seven course taster meal, we both tried everything and enjoyed even the things that on paper we wouldnt usually go for, it was all beautifully prepared. Very good wine selection. The staff were lovely and couldnt do enough for you despite being short-staffed. Came back for a drink a few nights later and very cosy atmosphere in a lovely building. Absolutely recommend.
MoreVery nice building. Was a bit pricey for the food. It was a tasty Sunday lunch but I have had better value and similar quality. Beer was very good.
MoreMy husband and I married at The Bell on Saturday 18th September 2021. From our very first visit to the venue in 2019, to after our big day, the staff at The Bell have been phenomenal. Tessa was so helpful and professional, and so many of our guests commented on how great the staff were. Its a beautiful, quirky venue and we couldnt be happier with our choice.
MoreHad a great overnight stay with a special occasion dinner. Excellent breakfast too. Friendly and helpful staff. Traditional pub bar with good beer on tap. Spacious and comfortable room.
MoreVisited on a Sunday for a meal. They hadnt mentioned when booking and we phoned twice that they had a very limited menu as no chef. Very disappointing as drove up from Hastings. Choice of 3 things on reduced menu was ok. Risotto very salty. Burger fine.
MoreA truly unique and special pub with food that will knock your socks off. Quirky decor with cosy vibes, but also perfect for summer staycations. Rooms are lovely, staff are very warm and welcoming. Can’t recommend highly enough.
MoreStayed for 2 nights in the Love Nest. We had a fantastic time and cant thank the staff enough. They are genuinely enthusiastic and friendly and helped us have a truly great time. Very relaxing and will definitely be returning.
MoreQuite extraordinary sprawling pub with quite lovely gardens. The Bell serves a number of beers from local breweries including Flimwell and Lewes. The pub also serves good food which at least on the evening we were there had a distinctly Spanish theme (our burgers were topped with chorizo for example). The service was a little slow but not frustratingly so and the person serving us did initially seem impatient and then became super-friendly. The pub is not directly on one of the main routes out of London but in our view was definitely worth a diversion. We’d go back.
More4.75 stars. Delightful. Located in a very smart village. Nice to see locals ride their horse down the high street. Did not stay but had lunch here. Had the fish (sea breamand chicken as mains and olives and peppers for starters. All excellent. Lovely atmosphere eating in the outdoor courtyard in the sun. Plenty of sun and shade. Really nice. Would have been useful if wait staff had informed that sides are needed with mains. Upon mains arriving we then ordered sides. Parking on site. Very very nice on a summers day. Highly recommended. Wish I could have stayed all afternoon.
MoreWe haven’t stayed as yet but have booked a lodge for the end of August. We accidentally found this little gem on the bank holiday weekend and were blown away by everything. The other customers were warm and welcoming as were the staff and we loved the quirky vibe. We felt like locals because of how comfortable we were made to feel. Troy the chef was absolutely amazing! Not only did he cater to our needs with regards to the food (which was excellent btwhe also came over and introduced himself after we raved about how we had just eaten the best steak we had ever had! Another staff member gave me a quick tour of the lodge area and fire pit at which point I was sold and have booked a 2 night stay with my girlfriends. I haven’t stopped talking about this place and shan’t either! Excited for our stay, but have a feeling that we will be popping down for another of Troy’s amazing steaks way before August arrives. It’s a fair distance for us but definitely worth every mile! You are all a credit to your employers ❤️
MoreAn eclectic menu with the somewhat contrived names of dishes that bear little relation to the actual dish served. I wouldnt rush back.
MoreWe stayed for a little weekend out of London and arrived not knowing what to expect. We had the most wonderful time. The room was cool and quirky. The food was incredible, we ended eating pretty much every meal here, enjoying all the different parts of the pub- the main dining room, the snug, the function room and the garden! The staff were friendly and engaged. We’d definitely recommend.
