20-22 College Green, Dublin 2, D02 C868, Ireland, Dublin
Elegant bar with live piano music and chandeliers hanging from an intricately decorated ceiling.
If this is a tourist trap, I have never seen so many Irish business folks here having lunch. Upstairs there seem to be Irish heritage club chatting away.My steak Guinness pie was some of the best traditional Irish food I’ve had. Flakey puff pastry crowned a thick guiness pie. Fingerling potatoes was a nice balance to this decedent pie.
Wow! How did I not find this place in my previous visits to Dublin? What a fabulous building - apparently and old bank - whose lobby was transformed into something unimaginable from the busy street outside. Very impressive. Definitely worth at least one drink while marveling at the amazing architecture. Beyond that, there was a very nice selection of Irish beers and cuisine at a reasonable price and a very professional, attentive staff. This will be a regular stop for me when Im in Dublin.
Situated in the heartland of Dublin, it looked almost too grand to enter. We thought it was a tourist trap, but were we nicely surprised. Baroque architecture, golden decorations, classy atmosphere. The food was top notch, the service was warm and friendly. Our jaws dropped when we saw the bill. We couldn’t believe how moderately priced it was. They could easily doubled the price and we wouldn’t have complained. Highly recommend! We tried:5*Roasted Fillet of Cod- cod with Roaring Bay Mussels, New Baby Potatoes, té Samphire L Grapes in a Light Curry Broth: cod and mussels were very tender - as a matter of fact, the best and tenderest mussels I have ever had. Potatoes were good and to add grapes was a brilliant idea, very innovative.5*Slow Braised Beef & Guinness Pie, Served with Roasted Duck and Fat Potatoes: every bite of the beef was tender. It was very well prepared and cooked. Perfect!
The place was cool but I was let down by the food. It was just alright. I wouldnt wait around for a seat if it was busy
Absolutely beautiful interior for a pub, really without comparison. Prices are a little expensive ( I mean, its Dublin, and also look at the building!but worth it. Their clams were amazing, and so was the Seafood Bisque and the home-made Guiness bread! Service was prompt and friendly, had a great experience there on a Sunday afternoon!
This place is wonderful. The esthetics are gorgeous and the food, soooo yummy. All six in our party had something different to eat and all six of us loved our meal. Would recommend this place to anyone!!
Beautiful atmosphere with great history! Delicious cocktails! Service was a bit slow, but friendly.
Found this place out of the blue as we were walking around and it was very good. Doesnt have a huge menu but everything we had was very good. The fish and chips and the steak were excellent. The location itself is great as its set in what was previously a Bank. Worth a visit if youre hungry. Service was also excellent.
Amazing place, food was good, and drinks were amazing. Service was awesome too - make sure to try their Smoked Old Fashion Whiskey.
Food was great (especially the mussels and the seafood chowder), the interior decor of the former bank building is super interesting and elegantly looking. But most deserving of the 5 star review is the staff as they were very welcoming and accomodating to us and our baby/stroller. A way better choice than many of the very touristy places in that area!
Hands down this was our favorite restaurant that we ate at while we were in Ireland. We actually came three different times. Two times were to eat and once to grab a drink at the bar. All three times we visited this location were absolutely fabulous. This restaurant has THE best fish and chips! Must try if you visit this restaurant. Staff are all very friendly. The history behind this restaurant is also very cool. We cannot wait to return!
Nice food and staff. Only downside is that you have one and a half hour to eat. Then the following group will come.
Gorgeous architecture and an upscale atmosphere; well-placed mirrors help make the place feel larger and averts a stuffy feel. A live pianist is a classy touch. The food is tasty and a creative take on Irish cuisine. A great selection of drinks, some of which are difficult to find. However, the service can be a little slow (despite not being a very large establishmentand the prices are significantly higher on everything. Recommended for a fun night out or a splurge on rare whiskey, but not an every night pub.
Beautiful bar near Trinity in a old bank. The interior is stunning. Excellent friendly service. Great selection of beet and food. Wish we ate here!
Good food, friendly staff and a unique and beautiful location. The only downside is that youre divided into dinner shifts, which means you have to hurry up eating and you cant have a relaxing evening at the restaurant. Once your time is up (normally 1 hour and 45 min), you must leave the dining area.
Breathtaking little spot for lunch (with very reasonable prices)! The interior is amazing, and the live piano only adds to the ambiance. Staff can get a little busy during rush times, but theyre still incredibly attentive and awesome. Dont forget to check out the old vault downstairs on your way to the bathrooms as well!
Not many non-alcoholic options but what they had tasted lovely. You go for the decor, which is absolutely stunning. We didnt have dinner here but it looked great so may come back for a meal on another visit!
A bar full of character. The interiors are nicely done and maintained. Can get really busy during meal hours. I went there for couple of drinks
Walking in The Bank on College Green is like walking into history. The amazing beauty of the building and the restaurant is breath taking. However, the warmth of the people serving here surpasses the amazing ambience. Last but not the least, the food was heavenly. A must visit for any one visiting Dublin.
Had a pretty solid lunch. Oysters were grand; the cod in a curry cream was unbelievable (there’s a surprising amount of mussels hiding under the fish); and the crumble was a great finish. The space is amazing, and makes me want to come again with a group.
Had a fantastic late lunch with a friend and my little boy in the bank bar yesterday. Comfortable, clean and stunning interior. The food was delicious, of a very high restaurant standard. The staff are extremely friendly, efficient and professional. We will definitely return. I would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful restaurant/bar.
Good fish and chips, sandwiches available on the lunch menu. Staff is attentive but they can get busy during the afternoon/peak hours. The interior is really pretty and looks good for pictures. Plenty of seating available. Reserving beforehand is also recommended even though they take walk ins.
Beautiful place, open since 1894, a MUST visit in Dublin
Great place with delicious food(sirloin steak), kind servers!
Wow for this please five stars are not enough. I was alone and I sit next to the bar talking a bit with the barman and he was really kind and nice to offer me exactly what I needed and the food that I heard was really really delicious. Prices were OK and the location is amazing. This arches that you can see gives you that old atmosphere like in old centuries! I would love to come back and stay with friends or for a first tinder match
This place is beautiful,I loved the atmosphere! My espresso martini tastes good but the Irish coffee was the best Ive ever had so far! 😍
Very beautiful place. Well decorated, smooth atmosphere and nice people.Enjoy your Irish whiskey and listen to the music
I visited this place with my mother at the end of last month. She was passing through, visiting me, so I wanted to take her to eat at a restaurant that I was told would be good. when we arrived at the place we didnt find anyone so we kept looking around for about 15 seconds. soon a person appears who approached us. instead of saying good morning, the local employee told us in a short and very direct way: breakfast? So I said that my mother was in town visiting me and that I was taking her there to meet her, because it was an indication. The employee didnt even let me finish talking and said: this is not a museum, either ask for something or leave. this is a company, not philanthropy. when I heard this I was shocked, with the rudeness, mainly because I was with my mother. at no point did we say we were going to eat for free or anything like that. get out of there and never come back. I do not recommend at all. It was a huge lack of education.
Recommended by a friend from Ireland, and it was spot on. Great food inside a very neat setting. Lots of the original architecture was left in place, done very well.Food was amazing (seriously), staff were great and the prices weren’t that bad at all for what you got.
We went twice here during our trip to Dublin. Super friendly staff, very impressive interior and good food! Worth a visit when you’re in Dublin!
Excellent food, very good service and very cool building.
Called in here for breakfast at 11:00 when it opened and first impressions were good, its a beautiful building and the staff were very attentive. We ordered hot drinks that were very nice along with our Irish breakfasts. The quality of the food was higher than we expected and I would definitely recommend it. The bar soon filled up, so I would expect you might have a short wait for a table.
Opulent surroundings and a lot of history which is told in the leaflets on each table. There are original bank safes on the way to the toilet and busts of the 7 authors of the declaration in 1916. The prices are reasonable. 6 euros for soup and bread. 12 euros for a good Old Fashioned cocktail
Great atmosphere here on a busy Saturday evening. Got seated right away. Service was very good. Lovely pint and great meal. Id recommend the beef & Guinness pie
Went here twice during my trip to Dublin. The venue is the real highlight - absolutely gorgeous building and interior. Overall, Id say they have great drinks and above average food. The seafood chowder was incredible. The fish and chips were fine, but nothing to write home about. The Flirtini and the Bank 75 drinks were great. Service was really good the first time (sat at the barand average the second time. Id come back for sure.
The Benedict was absolutely delicious. However, it is a pity their menu has little to no options in comparison to the last time I visited here. Limited options.
Superb. Gorgeous vintage restaurant that was an elegant banking hall with high ceilings and a round mezzanine floor. We had their signature fish and chips and mussels. The live piano playing is a bonus. One of the best in Dublin
Food is delicious, the staff is very kind, the restaurant is very classy, U really get a feel how it was to be in a bank.I would recommend that you try the Irish coffee. If youre into whiskey.5/5 would go again.
Nice Sunday brunch at this beautiful restaurant. I had curry cauliflower soup with Irish soda bread. It was very good.
Beautiful place for drinks and food, burgers are very famous there and cocktails are most recommended! It gets really busy because of its central location, and waiters are always roaming and very helpful and quick!
Food was really nice burger was nicest had in ages and the mussels were plentiful
Be sure to check out the vaults and safes adjacent to the toilets. Amazing interiors and great tile floor in the entry. Pint was fab. Food was great. Super great pick for dinner.
Great bar on College Green and near Trinity college, great food, great pints and very friendly staff. Great atmosphere here too and would definitely recommend a visit if in Dublin. Great job guys.. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I went to the restaurant for a dinner and the atmosphere was really niceThe most important thing for me was how all staff were good and had attention to details. The food is tasty and the menu is short and I love that, make easier to choose.
Great place to have a drink before going to dinner or party, an old bank renovated in an exemplary way, looks beautiful, elegant and cozy, I loved it!
Third time in Dublin but first time going to The Bank on College Green and so glad I did! Its an absolutely stunning historic space complete with great food, service and even a pianist. Will definitely be back on future visits!
Splendid ambience that did not disappoint. For the overall restaurant experience, it was good food at fair prices. The monkfish was a fresh catch of the day, beautifully presented. Beetroot salad was on the small side (slightly underwhelming but that is expected of most restaurants serving appetiser salads). High recommend trying the ice cream for dessert — creamy perfection!
A splendid experience: an amazing building, a magnificent ambience, perfect dishes for a very reasonable price and the friendly, funny and adorable waitress Veronica serving on the upper floor. Of course we’ll be back there.
What a spot!! Ive drank in The Bank many times, but this is the first time eating. We booked a large table on the balcony area above the bar, I would suggest you try get a table in this space.Walking in its the roof that draws the eye. The ceiling is quadruple height, with a beautifully restored stain glass light well. The menu is simple enough, steaks, burgers, pasta and seafood. Our group pretty much covered most on the menu, and the food was excellent. What stood out the most was the service. The lady who served us was excellent, highly efficient and very friendly - 10/10. The music and atmosphere were great, cant wait to go back.
We had a 24 hour layover in Dublin last week and happened to walk past the Bank on College Green at the perfect time for an early dinner. After being asked to show our vaccination certificates, we chose a corner table isolated by plexiglass screens, where we could safely take in the beauty of this stately old building. A pianist played Bill Withers and Nina Simone as I enjoyed crisp fish and chips, washed down with a Guinness. Perfect!
