Nourish Spa Experience & Meal.My partner and I had such a refreshing weekend experience here! We had a (deliciouslate lunch meal, an hour in the spa (small but good for couples), and an hour treatment & massage (we both drifted away - brilliant experience!!).Would absolutely recommend this to any couple looking to relax and unwind as a treat!

Unparalleled, unmatched. This hotel with its whimsy & warmth is unlike anything youll find in London. From perfectly appointed rooms to genuinely inviting staff, we found our stay enchanting & definitely too short. Breakfast, tea, & night caps are all divine & swoon-worthy. Thank you for your accommodations. We cannot wait to return.

I cannot recommend this hotel and bar/afternoon tea highly enough.Even my husband who is not a fan of this sort of decadence finds it enjoyable. Discrete service. Delicious food and drinks. And oh so comfortable! I never want to move again whenever I go there. Simply divine.

Brilliant 5star hotel based in Mayfair. The service was excellent and staff very friendly. Afternoon tea was nice and presented well. Hotel clean and nice decor. The spa was not busy and facilities very clean and tidy. Staff at the spa were good at their jobs and treated us well.Not many parking spots available but they have a paid car park just around the corner. Pricey but worth it as secure.

Fantastic residences, perfect for families with kids. Amazing location right between green and Hyde Park!Edit 5 years later: Weve come back to stay at the Athenaeum so many more times since. Back in April, we stayed and my daughter fell in love with Arthur, a stuffed bear the Athenaeum put in the room for our kids to enjoy. We told her she certainly didnt need any more stuffed animals but she was pretty sad when we left. Between April and August, she saved up her money and saved enough to buy one. We went back in August, though this time we stayed with a friend. We stopped by the Athenaeum though so she could buy Arthur. The front desk/receptionist (whom Ive unfortunately forgotten her name but she was so lovely and kind to my daughterwent through the hotel looking for Arthur and finally found him about 45 minutes later and came down and happily told my daughter she could have him free of charge. This level of above and beyond customer service is illustrative of why we love staying here and will continue to come back year after year.

We didnt stay in the rooms, we booked the spa and restaurant for our anniversary.It was superb, the facilities are well kept and clean, the staff is attentive and polite. Every detail is very well cared for.The restaurant had a good atmosphere, good menu and the food was very nice.Overall a good experience

Best place for Families ,great location and amazing stuff,This is the first time for me to be in this hotel , this holiday was special with my Husband and kids . The staff was so friendly and lovely the service was perfect I was happy 100% of the time. I would give a special thank to Mr.Mina Gerges For His kindness and support during my stay at the Hotel I took the apartment and experience was very nice.

We went for afternoon tea, the service was great but the afternoon tea was a let down. I had a vegan afternoon tea, the little cakes and pasties were all made and covered in dark chocolates which was disappointing as it would have been nice to have a variety of other types of vegan pastries/cakes. The sandwiches wasn’t great either. The scones were amazing and loved the turmeric latte.

I vitised the spa and restaurant but did not stay in the hotel.Spa experience was good and the afternoon tea was great.Staff were very friendly and the place was spotless.I would certainly recommend the spa and afternoon experience, especially as a gift.

Went for afternoon tea. Food was good though server messed the order up slightly (was rectifiedand sandwiches werent as fresh as I would like.Premises was nice, as were staff, caters for dogs also. Wasnt staying in the hotel so no comment on that aspect.

Visited for a spa day and dinner, and we had the most relaxing experience, the massages were brilliant. The staff were lovely and so friendly, especially the lady who welcomed us. The changing rooms were on the small side, and so was the spa itself but this wasnt an issue at all and actually made the spa feel more cosy. We loved the products offered at the spa, the shampoo was amazing.The food was to a very high standard, great portion sizes, and tasted amazing. Especially the dessert!! The staff at the restaurant were lovely and made our evening more enjoyable. Thank you!

Stayed here for 6 nights. Overall the stay was nice as the hotel is quiet and the staff are so friendly and attentive. Thanks to Jorge for looking out for us. The location is convenient. The only downturn is the cleanliness of the rooms. The cleaner does not take out the used cups. Also tissue is not being refilled daily.

Tried the five course tasting menu with wine pairing and loved it. Food was top-notch and the wines matched beautifully as was the service. Would definitely recommend.

If you want to feel like being treated like the Queen herself, stay here!The location is incredible, we enjoyed Hyde Park right down the road, High Tea at the Ritz, the location of this palace aka Hotel is ideally located in walking distance of all main attractions.Breakfast was delicious along with their Lattes that I had 2 every morning.Every evening we sat on their front patio service with drinks and watched all the people walking by.I seriously am sad to leave here, but then again, we are off to explore Paris!

I can only comment on two of us doing the Indulge Spa Package - half day deal with spa facilities, treatments, afternoon tea & Prosecco.Amazing communication from Kayleigh to secure appointment & explain everything. Spa area is very small and they try to limit it so only a few of you in there at a time. Changing rooms not very functional on space / toilet.Fell asleep during facial. Nayeed was exceptional. Spa treatments had were really good.Afternoon tea was very good. We ate late so some of the sandwiches were very dry. Overall lovely high tea & nicely done.Has to be said every staff member was fantastic in the restaurant/ hotel floor area. They interacted with guests so nicely.Overall a really excellent experience and value for money. Spa area itself the letdown.

Alex the head bar tender is out of this world! He created a customised event for my client, taking us on our tour of Japanese whiskeys. He even missed his train home to ensure we could finish our experience as we took a little longer than we should have

We have booked this hotel along with BA holiday package for 2 adults and 2 kids. The sofa bed they provide was of very cheap quality and even kids couldnt sleep properly because of the sound it makes when moving. The website mentioned pool and spa but it was closed. Why would anyone go for holiday where there is no facility at all. When asked what services are provided in the hotel, they mentioned lounge access and room service. Lounge access is basically hotel lobby. Any budget hotel is far far better than this hotel. Of course will definitely appreciate them for the cleanliness they maintain. This is the least that we could expect in 5-star hotel.

Took my mum for a spa break&cream tea for two. Had an amazing time at the Athenaeum spa. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco and chocolate each and all essentials were provided. Really enjoyed the steam room and jacuzzi.The spa was very private and calm so we were able to relax. Our therapists Eliana and Penelope were very friendly and professional. We chose body scrub and power facial which was very relaxing and skin was so smooth afterwards. Would definitely book again! Thank you to the spa and restaurant staff for making this experience even better!

We had the lunchtime 5 course tasting menu to celebrate 3 x 70th birthdays. It was fabulous from the minute we stepped through the door! The decor was subdued and stylish with perfect lighting levels. The service was impeccable - attentive but discreet. The food was so, so good and the wine, although rather expensive, was extremely good. The experience is not cheap- currently £50 per head (it was £45 when we booked a couple of months agobut perfect for a special occasion!

Private dining. Service was not up to the standard of some hotels that have less stars in London. Booked for a 50th anniversary. Staff everywhere, but 35 mins before a drink even arrived. Side plates but no bread. Poured our own drinks at points. Paid a fair amount for this, have had much better. Such a shame.

I was here for their afternoon tea. The staffs are all well-trained, friendly and professional. They have a respectful way of delivering the service.The environment was classy and quite, a bit old but you feel comfortable staying there. There are curtains to ensure your privacy.As for the food, I love the white chocolate mousse, this is the best mousse I tried so for. I will also recommend the scone, cute to see them being wrapped in the cloth. Macarons and others are just okay for me.Somebody told me that they used to serve your tea with a ”tea book”, unfortunately I think it was not here anymore, which is a real shame. You still have a wide range of teas, they are still in good quality. I like Red Berry.The amount of the set menu is enough for two woman. 4 stars for the service, the price, and the environment.

Absolutely amazing 5 course taster menus with wine pairings. We came here for my husbands 60th birthday and we were not disappointed. I had the vegan menu which I could have gluten free, my husband had the meat each of our wine pairings were different and explained to us by a very knowledgeable sommelier. The surroundings were stunning, the hotel kept to social distancing guidelines and the staff wore masks. The staff were very professional but also friendly. It was also a great surprise for my husband to have a 6th course of a mini ice cream cake and sparklers. We enjoyed teh evening so much we have bought a gift voucher for our son and his girlfriend as a Christmas present. Thank you 116 at the Athenaeum x

My boyfriend took me here for a spa treatment for my 24th birthday and then we stayed here overnight (this was a surpriseThe Spa treatment (massage and facialwas so good that I actually fell asleep halfway through ! My face was also glowing after the facial, to the point that i have now have facials every other month. In addition, the room was very nice, clean and spacious and my boyfriend let me know after we stayed there that they had actually upgraded the room free of charge so that he had more space for surprise decorations. They really helped make my birthday special

Stayed overnight 22nd-23rd October at a cost of £569. (Green Park suite, champagne and breakfastwhich initially seemed like good value to me for a central 5* hotel, however I became increasingly disappointed.Arrival was fine, although the reception is dark.The room was large but the windows were dirty, there were rings from spilled drinks on the coffee table and desk, the bed frame was wobbly and the decorative finish was shoddy - some plug sockets had been painted over.We arrived back to the hotel at around 11pm after a concert, but as we hadnt eaten we tried to order room service. The menu was very restricted (3 or 4 basic options from memoryand there was no chef available to make something simple off-menu such as a sandwich - something I would expect from a 5* London hotel on a Friday night.The central location doesnt make up for the shortfalls - I have stayed at Flemings, Browns and the Intercontinental, all within a 5 minute walk from The Athenaeum which have all offered far better value for money.I was invited by email to give feedback on 24th October, which was completed in a similar way to this review, however nobody has reached out to me to discuss any of the issues I have described above - which I would expect.

The spa and treatment was incredible, the staff were amazing and we had a lovely time. However when we went for tea there was some confusion. Neither of us have attended the spa before and when we had our tea the waiter proceeded with bringing us afternoon tea which we thought was correct, and the restaurant had been informed of our package. When we received the receipt to see we had been charge £100 we were shocked - the waiter informed us that it hadnt been communicated to them that we were coming for cream tea (not afternoon tea), we definitely didnt want to spend any more on the day and we wouldve stuck to the package. We still really enjoyed the tea but it definitely left a sour taste in our mouth. It ended up being quite disappointing and left us questioning whether or not it was fair. I reached out to the manager and was informed that they would be in contact, but even with a follow up email I havent heard anything back. Very disappointed.

Booked a Reconnect spa package which included a three course meal with a bottle of champagne. The service staff and massage therapists were very nice .The spa is quite small and there is no place to sit other than in the room with the hot tub and sauna so don’t get there too early. They only allow you to arrive one hour ahead any way. The chlorine is really strong in the hot tub which is probably good but it really burned my eyes so we didn’t stay in long. The ladies and mens dressing rooms are quite small. My husband said more than one man in there at a time would be uncomfortable.The showers themselves are nice and the lines they provide are fine. The spa experience was fine but quite different from the US spa experience. It may just be the package we selected.You are in one room together as a couple. They started us on our backs with a very gentle massage, then turn on your backs. After the back massage they do a dry salt scrub on the same table . You remain in your salted state while they do the facial and then you go to back to the dressing rooms to shower off the salt once done.Just make sure you understand what you book and you will be fine. We didn’t book a hotel room . We ended up booking our hotel at the Sheraton right next door because once we decided we wanted to stay, they were booked up. That worked fine as it is so close .The meal was a nice addition but I wasn’t thrilled with the set menu or the food. So sorry. I think the overall experience was nice but it is expensive so make sure know what you are booking

One of the best hotels weve stayed in without a doubt, faultless on every level honestly! The staff are so lovely and welcoming, and down to earth. The private residences are just beautiful and so perfect for a private yet serviced stay, the stylish décor, the comfy bed, the massive living room and useful kitchen, were all amazing, and we just had the best long weekend here. Oh and breakfast in the room was outstanding!

Incredible experience! My girlfriend and I had a Afternoon Tea experience which is a completely new world to us "casuals" being used to Premier Inns. The gentleman outside in the top hat was a charm, the hotel on the outside is beautifully ordained in living plants, which in London stands out! Inside its sleek and fresh, you get the aroma of perfumes and tea.The tea experience itself was stunning, beautiful cutlery and table sets, the selection of teas, coffees and bubbly was endless but all so very nice! And the fresh scones are to die for.And a special personal note, all the staff including the receptionists and young lad who served us made the day extra niceThanks to all.

Didn’t stay at the Athenaeum but had afternoon tea this Sat afternoon. The staff were warm, welcoming and had a lovely sense of humour. Beautiful surroundings and food- but it was the staff that made it all the more enjoyable.Thank you very much to the lovely team.

Wonderful spa, had a great day here. Staff are friendly and attentive, therapists absolutely wonderful. Came out of here feeling like a million dollars, to go for an afternoon tea in the restaurant, which was equally as great! Would highly recommend.

Had a spa day experience which included use of spa 2 treatments and 3 course lunch. Was excellent value for money. Loved the products in the spa followed by really tasty food. I would definitely do it again. Made for an excellent day out in London. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

I booked the Reconnect Spa experience for my partners birthday and it was amazing - two hours of massages, 1 hour access to the spa facilities & a 3 course meal with champagne all at a reasonable price (after spending hours searching for different experiences, this looked the best for what was included). It did not disappoint, thank you!

Visited for a 5 course tasting menu lunch. Food was excellent and they even changed the first course for me at no extra cost because it was something I really dont like (tomato & basil soup). Initially, portion sizes seem very small but its surprising how full you get by the end of the 5th course. At £40 per head its reasonably priced too, especially considering its in Central London.

The service was excellent and the food exquisite! We went their for our wedding anniversary and was a bit doubtful of the taster menu as sometimes it can be a hit and miss. Well it was a hit. The food is of the highest quality some pictures of the nights attached. The staff was so professional and explained every dish and the wine I had with each meals as part of the wine flights 😊

From the moment by we arrived at the Athenaeum we were tested like VIP’s, we were pleasantly greeted by John at the door and he could not have been more helpful and friendly, Simon at the reception booked us in and we made our way to our room.We were blown away by the gesture from Hotel team as it was our wedding anniversary we had been upgraded and the team had left a lovely card and some exquisite assortment chocolates, macaroons and truffles. It was a beautiful gesture and set the tone for our stay!The rooms were beautiful, Immaculate, spacious and beautifully designed. We had booked for bed and Breakfast and we were equally as impressed with the service and variety abs quality of the food presented.All in all I was blown away with the service, professionalism, quality and sheer VIP service from the team at the Athenaeum!Thank you for making our time so special !

This was a very lovely place to eat. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating in particular... Georgia who greeted us, Alam who served us and another lady who may have been front of house manager. Right up until we left we were catered to...the doorman was a friendly man. Would definitely visit here again. The food was very tasty too.
