18th-century pub with original mahogany panelling and Victorian snugs with etched glass partitions.
Nice pub. Popped in after a gig at the Paladium, was very empty so thankfully there was somewhere to sit. Only down side was after about 30 minutes they were closing!
A very attractive old pub dating to the first half of the 18th century. Just up from the London Palladium. Obviously you pay a premium for the area but well worth a visit.
Fabulous interior, decent beer and trad pub food... a great central London meeting point.
Stopped in with friends for a couple of sharing platters towards the end of service on a busy Saturday night; we were seated upstairs for food. Food was fine, the pub was fine, I’m mainly writing this review for the member of staff who looked after us - Erica was absolutely fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us, she was great!
Great food and great beer, I had an amazing double burger which was simply mouth-watering
I liked it. Closest pub to the palladium.I asked for a white wine and lemonade in a tall glass, and I was given a pint glass, it made me chuckle. The drinks are London prices, no surprises there and the door man was a lovely chap.Ill definitely return if Im in the area again.
Bustling west end pub convenient for Shops and shows near Oxford Circus tube. Wide range of cask ales, mainstream lagers and other drinks as well as food
We had a meal upstairs having been to a matinee performance. The restaurant was packed but Erika found us a table and provided a first class service despite being rushed off her feet. When things calmed down she made sure we enjoyed our meal and mentioned it was her first day at the job! She is an absolute asset to your business! Thanks Erika for making our trip so memorable for all the right reasons and best of luck in your new job!
The Food & Service was awesome. The young lady behind the bar took really great care of us.One complaint, a lot of the food items listed on the Menu, were simply not available ?We did return (Mid-Week& the same issues with food.Overall, we enjoyed the Argyll Experience. We wish you continued success.Dr. Peter SaturOPEN TABLE VIP REVIEWERTORONTO CANADA
What would Life have been without this place? Quality beers and wines. The seafood platter could do with a revisitation...
Good food and service. Great location next to the underground station. Reasonably priced. Toilets werent that great otherwise wouldve 5 stars.
Great place with loads of history and good beer
Our friend Chris Wild booked for 7 of us. We were shown to our table upstairs.Gabriella was excellent taking our orders for drinks and food. Service was excellent, food was delicious. Thank you Gabriella your service and attention was excellent.
Nice pub just around the corner from Oxford Circus. Good selection of beers.
Good pub to be entertained by employees fighting behind the counter. Better than MMA show ! Loved it 💥🔥🔥 Let me know next time you do a show I’ll pay extra to watch the fight ! 😁
Loved the old decor and architectural features that you have preserved. We were disappointed not to stay to lunch ourselves but the rest of our party 3 stayed for lunch and thought the pies were fantastic
Satisfying typical meal (fish and chips, beer), hard to find a vacant table. Nicely decorated.
A lovely meal ,upstairs in the restaurant with air con keeping us cool ,amazing food very hot and tasty, served by fast and friendly staff ...
Superb old fashion pub with all the privacy booths still in place, great atmosphere and excellent beer.
Beautiful building with loads of etched glass and woodwork. Great to watch the melee of Oxford Circus. Staff need a bit more training though.
Great food and service upstairs! The gins are amazing as well, would recommend to taste a couple different ones.
Lovely decor amazing ceiling. Its expensive but your in the heart of London. Worth a visit, handy for the Oxo Circus.
Excellent classic English no nonsense pub. Outside seating perfect for a dry day.
This is a nice pub with a fantastic interior and lots of old design to admire. It’s larger than you’d think from the outside with some big tables at the rear for groups. There’s a small number of tables on the pavement at the front too. The two bar areas inside have fast service and the staff are friendly. Prices aren’t unreasonable for the location and there’s a good atmosphere throughout. Certainly somewhere I’ll be returning!
Disappointing - Steak not medium and all together three onion rings served. Place was empty and service to take order took 18 minutes to arrive let alone food longer than that. :/ I always wonder why these places dont put in a marginal amount of more attention. Get the kitchen and service higher pay or some skin in the game....
Great pub. Went upstairs. Waitress was great.
Ate in the upstairs section, service was superb, as was the food. For awesome British food, check out this place.
Great traditional London pub. Good selection of draught beers and ales.Really good food, great lunchtime offers. Fantastic position in the heart of the West End, very near London Paladium. Highly recommended 👌
We had a few pints here. I was so impressed. It was so clean and tidy. The toilets were spotless. Nice place
A very busy, traditional pub! Good ale and very good food! Gabriella was a very competant waitress, friendly and busy! A perfect start to the evening.
Marvellous pub for food and drinks at a reasonable price
Old style pub that survived the blizz.
Great location and very fresh after refurbishment. Good beer. Considering it was FA cup day a busy staff did really well. Always worth a visit.
Great pub in perfect location just 1 minute form Oxford Street station and The London Palladium.I visited Argyll Arms many times, and if I happen to be around in central London, I always come in for a couple of drinks and delicious food. The moment you enter the building you get introduced to cozy and welcoming atmosphere. They also have dining room upstairs if you prefer that. The selection of beer, ales and spirits is impressive, and it may take some time to decide. However, if you’re not sure what to get, the bar staff will navigate and narrow down the options just for you.In addition to that, the attitude of bar staff is splendid. Quick service, smiling and welcoming, teamwork. Sometimes it’s just appealing to see them work.If you’re not sure what to get in terms of food, my personal favorites are burgers, fish and chips, pies and steaks. If you want something to share, a perfect option would be Landlord’s platter or fish platter.A special thanks to people who run, manage and work at this place as it is always in perfect condition. Tables are wiped, bar area is organized and clean, toilets are looked after. So, if you’re not sure where to start in central London, this is the perfect place.
I really loved the atmosphere of an typical old english Pub. The waitresses and waiters are very friendly and handsome, they serve very good beer and have very tasty Fish and Chips in their menu. Will definitely come back to eat and drink here.
A pretty decent pub with reasonable rices for the area. When you first go in it looks quit dark and small, but the is an area at the back where you may get a seat and a larger eating area upstairs. The staff are friendly and helful, plus they provide prompt service. Very pleasant service and kept quite clean. You can even get a wheelchair in down the corridor at the side.My only downside is that the hall next to the main bar is not very brightly lit (I assume for an atmosphere), but they have put some small christmas lights in against the mirrors to help with that.Overall a nice place where the staff are pleasant and they do not rip you off price wise.
I got dropped here whilst oh went shopping. As it was before 12 on a Sunday, couldn’t get a beer so opted for coffee. Quiet this time of morning!
A very nice pub. The draught line-up is decent, with about five rotating real ales to complement the standard macros. The decor is lovely with highly ornate, dark woodwork. There is an outdoor seating area to aid any overflow at the bar. There is a substantial menu but I did not eat anything during my visit. Will certainly return to see what is on tap.
Nice pub located on Oxford Circus...love the chandeliers inside. The place looks very posh. Fine meal as well. Love the staircase.
Ive eaten here before and it was wonderful. This time not so good, In fairness, Julian Clary was on across the street and everyone came in to eat before the show - so hopefully this is a one off. Our pies were dry and veggies were overcooked, but last time here everything was delicious. The pub itself is lovely, on a very nice street. The staff were very friendly and attentive even though they were rushed off their feet. Will return on a slower night and hopefully it will have returned to its usual quality.
My friend and I had a meal at Argyll Arms before going to the Panto at the Palladium. We had a table in the restaurant by the fireplace. The staff were extremely polite and the service was excellent. The food was well presented and tasted wonderful. I can recommend the salmon and dill fish cakes. It is a beautiful establishment and will definitely be going back.
A really nice atmosphere with some amazing British food! Best fish & chips I’ve ever had!
Some will have an aversion to it due to its location, but being at Oxford circus and a minute later in a cavernous Victorian pub carved into the metropolis is a beautiful experience and well worthy of ones time.
We went to this place a couple of times. We did not have a reservation however we they found a table for us. The waitress who was a young lady at the bar was really kind and helpful and the food was good. The second time we were put at the bar and it was rather uncomfortable to eat the meal. And the staff who escorted us in did not bother to take our order, and even the lady with short hair who was at the bar was not so cheerful. They dont smile at all. It is sad as the food is good.Update:After 3 months we decided to give it another chance because the food was good. However, we didnt receive any service at all and the staff was completely dismissive of our presence and continued to chat amongst themselves. We walked out.
Not much to add but given its location if you are planning to eat it is worth booking in advance. Beautiful Victorian decor and good service. M
The wood panelled dining room upstairs is a great spot for some classic pub fayre. The menu is varied with some great pies, traditional British classics and a special fish menu. Portions are generous, service is good and everything was delicious. The Steak and Ale Pie is award winning - for good reason. Book ahead to avoid disappointment because it gets busy in the evenings especially for pre-theatre dining. Toilets were a bit grubby though!
Very nice pub where you can taste good food and beer. Fish and chips is a must, delicious! Personnel is very kind and you will fill welcomed. On the ground floor there is the actual pub, on the upper floor there is a nice and reserved dinner room. Children not admitted after 19.00
An evening visit to The Argyll Arms, Soho, for a pint of London Pride and a steak pie dinner.. Wow!Walked past this pub by Oxford Circus so many times as it gets obscured by the tourist horde, but glad to have finally ventured in. 18th century, mahogany and etched glass everywhere, good variety of beers on tap and a great dinner in Palladium Bar and Dining Room upstairs.Recommended.
Its like Peeky Blinders meets Titanic in here!Beautiful curved glass front bay windows.Glass decorative panels stained dark and deep red walls and ceiling. The staff were very nice and very polite. Beer was good and they have a a wide selection. There seems to be a function room upstairs and they serve food although we didnt eat this time.Pop in its like a time warp.
We were shopping on the area and needed a break, the food looked good for a chain pub so we decided to stay for lunch as it wasnt too over crowded at the time we were there. This is obviously in a busy area and I assume can get very busy. Our visit was pleasant and the food was cooked well although it took a long time to arrive, everyone enjoyed their visit.
