Comfy, low-key gay bar with a longtime history offering theme nights & regular drink specials.
Excellent service and well poured drinks.
Nice bar with friendly bartenders. Easy to get a drink which was not the case when I went to Rumors.Wish The Apartment Lounge would expand and open a dance club with a more manly vibe as Rumors is not much of a Gay Bar anymore as lots of straight people and women go there and it becomes too crowded and the crowd starts to get sloppy on the dance floor as the night wears on.Be nice to have a dance club in Grand Rapids where the Gay guys could be in the majority so its not so hard to figure out who is Gay and who isnt.
The owner likes to play favorites to the cute boys or people he knows ! is that how to run a business ? If the table says for 6 people then save for 6 people . just because you have 2 pretty boys comes in you let them sit at a table where you have a sign for 6 guest or lets people sit there if they are his friends!
Great spot to hang out in the evening, really nice and welcoming queer community
Great local bar for you to hangout an get to know the community. Staff is awesome.
Pretty good vibe. Not the best parking opportunities in the area. Refreshingly different. Cozy. Good prices. Free popcorn (but dont plan on a real meal because that is all the food they provideThere is a long bar and a row of booths lining the opposite wall that were all very full as overall there wasnt that much seating available so plan accordingly! I wouldnt personally go back, but if youre in the area and want an inclusive place to simply chill with a drink this may be the place for you.
This is a great queer friendly local bar. I hate how dark it is inside but they have outdoor seating which is lovely. It also doesnt ever feel crowded even when its busy. They also have non-gendered bathrooms which I think is great! I also really liked the bartenders there. They were very attentive and friendly. They also give you free popcorn 😁 They dont really offer much for food other than that though, so dont come here hungry!
Great place for drinks. Friendly staff.
Always a great time, friendly accepting place to grab some drinks.
An historical place with great history, where friends come together to meet right in the heart of downtown Grand rapids. Great staff, good company, fan-tab-u-lous popcorn. 😸
Beautiful bar and beautiful people. Thats a win win all around
The BEST local LGBTQ dive bar around. Staff is so welcoming and fun, but also don’t tolerate people acting with nonsense! Drinks are also very well priced and dosed🙃
incredible service, unbeatable atmosphere. the pomegranate sour *chefs kiss*
Best experience Ive ever had. Troy and Michael are amazing and make you feel so welcomed. Got some popcorn and drank lots of beer. Come here for a great time!
Stopped in here while in town on business and Troy and Jason were great! Friendly staff and atmosphere and great drinks. Glad I stopped in!
Apartment is such a fun AND accepting place, I will always love it!
A beautiful bar. Really, its one of the prettier ones in GR. Service is great. Its not too loud. I wouldnt go here without my BFF though, she keeps the thirsty creeps away.
I enjoy coming here. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The additional outside seating is wonderful. They have a wonderful staff, with great energy. Thank you all for being you!
I’m from Iowa and I came to town to surprise my little brother for his 21st birthday and we accidentally found the most welcoming LGBTQIA+ bar ever! Michael was our main bartender and, honestly, I want to be his best friend. The bar was fairly busy but he made it a point to stop and chat with us and make sure we were taken care of. Before we left I drunkenly informed him that I would be back every time I’m in town and I fully intend on keeping that promise. I absolutely would recommend this place to any and everyone!
What a fun place, service was excellent, everyone friendly. A group was celebrating a birthday and treated us to cake. You couldn’t find a nicer group of people. Highly recommend.
I love how all inclusive this place is. Approximately 20 of us showed up here for a 40th birthday party celebration in costumes. They didnt even bat an eye. They were just curious what we were celebrating. Even the bathrooms are gender neutral. Nor that the bar was packed, the staff always made sure to check in on us.
Great music and service. Be warned it can be loud after 7 or so pm ;-)
Good times here. Was in town visiting. Michael and Troy was very fun bartenders. Will definitely be back next time Im in town.
It was my first time there. I met some friends for drinks and we had a great time!
What a great place. The hubby and I were in Grand Rapids for a weekend and happened to find this place. Staff is very FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING. From the moment we got there they provided us great service and recommend us some good drinks (very good price as well). The place is small but very clean and cute. Next time we’re visiting Grand Rapids we would definitely make sure to stop by.
Love this place. Wife and I visit first any time we are doing something downtown to pre-game! Great vibe and great drinks. This is an LBGT.. Friendly place and Environment so if you are NOT then I recommend you keep it moving and go else where.
Bartender took cash tip and additionally charged 100% tip to my credit card. No one has responded and avoided every effort to directly address the issue.I know bars are struggling to keep customers, but this is a clear way to loose potential new customers from returning. Sad and disappointed with proprietorship responding to customer concern
A smaller bar but loved the staff. They really make it worth while
This was our first occasion to visit since we recently moved downtown. The upshot: Great ambiance. Has a very clubby feel with its leather booths; in effect classy, upscale and welcoming. The downside: We were refused our initial drink orders because the bartender was too lazy and unaccommodating to mix them. After my husband requested a Tom Collins, the bartender claimed he would have to look it up since he never heard of it. I asked for a Margarita on the rocks and the bartender intimated it wasnt worth his trouble. On a Saturday afternoon, several minutes after opening, we were the only customers present. So, no other excuse to not mix these two simple cocktails. We tried to make small talk with him but this guy was rude as all out. And when he did proffer anything to say, it was a litany of personal complaints. Some time later, two customers walked in - apparently regulars - and they were lavished with attention by this faux bartender. We surmise this bartender is also the owner since he resembles some newspaper photos adorning the walls. To think we nearly contributed to their pandemic relief fund because we felt sympathy for this establishment.Unless the personnel/owner gets an attitude adjustment of his own, we doubt well come back any time soon.
The bartenders were very nice and caught up quite often to see how things were going. The drinks were reasonably priced with more than enough alcohol to satisfy. LGBTQIA+ friendly bar with a great environment inside.
Very affordable inexpensive drinks! Omg! It was so cool. The space, the people, the ambience, the drinks all very cool. Music gets a bit loud though, haha.
Came here at 5pm on a Sunday and was turned away because they were "at capacity". The outside seating was virtually empty but they had some bs excuse that they werent serving drinks for outside anymore that evening. Never been turned away from a bar for a capacity sham excuse. They werent even playing any music and the place looked run down and dumpy. Will never return
Such a low-key, yet still fun environment. We sat outside, but the service was still very attentive and always made sure our drinks were full. Even when we went inside, the bartender greeted us right away and answered our questions. I loved the atmosphere and will definitely be back.
Posted two reviews, one on here and one Yelp; apparently, both got deleted. I’ll just keep it condensed this time: the staff is wonderful but the owner is pompous. The drinks are nice and cheap though.
What a fun little find this was. Because of COVID, they close off the street and being in food trucks. They serve drinks out on their patio and seem to making due. Everyone was friendly, both the staff and partons. So if you find yourself downtown Grand Rapids on a Tuesday evening, check this place out.
This is a great bar, everyone is so welcoming and nice. They have a great beer and liquor selection and the popcorn is a nice addition as well! It is sort of hidden but I would suggest giving this place a try!
Awesome place to hang out and meet people. Like the drinks they seem to know what theyre doing and the atmosphere is great. Will be coming back again and again.
Great staff. Friendly place!
Had the best time here! The staff was super friendly, the music was awesome (I even got to learn about some new artists I’d never heard of), and I accidentally wandered in on a Sunday, which has basically half price drinks. A happy coincidence on my last night in town. If I lived in Grand Rapids, there is a 110% chance I’d be a regular here - it’s a great bar
We went to the Apartment Lounge after a funeral today. Bobby opened it up a little early so we could go in and have a Memorial drink in memory of the family member we lost. His staff is always friendly and on point to make sure your glass is never empty and always have smiles on their faces.
Me: "This place is nice. The bartender is amazing. The patrons are so sweet. Had a really good chat with one of them. He is still looking at me?"My wife: "Honey you know this is a gay bar right. They were hitting on you."Me: "Really? Man, I still have it. This is nice. Is this what is like to be a girl?"My wife: *Glares at patron checking me out* "Yes but your mine"Very good bar and nice bar staff. Drinks are really well priced. Popcorn is delicious and everyone is chill.
Im straight and I feel very comfortable. The staff is super friendly and not in a creepy way. Its near a lot of bars but if go he over them. Sunday nights Game of Thrones watch party, and free popcorn.
This is a really nice, chill, bar. It is darker than most places Ive gone to, but you get used to it after awhile.Id go here again soley because the drinks are affordable and the music videos are fine to watch on the TVs.
Almost quite literally a hole in the wall bar. If you’re not sure where you’re going you could walk right past the entrance. The staff here is my literal favorite- always friendly and attentive. The drinks are great and there is popcorn to munch on.There are different events going on here, such as trivia or movie nights with pizza so keep an eye on their Facebook page too!
Came here for a trivia night. The place was PACKED! But the drinks were good, the staff was sassy and fun, and the prices cant be beat. Would definitely recommend!
Super friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Husband and I went for one drink and ended up staying over two hours. The bartenders were amazing. Definitely will be back!
They dont serve any sort of food here other than popcorn. If they had a even a small selection of food to eat, that would be great. When it gets busy, its cramped and because of that it gets insanely loud. The owner definitely needs to find a larger space. Staff here are funny. The music is the best part. Ive always found something new to listen to.
The atmosphere is great, love the elegant look of the bar and the homeyness of the booths. The lighting is very atmospheric and the its never too loud here, plus they have power outlets at every booth or at most booths, so you can charge your phone or plug in a laptop if youre just hanging out having a drink by yourself. However, this is not my favorite place to grab a beer downtown, and not because this a popular gay bar/lgbtq friendly establishment in town, but because they dont have craft beer on tap. They only offer craft beer in bottles, but they do seem to keep a moderately nice selection on hand.
Here now and this waiter here is giving me a hard time! With a friend who doesnt have his ID, which I understand you cant serve him, but 15 dollars for 3 shots on half off Thursday ? Also love this place for its popcorn, which they pop every few minutes because this place is packed, told we have to wait 10 mins for popcorn ? He was not polite or kind. Was upset I asked if manager or boss was around to clear my friend because, hes over 40 and first time here. Please, forgive me. Wont be back for a while. About to tell waiter Im writing bad review now, pray for me
We went to the Pride Block Party at the Apartment Lounge. The atmosphere inside the bar is warm and intimate. Outside for the block party a lot of thought went into activities which created a fun and engaging place to chat, dance, or even play a killer game of Jenga. The prices are fair, the staff pleasant and helpful. All in all, we had a great time.
