Easily my favorite meal after 5 days of eating my way through Kansas City. Local seared beef heart was delightful (interplay of crispy chicory, crunchy peanut, soft peanut and what seemed like chickpea sauce, fermented hot sauce, and thinly sliced meat). The dishes we had were all great too (Shokupan, Grilled Cauliflower, Pork Cheek Ravioli, Gravlax). The vanilla beignets for dessert were my favorite beignets ever - - soft and creamy, though girlfriend prefers them more airy.Among the cocktails, Bourbon (with cardamaro/local persimmon/lemonwas also delightful, I loved the textural element from what Im guessing was fruit pulp. Gin (with Sardinia mirto liquor, 5 spice syrup, lime& Rye (with Fred Jerbis Amaro, orange bitterswere both tasty, but too alcohol-forward for my liking. My only other criticism is the lighting is very dimly lit (I took most of these photos with long exposure, otherwise its too dark to see).

Visited this place on my birthday and couldnt have been more pleased. Excellent food and service. This style of dining is my favorite - perfectly crafted small plates. I really enjoy being able to taste a variety of truly delicious food. Cozy and warm ambience too.10/10 Ill be back again!

Booked indoor reservation by calling restaurant and talking with Samantha. When we arrived we were told they only had outdoor reservations. Samantha was rude and self righteous when I brought up that I spoke to her the night before and confirmed reservation. She said there must have been some confusion. I couldn’t believe we were treated like this.We stayed to eat at the bar as we were unable to get a reservation anywhere on a busy Friday night. The food was decent however what was disheartening is they charged $12 for a mocktail. This mocktail had soda water, lemon, and sugar. It was uneventful. The whole experience I would like to forget. I would advise one to go to a restaurant that is respectable with prices and service.

My wife and I went for date night and had one of the best meals weve ever eaten. We try at least one new restaurant for Restaurant Week every year, but this was our first time trying Antler Room. Definitely among the best restaurants in Kansas City, and we cant wait to go back.

Tucked in a sleepy residential neighborhood, this restaurant offers a fantastic culinary experience in the Midwest with a diverse range of shareable plates. The service, flavors, and drinks were top-notch. My only regret was not ordering more. But I will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

I wish I could give this spot a better review. It’s possible I’m just not bougie enough to truly appreciate it. We don’t come downtown almost ever so the name fooled us (and we didn’t read the menu carefully). Very little meat on the menu when we came.Dishes were so eclectic that they were hard to enjoy. Was awkward to share plates during a first-time business meeting. Flavors were interesting but some missed the mark. They were accommodating of my wine choices, letting me taste a few.Service overall was “okay.” Server seemed rushed and sometimes annoyed; not at us - just at life perhaps. We kept getting new plates with every course, which was both a bit wasteful and disruptive to our meeting. If you’re a foodie, you’ll probably like it. We were thinking “steak house” given the name, and this is far from it. There were flashes of great tastes, but in general the food was so eclectic, it was a chore to enjoy. If you’re regular Midwestern folk, go here if you want an adventure, and you have a good bit of money to burn.

Definitely not the Antler Room! I listened to Reddit for my choice on a birthday restaurant. Meals are small. Each pasta course has five pieces of pasta. Service is lackadaisical. Got my reservation for at 8:15. Didn’t get seated till after 8:40. When I placed my order I immediately told them to take one of the items off the order and they took the wrong item off. Still served it to us and instead took off another item and didn’t serve me what I ordered. Honestly this was pathetic. I would of given more stars but it felt like no one tried to do well. Even the only light for our table outside, the street light; didn’t stay on and we ate in complete darkness half the meal.

The Antler Room is fantastic. The food is amazing, service is unbeatable, and drinks are always interesting. Mostly small plates, we like to get 4-5 for two people, but your server can help you map out a plan of attack. Theyre very good about food allergies as well - helping you easily steer clear of any issues. Cant wait to return!

Outstanding food. We sampled the lamb dumplings, cabbage, eggplant mezzaluna pasta, and soft-shell crab. The pasta was served with morel mushrooms and smoked oysters and was absolutely mind-blowing. For desert we had a key lime semifreddo. Five stars.

I went to the antler room with friends and family. We had several dishes that we shared amongst ourselves. We all loved everything we tried. My personal favorite has to be the carrot fritters. They also change food items from time to time. Please keep in mind that they serve small plates. All in all, we had a great experience while eating a variety of tasty food.

We had really been looking forward to this place but we didn’t have a good experience. We ordered 6 dishes and 2 desserts for 4 people. We intended on ordering more but we waited 20 to 30 minutes for each dish to come out. Each dish barely was enough for each of us to have a single bite. Tapas generally only work when they come out quickly. Each dish was deep fried or bread based. We left still hungry and not feeling great. The experience took 2 1/2 hour and cost us $240. Huge rip off, very disappointing.

Have been trying to get a table here for months. Finally go last night. Each dish took about 20-30 mins to come out. We didnt intend on sharing dishes but we were forced to since there was such a massive gap of time between each dish. Yet the portions are NOT meant for sharing. One dish between 4 people is literally one bite per person, every 30 mins. They took 2.5 hours to bring out 6 plates. Seated at 8 and left at 10:30. It was absurd and I had to go home to actually eat again since we all left hungry. Paid $250 for 6 bites of food. Total waste.

Excellent food experience!! The attention was excellent too! I really recommend this place for the people who want to try something different. The quantity of the food is not so much but quality and flavors is extremely enjoyable. We definitely come back!! In the picture is the desserts. The green one is the pistachio ice cream, it was an explosion of flavors!

Our visit to The Antler Room was much anticipated. We felt from their raving reviews that they would be about their business. WRONG! This place is garbage. Average @ best. I would put them on the same level as a Waffle House. Honestly Waffle House is better. Dine at your own risk here.

Can someone please explain to me why there is a $10 deposit to make a reservation when this place is very very much basic. The host was wearing a deer hunting T-shirt and some converse. Zero art zero decoration. The cocktail list is really a list of ingredients. Our pre-made pork chop was presented to us cold. And the service is very very much below par. I honestly believe everything we ordered was premade food they simply heated up. Never to return. Your hard earned money deserves better KC.

This place is impressive. In a city known for its barbecue, Antler Room raises the ante and executes perfectly. Picture here is a celery and kale salad and Georgian meat dumplings. The salad was an explosion of flavors and, quite honestly, the winner of the evening. But it had stiff competition: the dumplings were incredible. Not pictured was a lemon cake with huckleberries (good but not amazing). The service could not have been better, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. If you havent been and you want to step it up for an-upscale-but-still-casual dinner, put this one on your short list!

This place was really delicious. Everything is served family style and the service was amazing. We particularly love the celery kale salad (tastes better than it sounds). I didnt mind that the dishes come out one by one and you graze as the come, but we ordered some sides and 2 main courses and I didnt like that our broccoli was the very last dish to be served. Felt like that should have come before the main courses. I didnt care for eating that at the end of my meal. I would eat here again but may just choose to do it differently next time.

I tried to find out as much about this restaurant before going for the first time. Everything I discovered came to pass and more. Small plates, large flavor, even larger presentation. The balance of elements making up each dish shows masterful, almost alchemic, precision. If you know whats in it, even if you know how its made, you cant truly say why it works. I cant. But they do work. Thanks for a most memorable meal experience. And final kudos to Audrey, our tour guide extraordinaire. She offered knowledge and neutral invitations to explore. I cant ask for anything more.

Some very thoughtfully creative and globalized American cuisine. The vegetable plates, in particular, are stellar. The carrot fritters were delicious. The flavors are varied yet full of umami, and come together well. The sweetness of the carrot persists through layers of flavors including a fluffy whipped garlic (toumbase, fried shallots, and mild hot sauce. The duck fat roasted cabbage was special. It presented a diverse and explosive profile with middle eastern origins. The rigatoni uses a curry sauce in which strings of crab are interlaced thoroughly. The sauce is light, which highlights the homemade pasta and crab well. The tomiko is a lovely touch to texture. For dessert, the sweet potato cake was elevated by a miso ice cream and sweet potato purée. The miso ice cream didn’t have a particularly savory taste, but instead the fermented soy taste was evident.

My friends gave me a $100 gift card to The Antler Room, allowing me to return for another meal - best birthday present ever! In the short time since my first visit, nearly the entire menu had changed. Everything looked so tasty, my girlfriend and I struggled to limit ourselves only to 4 dishes and 2 desserts!I loved the shokupan, rigatoni, duck confit, and seared scallop. I cant even name a favorite, all of them had an excellent combination of flavors and textures. Of the desserts, my favorite was the kulfi.Overall, the meal cemented The Antler Room as my favorite restaurant in Kansas City!

This was the most inventive menu I have had in a long time. Every bite was more amazing than the last. Don’t decide before you go as there will be more exquisite tastes around each corner. It all starts with a visit to the professional bartender…he has tricks up his sleeve that you just must trust will be absolutely crazy tasty! Let your server know if you have an allergy and let them be your guide! How the chefAnd his amazing staff create items that make it impossible to understand how they made these dishes so different, yet familiar with you trying to understand what you just tasted! I can’t wait to go back to discover what else they can surprise me with! Do not, DO NOT miss the pavlova or the carrots! Crazy good! Thank you for an amazing celebration!

We celebrated my birthday. The chef did not disappoint. I am not a foodie so the menu can sometimes seem intimidating. But every time we try several of the dishes and they are delicious. They don’t always make sense on paper/menu but when the dish comes out they are creative and yummy. I would recommend to be adventurous and try dishes on the menu that you wouldn’t normally order. I think you’ll be shocked how much you will enjoy the flavors and pairing of different foods. Great restaurant, would recommend.

3.5 if Google would allow it.My wife and I frequent a new restaurant a few times a month. We try hard to push ourselves to find the "new." I will give it to Antler Room. I had to book dinner weeks in advance to get a regular dinner reservation on the weekend. The wait was for sure worth the wait. The restaurant was very quaint, almost "small" in a way, but not in a bad idea. There is seating for about 30 in the lower portion of the restaurant, including the bar area. Tables are arms width apart from each other, and that to me was hard because its get loud. The food is served tapas-style (small plates). I would suggest sharing three or tops four dishes per couple. Most of the food was terrific, with lots of flavor and texture. Our favorite were the dumplings, but for the main course, we had the duck, and it was not all that great, so that was a letdown. The menu is seasonal, so we plan to coke back again for sure.

What a gem. If youre looking for an adventure this is it. Every single dish is so thoughtful designed and prepared. We consider ourselves pretty adventurous foodies and there were things we had to Google to know what they were, but we were so convinced that no matter what it was it would be delicious- and we were right. The shokupan (toast kind of like brioche, Japanese milk breadwith chicken liver mousse, deviled hearts and gizzards, fried garlic chips and cilantro was out if this world. As were the dumplings (picturedThe waitress was knowledgeable and the 5 plates for two of us,as recommended by the waitress, was more than enough. We could have done with four. The crab was our least favorite, but I am almost certain it was personal taste. Would highly recommend and would be back for a special occasion.

There is always one secret you want to share with your friends about good food and maestria - well, for kansas city - mine is the Antler Room.Imagine a place that will keep it simple, original and brilliant.A place were the team will share love for tasty ingredients and an absolute perfection in the execution. A place led by a couple that will help you feel at ease, inform you and show you the secrets of the new american cuisine. This is not Paris, this is not El bulli or the Noma. The chefs are world class but their motto is to cook the food that please them and their neighborhood. I am surprised not to see more foreigners attracted by the excellence of the menu, changed often and surprising.I am surprised not to see Michelin reviews posted on the walls. Maybe Nick and Leslie are too modest and avoid the star system, keep their place independent and welcoming.Maybe this is the recipe that made it to the "Bon Appetit" shortlist for best new restaurant in America in 2017. Maybe it is all about the food and reasonable price. For a date, family reunion, business meeting, get the chance to tour kansas city leading restaurant. Enjoy the art produced by Nick Naughton on the wall. Let the barmaid welcome you with a cocktail and loose yourself in a foodie experience. Hope you will like it and it will soon become your secret to share...

After tasting the majority of the menu I’m convinced that the kitchen has successfully executed a balanced and refined offering of small plates. I was back in KC from NYC visiting family and decided to have dinner here spur of the moment late on Sunday evening. One of the finest meals I have had in the past 10 years. The flavor profiles are just phenomenal and the seasonal freshness just oozes in every dish. I felt as if I was sitting in a very fine garden and savoring dishes made from ingredients around me. The tomato shrub cocktail was so interesting and unique I will remember it for quite some time. It was also amazingly affordable - my dining partner and I shared 4 savory plates, 2 sweet plates, and 4 cocktails. Our entire bill was $135 WITH tax and tip (and we tipped 20%). I cant wait to return next time I am in KC.
