33 Wimbledon Hill Rd, Wimbledon, London SW19 7NE, Bristol
Large pub with 2 traditional bars, big screen live sport and covered roof terrace with weekend DJs.
We went for Sunday Lunch last week and had a great meal. Couldnt get a table at first but Lizzie sorted us out! She looked after us all afternoon despite the place being fairly busy. Top spot, top staff!
Just wanted to mention an incredible member of staff that served me in the Loft.Lizzie was friendly, helpful and charming. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and valued. Great service and great food! Many many thx 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Biased as this is my local but its a top spot and caters for all needs! All staff are ace, but Im always looked after the best by Lizzie!
Fun, busy venue. Food very good, staff well trained and friendly.
Great English pub. Cosy, friendly lots of atmosphere. Friendly Staff and top management.
Sunday beef roast came out really quickly after ordering but was very cold. Overpriced in my opinion as I had a tiny few strips of beef and one roast potato cut in half ! It was very expensive for what you get. I was disappointed.
Great local pub! It gets a little busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday was a little quieter and we managed to get a table and try their beef roast, which was fantastic!Definitely recommend!
Proper English Pub with big sports screens. Friendly ambience. Good variety of beers and interesting spirits. We just visited for drinks. Well located in Central Wimbledon
Lovely place, nice staff and lots of different spots to enjoy the company of small or large groups.
Friendly team, great local & delish vegan options too! My favorite spot is in the loft, that rooftop is great on sunny days!
Visited with my husband. We had a very enjoyable time and he commented on how good the ales were. Best in Wimbledon. He sought out the cellar manager (Johnny Englishto commend him.
Poor customer service and very misogynistic crowd. Wife was cat called, stared at and berated by men the whole time and staff did nothing. Staff also have superiority complex and ignore you unless you’re a big spender.
To say that the place is beautiful would be an understatement. Sure its not cheap, but its worth every penny. Excellent food, very nice staff. And I cant wait to be there after a Wimbledon match to discuss it with the owner...
This pub is our neighbourhood favourite! Nobby and Larisa are so welcoming and makes us always feel at home! One of our weekly (daily!spots!
My favourite pub in Wimbledon! Amazing food, super friendly staff and dog friendly which is such a bonus! Highly recommend
The BEST pub in London by far! All of the staff are amazing and makes you feel like home! There is no pub that can top this place!
Had a wonderful evening, the food is almost as tasty as the manger Nobby 🤤- He made me feel so warm and welcome.🤤
Grew up in Wimbledon and never really liked this pub. Back after 30 years, no real change but found staff accommodating, but food was iffy. Had sausage and mash, not much of either but vast amount of onion gravy? Had to ask for a spoon.£15.50. not impressed. But staff were good.
Surprisingly big. The location is pretty good and close to public transport, which its a bonus after drinking. We sat outside and there were lots of tables with plenty of people. Luckily we had some tables booked.I will go there again, even if its a little pricy.
Attended a joint leaving do here back in February, from the outside it looked nice but small but it was really nice and spacious inside. It was my first time here but I really enjoyed it, the staff were really friendly. The only downside was that some of our reserved tables were being used so quite a few of us had to stand for a while and the drinks were expensive, but I would happily go there again.
Old style big London pub/ diner serving quality drinks and food. There are 3 separate bars, all ate quite big. Nice people.
Questionable choice for watching rugby - main TV devoted to Football Focus on mute (i.e. the text that you get on your phone)... Two small TVs did have the rugby, but on very low volume.... One TVs channel was changed while 30+ people were watching it (middle of the second halfand the other TV turned off at least five times in the second half... Other than the questionable management of TVs and channels, not too bad a venue, but they might be better off just picking one intended audience and not pretending they were offering a service they clearly werent interested in.
Great pub! Food (I got the fish and chipswas delicious, the decoration was very pleasant and I found out from the local residents that the owner is a great guy who gives a lot back to the community. The pub has various sections to sit depending on what you want to do. For example, there is an room designated for football fans who want to enjoy watching a game without disturbing other customers who want to enjoy a meal and socialise. I fully recommend this place. The service was also good and the staff friendly
Lovely pub, staff were lovely. Ordered a few nibbles for the table, they came quickly and were lovely.
Solid location, good beer, good and wine selection. Staff are always excellent in a busy pub. Good outdoor area which is ace during long summer evenings
Visited in the afternoon for a couple of beers.Youngs ordinary was well presented by the courteous staff.Didnt try the food, so cannot comment.Pub was clean, Air conditioning was welcome in our UK 3 day heatwave.I would visit again.
Has 4-5 different areas depending on the type of drink youre going for. Upstairs is very nice and has a modern bit that has music round the back downstairs. Also still has an old man bit (a good thing).
Nice place, first visit for me and I will certainly be visiting again to explore further. Did not try the food during the first visit but looking at what others have ordered I must say it looked fantastic. Will post again next time I visit
I went to the Alex to enjoy the champions league football on Sat night, however our evening was ruined by the short black bouncer you had. My friend and I walked out the door holding half finished glasees of beer, the bouncer acknowledged that we were just going for a cigarette and would be back in a moment. When we tried to get back in 3 minutes later we were told it was full and we could not come back in.I did ask where he thought we had bought our beer from, but he was obstinate and rude to us, despite the other bouncer attempting to help us get back in to our friends who were inside. He was rude to us unnecessarily and is a disgrace to his profession. Im surprised you would employ a dwarf to be on the on the door anyway. We left angry and upset, but had a nice time in the Prince of Wales instead. We will not be back to the Alexandra.
Okay. Beer selection is adequate. Had to take a small mortgage out to drink there.Further to the response: I like ales and and i would have preferred a more interesting and larger selection than were available on tap. I can drink in a Wetherspoons at a much lower cost and they have a far wider variety of interesting ales on tap.
Went there for their Sunday Roast. The vegetarian roast was nice. One of the nicest vegetarian roasts Ive tried. Well- presented with barley and beetroot stuffing. Quite filling as well. My friend had pork jolly and chicken and they were also pleased.
There are many great pubs in Wimbledon, but this is the best or one of the top picks for most of the people.I prefer the Loft in the first floor in the evening in all four seasons of the year. It is lively in Summer with open space, and it becomes a warm and cozy cabin in Winter.Good beer selection and cocktails - just like other pubs in the vicinity. But for some reason this always feels like the right place for some reason.
If you are going for drinks then it’s great however if you are planning to eat there then avoid at all cost. Me and my friend had food poisoning after eating in this pub. The burger was absolutely horrendous ( soggy and coldand my steak …. Well let’s no comment on that one. Service was slow too . We waited nearly an hour for our starter. Shame .
Live this pub. Busy but excellent service. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit. Food excellent. But you need to book if you are voing on a Friday night. Would highly recommend it.
Great atmosphere with a good selection of drinks and friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend for a drink after work with friends if you are in Wimbledon. Outside seating is next to a road, however, so dont expect a quiet garden.
Food was just OK, not as much selection as we would of liked. No decent healthy options. My friend chose the tomato salad but was quite average.Staff were lovely and drinks were good x
Very lively and friendly gastro-pub. Perfect for casual drinks by their terrace illuminated with fairy-lights.Tasty and strong cocktails!
Dog friendly pub with lovely staff. One of the best vegan roasts Ive had (and there was so much of it!)
Absolutely beautiful place to go. I recommend it to everyone.Beautiful Christmas decoration , cozy atmosphere Thanks All the staff , which is great. Thanks for Larissa!! very grateful for your kindly attention
Visited the Alex for our weekly Sunday roast. The roast was good. The staff behind the bar were really friendly. I would have rated it 4/5 stars however the only thing letting it down was the gap between the starter and main course (roughly 45 mins).
Hidden gem in the heart of Wimbledon high street. We passed it completely by chance and ended up being amazed by the roof terrace and the views of the high street. Ordered a cool spin on G&T with Prosecco thrown in and the halloumi fries are a must
Really good pub, nipped in last couple of Wednesdays for some lunch. Service has always been fantastic with friendly staff. Theres plenty of outside tables which get the sun (and also in the shade if needed). Food great quality and huge drinks selection. Place has a great atmosphere. Also it looks like they will go out their way to get you a table even without booking which is a big plus. Going to start making this my local.
So happy to see the Alex open again. The best pub in Wimbledon. The service is excellent as well as the food. Sunday roasts are fantastic. An anchor in the Wimbledon community for years with meet up Mondays, a quiz night and a free Christmas meal for anyone who finds themselves on their own. Mick and the team also cooked thousands of meals for NHS staff during Covid which was very much appreciated by all. Always the first place to go to have a decent pint in a proper pub after being away.
Happy place: As the sun sets on the outside area. Perfect place in Wimbledon to meet friends and have great food along with perfect table service from all staff. They go above and beyond ;)Tasty lamb and rhubarb scotch egg. X
The Alexandra is a large pub in Wimbledon with 2 bars, a big screen showing live sport and a covered roof terrace. Even on a chilly day, the colourful and quirky terrace is still a must to visit. With heated lamps and their winter warmer drinks you’ll feel almost as cosy as if you were inside! We sipped on an enjoyable Hot Mulled Sloe Gin under the heated lamps. The Alexandra seems to have it all with a drinks menu which suits everyone’s needs, from wines and craft beers to cocktails and more. This is combined with a food menu with hearty classics like steak and ale pie, and fish and chips. The staff are super friendly, which just makes it even more of a reason to visit!
Great pub with a quirky interior. Super friendly staff...delicious food, I had the quiche...in fact I was longing for the home made sausage roll, so well have to go back !! Location is superb, pub spills out onto the street...very spacious and just down the hill from Wimbledon tennis. What more do you want !!
Superb atmosphere. Beautiful setting in the heart of Wimbledon Shopping precinct.Guinness the goodness of irons and health (in moderation). A good pint (order half a pint if female as its not ladylike to be ordering a pint!).Customer service is excellent. 100++ stars!!Wheelchair access entrance and toilets are fine.Overall a superb gastropub with equally wonderful views!! 100++ stars!
Great local pub with strong British traditions, excellent food (Fish & chips from fresh fish, not frozen). Cant recommend highly enough, recently worth a visit, despite the prices are a bit high, but the quality is corresponding
Very friendly staff and a lovely cozy feel to this pub. In the middle of Wimbeldon but could of been in the country. Reasonable priced too. Had the soup of the day broccoli and stilton rich and creamy. Would recommend this pub.
Popular hang out, joyous crowd on Friday evenings. The loft upstairs has got its outdoor terrace overlooking Wimbledon high street.
