Classic fare and real ales in 19th-century pub with ornate, candle-lit dining room, plus courtyard.
This was a Brian Rix farce of a visit. Equal only to Fawlty Towers. Although our initial query about a welcome drink included withvour booking was given without challenge the following events beggared belief. We appreciate it was a busy night but when ordering food and drinks upstairs there was only one member of staff with a till fob. This meant that when he had to go downstairs the one remaining member was effectively useless. We watched meals arrive to tables who had already been served, tables sit for more than 40 minutes without meals, we were presented with several offerings which werent ours. The meals when they arrived were adequate however there is a error in the description of "steak and Ale" pie in that the two we received appeared to only have gravy rather than actual meat.It was a meal we - a party of 7 - will remember but only for the laughs we shared with neighbouring tables as they got meals presented but not theirs or arrived stone cold.
Traditional pub in the heart of a modern city. Like an oasis offering reasonably priced real draught beer.
Good service, good dish and alcohol
Perfect stop for a perfect pint or have a little experience with their amazing fish and chips, or just to have one of theirs, delicious desert😊 The staff very friendly and helpful 😇
Went on a Thursday night because it was recommended by our tour guide and it was great! Only gave it one less star because the kitchen was closed when we went (around 11pmso Im not sure how the food is. But the bartender (Julianna with a Jwas super sweet and the waitress selling shots even gave us one extra because it was her last batch. The vibe was lively without it being chaotic and the interior is beautiful with lots of seating. Drinks are also very good and reasonably priced (some even cheap)! Will definitely be back.
A 3.5...great feeling in the classic building. Great drinks, fast and friendly bar staff...the food was the challenge. Just really didnt hit the mark v others in the same category.
Solid pub; friendly staff, fun vibe, good drinks. Good location too. Would recommend
Unique place in the middle of the city. A historical building among high skyscrapers. An experience to have when you visit London. Excellent food !
Great steak and ale pie, but the server Alex was great help in deciding what to eat, helping me connect to the wifi, and a very nice guy overall!
Th Albert was our quintessential pub stop on our trip to London. The pub was super cool, it definitely scratched the itch and didn’t disappoint. The drinks were good, the food was good, the staff were friendly, the ambiance was on point. I ordered the fish and chip (it was mediocre, but serviceableand we also ordered the halloumi and chips (this was shockingly delicious). Definitely worth the stop if you’re looking for a pub to visit in London!
Food was good but service was very slow. Some in our group were just getting their dinner when most of us had finished eating.
The atmosphere is chillBut the food is limitedIt’s a pub suitable for drink after work
Stumbled across this charming place when trying to see the Queens funeral procession.. Ducked inside to see on tv. You could hear a pin drop even though so many ppl were squeeze in.. Silent tears on many faces. Came back for dinner & it was soooo loud it was like what you see on tv. I think one of the gents or cadets? carrying the Queens casket was there & older men wearing the many medals on their chest during the procession were also inside dinning.. We had no idea we were in such a special place. Very fun jolly atmosphere by night.. So glad we happened to stumble across it, very special.
Have you ever had microwaved mussels? They’re inedible and now I have thanks to The Albert. Beers good - apps good but entrees we waited maybe 45 mins for and when served (after we inquired as to their whereaboutscold and nasty. I sent the mussels back bc . . . Cold and got them back baked or micro-ed. couldn’t get outta here fast enough. My husband got a 28 day aged steak the cut of meat was really poor - low end quality. He left most on his plate. We’re not new to either of these entrees so the poor food quality was very apparent to us. What a sad example/experience of London food.
A little treasure among all the new buildings. The atmosphere at the entrance and the bar reminded me of the "Peaky Blinders" set.Very good food, tap beers and ales, and even non-alcoholic Gin and Tonic.
I really enjoyed in this pub, tasty food and beer
Ordered the large fish & chips and the chicken & mushroom pie. Probably the worst fish & chips I have ever eaten. Fish has the consistency of tire rubber and totally flavorless. Pie was pretty decent so a star for that. Service was okay as well.
Well lets start with the customer service, the waiter came with our food an hour after we ordered and placed our food at the end of the table so we had to sort out everything ourselves. The food itself was bland and dry. The lasagne was so burnt it had no flavour and her salad was wilted it was inedible. The katsu burger was burnt, no coriander, spring onion or red chilli. No rosemary or salt on the rosemary salted fries. The mac and cheese was dramatically under seasoned and the chips were poorly portioned with the burger.
Excellent fish n chips
This pub was beautiful! Definitely check it out. Upstairs specializes in Gin. Fantastic cocktails and check out the fish and chips
Fish was utter rubbish. So over cooked the breading was burnt and fish shriveled into greasy shards.
Very nice looking pub at a prime location. Poor service and pricey food for the quality you get. Good selection of beer, but unfriendly staff. If you dont have any other options, which I doubt, you can swing by.
The food was good and warm - unfortunately not hot anymore as the service was understaffed and overwhelmed which is why we waited over 5 minutes for cutlery (and the food cooled down). Nice atmosphere though and we would come back for a drink.
We were looking for a traditional English pub and fish and chips on a Saturday night and The Albert delivered. It was busy, but we were able to find a table and the bartender was friendly and helped with our order, no problem. Food was fast and delicious. A great place to stop in!
Great place, food and good prices 👍
Nice busy pub, however service was very, very slow when I visited. It appeared that most of the team on duty were not very experienced in pouring a decent pint. Dont be put off though, still worth a visit and could just have been a temporary blip.
Me: hi, can I please order the chicken and bacon sandwich?Waiter: sorry, we don’t have any sandwiches today.Me: oh, okay, that’s fine, can I get the chicken burger instead?Waiter: sorry, we are out of chicken as well.Me: (sighthen I’ll just take a burger. Can I have it well done please?Waiter: sorry, it only comes cooked one way ..Me: never mind, I’m good. This literally happened and sums up my first and last experience at The Albert
Very beautiful restaurant with its own perfect uniqueness from outside and of course inside it😁 It has two sections - on ground floor and on first floor...
Nice Sunday lunch. Food was good. Nice pub ambiance.
Great pub and amazing service. Went as a group and enjoyed all the food provided. Fish &Chips was amazing. Chicken burger even better and to top it all the Chicken Plater, delicious. Will be back for more amazing food and service.
The new owners are doing a great job. Incredibly friendly service (and on such a busy day - pageant jubilee), and felt like a valued customer. Great work guys - keep smiling
Good mix of local and tourist London bar .nice old building
Nice and cosy tradition British pub . A good spot for a glass of wine. Great atmosphere and great hospitality from the Manager. Definitely will be back.
Good pub for the area, classic decor - more spacious than others so less rammed than the usual Westminster affair. Sat upstairs - the waitress was very friendly, professional and showed a great deal of patience with her customers.
Absolutely Amazing! The Pub was lovely, food was delicious.Diamond was super Friendly, kind and very polite. Will definitely coming back soon!
It’s a cozy local pub with lots of history in it (there’s a sign outside of the building about it). Very friendly stuff & delicious food & beer that were served in no time.
Beautiful, authentic pub in the middle of modern architecture. Looks amazing! But. There is something should be fixed. 1. It seems like the toilets werent cleaned for ages there... 2. Fish and chips supposed to be served with lemon. It wasnt. When we asked for lemon lady carelessly said, they dont have lemons, and has offered lime!! She brought only one small piece and we had two fish and chips.
Dropped in after seeing the local sights on the hop on hop off bus. Its a seat yourself style place that you can either order from the app or go up to the bar. Bar ordering was a bit long and took a few minutes to get it done. Ordered the Steak Sunday Roast with an extra side of chips (fries). The steak could have been better for the price (bit tough for my taste with a large portion being tendon), potatoes were cooked very strange and had hard bits in them, the cheesy cauliflower was great though.
Amazing historical facade w/chalkboard sign outside advertising Best Fish & Chips in London -drew us in!!!! Great atmosphere with absolutely stunning decor. When we entered the restaurant/bar chalkboard signs on walls also advertised Fish & Chips. No notice on menu or sign that menu was not available in total or was a skeleton menu.Ordered fish and chips only to be told NOT available. Patrons there with burgers/chips so cooking up fish was not impossible??? It felt more like not warning to as it was few minutes after 9pm. Such a shame. Should just be a bar instead of restaurant offering something you no longer can provide??
we saw this pub almost every day b/c it was close to our airbnb and so glad we finally tried it on our last day in london! great ambience inside, and we were so happy that food was still served late on a saturday night-- and it was probably the best fish & chips we had! fish is fresh, hot, and crispy and generous portion.
My parents and I enjoyed The Albert as our first meal in London. It was a beautiful sunlit and stylish pub. Very popular as there were reservations on almost every table. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the British steak and ale pie. The sausage alone was different than what we’re used to but when you do a sausage, gravy and mash combo it was scrumptious! We were famished and it hit every spot for us!
Alot of different beer taps. Nice customer service. Fish n chips cmon guys uou can do better! For alberts sake :)
Nice pub for a beer and something to eat. Staff are friendly and they serve a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits as well as a selection of food
Fair selection of drinks (I went for some GK Ice Breaker Pale - tasty), and the location is very handy in the heart of Victoria. The food didnt seem like it was made fresh, with some of the vegetables served out cold, and the quality of the ingredients on the low end of the spectrum. That being said, it filled a gap and was by no means a terrible meal.
Absolutely loved the Albert Tavern! The steak pie was phenomenal as was the Local Cider. Best Cider any of us have ever had. The beer was good as well. Any return to London would include a trip to the Albert for Steak Pie and a Cider for sure!
I enjoyed both the fish and chips and Meat pie and of course the ale! This was my first time with both dishes so I dont really have anything to compare it with so all I can say is that I enjoyed it, especially the meat pie! Plenty of seating and ambience was great. The bar is really nice as well, big as expected! Awesome old style building between modern ones. See my pics
Oh it was actually very good! Got a nice chance to taste decent fish and chips, along with excellent beer and cider. The location is nice and this place works on Sundays which was just what we needed, coupled with good prices. Enjoyed the atmosphere and very friendly staff as well.
Delicious! We stumbled upon this place as most other places were closed for the bank holiday and were sure glad we did. I wasnt too hungry so my sister and I split the large fish and chips and it was just the right size. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly.
Nice sand blast windows. We arrived 4.45, and the upstairs area is not open until 5pm. The staff wasnt flexible enough to allow us to go upstairs although it was raining outside and cold. Not customers friendly. This place is more suitable for a drink rather than a meal.
The building has to be my favorite building in London. The food was pretty good but the service was not that great. They couldnt serve the beer I ordered (off the menubecause it was only available downstairs. It took the server forever to take our order and then the only other time we saw her was when she brought our food to us. I asked for the missing sauce that was supposed to accompany my meal and never saw another staff member again. I had to go retrieve my bill from the bar tender to close out. Disappointed for my first experience there.
