From the personable innkeeper, John, to the thoughtful detail that went into the renovations, to the decor and comfort, this inn hits the mark! John welcomed my husband and me upon arrival and made us feel special and cared for the moment we walked thru the door. The next morning he cooked us a delicious breakfast and made coffee that was brewed to perfection. I was impressed by his story of the risk and challenge that he and his wife took by purchasing the inn and making it their own. It takes a special person or couple to make this vision come to fruition and they are that! Special. From the relaxing hot bath in the deep oval shaped tub, to the layers of soft, silky bedding, I had the best night sleep that Id had since we began our vacation 6 days prior at other locations. The room we stayed in and the entire house was immaculate. The location is very good, walking distance to town.

This place was great. If you have the opportunity to meet the owner, you are in for a treat. He goes above and beyond to ensure you are welcomed and that your stay is great. This place has so much history. It is in a great location as well. This place is highly recommended. A gem!

The best bed and breakfast! John was an amazing host. The rooms were very clean. We stayed in the Kennebec room and it was gorgeous. The breakfast was amazing. It is walking to distance to downtown which was perfect for us. I will definitely stay here next time I am passing through!

I spent this past weekend ( which was also my birthday weekend at the Aerie B and B in New Bern, NC - the hospitality was truly amazing - everyone there was so friendly and helpful and took time to show us around the property and recommended some good local restaurants - the location of Aerie B and B is perfect as it is right in the center of most attractions and walking distance to the waterfront - they even provided us with bikes to ride around and see things in the historic district and the breakfast was delicious - There is no doubt that this place is a "" Class Act and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the New Bern, NC area for work or pleasure - A big shout out to Beth who we met upon arriving and who took real good care of us !! My husband and I stayed at The Aerie two nights for an early 25th anniversary celebration. HIGHLY recommend this beautiful B & B! Beth & John are absolutely WONDERFUL! Breakfast was delicious! We stayed in The Hidden room and really loved the romantic atmosphere and privacy. Every room in this place is so special! What a gem!

Great place to stay and relax. My wife and I celebrated our 35th Anniversary here and enjoyed the waterfront of New Bern. The folks at the Aerie were good down to earth people and the breakfast was great. We’ll be back.

Perfect weekend getaway! I dont have enough kind words for the team running the Aerie. Its gorgeous and the attention to detail is incredible.Accommodations: we stayed in the Tuscarora room, which is a king suite right at the top of the main stairway. This was the comfiest bed Ive slept in away from home! When planning our trip to New Bern, we wanted to stay somewhere that had modern conveniences while maintaining historic charm, and the Tuscarora room was perfect for that -- comfortable and elegant. Everything felt very clean and not at all old, gross, or dingy, which was a concern with other lodging options we considered.Breakfast: fantastic. No reserved seating times or group situation. You just show up anytime during breakfast hours, and you will be provided with coffee or a beverage and the meal of the day at your own table. The food was so filling and tasty!Hosts: we didnt see the hosts very much, but that wasnt necessarily a bad thing. Every employee here seemed to be working hard in the background making the overall experience as positive for guests as possible and maintaining the facilities. One of our hangups with staying at B&Bs is the trope of the overly gregarious hosts and guests, but that wasnt an issue at the Aerie at all. There were opportunities to engage with staff and guests, but there was no need or pressure to do so, which was refreshing.Common spaces: there is a lovely living room on the main level with plenty of books to look through. Adjacent to the living room is a guest refrigerator and snack/Keurig bar, which was helpful as we had a few things left from the first leg of our trip.Behind the house, off the back stairs, there is a patio for lounging, fire pit, and bikes available.Location: you are literally half a block from Tryon Palace (you can see the main gate and stable office from the back stairsand a block from downtown. Once we checked in, we didnt move our car the whole weekend. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions less than 10 minutes walk away.Value: amazing. The hosts provide everything you need so that you never have to leave the house if you dont want to. However, you can also venture outside the house and easily be anywhere in downtown in just a couple of minutes. The level of care is exceptional, and I highly recommend staying here -- this will be our go-to lodging in New Bern.

Perfect! Ideal from pillows through breakfasts and all day! Many delighting gracious unanticipated extras. Lovely living room and bedrooms. Beautiful breakfast room conducive to both private conversations and visiting briefly and pleasantly with other guests. Spacious. Indeed, staying for several days in The Aerie was a wonderful part our vacation!

Absolutely loved our stay here. The home is beautiful, the food is delicious and the service is impeccable. Beds are a dream, location is amazing. Anything and everything you could want at a fair price. If youre looking for a B&B in the Inner Banks, this is the best.

My girlfriend and I recently had the good fortune to stay at the Aerie while celebrating our retirements. The beds were so comfy and the breakfasts delicious. The hosts, Beth and John were delightful and so helpful. We appreciated the nightly wine as well as snacks and drinks. The Aerie is close to all New Bern attractions. I highly recommend this inn and hope to be back!

We loved our stay at the Aerie. The inn is beautifully decorated, the hosts were welcoming and available for all our questions. Breakfast was delicious, we will be sure to come back. It was a perfect waypoint from our drive south, PA to FL.

The innkeepers are friendly and warm and the breakfast was great. The room was decent for a house that was so old, but there were a few things missing for the price. The mattress was most uncomfortable for me and my wife.

I just finished up 6 days at this AMAZING bed & breakfast! The proximity to shops, restaurants, tourists attractions and the river is superb! The owners were available to answer any questions we had regarding the area, real estate, etc. Breakfasts were tasty, diverse and YUMMY! I highly recommend a stay, you will be in for a great treat!

Great location. Be sure you find out in which house you are staying. We were led across the street to a house under construction. The carpet was stained up (gag, left shoes on). The shower was the issue. The shower head was clogged so only 3 holes worked. The water came out in such a way it HURT!!! Well lets take a bath in the spa..water trickled, would have taken an hour to fill the tub. Then the water took an hour to drain. My husband had to stand in filthy water to shower if you could call it that. I would have complained but sign said not to call after 9pm. The next morning I had to do a sponge bath. After breakfast, we privately told the owner to which he mumbled he was working on it. How can you advertise this as a romantic get away.. Get the place renovated first. I feel I should be refunded for this horrible experience. We took pictures and my friends cant believe I stayed. It was late afternoon, my choices were limited. At least I am giving you all a heads up. I will up date if the owners make this right.

We had an amazing stay at The Aerie. The breakfast was very good and they catered to my girlfriends vegetarian lifestyle with local vegetarian meats. The room was cozy and we had a wonderful night sleep. The Aerie is in perfect walking distance to downtown New Bern. Highly recommend and we will definitely book a room here again in the future!

I can’t say enough great things about this Bed and Breakfast! John and Beth run a first class establishment where they are very attentive to the guest’s needs. The Magnolia Suite is beautiful. John’s pimento cheese omelette was amazing!The location is perfect within easy walking distance of Tryon Palace, the waterfront and various businesses. We will be back to stay again!

The Aerie is a must see! Great renovations and upgrades all around. The breakfast is out of this world and the detail John puts into his cooking is amazing. You will not be disappointed. My fiancé and I can’t wait to return.

We have been staying at The Aerie for a couple of years now. Always great. The new owners John and Beth have been making some upgrades and repairs. So far their work has been wonderful. They have updated the colors and decor to make it modern but have managed to use the right colors and furnishings to maintain the old world feel. Both John and Beth are extremely friendly and hospitable and as always the food and service is amazing. Cant wait to come back and watch the continued progress!!!

This is the best bed and breakfast ever! We have been coming here for over 12 years. This was our 9th stay, we love it so much. Luxurious beds, delicious breakfast and amazing In-keepers. They make you feel like family. Within walking distance to down town New Bern. We love this place!

The Aerie was going through some updates and construction was happening right outside our booked room. The owners immediately offered (and insistedthat we choose another room without being charged any extra. Breakfast was amazing, and they offered many great options for stuff to do in New Bern. Great experience.

This place feels like home (albeit a much fancier version if you’re like us and leaving several kids behind back home 🙂). Beth and John were the most gracious and kind of hosts. The Aerie is a lovely B&B nestled in downtown historic New Bern. It is charming, warm, and full of comfort for a night or two away.Breakfast following our evening stay was incredible. John is an outstanding chef and really delivered (blueberry parfait, cheese grit soufflé, house-choice egg, local sausage, and fresh watermelon and orange).Thank you, Beth and John, for pouring your hearts into the Aerie and making this place a welcome retreat for so many others seeking to slow down and enjoy the gifts of life. You have both done an excellent job at upholding that value in the sanctuary of the Aerie!(Side note: The staff and guests were all very intentional in wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and keeping everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Two thumbs up!)

The hosts, Beth & John, went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable and felt safe even though I had to do an unexpected stay under conditions that were less than personally ideal. The room was beautiful, the bed comfortable, and John made the best breakfast I’ve had aside from Bobby Flay. Nothing is too overdecorated with breakable things that make you afraid to sit down which is very important when you’re in someone else’s home. I will definitely be back if for nothing else but the hosts.

Very Very nice and Great Place to come and stay and visit. Food is fabulous and beautifully prepared. There is a guided tour walk to which is amazing. My Wife and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a get away weekend or vacation visit, Anniversary weekend. Very historically area. The rooms are beautifully furnished, very clean and the grounds are maintained the same. Before starying at a hotel I would highly recommend visit the website for this establishment. It will tell the history and can see photos as well of the beautiful place. My wife and I will be back. Beautiful people who own and care for this Bed and Breakfast establishment. 5 Stars.

Beautiful Rooms.. we stayed in the "Hidden" Room, it has a separate entrance from the rest of the house. , Owners are Friendly and Courteous. OUR 1st Stay at a BNB was Our ( Honeymoon Nite ), I also purchased the " Date nite" package...... Breakfast was delicious. The New Owners are working hard to Upgrade various portions of the house without taking away from the Antique Integraty of the home and the Final Outcome is sure to be Even more Amazing, we will Return

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was truly an amazing experience. The property is beautiful, the breakfast was delicious, and John and Beth were incredible hosts. Their attention to detail was great and they really seem to go out of their way to take care of their guests. We highly recommend this bnb and we hope to come back for another visit in the future!

I grew up down the block from this B&B, and had only gone in once. My wife and I recently visited New Bern and decided to give it a try. It’s more beautiful than ever, the location is next to impossible to beat, the owners are delightful, the breakfast was delicious, the other staff was friendly and courteous, and I can’t remember enjoying being away from the comforts of my own home so much. We will definitely make this a regular stop when we are visiting my home town.

Atmosphere was nice and staff was very friendly. Breakfast was extraordinary! However, the "wonderfully deep two person tub" in Tuscarora Room was decidedly not large enough for two average-sized persons. Also, the "king size" bed was just two smaller mattresses put together. Both of these things made our anniversary trip slightly less enjoyable, but the hosts were amazing enough to earn four stars for this B&B.

This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it exceeded our expectations. The Aerie is so quaint with beautiful rooms and the breakfast is AMAZING! We liked that we were able to walk everywhere that we wanted to go. Durell and Cathy were amazing and very welcoming. We highly recommend staying at The Aerie when visiting New Bern.

Incredible! One of the best places I have ever stayed! In historic New Bern, absolutely beautiful!! The rooms are very spacey, the bed is so comfy!!! The customer service is thru the roof; if u are going to stay in New Bern, this is your best choice!!!!

This was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast 😀. The entire experience was awesome! The room were very comfortable. The sheets were the softest sheets Ive ever slept on. We stayed in the "hidden room."Breakfast was out of this world! Coffee was also super smooth and very good!The staff there were also very accommodating and professional. They were very helpful with picking out dinner plans.At the end of the day I will say that I would prefer to never stay in a hotel again.

I have stayed at The Aerie in the past so I can compare my visits. Past visit was 5 stars. This visit 3 stars. Welcome cookies on coffee table wrapped in plastic wrap. That didnt feel very welcoming.. The breakfast was not up to standards. We didnt eat breakfast this morning, because of the disappointing first two mornings. The room was beautiful, the shower was awesome except for the USED cloth hanging on the shower rod upon arrival. Not 5 🌟.

This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and they set the standard high! Gail, the interim innkeeper was lovely, she was walking out with a warm plate of cookies as we walked in and made sure we were comfortable in our room. The room (Tuscarorawas very spacious, and the bed was phenomenal (softest sheets ever!). The best part was the breakfast, 2 wonderful courses and full service! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and there is a personal touch around every corner! Will definitely be returning!!

We got married there, it was perfect! Small weddings only. Stayed in the "hidden room" and had our own private entrance. Great, wonderful, delicious breakfast! The owners are super friendly and nice.Its in walking distance to everything downtown New Bern has to offer. Great place to stay.

My wife and I visited the Aerie Bed & Breakfast for our thirty-first Wedding Anniversary. The Aerie’s accommodations were perfect for the occasion. The Inn was peaceful and charming, just walking distance to the downtown area and the river. Dina and Keith were excellent hosts and paid attention to every detail. Dina assisted us with restaurant reservations as well as things to see and do in New Bern. Perfect Choices!The breakfast each morning was worth the stay! Amy was a delight and served us a delicious gourmet breakfast expertly prepared by Dina. We highly recommend this Inn and will be returning as soon as we can. Warning; your blood pressure may drop a couple of points during your stay!

New owners were a delight! Very glad we stayed here, walking distance to the must-do sites and downtown dining. Nicely appointed rooms, kept cool on hot August days and nights. Breakfast was so good and so filling, wonderful food and great service!! Definitely a place well we stay at again!

My husband and I spent Easter weekend at The Aerie B&B in New Bern, NC. It was a birthday present to me as my birthday happened to fall on Easter Sunday this year (2017). Our time there was delightful. The owners, Marty & Michael, were very welcoming and tuned to any needs that we had. The breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented. There was an afternoon lemonade and wine hour so we could meet the other guests and talk about places to see and eat in the area. The b&b was decorated in authentic Victorian design with lots of crystal, china and overstuffed furniture. We stayed in The Magnolia Room with its high bed and a beautiful private bath (as all of the rooms have - no sharing like in some B&Bs). I highly recommend a stay here if you are anywhere near the area. We cant wait to go back.

FANTASTIC! My wife planned a surprise mini-vacation to New Bern for our anniversary with a two night stay at the Aerie. The entire house is amazing. Its like walking straight into a time capsule. Our room was exquisitely decorated and incredibly comfortable! Late check in wasnt a problem at all. Mike and Marty are two of the nicest people you will ever meet! The hospitality was unbeatable. The breakfast had us wanting to stay a few extra days! Need a dinner reservation? no problem.. they have menus for the restaurants in the area and will gladly call to make your reservations. I dont think we could even fabricate a con to such a wonderful place. We will definitely be back in the future and we will have to try the tour as well as the pontoon ride. Highly recommend Aerie to anyone coming into the area whether it be for business or pleasure.

The Aerie is a fantastic place to stay in New Bern. I got married here and the owners are fantastic people. Returned for our 1 year anniversary and we were welcomed like family. They have personal touches in the room when you arrive, offer social hour (appetizers and wine or soda), full breakfast each morning from 8-9, and complimentary sodas, coffee, and water throughout your stay. The rooms are very comfortable (I want their beds, linens, and pillows). I always get a great nights sleep. Will continue to return for short getaways.

The inn keepers and staff are very kind and welcoming! Food is excellent. We got a free upgrade upon checking in due to availability. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Wine at cocktail hour was delicious. Grounds are lovely as well. Highly recommend!
