A minute's walk from the nearest tram station, this modern hostel is also a 9-minute walk from the University of Antwerp and 1 km from Antwerp Zoo.Straightforward mixed-gender and single-sex dorms offer free Wi-Fi, bunk beds and shared bathrooms. Private rooms add en suite facilities. There's no air-conditioning.Free walking tours are offered. Additional amenities include a shared kitchen, a modern dining area and a library/lounge, plus a furnished terrace. Breakfast and dinner are offered for a fee. Bike rentals are available.
Terrible wifi connection. Don’t book at the last hour, or else you’ll experience the 18 people room and know what’s the worst hostel in the world.
The best hostel ever been in. Welcomed by a wonderful check-in attendant. She was very informative and friendly. The room was immaculately clean. Stayed for 2 nights and our bathroom towels were changed the following morning. The room was cleaned and trash was taken out. We didnt have to turn in our used linens, unlike other hostels.Their breakfast was a superb! Friendly chef and staff. We were greeted by ARLENE who did not only showed us where breakfast was being served, but also prepared our coffee and utensils needed. She didnt have to do that, but made very easy for us. She was a wonderful staff and Ash is lucky to have her on their team! Thanks, Ms. ARLENE REYES, for providing us with Outstanding customer service!
Very nice hostel close to De Meir and Antwerpen Centraal. Super clean room and kitchen. Also comes with a cosy sitting place on the outside.
Everything was really good! The stuff, the place. It was very clean as well. Location is great. Not more than 10 minutes from Central Station. We really liked it!
No power socket near the bed. Coffin sized bed height. But very clean and nice staff. Also great location.
Really enjoyed my stay here. Centrally located, fresh clean room, friendly staff. Will definitely book again when returning to Antwerp.
Very clean and nice hostel. Pretty close to the city center and the train station. Nice staff too.
I never write reviews, but this was just too terrible of an incident to not be said. I stayed in the big shared room on the second floor and unfortunately for me every other room on that floor was being stayed in by a big adolescent group. I’ve thought I’ve heard it all, but this was a new level of disrespect. Both days I stayed I had to put up with hours of blasting of music, screaming, animal mimicking, and profanity including the N word. This wasn’t even happening in the other rooms, this massive group of little kids were screaming at the top of their lungs in the hall while also banging on every door even the rooms that weren’t theirs. I’m not making this sound worse than it is, it was absolute mayhem (weekday nights too!and I can’t believe the hostel would book these children. It’s possible I just got very unlucky, and would have been a fine experience otherwise. Try your luck if you choose to stay here, I will not.
I stayed there for a night and had a great time. Check in was easy and smooth (it was done on a machine outside), and the place was a 5 minute walk from the Flixbus stop. The room was comfortable and the bathroom area was nice and clean. I didnt use the kitchen facilities but they looked great, and I loved the common room- quiet, spacious, and well lit. Would definitely come back!
I needed a bed for one night as part of longer trip. This hostel met my budget and expectations. My only complaint had to do with one of people in the room refusing to turn his light off late into the night. This is not the hostels fault but what can happen when you stay in the hostel.
Stayed here for 2 nights last July. Room was good. Staff are friendly. Only 1 elevator though
Hostel by its self is an really nice place. Very nice staff and nice facility. But the stay was quite unpleasant, people being extremely loud on the corridors all night made it impossible to sleep.
Friendly reception with great service. The hostel was very popular. I visited over the pride weekend of 13-15 Aug. I booked two nights but I’ll have to spend the night in two different beds - most likely because the hostel is popular with groups. For this inconvenience, they offered me a free drink at the bar. I got a sprite in a bottle - refreshing in the summer heat! I could also leave my luggage with them for free, in between checking out of Bed 1 and checking into Bed 2.The dormitory was pretty comfortable. I had to put on my own linen for the bed. It was warm in the summer but bearable with the small fan that someone broughtThe one downside is that I could only find 3 power points in the whole shared room of 6 pax, and 1 power point was right next to the door (and hence not useable). I recommend bringing an extension cord.
The front desk works on demand and clients must take off the linen to throw in the washing container. Antwerpen is having working on the main streets, but mobility works as well. On the other hand, i was on hotel rooms (not hostel dormsand cleaning was ok but not perfect. Rooms do not have tv and pills are too soft.
It’s well situated. After staying at another hostel I reviewed it is hard to recommend. The rooms are rather small. The bathroom is… functional, though the sink is in the bedroom. If you want to take your breakfast there you can buy a 8€ croissant with a coffee way too late in the morning. (Or cross the street there’s a food place selling amazing sausage rolls and cinnamon rolls).Alternatively there’s a communal kitchen. It’s a decent place for a night if you need a place close to the train station. Otherwise it’s pretty disappointing.
I slept one night in a 18 bed dorm. Even though there was a lot of people in one room it felt spacious and wasnt noisy. There was a great bike garage where I could safely store my bike overnight and a big kitchen area with 4 cooking stations. I found that there seemed to be a low amount of pots and pans available. I also liked that there was a book exchange bookshelf available. The service was great and the staff was really friendly. The hostel was really clean and the lounge areas were nice and cosy. The check-out process was quick and easy. One thing that confused me was that I was told that they didnt have any washing detergent available even though they have washing machines that you can use.Overall I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it.
Clean twin bedroom, super friendly service. For a quick one-night stay, late night check-in and early leave it was a great and affordable stay!
Clean modern hostel with great facilities. The rooms are hot though, but luckily you can open the windows. Beds are very soft so I didnt sleep well.
Excellent location, simple check in and out, great room (large windows facing the street, comfortable bed), thoughtfully done interiors for budget travellers ( I had a double room for one night). A cool hangout zone on the ground floor is great for heating up some water, grabbing a quick meal (stove, microwaveor just chilling. There is also a bar open till 10 pm, with happy hours bw 5-7 pm.Only negative: No fan/AC, In summers the room gets really warm, you have to sleep with the windows open which ruins the whole ‘soundproofed’ concept.
The room was clean and very good to price, no tv but it is fine if you just sleep in the hotel, very nice location to the centerElvator did not work and our room was in sixth floor so it is like a punishment at the end of the day 😅 they did not seem to fix it at all, they deal with the elevator thing as a fixed issue they have!
The service was nice, its perfectly located near the Central Station and the city center, rooms were clean. However, for what they offer, the price seems unreasonable. The bed situation in a private room was atrocious. Probably very old thin matresses, not comfortable at all. Also, the beds dont face the door, quite uncomforting to have your back to the door direction when in an unknown place.
The hostel is almost the cheapest you can get in Antwerp and close to the main station, which is convenient. But you check in with a machine. There are barely any workers and I guess that because of that, there was absolutely intolerable loud music until late in the night in the common areas. So if you want to sleep and dont want to party, dont go.
Nice hostel placed in a good location. We booked a private, which was quite large. The only downside was that at 1am, someone decided to smoke, and the fire alarm started annoying everyone for 20 minutes. The next day the elevator was still unusable.
Nice place to stay for youth. Well situated (near to the centerwith clean and comfortable rooms. The shared space also is very sympatic and includes a kitchen with microwave ovens and dishes.
For private room: Simple and clean room, separate private bathroom, great view from big windows -which can be opened. A lifesaver in the summer, because theres no air-conditioning and its HOT. Warning for light sleepers: this is a youth hostel, hence expect people loudly talking in the hallways or an ambulance on the busy street beneath you at 2am. Otherwise central location, close to the station and the city centre, not to mention the shopping street is around the corner. Big bonus: great price for Central Antwerp.
When I checked in, there were someones stuff in the room, which is not a problem I know its a hostel but this persons stuff were all over the room, things which looked like trash - paper bags, dirty clothes on the floor on the common table it wasnt really pleasant. I went out to the city and when I came back the stuff were the same and bathroom smelled really bad, I asked at the reception if there is anything they can do with it and they put me to another room, the second room was nice and clean. So I am really glad how they solved the problem. I was content with my stay.
Very nice and centric, the room is very big and tidy. It has a private bathroom and a kitchen on the bottom floor so that you can cook. The kitchen was not clean though.
Terrible experience, incompetent management. In the dorm bathrooms, there was no hand soap, no hand towels or hand dryers. No hot water in the showers, freezing cold showers. The lockers were tiny, too small to fit a suitcase. No towel rental service. The worker at the desk was kind enough to give me a towel to use. But its clear that management hadnt thought through the most basic needs of people staying in dorm beds and has no idea how to run a hostel.Very limited reception hours - 10am to 8pm?!?Centrally located, but the building faces a major street around the corner from a major plaza, so theres loud noise of vehicles and drunk people all night. At 30 Euro a night, expensive for a hostel. And where does that money go? Towards a shiny common room full of modern furniture... where nobody hangs out because it feels like a corporate lobby instead of a comfortable hostel environment. Towards a giant open-plan guest kitchen... where the sinks are full of dirty pots and pans because nobody is enforcing the "wash your own dishes" rule or cleaning up after people. Where they have signs about labeling your food in the fridge but didnt even think to provide any stickers or pens for labeling. Nice new looking facilities but little things kept breaking, like hooks coming off the wall or the lack of hot water.Instead of glossy facilities, spend your budget on hiring more staff so you can keep decent reception hours and enforce hostel rules, and on fixing and maintaining things
The room was cleanThe location is quite good - on the border of the city centrum, close to attractionsThe kitchen has a very little amount of appliances, not even for a small breakfast for two. All 10 plates were dirty, we found only two pans, etc. Personally for me one of the main reasons for booking a room in hostel is the existence of kitchen, and here I was not able to use it at all.The room is very stuffy, because you cannot open the window wideThe room is said to be soundproof - maybe the walls are, but the door is not and you can hear people slamming doors in the coridor at night. Kitchen terrace is said to be closed after 7PM or so, but actually some people were speaking and laughing loudly in the yard till the very late.Just a note - the sink is in the room, not in the bathroom
My dormitory was upgraded to a double room. It was clean and practical, with the kitchen very nearby, a good soft bed, a desk and a good central heating for the evenings. When my badge did not work, the service was within 15 minutes that somebody was there in the evening to reinstall the badge. Good service.
It was a very good stay because I was given a good room with clean bed linens, access to the kitchen on the same floor and good covid-19 prevention measures. Another interesting thing is that I was upgraded to a private room from the dormitory of 4 without any additional cost. Such a consideration is something remarkable. Looking forward to staying at The ASH again in the future, and I cant hesitate to recommend the place to others.
Everyone was super friendly and nice. A comment is when people check in tell them about your offer and services for ex : I didnt know there was kitchen in my floor for almost two weeks. I didnt know how or if room where cleaned and the cleaner knocked ready to clean but I was busy so I had to ask for spare bed sheet and clean it myself but guests need to know and plan ahead. Small stuffs but they matter ! Hope helps you improve :)
A really lovely place to stay. The hostel was, of course, inexpensive and in a very good location close to the train station and to the city center. It was very clean and organized. The beds were comfy and there was a bar/ restaurant in the lobby. I really enjoyed my time there but make sure you bring hand soap and a towel!
The room was clean and with enough space, the bathroom was really clean, although only 2 out of 5 beds were booked.Great breakfast (with non dairy milkservice and bar/chill area, good to meeting other guests!Location is great 5 min away of train station.
What I liked · Good position, close to the Central Station and the city center. Friendly staff and big rooms (I reserved a double room with private bathroom). Well equipped kitchen and functional common spaces. Very convenient quality/price ratio. What I didnt like · The room had a bad sewer smell, maybe because of the sink thats not inside the bathroom (that contains only the wc and the showerbut in the middle of the bedroom. Id add some fruit serving too for breakfast, and the chance to have either hot coffe-milk or cappuccino (only plain coffee or tea available).
We stayed for 2 nights and it was great! Nice and clean room. Friendly staff. Good location - 10 minutes to the center and 5 minutes to the railway station. Great breakfast, especially fresh pastries (croissants were delicious). There is a fully equipped kitchen, so its possible to cook.
Very nicely located, between the train station and downtown center.Welcoming staff. Well kept up premises.Common kitchen, eating room and backyard patio are very convenient and pleasant.Bicycle storage, luggage storage, perfect.Very good value.Semi-minor shortcomings (just for awareness, none of this is extremely serious:- despite staff efforts, breakfast setup is not convenient when a group needs it all at the same time, specially as early as opening hour (8am). Self-service counter is in a corner, inaccessible by more than 1 person, food is not really ready before 8:15, hot beverages prepared one by one on demand.Expect delays. We suggest AHS design a better way to serve group breakfasts...- speaking of delays, the elevator is somewhat aggravating (slow, weird algorithm choosing which floors to serve first...)
The room was very nice, but only one chair for two people. Service was nice. In the mornings, the walls didnt filter outside sound all to well, but with mandatory quiet-time at night, this was no problem for sleeping. All in all, a very nice stay. The hostel is super central, so anything can be reached within a short time
A nice hostel with clean and spacious (for a hostelrooms. An energetic and friendly staff. Pleasant common areas. Very close to the centre and a good starting point for a walk in the city. Nice breakfast. A tiny detail: one would wish a bigger wash-basin.
Great location in the heart of the city, just around the corner from the main train and bus station. After a month of hostels in Europe this was surprisingly the best and one of the cheapest too. Dorm rooms are big and have their own bathroom. Great large kitchen and dining area with supermarkets not far away.
The space and location are the best things about the hostel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The private rooms are quite large and spacious. The beds are OK. The biggest problem was a terrible smell in the bathroom. There seems to be some sewer problem. We tried using a cleaning spray but that smell never goes away. So we had to keep the bathroom door closed the entire. The room was also very warm, even though it was freezing outside. I do not think the heat was on so we had the window open all night. Other than that everything was acceptable.
I was staying in a room with 16 beds, and felt very comfortable there. Everyone was very friendly. The staff in general were extremely accommodating. My bus ended up late and i wasnt able to make the check in time, but they had not only sent me an email with the code for a key box so i can get my key, but also there was actually staff members waiting to help me out anyways. When i checked out, I had at least 10 hours before my bus left, and they let me keep my luggage there until i was ready to pick it up to catch my next bus.Overall, great experience and great location in Antwerp.
Very nice hostel in a modern building with a functioning lift. Great location close to the railway station and reasonable walking distance from all touristy things. Helpful and welcoming stuff. Clean and spacious room, comfortable bed. The only thing I can suggest improving, it would be good to add more electricity sockets to the rooms.
A very average hostel. Not much atmosphere - it is mostly just a place to sleep. The dorms are huge (18 beds in totalbut thankfully it wasnt too full while I was there. The beds each have a charging point, night light, and small shelf. The bathrooms were okay though a bit smelly. A key card is needed to access everything so it is quite secure. The kitchen facilities are pretty good and there is even a dishwasher! The reception staff wasnt the friendliest. Okay choice in Antwerp.
Great hostel experience. The private room was clean, full of light and big enough. The internal courtyard is also beautiful if the weather permits. The kitchen and the other common spaces are also very nice and functional. The only downside during my staying was the noise from the outside street which was having a big reconstruction during night and day.
This hostel is great value for money, clean, well equipped rooms with great welcome from desk staff. Great comfy bed with fresh linen. The roadworks outside of the hostel are extremely loud, which is obviously beyond the hostels control... however the room was far too hot, and with no air con we had to open the window in the night which amplified the noise. Breakfast is also great value for money, however the breakfast staff could of smiled... even just once! Overall great hostel, great location, great value, we would return for sure.
Decent hostel (we stayed in a private double room which is a bit more expensive). The room was really clean but it got super hot at night (no air-conditioning). There were road works outside which seemed to go on throughout the night, which was not ideal but that wasnt the hostels fault. The kitchen facilities are great and they are happy to store luggage/bikes if you want to explore Antwerp on your last day. Would definitely recommend!
They are really good situated in the city. Few minutes walking from Antwerp Central Station.Price/quality really good.Breakfast you can prepare self, they have big and good equipped kitchen. You can also buy a breakfast, however menu isnt so good.My advice is to make breakfast self and buy only a coffee, which is good.Hotel is very clean and nice.Service its very good, they are friendly, open for guests and also professional.I can definitely recommend this hotel 🏩.
Our stay was a very good experience. We had a private double room which was large, well lit and clean. Shared facilities were good. Staff is friendly and helpful. We appreciated the maps provided for touring not only Antwerp but other nearby cities. Two suggestions for improving the shared kitchen facilities:1consider adding a bin for used/dirty dish cloths and towels and a designated pile of clean towels as well.2The "herbs" cupboard needs to be cleaned up a bit.Overall our stay was a very nice experience.
We had an enjoyable stay. The hotels fittings and decor are modern and minimalist, giving the place a clean look. Little things we found nice and practical were lots of luggage storage, new shower fittings and no shortage of accessible power points for charging devices in our private room.
