Tham Khao Luang - Place of worship in Ratchaburi, Thailand
FYI website says open!!Cave closed for Renovations. Still October 16th 2022 very disappointing. Traveled around the world to see this!
Incredible cave temple, definitely worth a visit. Entrance only 25 baht which includes the baht to shuttle you there and back. Highly recommended 🙏🙏
Hidden attraction in Petchaburi province. To access the cave, it is just a short distance from ticketing area. Lots of monkeys in the area. Free parking at a temple nearby and take a local shuttle to the ticketing area. You have to pay 25THB per person for shuttle service and entrance fee to visit the cave. Quite steep stairs to get down to the cave. Inside the cave, it is beautiful and a lot of histories. This should be another good stop when visiting Khao Wang. At the parking area, there were local beverage stands at the parking area who offered to help keep an eye on our car from those naughty monkeys. When we came back to the parking lot, we bought their drinks to thank them. All in all, we really enjoyed visiting this place. Highly recommended.
There are monkeys on the way up, you have to buy a ticket for a ride from the temple downstairs to go up.
This is a little roadside restaurant that we found on our way to the temple. The reason I picked this it seemed to be pretty busy with a lot of the locals. I have always found that when you see the locals eating at a restaurant, they know whats good. Food was very good. Price is very fair. Very quick service. Couldnt ask for much more. Recommend if youre on the way to this Temple or from the temple, stop and have a bite to eat if youre hungry.
It’s a beautiful cave! Very peaceful but unfortunately there was some tourists being very noisy!! It’s simple to go. The ticket is 10฿ for the cave and 15฿ for the car going and coming from the parking.
Enchanting cave. We were mesmerised by the natural beauty of this cave. The way the cave was illuminated in addition with the extraordinary statues of Lord Buddha added to the overwhelming enchanting atmosphere of the cave. Wow.We were asked to park our vehicle at Wat Bun Tawee, from where we got into a free shuttle van which drove us upto the hill (5 minutes driveto the ticket counter area. We bought tickets worth 25 bhat to enter the natural wonder.
Went here many times, it is always a visit worth. Has been cleaned up, looks amazing.
You have to take a ride on their truck, for a fee then you walk to the cave and go down a long flight of stairs to a dark, damp, hole in the ground where they try to sell you Buddhist souvenirs. After you come up, you will spend more money in their coffee shop because you are tired and sweating like a 🐷. You might see some monkey.
The cave was wonderful, full of monkeys, and lots of budha statues, lots of stallegtites and cave wonders
Very quiet with tourists. Great parking and shuttle organisation.
Amazing place or I should say cave. Its a beautiful cave with Buddha statues all over the cave. Visitors have to park their vehicles at the temple down the street and take a small shuttle from the temple up the mountain. The ride takes about 5 minutes then you need to buy the ticket to get inside the cave. The ticket cost 25 Bhat (about $0.85for the ride and to get inside the cave. There are many steep steps to go down inside the cave. This is a must see wonder of the natural.
1. You must parking inside temple . Cannot go drive inside.2. Parking maneger teach how can go cave.
Visit Tham Khao Luang in May 2022. It is a Buddhist temple in a cave. It is pretty unique with deep historical meanings of the development of Buddhism in Thailand. The ticket entrance (including transit tuktuk from the gate to the caveis 25 baht and it is worth every penny of it.
A bit far from the Hua Hin city centre. Around 700 baht by grab from Hyatt Regency to there. Many Buddha inside the cave. The stairs are proper to walk. And 25 baht entrance fee included for the transport between the entrance and cave.
Absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend visiting this cave temple if you want to see a beautiful view and get some stunning photos. There are bats here so beware if youre scared lol
A hidden gem! Must visit spot. What a cave! What an experience. Beware of the monkeys. They are expert in snatching foods/drinks.
Its a short visit. 2 km from the town center, it has a magical vibe going for it. The setting with the light coming through the holes in the ground is stunning visually. You have to park and take the tickets at the temple just before.
Been left at the shuttle stop in the rain. Not fun walking back to the car park being soaked through and through. The driver should be more considerate. Also not suitable for seniors, steep climb getting in and out of the cave.
Not difficult to reach simply follow Google map to reach the place. However, we cannot directly drive up to the cave entrance. There are shuttle mini Subaru from the temple at the foot of the mountain. Small entrance fee required.
It’s a temple in a cave. You need to park in a temple nearby then pay 15 baht to ride a car to the cave entrance. The cave temple itself isn’t too big, you can see everything in 10 minutes. About a 20 minute visit in total.
Super hot during summer. Need to pay for the car 25 baht for going up. The cave is not long but steep. Recommend to visit if you have time or skip is also ok.
Interesting place. A temple in a cave. Very mustic and holy. Good spots for pictures. Beware of monkeys running free there. 25 baht entrance including going up and down with a tuk tuk. At the tuk tuk stop is a little coffee place where you can get refreshments.
Really nice thing to do in Petchaburi. You will need to park your car at the temple nearby. They will then drive you uphill to the cave. The cave is really awesome and afterwards you can enjoy the temple when they drive you back.
We came on a cloudy day quite late (around 4pmso it wasn’t as epic as in some people’s photos with the ray of sunshine, but still SO beautiful!!! So quiet, peaceful and serene. Definitely worth seeing and I’m sure we will be bringing friends to this place when they come visit. We paid 25THB per person
Very interesting place. Quite cool inside. Lots of monkeys
Temple-like cave with a reclining Buddha and many other Buddhist representations. Many natural light pits and artificial lighting give a nice atmosphere. There are steep steps right at the start to access the cave. You need to park - for free - at the Temple nearby and entrance fee is 10baht per person plus ride ticket 15b - whether your are thai or a foreigner (vehicules are not allowed up the mountain to the cave entrance). You can also feed fish at the temple in exchange of a donation of your choice (should be 10b/bottle)
This is one of the "must do" attractions if youre visiting Phetchaburi. You park at the Temple nearby and then pay 25 Baht for the entry ticket and Songtow to take you up the hill to the cave entrance. You can spend as long as you want there, the Songtow is waiting to take you back again. There is one Grand Chamber here and then a smaller connecting Chamber, both with Buddhist shrines. The skylight hole in the roof of the cave creates a wonderful illuminating effect within this space.I arrived at 9.30am and was the only visitor there which was great, only two others arrived by the time I left.
25 baht for both Thai & Foreigner. It includes the songthew ride to the entrance of the cave. Going in the cave is a stiff stairs down. There was a reclining buddha inside & a very nice ray of sunlight. Refer to the photos below.
Very nice cave, little walk up, and down. Worth to see

A wonderful place, clean, quite, atmosphere, alot of natural and monkey 🐵 you should visit here for refresh your mind in this cave.far from bkk around 3Hr. by car and buy mini bus ticket to go up to the cave is 20/person.
Nice place to visit , big cave.easy to get in , so beautiful .
Khao Luang cave and Tham Khao Luang temple are one attractive for tourist visiting Phetchaburi province. The beutiful of main hall and the huge nearby room are worst to explore.
Caves are found throughout the world and in Asian countries, they have been considered places of worship or archaeological sites depending on what they have to offer to us. When it comes to Thailand, this is not an exception in that ancient caves are scattered across the country offering breathtaking views to visitors. Among them, Khao Lung Cave in Phetchaburi province can literally be described as one of the masterpieces of nature. This cave is located on the Khao Lung hill and inside it houses a large Buddha image. The rays of the sun that penetrates through the holes of the apex of the cave illuminate the cave chambers giving a natural appearance to the gold-colored Buddha images that mutely convey the teachings of Buddhism to the laymen who are still engaged in the cycle of Samsara.
If you plan to also visit the Phraya Nakhon cave, then this isn’t a must. It’s nice and somewhat mystical, but unless you’re into Buddhists temples, I would skip this and head over to the other cave.Watch out for the wild monkeys on the way to the cave! It’s a easy walk up and down the cave, roughly a 5-10min walk from entrance to the cave.
No "farang price" just 25b. Nice old temple inside the cave, you will have to walk down long stairs so better take good shoes.
Integrated budhist place of worship into a huge cage with 2 big openings in the ceiling. It was my first time seeing something like this, and I was amazed. I suggest visiting the place during time when the sun is high (not my case), there is a high chance it is going to take your breath away. Do not miss the other big hall located after passing the lying Budha statue! The entrance into the cave is steep, the road and the stairs down will be accompanied by a lot of monkeys. As always it is good to be a bit cautious, not mimic the monkeys or stare into their eyes and make faces and noises. Do not feed the monkeys either. These precaution are general throughout Thailand, tourist does not abide them and then they have unpleasant experiences with monkeys.
Beuatiful setting for a temple. A bit of exercise, but it was worth it. The place was founded by King Rama IV, and some local dignitaries also pledge support to continue the maintenance and adding more Buddha statue. About 1.5 hours from Bangkok, so it is ok for day trips.
Beautiful local cave, with beautiful lighting inside. Bring your camera in with you snap some great photo. There is also a bit more inside the cave to see. Its not big but totally worth stopping by. None wheelchair accessible here, you need to walk down the stairs
Awesome place, very calm and relaxed. There are beautiful and many Buddha statues here. Get in here for free. Many monkeys around this temple.
Its a lovely place to visit just to explore. A temple that been sacred for Phetchaburi for countless years to come. Been here countless times and never been disappointed. Its a temple with tons of monkey near the entrance. Be warn to not carry anything shiny like water bottle or they will fight you for it. Other than that, its a beautiful place to see with your own eyes. Plus it nice and cool down there from the hot weather Thailand have to offer.
NOT stroller or pwd friendly. pwd persons can go upto near the entrace of the cave. excellent place to visit if your going in the area. wild monkeys near the car park , becarefull when feeding wild monkeys as they can be VERY agressive with the feeding bag especially the larger monkeys. as of june 2019 entrace to cave is open to public. toilets can be located near the cave entrance. there are three sections of the cave first two are will lighted third one will be dark. there will be bats sleeping if you look up. with good lighting you can get excellent photo shots of the place.
A unseen temple hidden inside a cave, Tham Khao Luang, one of the most famous temple in Phetchaburi. The distinct character about this temple is stalagmite, along with gaping hole creating natural light to shine down. If one want or after a special picture effect then this is a place not to miss.Although visitors have to park their car at designated area and can only travel to the entrace by shuttle bus which will cost around ฿20 per person.Once your at the entrace, do take care of valuable, as wild monkeys will snatch anything if one is not careful.Flight of stairs can be difficult for disable person to get down as it is plenty in steps and steep. But once there, the beauty of buddha will help to keep calm and relinquish any tiredness away.
The temple is inside the Tham Khao Luang cave. Once arrived, it is needed to walk uphill a bit and then walk down the stair to go inside the cave. Inside the cave, there are multiple Buddha statues and incredible light entering the cave from the opening in roof of the cave.Parking: You can drive and park near the entrance, no need to park below.
Magnificent sight of Buddha statues in a cave. There is a small car (tuk tukthat will take you to the entrance of the cave for 15baht per person. Long flight of stairs down to cave but worth the climb.
Big cave with many Buddha Images and many monkeys surround ! there is a car Service NEARBY the entry to bring you there for 15 Baht
Very big cave , in front of the cave is stinky by monkey poop and urine. Inside the cave is quite clean with air flow because it has big hole on the top of the cave. Private car has to park at the bottom of the mountain and walk up hill or hop on 15 baht /person small car to the parking lot near the cave. If you wanna walk i think it is just 10 minutes up hill .in the cave you can apend max 30 minutes.
Ideal if you want a cheap afternoon out, alot of monkeys so don’t carry food and drink they will rob you! They didn’t bother us, steep stairs down into a cave where you can pay your respects to buddha
Its very nice cave. It will be great if you come in early morning that no more people. The light ray inside are very fantastic.
