Thali in Reno

What a pleasure to eat here! We came in at 10.15 on a Saturday morning and the place was empty. Mr. Sunny was the only person managing the restaurant.We ordered 4 different dishes - vada, idli, dosa and the kuzhi paniyaram. All 4 came out promptly and tasted very authentic, and the portion sizes were huge! Would definitely come again if were back in Reno, especially to try the vegan thali!

Perfection and bountiful! Clean and locally sourced.Been dining here since it’s inception, about 5 years ago.I did the $18.99 All you can eat vegetarian. I had so much on my plate the first round . I had a second round and I was full.My waitress was a beautiful young lady with a beautiful smile. She came over several times to check on me. Her customer service was excellent.Also, they have the most AMAZING Rice Pudding! Hands down the best in Reno, only $5. It’s enough for two people.They have option of vegan or vegetarian. Loads of space and great for big parties and outside dining in the West Market Court.Recently, they added tea ceremony. I plan on trying that next.

I didn’t know what I wanted for dinner and happened into Thali and it was exactly what I needed. Very satisfying meal. Thank you!

We walked in knowing nothing! The staff was more than helpful and picked two items for us. They did not disappoint! Almost everything is gluten free and it was truly delicious!

Pretty good food, horrible service. Ordered a thali and didnt get it until about 20 minutes later even though it was slow. Parties who arrived much later than we did got their food before us. I had to ask where the food was and she admitted she dropped the ball. Youd think theyd hook us up with a free drink or dessert but nothing 😕

Worst indian food ever eaten. Highway food in india is far better than what i got served today.

Thali was delicious!! Their roti is the best!!! The food was perfectly spiced and so delicious. I am vegan so I didnt try it but neither my daughter or husband were a fan of the sweet lassi. The location is awesome and it is in the same area as another vegan place(nom foods?and a pizza place so their is something for everyone!!

I love Thali’s! It’s one of my favorite spots to eat in Reno. The service is super welcoming, serge and his family are so sweet and attentive. The food is always amazing and it’s basically all you can eat. I always recommend it to all my friends, we’ll be back soon!

Really cool place in a collective of other restaurants that all share the same dining area. Im not actually vego, but the food was delicious and filling. Would happily eat here again.

Food was delicious and well priced (the plate has free refills on entrees). Very kind and attentive customer service as well. This restaurant is completely vegetarian and offers vegan options as well. Im really indecisive so I appreciate that they have the plate entrees picked for the day. Unique and delicious experience!

Delicious is the only word.Super simple to just order the plate, either vegetarian or vegan, and they bring out the selection of the day. Don’t worry, it’s always perfect.BTW the chai is legit.

A unique find in Reno: an Indian vegetarian concept without a menu, with a daily fixed menu of refreshing vegetable dishes and sides of tumeric rice and roti. The acidity and seasoning were perfect for us, and portioned well. We got the AYCE option and the staff even walked to our table to offer refills of each dish. Love it!

Fantastic concept and great food! My family and I ate here a few days ago, only knowing it was vegetarian Indian, and were pleasantly surprised at the "no-menu" concept. The portions were perfect (but they will offer you more for free!and the staff were friendly. I dont think Ive ever seen my mom eat so fast, haha. On top of it all, the indoor courtyard-esque setting was neat. Easily some of the best Indian Ive had.

A rare treat! Anyone who loves plant based food will like this place! I love the daal, spicy bell pepper soup and peanut butter fudge dessert. They were sold out of the turmeric vegan milk but it’s a delicious quaint place to eat!

Loved the Thali. Indian Thali is like home-cooked food! The vibe is awesome!

Presentation was great and loved that it was served as per tradition. But I felt like every curry and side dish couldve used an extra twist of black pepper or masala. The tastes are very mild compared to what my sister and I are used to, so that may be a good thing for some. But being a South Indian, it was kind of disappointing

All the food was made from fresh ingredients. But even more surprising was that all the food revealed that the cooks are not just churning-out the food, they have an artistic touch. My mom was a chef and accordingly I grew-up in a kitchen. I can tell the difference between slick presentation that pretends to be artistic touch, and real “chefy” touch. This place has the latter. That said, if you want fancy presentation, this ain’t the joint. The food comes in little metal bows arranged on a circular metal tray. The water is served in traditional Indian metal glasses. The only utensil is a spoon. It’s Indian home style. It’s delicious. If you know the difference between assembled and cooked with touch this place is a rare find. Neither the restaurant nor the food is all prettied up… not at all. I like it this way. I’ll be back. Soon.

Not a big fan of restaurant attached to a specific food philosophy, I found this policy limiting. Whit that said this place has amazing food, the mix of flavors is mind-blowing, spiciness is on point, tradition is respected. The fact that they heavily use local produce from local producer is fantastic in my opinion and the ability of having fresh ingredients every day allow them to change the menu often and offer great food to clients.Very recommended place

So, this place is hard for me to explain, even though we eat here regularly. Basically you walk in, order the dinner (which is basically whatever they are making for the dayand you sit. a few moments later, they bring you their collection of food and you stuff your face with awesome indian food. They top off your food as you desire, and then you leave. I wish I could explain what type of indian food you will be getting, but it changes and I cant. Its just good.

Worst food ever!!Driven by so many positive reviews, we thought of to give it a try since I am pure vegetarian , it was not at all eatable. Look at my place, since I was hungry, I somehow ate dry roti and rice. I am surprised, how can the Indian people give positive reviews for such food, it tasted like boiled veggies with turmeric and salt, no Indian spices at all. This is not the place to taste authentic Indian food.P.S I want this criticism to be taken in a positive way so that they(Thali folkscould show the real taste of authentic Indian food.

$18 unlimited plate of local seasonal Indian cuisine. Cant be beat. House made whole wheat roti are truly special.Fun ambiance. Kombucha on tap and local beer.The meal will nourish and satisfy!👍

Good food and a nice lively vibe. The seating area of the restaurant is surrounded by other restaurants that adds to the vibe. Our food tasted great and the service was very good too. I liked the simplicity of the menu and it was perfect.

It was a new experience to try the Indian style coffee service. After pouring back and forth between the cup and saucer several times the sweetness at the bottom mixed in and the mixture frothed up. Delicious and rich. It was fun to taste all the different dishes and nice to know it was all organic and vegetarian. We enjoyed being able to get refills of our favorites.

What a fantastic place! We were driving through Reno and just happened upon Thali on our way to Salt Lake City. I am vegan and they happily accommodated my dietary restrictions. The food is wonderful and extremely unique. The chef came by our table and talked a little about the food and even introduced me to some awesome vegan yogurt. If you are ever in the area, I highly suggest stoping by. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in Reno.

Thali is one of the only Indian places in all of the Reno Sparks area that truly understands what vegan means. Their food is exquisite each and every time! They use locally sourced ingredients and it is always amazing! Highly, highly recommend everything on the menu. Thank you guys for having a wonderful menu, super friendly staff and for offering so many yummy plant based options.

My favorite Indian spot in Reno. $16 for a standard plate and $18 for an all you can eat plate of a variety of dishes that are different each time based on locally produce veggies on hand. It doesn’t look fancy, but the food has always been good and I love the variety! Best golden milk we’ve had too.

This is the best Indian food Ive ever had!! You dont order, you just get whatever they are serving for the evening, but always guaranteed to be seasonal and fresh. All you can eat and always vegetarian. The service can be hit or miss but the food is always fabulous so I gave it 5 stars. One of my favorite restaurants in Reno.

I absolutely love this place, easily one of my favorite spots in Reno. Cant beat incredible all you can eat vegan Indian food!The fixed menu changes regularly. So each plate comes with three entrees, roti, rice, yogurt (vegan option availablepickled veg, salad, and a dessert (usually rice pudding). Its really great getting to try new dishes each visit and they have yet to disappoint me in the slightest.On top of the great food, its located in West St. Market, home of a few other great eateries and a coffee/gelato shop and the owners/employees are all super nice folks who are committed to supporting local farmers and helping out folks in need. This place is the whole package of awesomeness.I cant recommend Thali enough, so dont miss out if you can come and eat here. You will be happy you did!

This place is so good! The food is fresh, delicious, and most importantly vegan friendly! You can even get all-you-can-eat for just a couple bucks more. Staff was friendly and kind. Definitely recommend this place if your in the area (vegan or not).

Long wait time, bad food quality and to top it all delayed service for your high paid unlimited (for name sakemeal.After waiting for more than half an hour, my meal finally arrived and I was the first one there after the restaurant opened at 5. Except basic Dal, everything else was a HUGE disappointment. Dish, which they called paneer gravy, was basically few cubes of paneer dipped in salted water with no taste. It was the unlimited meal for which I paid 18$ and to just get Dal refilled (as it was the only edible dish), I had to call twice 2 different waiters. My Dal finally came after 20 minutes. Either their cooks are slow or it is their horrible tactic of waiting till the customer give up and they could avoid 2 spoons of their refill.NEVER EVER COMING BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT.

I was recommended this place by one of the staff. He definitely under promised the experience. We came back.Food was high-quality. Not that heavily feeling I usually get after Indian food. No, completely content and happy to support such an awesome business.

Have to leave a review because the food was so good! The food is a vegetarian or vegan set of dishes that changes - everything was really delicious. I had this squash and onion dish that was phenomenal. Staff were extremely polite and refilled dishes we asked for, including the chutney. Definitely worth a visit if you like Indian food.

Vegan, vegetarian, AND gluten-free friendly. Theres no menu---and thats the best part. You come in and pay a reasonable price for all you can eat of traditional, locally-sourced, organic Northern Indian food.The set up of each meal is beautiful, including 4 mini bowls of their dishes for the day (based on the local whole foods in season at the time), along with traditional Jasmine rice, a mini bowl of yogurt, and roti in the middle. Enough food to fill you up first round, but so good that you have to go for seconds! Their desserts are traditional as well; not too sweet, just right!The culture, the coziness, the familial vibes, these all are why Thali is hands down our favorite restaurant in town! Especially for people that are vegan, vegetarian, and/or gluten free.Try it out, you wont regret it.PS. My first no menu restaurant and I was surprised. You tell them your dietary preferences between vegetarian / vegan / gluten free. They then bring you an assortment of Indian dishes. The food was good and service was excellent. They explained all the dishes brought to the table.

Healthy, organic and immensely tasty! Locally sourced organic vegetables, all you can eat vegetarian or vegan dinner. Open 5 PM to 9 PM only. Each bite is flavorful, and not too spicy, and all items made on site, lovingly by Mom! If you are in Reno area, this is an absolute NO MISS restaurant. The menu changes every day, depending on the ingredients available for that day.

It doesn’t get much better. Traditional Indian cuisine, served at your table. I recommend arriving early as it gets really busy. Definitely order the chai, it’s as good as it gets. Your portions may seem small but your server will come around with more of everything, pace yourself and enjoy. The staff is really nice and attentive, and of course you can enjoy all the other restaurants and ice cream from icecycle too.

Tried it on a Saturday, was quite busy and rightly so, very high quality food - organic and locally grown, and also unlimited servings. Was delicious, will definitely come back.

Truly authentic northern Indian cuisine. Their food tastes homemade, like if you went to India and ate at someones house (I have been to India twice). Staff was extremely friendly and the environment is just lovely. You can really taste the love and care they put into the food. Highly recommended!
