Thakadu Bush Camp - in Ghanzi, Botswana
Not very impressed with rooms. It may be due to the lack of tourism during Covid but place needs a cash infussion. The rooms smelt terrible probably due to the toilet pipe not properly sealed. Storm came through at night causing black out and water pump was not working. No water in rooms in the morning.Great meals and staff.Interactive Bush people awareness program.
We had a lovely campsite for our 4x4 with rooftoptent. Ablutions were clean and the Pool was a really nice refreshment. Owner and staff were great and super friendly. We had a great time!
Absolutely below expectations.Room dirty. Linen stained had holes. Smell of room diabolical. Food so average the Kodu recommended was so tough.I believe that the owners were in the bar but made no attempt to enlighten us on the property. The dogs barked on arrival and were annoyingly present. The bartenders were lovely. No room prepared and it wasstifling hot. Very sad experience
Disappointed unfortunately. We reported no water on arrival and there was no urgency in helping us. Theft out of another guests vehicle occured, which seems to be common in Ghanzi. Food at the restaurant wasnt bad at all.
Stayed here last Friday, hosting skills were incredible, ended up staying and drinking with them all night swapping stories, went above and beyond with the hosting. They make the place 100% worth visiting, would definitely come back
Best camp site I have visited all around my trip! Hosts were absolutely amazing and welcoming, farm is very big and beutiful and the food at the restaurant was fantastic. Thanks a lot!
Dreadful, unkempt, needs a good clean and owners who want to maintain it.
Love the place. Love the bush feel and incredible food. Its Like youre on safari. Floodlit water hole and cold beers are a perfect combo and clean rooms
Mate… These guys were incredible! We rocked up, out of the blue, with intentions of only staying one night. 3 days later, Laurie and Nush turned into those ‘friends that became family’ deal. Honestly, their hospitality is unmatched and their banter is slightly above par ;)Thanks guys for unforgettable memories and a badass adventure!
The atmosphere, the food, the serenity. Its such a fantastic place be at.
Nice setting but maintenance of the units lacking. Friendly staff and good food.
Wonderful experience. The food was delicious and so fresh , and we saw a variety of animals including Giraffe and Zebra. Would highly recommend for anyone. Will be back for sure!
Food was amazing. Got a camping spot for us even though we arrived spontaneously
We stayed here in the campsite for one night just after covid reopening. We had a great time and the staff is very friendly! We had a great conversation with them. It’s a nice place if you stop in ghanzi!
A great stopover for a night or more. The owners are helpful & friendly. Accommodation in chalets good. Camping sites comfortable. Fantastic food in restaurant serving venison in many different dishes. Wifi in restaurant.
Good camp for a stopover. We was here for camping, it was not our first time here. We can`t understand all the bad ratings. There are different options for accomodation, from camping to tents and rooms. The staff is very helpful, and the game meat from their own farm is delicious and fairly priced. If you like game meat you must try this. The restaurant has a lovely view to the water hole where a variety of animals come to drink water. A refreshing pool and free WiFi is also available. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere very tranquil.
Peaceful place. Wonderful service from Banda.
loads to see, very good environment, fresh air
A great place, very clean and very friendly people, the dinner at the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast as well.Thank you for this nice welcoming camping !
Great variety of game, good food...
Always stay at Thakadu since I was a little boy. Great seeing animals at the watering hole. Love the selection of great local game on the menu. Will be back this summer as usual.
Basic but great, delicious food and very welcoming staff.
Thakadu is great for a night or two.Camp sites are basic, but shaded. facilities are clean but basic (what more could one ask for).Accommodation options vary in price, all are clean and spacious.NOTE: book the cheaper options with air-conditioningSwimming pool is the place to be.The bar and restaurant serve good food and cold beer.Wildlife sighting from the restaurant are rather good if I have to say so myself. Sit there with abeer in hand and the wildlife comes within 50m.
Delicious food with cold drinks (or cool swim in the poolwhile overlooking a water hole with lots of animals. Fascinating vulture restaurant with a passionate guide to explain the conservation work being done on the game reserve. Friendly staff always willing to have a chat.
Staff are exaptional. Watering hole right by the bar, good birding, and avrage food.
We got stuck without accommodation in Ghanzi so found this place about 10km out of town. Cost wise prices are for tourists though. But not terrible, I have seen hotels charging much more. Food is about 15% more than in Botswana towns and the room rates are about 40% more than a reasonable hotel / guest house. If you want isolation, game viewing and a quaint country atmosphere , you will enjoy immensely.
Keep going you are almost there 🥰 loads of wild life, friendly staff, great food and camping ⛺️
First rain in eight months just while we were setting up the tent.
Was not the friendliest of welcomes by the staff. The campsite was very average, and just didn’t look nice with not much shade to go around.
Kitchen was closed when we got there, but facilities were nice
Very nice campsite. Everyone gets their own little private spot. Very friendly staff.
Room was terrible, minute, nowhere to put anything. It literally was a wooden box with 2 brds
The restaurant had very nice food. And the cabins we slept in where exellent
We camped at Thakadu in March 2018 at the end of the rain season. There is a restaurant and bar at reception and a nice pool. One can camp or stay in one of many chalets and rooms. There are two allusions and the staff are very friendly. You need to pay attention on the tar road coming in from Namibia due to the free roaming cattle, goats, horses and sheep. There is a card machine and you can run a tab and pay when you leave.
My friend Isaac took me to this place in Ganzi Botswana. Oh the food.was yummy. They do game.meat here.
Quaint lodge in the middle of nowhere. Great food.
Lovely restaurant! Beautiful campsites too
Chanced in for a one night stay and was well accommodated...chalet was clean and comfortable...surroundings with wildlife quite pleasant...food (game meatwas excellent...
Camping area bathrooms are rather shabby. Restaurant area and pool are great
Everything available what you need, relaxed atmosphere ans clean washing rooms.
Great location in Ghanzi. Amazing food options, great service, craft drinks and beers available.
Very nice campsite and clean ablutions.
Great place! Loved the food, game vibe and San folk
Ok for a stopover, but nothing special.Food in their own restaurant was good. The tent was ok, but not really comfortable. Got cold during night. Wifi only in the restaurant, but it worked well there.Road to the camp is really rocky, so I was glad that my small car (not a 4WDmade it.Didnt see any game, and was told that the bushmen experience doesnt make sense for one person alone. (Seemed that they didnt really encourage it, since there were a lot of people staying there, and Id expect that some other people might have also been interested)
Nice for a stop over Not much to do in the surrounding village Animals Sporting from the tent /campsite
Very good service and smart accomodation. Can do with a tv and wifi services in the rooms.
This place is perfectly fine for a one night stopover. The tented accommodation is fairly well stocked and have power points inside. The food at the restaurant is pretty good as well and their lunch packs give you decent value for money. Id recommend their burgers as the best option on the menu.
Food here is excellent. Rooms are simple yet have exactly what you need. Great place for an overnight stop.
Lodge in combination with a farm. Though the houses are a bit old and on the shabby side, they still are very comfy. And the restaurant is a huge plus, they serve excellent food which is mostly grown or raised on the farm itself.
Nice place with good pool. Little expensive thats why only 4 starts.
